Call/network works fine in welcome screen but it goes to activating network infinite loop occurs..(Unless I remove physical SIM)
But after setup also there is no signal or no network ... seems like issue while activating network.
Issues:
- Unknown IMEI.
- No network services.
- Couldn't activate SIM after removing and adding physical sim.
Cause of this issues:
- Phone was working fine but yesterday I tried to install esim .. However their was an error after QR SCAN saying
Something went wrong while trying to activate your number. Contact customer service with EID and QR code.
Method I tried:
- Contact with SIM operator. (They are sure not problem on their end)
- Tried resetting network/wifi/bluetooth but (Couldn't delete the ESIM)
It says Downloaded SIMS can't be erased due to an error. Restart your device and try again.
- Factory reset.
- Flashed factory images from here (https://developers.google.com/android/images)
- Contact with google customer care. (They are clueless and they are not possible to do so, unless returning a device ..Since I bought from other country store is not available and returning is not possible)
- Tried using different operator physical SIM it works fine on other device but not on pixel.
Something I found
- EFS corrupt.
- Everyone who is trying to scan from QR are getting this issues and not solved yet in any thread.|
Have you tried resetting first, then skipping the prompt to insert/download SIM, then try to put in physical SIM or download eSIM from Settings > Network and Internet > click plus button next to SIMs?
What country are you using your Pixel in?

The same thing happened to my pixel3. I used to be normal on Android 9. I upgraded to 12 and couldn't add esim. I uninstalled the sim manager and updated it, and then downloaded it again. It was normal at first. After sim adding esim has been waiting, eid not available, I told google, they made me reset and cause my 10+ esim to be cleared, I didn't choose to clear esim. I passed downgrade now eid not available, and physical sim is normal, go to don't buy google phone, their esim problem, none of them solved.
Something similar happened to me when I was messing with the esim thing. I fixed mine by leaving the physical sim in and going to the APN and resetting to default. Then going in and since everything was blank I freestyled some things like this.......

Then I *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone info. Somewhere on that APN there is a place where it has a bunch of different options to choose from. I think it was the bearer. I put just and only NR/LTE. In the phone info menu there's a toggle for the use of DSDS. Make sure that's off and where it asks you what you want to use for preferred network type put the NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA as your choice. Then go up to the three little dots and hit "enable connection".
Try that, it solved my issue. Maybe it'll work for u too.

Did you install the carrier cab? Carrier Cabs Here
Also... go to Settings.... Connections... Connections... Advanced... and edit the Verizon Wireless connection. It should dial #777.... then on the screen that asks for it... Username = Phone#@vzw3g.com Password = vzw Domain= Leave Blank
To make things easier, you can also use the Connection Wizard to get everything going.

Click on the menu and hit USE GPS. when it actually connects and finds you... you will be able to use 'My Location'. It just centers the screen on you... as far as I know.

I'm on verizon and the carrier cab worked for me. Other than doing *228 with Option 1 and letting it reprogram your phone... I can't think of anything else besides those connection settings. If you have another verizon phone that isn't connected... go to the website and activate that phone on the same #... basically killing the current 6800.... after the "New" phone is up and running... then switch back.... *228 , 1... *228 , 2.. and also verify your settings for the internet connection.
My browser hung up... sorry for the double post.

thanks a lot guys for all the help, I guess im just gona have to wait for VZW to finish this. ill try again some more tomarow

Hi Friends:
I bought used MoPho 4g to use overseas (stock 2.3.5 rooted). I popped in a VN sim but the phone tells me that no GSM/UTMS networks were found.
I switch to Global mode, but that still does not make the GSM detected.
The foreign sim works on another unlocked feature phone, so I know the account/SIM is good. When I go to the security settings to do a SIM lock (just to see), it says that no SIM is found.
In any case, I would think even if no SIM is found, that the phone should detect a GSM network, but it does not.
Thoughts?
You could have switched baseband. Try to reflash radio with RSD Lite. But first read, before flashing. Read twice or more.
Start in Photon Compendium thread and then 2.3.5 sv2 custom sbf thread.
Before playing with ROM flashing, confirm you have correct network mode:
Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode. Try choosing Any GSM/UMTS network and wait a couple of minutes. You may also try to choose Automatic.
I use it for gsm in the US and find that it sees the network better if I set it to automatic.

