LG V60 usb tethering greyed out even with dev opts - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

I recently upgraded to 12 and my LG v60 stopped being able to connect to other devices via usb tethering. My razor kishi no longer works and I can't connect to my PC. usb tether is permanently greyed out even after using the acceleration in developer options. Even select usb configuration isn't working.

[Q] Internet Connection Mode Stopped Working

I've been using the latest release of Tesla Coil, which really is a great ROM and I have had no problems up until now.
I have been tethering just fine via USB, using HTC's Internet Connection Mode whilst we change ISPs, but for some reason this morning it refuses to work.
I plug in the USB cable, I get the prompt on the phone and select ICM and then... nothing! The device isn't detected by Windows 7 (it had been coming up as HTC Ethernet Adapter 9k, or something similar.)
I tried enabling it by going into Settings -> Wireless & Networks - Internet Connection Mode, I check the box, get the little Mobile Hotspot prompt and then ICM becomes unchecked again.
I'm pretty new to Android and really, I solved my problem by using Barnacle Wifi Tether, but I really want to learn why this has happened and how to fix it

wifi usb tether method pc to phone

This is to connect Windows 7 pc to your android phone and use the phones wifi connection to use internet on PC. Linux coming, Mac Os users phone Steve.
On your phone sttings under wireless and network look for
Tethering and portable hotspots
1.enable/check usb tethering
2.enable USB debugging,
3.then install this app below
You also need android/phone usb drivers.
connect phone and pc.
Under windows network connections you will see the A. pc wirelless connection see B. Android USB Remote NDIS network ( this is your phones connection )
BRIDGE both these by selecting both A+B and bridging
Once bridge is made right clip > properties > version 4 TCP> properties select obtain ip adress automatically. apply quit you should be able to connect.
Wi Fi tether app

Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
does the phone act as WiFi card?? and we get internet on PC.
actually, there's no need for extra app for this.
I've used my ace tethering directly, and work nicely on win7
connect to a hotspot from ace, and then enable usb tether. my pc get net connectivity, without any setting needed, at all
note : i'm in ginger (using blackhawk rom)
I am not able to connect, I can not bridge between mobile phone and my connection ...
The connection I am using on my computer is a portable connection
broadband connection

Enable USB tethering on Mac OS X?

I was wondering how I enable USB tethering on my Mac? I followed the settings on the link below, however I installed VMWare Fusion so I could root my phone, and when I plug it in with the USB cable there I do not get a window that pops up saying a new network is found. Therefore, when I go to System Preferences>Network, I am selecting the "Built-in Serial Port" to add a new interface. Does anyone know how to do it?

Also, I have USB debugging enabled and I have tried with and without USB tethering enabled...
I don't have an apple, but I am pretty sure the process should be the same from the phone side. You should have USB debugging on, then after you plug the phone into the computer you need to go to settings>wireless & network>tethering & portable hotspot>USB tethering and make sure the box is checked. After I check that box, the new network device shows up on my computer, so it should be the same on a mac.
However, I'm not sure the rest of that guide will work for our phone. The APN this phone uses is completely different.
I do all of that on my phone, but when I enable USB tethering I do not see the network interface, so I add a new network and I entered these settings but when I try to connect it will not:
Telephone Number: *99#
Account Name: [email protected]

Eh, nevermind. Read the original post incorrectly.
MACs are technically running Linux now in days
and I know by a fact our phone works perfectly for USB tethering without any special settings
on my Linux laptop, i just plug in my phone to the normal USB cable,
go to the phone settings to enable USB tethering, and Ta ta... a new network connection automatically becomes available on the network menu
and if select to use the new "network card" or "network interface" then my internet uses the phone as the new wireless network, and no, it's not the same as a WiFi, it sees it as another Ethernet device
my computer doesnt show the phone in the network settings. what can i do to get it to show up?

Technically yes but practically I've never got native USB tether working on a Mac except with HTC sense ROMs. So far I've been using an app called easytether.

It sounds like your PC is trying to use the phone as a modem, i.e. USB tethering. The PC routes packets out to your phone instead of going out over the ethernet or WiFi connection. Your carrier is probably blocking USB tethering, so you get no internet on your PC.
Disabling MTP disables the USB tethering, so that is why the problem goes away when MTP is turned off.
I can't verify this solution, but I would try to disable USB tethering. On my phone (stock verizon version running 4.0.4) this is done under settings/techering/enable USB tethering, which you want un-checked. I think this option is only available after you are plugged into PC.

Connect Mate 20 pro to internet via ethernet cable

I have an ethernet to USB-C adapter, which I have connected to the phone, but I am not able to connect the Mate 20 to internet via cable.
Any particular trick to enable this?
You can do it, working out how to add screenshots from phone.
Here you go. I added the screenshots off the phone with cellular data and wifi disabled and USB ethernet active.
Enable developer options if not already, enter the settings for that and scroll down to "Select USB Configuration" and press that for the options. You're looking for the RNDIS (USB Ethernet) setting.
Mine works. Updating apps via Google Play on it right now and it's fast.
Also downloaded the entire map of the UK for Here Maps and it worked well.
Fantastic, working as we speak! Thank you
How about the other way around - use Mate's mobile connection to provide internet to a small router, via an USB typeC ethernet adaptor?
