[DEV] Android box resolution - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I am regularly seeing Android boxes / TVs / sticks that claim to support 4K, but their framebuffer resolution is only FullHD, meaning the top level layout getWidth() and getHeight() returns 1920 x 1080.
4K video displayed through VideoView is decoded and displayed in true 4K, so the devices support 4K in at least some ways.
Does anybody know whether it is possible to display images, text and graphics in 4K as well on such devices? Is there any official documentation regarding screen resolution on Android?
Thank you for any suggestions
Milan

[Q] Handbrake converting - Videos look squished

I was hoping someone around here has some experience with creating videos in Handbrake. I've done it many times, however I'm running into an issue where the videos look a little squished horizontally, or stretched vertically if you will.
I've tried multiple different resolutions when converting a 1080p video (1920x1080) and have followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729094
Has anyone found the perfect resolution for converting a 1920x1080 video file to look good on the Vibrant?
Thanks in advance!
If it's a true 1080p, without black bars anywhere, the best resolution would be 800x450, that is 16:9 or 1,7777 aspect ratio. I'm used to 720x400 though, for better compression, or even 640x352.
Ah I haven't tried those resolutions... will give it a try. Thanks!
Well I tried 800x450, and the video still looks stretched out vertically.

Is it possible to make Folowing camera APK? sample image attached

Hi , I'm new here.
As I'm graphic designer (Large Format printing store) , its hard 4 me to see the 8~12MP cameras images that are pretty useless as large images! they lake all the details, no sharpening or aggressive sharpening, and very aggressive noise redaction algorithms.
I was wandering I we can make small camera apk that will take photos via the camera apk we choose, shoot at highest MP and than take the pic and do the following actions:
sharpening(normal)
Img downsize to 50% Via Bicubic sharper method (no need those useless large images)
sharpening(normal)
add noise - in Photoshop its 2%, Uniform, Monochromatic (bcz images are too smooth and unrealistic)
and save image.
in this simple method we will get more realistic, detailed images in effective size.
those are simple filters that I believe can work on android (?) there are java software with those filters http://www.jhlabs.com/ip/filters/

Yes, that´s possible.

Moving to Q&A
sorry I didn't know- I assumed it was related to developing section.
If this possible who can help to make it happen?
Is it hard to code?
all that the apk need to do is receive image file from existing camera apk and add sharpening filter downsize it to 50% of the MP,
this way we would have great shots with our cameras!

[Q] Issue with scaling html5 built app

I have created an HTML5 'app' with a width and height 480 x 800 to be used as an android app.
Plan is that this can be scaled down/up for other Android devices to fit screen.
The app runs fine, but it is not being scaled to my device screen size. I have to scroll up/down and left/right on the every screen.
I have tried nearly every variation of the meta viewport tag with no succes (in the index.html file).
Any ideas? Have spent two days frying brain on this one. Have also tried appmobi & phonegap.
Cheers

tigr's Gcam

After trying around a couple gcam mods, Tigr's seems to be the most stable / feature rich port, except for Night Sight which doesn't work. I'm looking for another port only for night sight.
Working :
- 3 lenses, Main, Wide angle and macro
- HDR+ Enhanced up to 100 frames
- Video up to 4k60 @200mbs
- Portrait mode
Not Working :
- Slow Motion

I have submitted my xml file on celsoazevedo, but it isnt up yet.
Have you tried the Onfire port with the config for F2 Pro?
EDIT: Just tried tigr's gcam and didnt like the results, in fact after using Onfire for a while I have gone back to Urnyx and still prefer it overall.
