There are two kinds of root methods. System and systemless...
System method makes changes to your system partition while the systemless one just changes your boot partition to get the root.
Normal xposed works with system root but not the systemless root so we have systemless Xposed.
As for advantages or disadvantages, I can't say much on that topic
Magisk is a way to obtain systemless root on devices (Chain fire SuperSU can also provide the same thing).
Until version 6 of magisk, the magisk app had a toggle inside the app to turn root on or off anytime. It had the advantage that if an app detected root and did not run, you could just toggle the switch and use the app. Quit the app and turn root on again.
Beginning with ver 7, this functionality was removed. Can't say anything about it now. Have not followed it in a while.
As for installing it, google it and you can find many tutorials on how to do it.

It can be used to install mods systemlessly that supports it like XtremeMusic and more. Search for it.

Please give us detailed info. I learnt what I said by just brushing that project in my searches. Would love to know more about it.
Hi Everyone,
Alot more apps seem to be detecting root nowadays, and after Googling solutions I can't seem to find anything that works anymore.
I used to just deny the app in SuperSU but this doesn't seem to work anymore with the Sky Q app and Android Pay.
Im currently using Pixel.
Does anyone have any apps or methods?

Use Rootcloak Xposed module to hide apps detecting your root. Add apps that you want to stop detecting root.
Download it from here. You need to install Xposed framework.

Brilliant, does it work with Android 7 though?

Unfortunately both Xposed and Rootcloak not supported to android Nougat.
You can use hide my root app developed by amphoras to hide root access. Download from play store. I don't know it supports android Nougat.
Developer not given information about Nougat compatibility. Try and see
If it helped. Please thank me.
Iv already tried it, didnt work. Hopefully something comes up soon
Thanks

Use suhide app developed by famous android developer chainfire.
It can hide root on per app basis.
It is in experimental stage and it supports to android Nougat.

Thanks again!
i tried it, but it caused a boot loop. I Looked through the thread, and it seems to be an issue with November's update. I'll wait for him to update the app and try again but it looks promising.
thanks very much.

Confirm magisk manager app still working on S9+ (use menu: Magisk Hide)
Hello guys
I want to use the SEQR app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seamless.seqr&hl=de) with my G900F and an installed LineageOS. Is there a way? The app constantly says that I am rooted. But LineageOS isn't rooted. It is an app for payment in shops. It simulates a card for contactless paying.
Best regards
David

I've never heard of SEQR, but if it checks safety net for compatibility then yes it will work.
Hello.
I have a Mate 10 Pro.
Is there a way, without rooting, that I can remove/hide the battery icon in the status bar? (I like to instead use things like T.E.A.M. Battery Bar instead)
Not if you're not rooted

How to achieve this with root?
I'm not rooted anymore but xposed used to be an option when I was rooted with older phones.

Yeah xposed has just been released for oreo this week, not able to get it working so far without a custom recovery, longing for twrp lol.
I've been trying to get FGO working but I keep getting the error about root. I've removed Magisk but nothing happen im using NOS 8.1
Probably works on MIUI, even better on a 7.1 rom without root. Link me the app and I'll test it.

What magisk version are you using? And did you add FGO to magisk hide?
With LL SIF that also complains about root, magisk hide solves that no problem.
