I have this phone as part of my collection, great display and colours, but since like a year ago an issue with the screen started, it is detecting ghost touches near the bottom right to the middle right of the screen, and to the top right (basically it jumps through all the right side of the screen) making some days impossible to use it, but out of the sudden it becomes normal and I can use it normally without problem for weeks and months, but the problem keeps returning.
The screen is not cracked and is in flawless condition (at least by using human eye), but the phone has like 2 falls with silicon cover.
• Has anyone had this same problem with ghost touches?
• Can it be a really micro, micro display crack?
• Or because some apps started to behave weird lately ( not ghost touches, but not displaying images and things like that, maybe due to the Android 7.1 version? ) it can be software problem?

Haven't really seen any posts on this, so maybe I just got a lemon...
Got my Flyer last night and first thing I noticed was that I had some light-bleed at the bottom of the screen in portait mode. 2 greenish blobs to be exact. Also some more slight bleed along the right side from top to bottom. I cranked up the brightness to just how bad it was, and lo and behold, found 3 stuck pixels.
Examined it a bit more and noticed a slight gap with light passing through along the bottom edge, where the screen meets the bezel. And last but not least, also a jaggy scratch on the aluminum itself.
I'm going to take back to BB and exchange for another, was wondering if anyone else had flaws like these? HTC build quality is usually pretty good, so I was surpised to see this on mine.

There seems to be some different issues depending on which version people have bought (EU/US/other, Wifi only/3G+Wifi).
I have EU 3G+Wifi,32GB version, my screen and the exterior was perfect, but the touch sensors are totally irratic. Sometimes the far most left edge doesn't respond in portrait mode, some times it seems to respond to nothing at all, just flicking the home screens around, pulling the status bar down, launching shortcuts, or typing random stuff, even the soft keys are buzzing and active when this happens.
It actually did this from the first time I powered it on, and it took me 30 mins to get through the first few steps to get it up an running because it kept pressing the wrong places and quite often hitting the back soft key. I tried a factory reset, it helped slightly, tried recalibrating the keyboard, tried various hacks found around these forums, nothing helped. It seems worse in landscape mode than portrait.
I am getting it replaced by Amazon, which is quite nice since it also seems to acquire scratches very easily, even using the capacitive end of the pen has left tiny tiny marks. So, I ordered some screen protectors just to be on the safe side.
No issues with mine, sounds like you just got a dud.
No issues with my and is 16 gb wifii
Ok, just exchanged and got my 2nd one at a different BB... more problems.
This one also has some light-bleed at the bottom, but not as bad as the 1st one. Also has 2 stuck pixels, you can see them perfectly using one of those screen tester apps. And lastly, the volume rocker is loose, when I pick up the tablet, it makes a rattling sound.
Also weird, when I first booted up, had a default wallpaper of a blue skateboarding Android on a dark background... was not the normal default HTC wallpaper, wtf? lol. The box was sealed shut, had never been opened. Weird.
So back to the store again tomorrow, gonna exchange.
Edit: Tried out one of those stuck pixel fixer apps and didn't work. The stuck pixel is red, can see it perfectly on a dark background. I'd be willing to keep this one despite that, but the loose rattling vol rocker is driving me nuts. Argghh!
Ok, I guess 3rd time's a charm because I got Flyer #3 today and seems to be perfect - no dead/stuck pixels or rattling vol rocker! Everything seems solid.
Interestingly, on #1 and #2, the 3d carousel effect never worked at all. But on this one it works fine. Really surprised I had to go through 2 bum units first to finally get one that wasn't defective..
I just bought my 80 G9. Before I start rooting and romming and warranty voiding I thought I should ask in case these are defects:
In landscape mode, is it normal for the viewing angle to be better if the tablet pointed down instead of up? In other words, if I have the screen down on a table and I'm looking at roughly a 45 degree angle 18" away, it's not good. Yet if I prop it up almost vertical in the same place, 18" away, below my line of site, it looks amazing. Head-on it looks kind of ok, but videos and dark images get washed out. (And using it in portrait is odd too - the screen looks good if I tilt it to the left. Otherwise, the screen looks different to each eye).
The second thing I experienced is, there seems to be a touch dead zone in the top middle of the screen, right where the X's are in Chrome for a second or third tab (it takes about 5 taps to finally get one to land on the X). I haven't found any other dead areas.
If both of these are common issues I can live with them.

