During last several days I try to do clean installation of Windows 10 on my laptop. My laptop is Asus K70AB. When I try to boot from USB drive which has installation distributive I get different errors. I tried Media Creation Tool, Rufus, Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool, nothing works. I tried several USB drives and tried to boot via every USB port of laptop. I did tens of successful clean installations of Windows on different computers(including this laptop), but now I faced with this problem. All my USB drives are 100% ok, because even now I can boot from every from them on other computers. I formated HDD of this laptop via my other PC, but it doesn't help. I have 210 version of BIOS, when I try to update to 211 I get an error.
Maybe someone knows how to solve this problem?

Hey looks like a very unusual problem to me. In doubt got an equal error with my old laptop .
Solved this by installing windows on another device on a blank ssd and then put it into old laptop to be able to boot.
Looks to me like you need to change your boot type to UEFI.
Which message do you get when you disable quiet boot, Oboard Lan Boot Rom ?
Maybe change also Sata Type to AHCI and check UEFI Settings.
Or use rufus to generate exact uefi/legacy boot stick.. maybe your stick itself isnt bootable.

Hmm. You should still be able to boot a MBR disk though. Maybe it's a bug with the laptop BIOS; have you been able to test on another computer?

But my mistake.
If every one of your drives is able to boot on other PCs but not this laptop, you have the common denominator - the laptop. It sounds to me like a broken/buggy BIOS, especially given that attempting to update the BIOS results in an error.
Have you tried clearing CMOS/NVRAM? This may be difficult seeing as it's a laptop; removing the CMOS battery in my Alienware 17 requires complete disassembly as it's not accessible unless the mainboard is removed from the chassis. However, many OEMs provide some means of clearing CMOS/NVRAM by a key combo.

I don't know. You'd have to check the Asus website to see if they still have your current BIOS version, although updating it would generally be better.

No, the CMOS is usually soldered to the board. CMOS = Complimentary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor...which in contemporary terms means almost every integrated circuit and chip.
Resetting BIOS through the setup isn't quite the same as clearing all values. If you're able to access the BIOS battery (most likely by removing the bottom of the laptop) you can remove it and short the terminals for about 60 seconds. I searched for some information on your laptop and unfortunately the user manual wasn't any help.

If you are seeing 2 mass storage devices, you must've put your phone in mass storage mode,
either through the app or my shell scripts.
In that case it's normal that you can't access the internal storage, since it's ext4 and can't be mounted on any Windows-computer.
(Due to technical restrictions it also can't be mounted on Linux computers)
I'm working on a solution to provide a simulated FAT32 filesystem to the host computer but that will take some time.
Afaik Windows XP is capable of understanding the concept of MTP devices when the proper driver is installed (but there may be none for an 11 year old OS)
Btw Windows 7 works just as fine or even better (optimized resource management) on old computers, you might want to try and upgrade sometime even if XP64 SP2 will still have update support until mid-2014.
Android Commander is probably of use to you .

Neither is true.
I've upgraded a lot of computers from Windows XP (which tends to get bloated up and slow down quite a bit under normal usage) to Windows 7 and the memory aswell as CPU-usage dropped significantly.
It all depends on how you configure your machine. Additionally if you still get freezes (Windows 7 had such issues on release but that's quite some time ago) then either a driver or your hardware is causing issues... neither having to do with Windows.
However that is off-topic here, so yeah =)
You don't, by any chance, mistook Windows Vista for Windows 7? Because there is a reason noone wants Vista...
I'll quote Wikipedia. Is the following given?
Media Transfer Protocol (commonly referred to as MTP) is part of the "Windows Media" framework and thus closely related to Windows Media Player. [...] Support for Media Transfer Protocol in Windows XP requires the installation of Windows Media Player 10 or higher.

You could try putting your phone in PTP (Picture Transfer) mode and see if that makes any difference.

It's not about what YOU like, it's about what the manufacturers like.
Micosoft wants tu bury a ~12y old bug-riddled OS which isn't even sold anymore.
(Altough it will still get 2 full years of security-updates)
Hardware vendors never even considered XP64 a real platform
So in the end it's either you upgrade or you're stuck with Museum-style hard- and software.
I did your homework (Google) for you and found the following which seems to be needed on Windows XP computers:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=19153
Windows XP relies by default on Media Player which does not allow you to manage the contents directly... only through it's own interface.

Hey Streakers,
I am using DSC 1.4 on my streak. I wanted to try the OTG feature and ordered an OTG cable.
And I have to say: it works! I can use a PC-keyboard or a mouse. But I have one problem with the automount-function of a usb flash drive.
When I plug the drive+the cable to my streak for the first time, I can read the content on /mnt/usbdisk.
But when I unplug the flash drive and plug the same again, or another flash drive, nothing happens. That means the folder is emty.
After a reboot it works again. Is there a way to mount the flash drive manually with the console? Or any other trick?
Thanks for your answers and a special thanks to everyone who keeps this device alive!!! :good:
i remember hunterteins was facing similar problem and got it resolved.
Maybe PM'ing him would help?

