External Microphone for Calls - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to bring my Samsung Galaxy SII GT-9100 and later S4 to the security standard which Edward Snowden mentions in the video below at 7:34. I desoldered the microphones and installed Lineage OS 17.1 on the SII. Now I can make calls using an external headset. However, for better usability I would like to use an external AUX-microhpone only, which I can easily attach to the phone case. This leaves me with the problem that the phone always thinks that a headset is attached when the external microphone is plugged in and the speakers thus stop working. Is it possible to force the phone to use its speakers even though an AUX-microphone is plugged in? I tried the app "Lesser AudioSwitch", but it does not work during calls. I also don't want to use a y-splitter or any other external device except the microphone. Can someone help me here. This is the first time I post on such a forum and I already read a lot, but couldn't find a solution.

Record with external Mic?

Can the GS2 record with from an external audio source via 4 pole mic? headset with built in mic peerhaps? What about bluetooth?
Also can anyone suggest where to get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack that is 4 pole?
I've gave up looking at ebay.
EDIT: Does not seem to record from bluetooth.
Nor mic without a 4 pole connector, Which I am still trying to find.
Bump!
Looking for your knowlege, Don have access to my headset with mic, Could someone test it?
I'm actually in the same boat as you. So far, I've seen conflicting reports. Some people say that external mics won't work with the stock camera app, some people say that any 4-conductor (TRRS) mic will work just fine, and some people say that you have to use a y-cable to be able to plug in a standard mic.
That said, I did find something called the i-Microphone that's supposed to work. There is even a video on YouTube where someone successfully tested it on the SGS2.
I can't post external links in my posts yet (haven't been here long enough), so you'll have to search for these using the terms below.
(1) Y-Cable:
Search Amazon for: Headset Buddy01-PC35-PH35)
(2) i-Microphone:
Search Google for: i-Microphone
(3) i-Microphone Test Video:
Search YouTube for: Samsung Galaxy S2 External Microphone vs Internal Test
Let me know if you find something that works for you!
I have discovered that the default camera app will not record audio from an external source.

Click to collapse
??
I can use the headset that came with the phone, and audio records through that... (albeit in mono)
Or are you talking about something else?
I forget im running on CM9.
I tried a inline headset but no luck.

Will this external mic work on i717

I found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/TINY-TIE-CL...quipment_ET&hash=item3f1772ae7e#ht_1476wt_978
which is supposed to connect to as a smartphone and work as an external mic. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried something like this on i717.
Also , what kind of camera app should I use in order to enable recording from this mic ?
By itself, it will not. It is using the connections that the headphones would use. Most likely it would play sounds and not record them. You would need to find an adapter.

[i9305 LTE] Dock 'Dialler Audio' Kernel Modifications?

Hi guys, first post here on the forums. I have a question/request for something that bugs the hell out of me.
I own one of the iBolt car docks for my s3 4g; it's great and works well (provided I uses a custom kernel like Perseus), my issue is that although the custom kernels can properly detect the dock and route media audio through the aux out, none of them seem to be able to route my call audio through the aux-out and still have the microphone working.
I'm currently using Ripper Rom V9 with the perseus kernel, when I go to place a call it automatically puts the phone on 'speakerphone' and still detects my voice through the inbuilt microphone but I would much prefer for it to come through the aux-out, is this possible with modification of the kernel? This would be very useful for many people I would imagine, it is very hard to hear the other persons voice through speakerphone while my phone is docked up on the dash and I'm driving along. I read somewhere that samsung by default don't allow such configuration, I think it may have been on an audio-redirector app but it only redirected system and media audio.
Any information would be greatly appreciated :good:

[Q] Microphone issues

Can someone please help me, I am currently attempting Twitch streaming from my tablet using Screen Stream Mirroring and I finally decided to get internal audio working correctly now I have another issue.
I am trying to play my external microphone through internal speakers in order to have my voice active on the stream which I managed successfully using some mic to speaker apps however these did not stay active when leaving the app. So first question would be, can anyone recommend a way to have this more permanent?
Second question is a bug really, whenever I use an external microphone my internal microphone will not disable at all leading to annoying tapping sounds through stream. It's definitely internal mic as I tested it myself by sealing up my external mic when plugged in and tapping on screen fairly lightly like a metre away and the sound was clear as day.
I am currently using a Sony xperia z tablet on official firmware 4.4.4 with root access. Any help would be appreciated as this issue has me stumped.

Why external microphone doesnt work on some Androids (like LG G5)

I dont know if it's a hardware problem.
I used 4 pin external mic on my LG G5:
i.imgur.com/0QFjK8W.png (cant post image/link)
(this mic actually has only 2 working wires - 3rd an 4th rings are connected to MIC, and top 1st and 2nd rings are not connected to anything, they are just empty).
when I use them on my android LG G5, i can record from this microhpone very well (phone sees it), but when i connect output from external Wireless receiver ( which exactly outputs microphone voice/audio on the same 3rd and 4th rings:

, then my phone cant see the voice from such applicance...
(however, when i connect headset into that receiver, i hear voice in headphones).
So, receiver outputs the voice correctly, but why LG G5 cant see that case?
The interesting thing is that my another android phone (Motorola Turbo 2 ) can obtain voice from that line well...
I am a bit technician and tried to manually cut & connect lines to every possible combination, but in none of the case the LG G5 can obtain the voice from appliance... any help is appreciated
I think it can be sth with detecting Jack plug in g5... I have constant problem using aux cables.. I must put them multiple times to get them to work properly... Opo had similar issue but it was solved on custom roms only.. maybe some voltages are problematic for g5 dunno but it's real life issue for me...
It could be an electronic problem, meaning that this external microphone is not suitable for your G5.
Either case, I would try installing "SoundAbout"; which is a pretty nifty app that lets you re-route your sound to any of the phone components manually.
I would then tell it to pick up your voice from the mic.
It's a free app and doesn't require root.
