Hi everyone,
I've been struggling finding a decent call recorder for this model. Have tested everything: ACR phone (both from Play Store and the latest accessibility-enabled version from alternative stores), Cube ACR, OnePlus Call Recorder, Callmaster, etc. But none of them work reliably, sometimes you can't hear the other person, sometimes the call is not recorded, sometimes there are many gaps/silences in calls (like it was not recording), and so on.
I've seen that by rooting the device one can use ACR Phone with full two-way support, but I'm reluctant to that. Don't want to lose Google Wallet, banking apps or Netflix, unable to pass Safety Test and the likes.
Does anyone know if there's any reliable option available?

Thanks, tried but no luck. I can't change the region on my phone (there's no additional settings menu on the 10T?? Weird), so the record option it's not showing up in any of the 2 dialers
Hi guys,
Found a solution !
1.Go to Developer Options.
2.Scroll to an option near the end of the list called Disable Permission Monitoring --> Enable it.
3. Install JOneplus Tools + Oppo Dialer + Phone-IncallUI.
4. Connect PC and Open ADB. Write Command " adb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS "
5. Open JOnePlus Tools and Enable Call Recorder.
6. Set app Contact as Default and Disable Google Dialer.
7. Enjoy. No Google Dialer Bubble

It worked for me! But on rebooting the record option disappears... Any solution for that?
Also, I noticed I have to tap on "record" for each call, and would like to record automatically all of them, do you know if this is possible?
Edit: still not a good solution. The recording option can come back on reboot by manually opening joneplustools, but then it goes away from time to time. For instance, if you receive a call, OPPO dialer shows up and you have to tap on the bubble (which is OnePlus dialer) to be able to record the call, which is annoying. But moreover, if you make an outgoing call afterwards, the record button has disappeared again, so you have to open again joneplustools and toogle call recorder option

Hi, i plan to develop some app, which will be recording calls, and i would like to use class MediaRecorder with parameter VOICE_CALL. I dont need this app to work on multiple phone models, i need to find just one model which is able to record calls. The best choice would be model which has "native" support of call recording and no customizations(root, custom roms, kernels) are needed.
This app has list of supported devices, does it mean that all listed devices are able to record calls with MediaRecorder?

I try many apps in the past for some my problem, and :
Auto Call Recorder: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder&feature=search_result
Call Recorder: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=polis.app.callrecorder&feature=search_result
(and others apps too, but this two are the best in my opinion)
The best option (for me) is Auto Call Recorder, so I bought that apps (the version without ads). It's a very good apps with many configurations. I recommend you look the apps al take an idea of the options. It's simple, and powerful (great combination).
i am not looking for existing application, i am trying to find some phone which is able to record phone calls using android Class MediaRecorder.
I recommend Chinese phones. That apps say in the "about us" and in the "FAQ", they use android Class MediaRecorder (not Root Requiered)
But have a problem, in brand phones (like motorola milestone 2 or samsung) only record from the speaker and not from the Call
I don't have that problem because I use Chinese Phone (Star x18i and LT18i) and work perfect the record from the Call. But in a Milestone of a friend have that problem. Also we root it and try again, so the problem continue.
Try to research that, maybe I'm wrong but maybe not. Search include the Google Play and you found in the comments many persons who say the don't work in "brands phones"
Hello,
I'm curious what software/app you use for dialing with your S4.
Most of the time my phone sits in my pocket and I use BT for voice dial. I've found the current voice dial seems to be a lot more tedious than my S3. Confirming who I want to call and half the time on confirm - e.g. call Mary Smith at work - there are two numbers what number would you like to call - I press the work number and then it says do you want to call Mary Smith at work and I will say YES and then it goes I can't find yep in your phone book and I have to start all over.
Is there a way to switch off confirmations? Is there a way to switch which voice dialer (I tried VLINGO but it no longer supports BT dial).