Yes, I set the network settings to both GSM and automatic. Both cannot detect the GSM network.
It looks like there are no other options, so I will look into flashing the baseband again.

have you checked that block roaming options aren't checked? happened to me a couple times. when you switch to GSM/UMTS mode, roaming block (block calls, data and sms) options activate by default.
Roaming guards are unchecked. Still can't get a gsm signal.
Thanks.

If you are (still) using Sprint, you need to call their international team to enable international roaming/usage (even if you are not using Sprint SIM).
This happened to me when I went to Germany. I had to call them from there (via VOIP) and I was able to use Simyo prepaid.

Hi Axelfox,
Were your questions answered and are you able to get on a GSM network yet? You can PM me if you like, I am currently in VN and using MobiFone SIM card with their unlimited 3G for $3/mo. Which SIM are you using?
Try this, go to the Google Play market and download an APN manager such as:
Offline SIM APN Database
Tweakker APN Internet MMS
APN Manager Pro
-GP
Thanks to all. I was not able to call Sprint to activate international roaming, but that is good to know. It was my understanding that it was internationally unlocked out of the box and I could just pop in the sim.

My gf bought a Verizon S4 last week and is now here in The Netherlands trying to get this Dutch Vodafone SIM card working. It accepts the SIM and it makes calls/receives texts. But data isn't working because the correct APN settings can't be added.
I set the network type to GSM (or Global, doesn't change anything), restart the phone, but the necessary options are unavailable. There's a big + button in the bottom of the APN list to add APN's, but it's grayed out. Same goes for the only option visible under the menu button (something like 'Reset to defaults').
Any ideas?

Interesting. I use a UK sim and it works OK. Verizon doesn't enable the APN function when there's a Verizon SIM inserted.
I wonder if there's a similar block for Vodaphone since Verizon owns a chunk of them.

There's a few things to try.
1. Try installing an APN application. "Offline SIM APN Database" shows up in some Google searches.
2. It may be that using a custom ROM will allow you to bypass that lock.
3. Try some other carrier's SIM to see if it unlocks the APN settings. The lockout happens when there's a Verizon SIM installed. I suspect it also happens with Vodaphone SIMs.
have her reboot into safe mode wipe everything then install the stock rom. i did the same , same phone and there is no trouble adding my apn from another carrier.. its completely stock..

The APN application isn't able to set APN data anymore since JellyBean. When I pop in the Vodafone SIM it says it's a Verizon SIM but shows Vodafone as the carrier. That's kinda weird.
I could install a custom ROM, but I'd rather not honestly. It's not my phone. That'll be a last resort.
I currently don't have a SIM for another carrier available and would like to use Vodafone anyway, since they have the plan that best fits her needs anyway. I'll see if I can pick up a cheap Prepaid SIM later.

I think your only resort is to talk to Vodaphone and have them tell you what to do.
The lock happens when the firmware on the Verizon phone detects a Verizon SIM. Vodaphone is Verizon,so it's supposed to configure an APN by default with the right settings (it's disabled to keep you from messing with it and causing the phone to fail.) I think the APN data is stored on the SIM and loaded when the SIM is recognized, so perhaps your Vodaphone SIM just needs that loaded.
So, two choices: get Vodaphone to fix it (they'll probably tell you that the phone is not supported), or buy a new phone to use with Vodaphone.
You're lucky that it didn't just activate the standard VZ plan in the Vodaphone area - $20.48 per megabyte.
I bought a €10 KPN prepaid SIM just to test it, and I'm able to add the APN now.
Unfortunately, this will probably mean I can't get a Vodafone subscription because of Verizon's messed up "security". Glad I don't have to deal with that company again...
I don't see Vodafone be able to help since they have no connection to Verizon whatsoever and obviously can't change anything about the phone either.
Thanks for the help guys!
The problem with muted / lost / dropped calls still exists while speaking on the phone. It has been reported mainly from users who live in unsupported countries and use unsupported carriers without root and magisk. In Greece we have found a tiny trick to get over (not always) this problem by switching one of the two SIM to locked 2G, through the hidden menu *#*#4636#*#*. So, the SIMs setup plays big role and now I'm not facing problems anymore. I have pixel 6 with stock Android 13 (no root) and October's 2022 security patch and my setup is:
eSIM --> Vodafone (international carrier) with LTE & "allow 2G" in settings
SIM --> Cosmote (local carrier) only 2G & "allow 2G" in settings
There are many users that still complained about but there isn't a clear, robust fix for this. We believe that another reason is that pixels don't use 4G for making phonecalls (in unsupported countries/ carriers) but only 3G/2G, so many carriers due to 5G emergence abolished the 3G antennas and the calls go only to 2G. In Greece, most of the users have problem with Cosmote that has totally abolished 3G antennas, while Vodafone still uses them. Hence, the combination of the signal from LTE (4G) which falls to 2G, to make a call, and the bad collaboration of SIM + eSIM remain the problem.
Most of the users were forced to make root & put magisk to unlock the 5G, VoLTE and VoWiFi and that helped to make calls through 4G. This module works ONLY in Vodafone Greece because maybe it' s an international carrier. We also wait for an updated magisk module for Cosmote carrier to unlock the VoLTE/VoWiFi in spite of the 5G works.
Hello, I'm suffering from this issue too in unsupported country Slovakia with both SIM physical and eSIM from Telekom.
Btw hidden menu triggers with *#*#4636#*#*
I will try this method with 2G only and will give you feedback, thank you for suggestion, it may help many lives
Edit: it didnt help, also tried with 3G only
Guess we will wait for another fix update or its hardware problem

I'm surprised that it didn't help! Try to swap the SIMs if the carrier is different.
Carrier is the same, one physical SIM is used for calls/sms and second eSIM one for data.
Does anyone managed to fix this issue? Its really annoying, sometimes I cant even accept the calls, but everytime I check signal during drop call/fail there is some signal.
Already tried to join beta of Carrier services app but didnt help.
Thanks for any suggestions

I have the exact same combination as the OP. I use cosmote for data and Vodafone for everything else. I think that vowifi and volte work with the magisk patch. I use this one https://github.com/swangjang/Pixel-Redbull-Carrier-Patch
Which I believe has the corresponding cosmote mbn.

I guess you're right. Cosmote doesn't support volte or vowifi.I was under the impression that both Sims supported it. I rarely use that SIM card for calls anyway. I'll try to enable it from cosmote side and report back.
I think I found the way to fix my drop calls/failed/no signal issues, hope it helps someone
Just disable 2G on eSIM (for data) and enable only 3G/2G + disable VoLTE for SIM (calls)

This is about the only complaint I have with my phone. I don't understand how iPhone and Pixel can customize the phone settings on the fly for SIM swaps but Samsung requires a full reboot. Is there some universal US CSC I can force to both SIMs that will stop this behavior and just apply the APN settings like any other device? I managed to get the phone to let me skip rebooting once by force closing the SIM Manager at just the right time but I haven't been able to replicate it since. I have 5 SIMs that I swap between, this is a rather inconvenient problem.

5 SIMS??? You James Bond 007 or Ethan Hunt? Should you choose to accept this mission your phone will now self destruct.
As far as I'm aware making them esims seems to fix that problem. Then instead of switching physical Sims you'd be switching active esims. I have a feeling that samsung did this to push more people to use esim so that eventually they could stop putting in sim slots
I have physical SIM and I change SIMs on daily basis and I dont need reboot.

Everytime you activate a new carrier's SIM, it switches CSC which required a reboot. You can disable this by connecting your phone to your computer and using AdbAppControl to disable CIDManager. Then the phone will not switch anymore or restart, and will be stuck on whatever CSC it was in before you disabled it.

Should I force my phone to use XAA first then? Seems like that is the universal US unlocked CSC from what I have read?
I'm new to the whole CSC thing. I only even really knew about it because I help people with phone plans and stuff on Reddit and the CSC issue has caused a lot of problems with prepaid carriers at times.

5 SIMS??? You James Bond 007 or Ethan Hunt? Should you choose to accept this mission your phone will now self destruct.

Nah just a phone junkie lol. I have Boost Infinite as my primary, Tello as my secondary. I have an AT&T Prepaid, T-Mobile Test Drive, and Verizon Test Drive as well. I'll try basically anything that has an eSIM and free or cheap service lol. MobileX is the next on the list for me.

As far as I'm aware making them esims seems to fix that problem. Then instead of switching physical Sims you'd be switching active esims. I have a feeling that samsung did this to push more people to use esim so that eventually they could stop putting in sim slots

What CSCs do you have? Settings > About phone > Software information. The XXX,XXX/XXX,XXX field under the service provider software version?

Should I force my phone to use XAA first then? Seems like that is the universal US unlocked CSC from what I have read?

That's not your CSC in use. OXM is a multi-carrier CSC, not the ones being used currently. I told you exactly how to get what CSCs are in use.
Unfortunately it wouldn't really matter anyway since you're on the B model and I'm on the U1. Different package of CSCs.