Do you have a 80G9? Its viewing angles seem to suck
The 2nd issue I have as well, it appeared more in ics so I'm hoping its a software issue and will be fixed soon

Yes, 80 G9.
I'm quickly getting used to the angle.
As for the touch, I ran a drawing program and sure enough there's an 8th inch margin around the whole screen where touching is difficult.
Hi,
i've got the same thing on my 80G9.
After a screen calibration and after the last update, the touchscreen is ok.
The viewing angle is very bad on this tablet in landscape. Try to do a 180° rotation. I only find this solution to watch correctly
Its designed to be optimally viewed using the stand so that's probably why the viewing angle sucks flat and Straight.
I think the dead area is not a dead area its just chrome takes a while to respond due to its huge memory requirements with tabs.
As for voiding the warranty : If you use custom roms from here (XDA) and NOT Official then your device won't be watermarked and won't void the warranty. Just remember to total factory reset/wipe and remove SDE Menu system before you ship it back if it needs a repair.

I installed multitouch visual test from the market, and there was a definite dead zone. The taps would be extremely accurate up until you reached 1/8-1/4 from the edge, and suddenly nine out of ten taps would land on the very edge. Tapping on chrome tab buttons was merely a symptom.
So I returned the G9 and exchanged it (I had drove 2 hours to a store to buy it in the first place, and luckily found an excuse to go back within the 14 day return period). I exchanged it, and tested it on the spot. The accuracy of the edges was much better. I'd say nine out of ten taps near the edges were within 5 pixels (whereas in the center they were dead on). Not quite a scientific test, but definitely noticeably better. And tapping on things near the edge like chrome tabs worked 9/10 times.
That was yesterday. I got home, started playing with it, turned the tablet to rotate it, and no rotate. I know rotation worked earlier in the day while I was testing it - it had rotated while in my lap at an almost flat angle. Still I double checked the rotation settings, did a factory reset, upgraded to stock 4.0.6. It's still stuck in landscape mode.
So I'm out. I'll find another excuse to drive 2 hours each way back to the store sometime in the next 2 weeks, and probably exchange it for something else (with any luck the nexus will be out).
It's too bad too. I really liked it. The price was phenominal, the hardware design straightforward, the os non-bloated, etc. From what I read there aren't a lot of problems with the hardware. I just have dumb luck I guess.

I got two A80S tablets and no problems with touchscreen here.
Just to inform you about some features of ICS:
Have a look in the settings...
- Developer options
- User Interface
- Show touches
After activating this option a light spot is shown after touching the screen.
No need for an external tool to check the accuracy of your touchscreen .

Thanks! This certainly won't be my last ICS device, so that's good to know!
Hi guys, I just found a purple spot on my screen. Just a little smudge, barely visible (not at all in normal use) but it can be seen when the screen turns white. Is this a HW problem ? And can it be connected with dropping the phone before a week ? I assume that it would have appeared adter the drop, but it appeared today, I'm 100% sure that it wasn't there yesterday when I was reading + the spot is in lower right corner and the only little sign of the drop (nothing is damaged, just the corner of the phone) is on the upper left corner, where it hit the ground. I've never had any problems with my phone, for over a year now. Runnig CM10+Siyah.
thanks

A pic would help too... Did you try connecting it to an external display, Most likely a screen burn because the amoled screen is very hard to break you only break the glass in front of it usually. Maybe screen wear how long has it been since you bought your phone?

hi, thanks for an answer. this is the photo, like I said, it's barely visible on it.. but I also think that it hasn't anything to do with the drop. it is a year now, with heavy (really heavy) usage.
edit: the scratches are just screen protector and it is not problem with it, I tried to remove it.
Hi, I dropped the phone (it fell from my pocket when I was sitting on the bench in the gym changing room) from circa 30 cm height and looked at the phone and everything was ok - from such a small drop, no wonder.
But by the time I got home I saw a crack forming from the side of impact (the phone dropped "on its feet" - hitting the frame) which went all the way to the opposite side of the frame. It stopped there of course and now I have a screen split in two by the crack running all the way from bottom to the top.
It is visible only when looking at an angle with light background on the screen, but I do not want a crack in the glass.
What are the options here? Where to repair it (preferably in the UK)? How much?
Or is it better to sell it to one the fellows here who bricked their phones (I read so many threads about this here lately)?
Any input is appreciated :fingers-crossed:
the screen works perfectly - it it just the look that is bothering me
I'm in the same position and the device is working fine. As long it isn't visible and everything is ok, why spend a lot of money?
But if you still want to change it, here it is a guide and in OP signature a site where you can buy the kit:

I had the same problem like you. But I had to change the glass / display (they're the same) in the day that my screen stopped working. I bought a new one here in Brazil for R$600,00... that's like aproximatelly US$300,00...
Hi,
so I bought my G965F/DS a month ago and am very happy. Except for the miscalibrated touch screen.
Whenever I touch the screen, the recognized position is off by approx. 1/4th inch to the upper right. This causes serious typing problems etc.
I use a protective glass but checked with and without it - no difference. Touch sensitivity does not cause the issue either. I run magisk rooted stock room with exposed.
Is there any calibration tool for the display available?
Thanks!!
anyone?
Never seen a capacitive touchscreen needing recalibration, I'd take it back and get it replaced under warranty... Something is seriously wrong with the hardware.