I use the headset that came with the S4. Long press on the bottom button and make my calls when driving. I haven't hooked up my S9 to it yet but then again that one is a stereo headphone headset so it goes in both ears.

Thanks. I should have been more specific. I'm curious about the voice dial software people are using and if there are any options within the S4.

I was having a similar problem. Except I wanted to change the default application that was launched when I hit my bluetooth function button in my car. It was launching SVoice by default. SVoice really sucks on my phone when it is connected to my car's bluetooth. Not so with my wife's S4. Not sure why.
I wanted to use Google Search- works flawlessly for making calls, navigation and finding points of interest, weather... but cannot do as much as SVoice or a few of the other apps available. Anyway- a couple weeks I did a series of searches and found the solution on these forums but can't find the the thread anymore...
So in case you are wondering how to change what is launched: you have to go into application manager (under settings) and disable svoice. Now, when you launch one of these apps it will ask you to pick a new default. If you would like to launch Google Search you have to download the app Bluetooth Launch which lets you assign any app to launch when bluetooth function button is pushed. You choose com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity in the bluetooth launch app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kin.bluetooth_launch&hl=en
I tried a lot of other apps in the app store like vlingo, assistant, skyvi, maluuba, dragon voice, etc... a lot of them had problems with voice recognition, but had a lot more functionality. Oh and vlingo still supports bluetooth... The one that seemed to have the best voice recognition was assistant.... which i may eventually switch to.

So I finally tried the latest dragon (I think they took over vlingo and their newer version supports BT). It BLOWS the doors off Svoice and google voice dial. I don't need to play music or anything else via BT command so I don't know if it is good or not for that sort of stuff but for calling my contacts from my exchange account, it is nearly flawless. I've only tested for a day but so far so good. If it ends up having issues, I'll be sure to post back.

So with Call Recording working on all versions of the S4 using the WanamLite ROM I am wondering about how it could be taken further to more closely mimic the features of apps like Call Recorder.
I'm thinking of building some kind of app to run in the background which would automatically enable the record button at the beginning of each call, accounting for the fact that recording can't begin until the other line picks up. This app would also enable auto cleanup similar to Call Recorder.
Any ideas on this or methods to accomplish the same thing another way would be appreciated.

I guess it can be done. If you look at S3, some dev has already done it. He developed and also integarted small app which takes cares about autocall recording feature.

If you are looking for feature ideas; one great one would be to allow the user to create a list of phone numbers to record instead of recording all calls or alternatively, make a list of phone numbers that would never be recorded.

Play store takes very long time to make new version available !
here is a direct link to download new ver 0.91c

Is there anywhere the app indicates the devices have connectivity? And what type they are using currently?
I know you indicated it would be fairly easy to add communications methods to the app, have you considered direct IP? My phone and watch are often on the same wireless network. I just ask because push notifications are usually so slow for - say incoming phone calls.
Looks good!

Same error tried uninstalling the old one and installing the new one and rebooting still same thing.
I gather SWApp link can't work with iPhones?
Is there hope of getting a version of this app through the iPhone store or is Apple too controlling to let functions like this be included in an app they would approve? If not, is there any move afoot to enable true smart to cooperate with iPhones?

Push is slow only if you didn't receive any notification for a while. Once you get one, the following notifications are almost instantaneous. i will add an option to "ping" notification at intervals so that it stay faster. We'll see if it impact battery a lot