I newer got around, why that happend. In the end I thought it must have been a broken self-soldered cable.
Another show stopper can be an open file on the USB device. As long as some process is accessing a file in /mnt/usbdisk/ automount via vold will not work.
Lastly you may take a look into the Q5 USB Memory Manager from hxxp://android.gval.biz/
Good luck,
hunderteins
thx for the fast answers! i will try it and report the result!
ok, I tried this q5 usb memory manager. but is has no effect.
I found out, that when I restart the streak and plug the flash drive, the q5 manager detects in /sys/block/ the folder "sda". This is, according to the q5 instructions, the recomended block device. In /sys/block/sda/device/ are documents like "model" and "state". According to them runns in the sda device or folder a "16GB Trannscend" flash drive. That's the plugged drive.
I find the same documents, when I replug the flash drive only with the difference that the block device is called "sdb".
I belive the q5 manager has no impact on the mount/unmount process, because when i click "unmount file system " nothing happens.
I mean the sda/asb folder doesn't disappear.
Is there a opportunity to force the system to unmount this sda system?
Does the automount function works on your devices without problems?
I have no programming background, but if it's possible to unmount the sdcard, I gues this is at last only a codeline in the shell, why it's not possible to change the codeline for the flash drive? Only a noob idea
thanks in advance
Hello,
It's my first post here, I install remix os first time, I try boot it from pendrive and all the time I have same problem, can somebody fix that ? That _ on the left corner can be there forever..., try to boot it from pendrive many times and same results check this two videos please :

@mario44562 Is your pendrive Corsair Flash Voyager USB 2.0? If so then most likely your pendrive is simply too slow for the job.
Please check the writing speed of your flash drive, flash drives with low writing speeds may not be able to support the boot process. It is recommended to use USB 3.0 flash drives with a read/write speed of 20MB/s and above. Do note that it takes up to 15 minutes to boot up for the first use after installation of Remix OS for PC.

I have a macbook and a raspberry, tried to run virtualbox with linux on the mac but it couldn't see the attached usb device (don't know if it's related to having everything connected through an usb c hub and my lack of knowledge).
The raspie detected the tv box but not in burn mode and I cannot put it in that mode.
Should I try again with a virtualbox windows image? should I throw the box?

Didn't have any luck with virtualbox vm, didn't detect anything, but my mac also can see the device... but when I try to run the linux amlogic utilities, they say that there is no amlogic device connected (I guess is something related to different device paths between mac and linux).

Hopefully get it sorted

It's a little lower than it used to be...
I can not change default USB in developer options either. When I attempt to run adb my device is not recognized. When I enable USB tethering the only popup I get on my phone is to turn off debugging. I can not accept connection to PC. I think this is why I am not seeing my Pixel 6 in adb. I have att variant( I know but it was the only one I could get) I will see if it changes next month when I pay it off and unlock.

Do you have the official Google usb driver installed on your PC.
Universal usb drivers will not work on Pixel 6 series.
I do. Android studio doesn't recognize the device either, in fact it crashed Google's Android Studio when I tried to access through it

I also cleaned out all the unnecessary INF my PC and used a open third party app to make sure I didn't have a stray driver in the way.
Just a shot in the dark, but I can't help wondering if people with mysterious USB problems have AMD chipsets in common.
I am running an Intel core 17 hp laptop and an i5 6400 with Mint and Primeos dual boot

I mention AMD because their USB controllers have problems with some peripherals. It's a documented issue and I had my own USB nightmares with a Ryzen laptop a couple years ago. Kernel panics from bootable USB sticks was one of the problems. Replacing the laptop with its i7 equivalent solved everything.

I got persistent permission USB debugging for my computer and now stays in file transfer.
I went to dev options for default USB I selected USB tethering. USB default still greyed out can't toggle.
Then searched USB preferences in settings. I selected USB controlled by connected device. I immediately got permissions popup allowing me to give permission for USB debugging of my phone. I allowed always from this computer. I then changed to file transfer in USB preferences. Closed settings. Started adb and phone is now recognized with adb devices command.

I got it .
Select USB tethering dev options
Search USB preferences in settings
Connect to computer
Selected controlled by connected device
Always allowed debugging from this computer in popup
Changed to file transfer in USB preferences.
Phone now recognized in adb with
Adb devices command
Automatically switches when I connect to my computer now
USB default still greyed out and won't toggle in dev options but adb works
I think I found a way around it with my ATT variant. Please let me know. I haven't posted anything anywhere before and may have forgotten a step in my excitement, or not been clear enough. Excuse any errors in terminology, I am new to this.

I'd say good progress as long as you're getting output from adb. fastboot should output too but it's not very useful without an unlocked bootloader.
Your descriptions make sense, I'm just short on suggestions because I'm not familiar with phones locked by AT&T except for the usual carrier barriers. Normally with phones that are carrier unlocked, no USB changes should be needed for file transfer mode other than selecting the option in Settings/Connected devices whenever the phone is connected. And for adb or fastboot only USB debugging needs to be enabled. For my Pixel and all phones before it, I've never had to tamper with USB settings in Dev options aside from enabling debugging to get it all working.
I agree. The bootloader will be unlocked in a couple weeks. Without adb it wouldn't matter if it was unlocked or not.
Now that permission has been given to my computer I don't have to mess with it. Wasn't about USB more about that certificate.