Those who have been lucky to upgrade to Wear 2.0 have probably noticed the removed Do Not Disturb toggle synchronization between wearable and phone. Some like it, some not. I didn't like it, so I made an app that does the sync. Currently it only works one way: wearable -> phone. With some hacking, sync is working both ways.
You can find the application in Play Store.
Source, builds and setup instructions are available in github and licensed under Apache 2.0.
Installation instructions for Watch -> Phone sync:
Install phone application and wearable application from on-watch Play Store
Launch application on Phone
Click "Grant Permission" button
Enable Do Not Disturb access permission for application
Make sure all 3 checks in the application pass
Installation instructions for Phone -> Watch sync:
Setup watch ADB
Execute:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure enabled_notification_listeners com.google.android.wearable.app/com.google.android.clockwork.stream.NotificationCollectorService:rkr.weardndsync/rkr.weardndsync.NotificationService
Enable state broadcast in Watch Setup wizard
Currently synchronization phone -> watch is only possible by assigning permissions in ADB. Wear OS doesn't provide management settings. As this is not officially supported - it may not work for everyone or the next Wear version.
I love that something like this is now made, but I have a question. What is the first screenshot in the Google Play Store link for? I thought this was only for DND?
I'd like to install it and find out myself, but my ZenWatch 2 still hasn't received the update.
If your watch isn't updated, then the sync should work out of the box. As for the screenshot, I tried to show that the toggle in the watch will sync to the toggle in the phone. I'm not a designer.
Wonderful little utility. Thank you very much.
Fingers crossed to get phone > watch allowed.
I have a few apps that toggle DND via Tasker on my phone, and having it trigger the watch too would be sweet.
Good news and bad news.
The bad: notification access and all the management is unavailable in Wear. So there will not be an official way to make this work (source).
The good: you can grant the permission in ADB. I tried it and the app can actually switch DND on and off (source).
Having to run a single ADB command will probably not stop the brave people of XDA! So synchronization should eventually come to the watch, just give me some time to fix the current bugs.
Bonus news: AudioManager can be used in android <6 for sound modes. Haven't looked into that yet.
Thanks for this app, I miss the functionality!
Sync from phone to watch is implemented and functional! v1.5 is being pushed to the Play Store. You just need to enable broadcast from phone in setup wizard and execute this command in the watch:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure enabled_notification_listeners com.google.android.wearable.app/com.google.android.clockwork.stream.NotificationCollectorService:rkr.weardndsync/rkr.weardndsync.HackService

Not work on Huawei Mediapad X2 (android 5.1.1).
I know: "only Android 6+ is supported"... But, maybe, android 5.1 can be added to?..
Thank you!
If it can help, I can access Do Not Disturb on android 5 through Tasker.
But it is called "Interrupt Mode". It can be found here: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/userguide_summary.html search for "Interrupt Mode".

me neither, but maybe this could help?
I'm just curious. What's the difference between this version available in the Play Store (source code available here) and your own? It looks to me as though that blunden may have forked your code.
That's how open source works, you are free to fork it or take it as an inspiration. His code isn't a plain copy paste, it looks like he even has sync to older android versions, which I didn't have time to do.
I can no longer sync both ways after the newest update, v1.6. I can only control DND from both devices from my watch. Anyone else having this problem with v1.6?

The first idea is that app got suspended after the update. Make sure watch app is updated and start the app on phone. I've added a check that will tell you if watch DND permission is granted. If everything passes, then there is probably something weird with the AudioManager. Previous version used the new NotificationManager, but it requires a running service for broadcast events. I've switched to legacy AudioManager that can use a stateless broadcast receiver.
[Edit:] Android 4.3+ support is being pushed. This needed a code refactoring, so bugs are probable.
okk

V1.5 attached.
I would still prefer if you could make a logcat and I could fix the problem for the rest of the people. Just do these steps:
Connect phone to ADB
Enable DND, Disable DND on phone
Enable DND, Disable DND in watch
Run: adb logcat -d > bug_phone.txt

PM the logs and I may try to fix it. It's not the first time android APIs don't work in specific phones.
Just a quick FYI. Version 1.6 works fine here. Nexus 6 / Pure Nexus 7.1.1 / Magisk root. Huawei watch AW 2.0 7.1.1 stock.
I can start DND from either watch or phone and the other device enables.
It works when I start Sleep as Android; SaS enables phone DND and that enables DND for AW 2.0, then Tasker via AutoWear triggers theater mode on my watch. One step goodness! :victory:
