Can’t back up roms - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone I have problems with backing up Roms! Should I use only as card for the back up? Also is there an app I can do it ? Or manually from twrp? And what to tick to back up ?
Thanks in advance

What are your issues with TWRP?

Backing up currect rom?

Hi,
I want to put a new room on my phone.
Is it possiable to backup the currect rom in case i would like to go back to it?
Thanks a lot
Yes, before flashing your new rom, you'll have to boot into your Custom Recovery. Then select Nandroid back-up. This will back-up your current rom completely and allows you to go back to it, no matter what.

Once a week i backup my ROM after downloading updates for apps and delete the previous backup, always back it up via the CWM app, takes about 5 minutes

that's the one, don't wipe anything if you don't want to.
didn't imagine it would be so simple, thats why i didn't changed the rom yet.
Thank u

My screen stays on all the time...

Hi guys,
I don't know very well what to do. The screen timer to turn it off from the display settings menu is at 1min, but it can stay hours on. Somehow the setting is being overriden, so I take it may be another app doing so? DO you know what may be causing it? Or how to investigate it?
Thank you!

Don't flash a new ROM, but don't just factory reset either.
Have you installed any apps before you noticed the screen staying on? Some apps will not let the screen sleep.
Check what apps you've installed since the change. Are you rooted and have you granted any apps Superuser permissions?
I'm guessing reboot doesn't work, sometimes Titanium backup or another backup program can mess with settings if you restore them, especially if it is a different version of Android. Did you do that by any chance?

How to update a rooted phone already TWRP installed

Dear all
I have rooted my phone long time ago, installed TWRP. I never updated, but now, always they want me to update, but of course, it doesn't work because of the root.
Isn't there a simple solution, just to flast the new rom via TWRP? Preferably keeping the root?
I am at the end of my understanding
Thanks and regards

I would say, back up your apps with e.g. titanium backup and then flash (with fullwipe) something like xpower...
Thats the easiest and trouble free method.

You can find some update zips out here on the forum's or u can make one yourself (search for the guide) but I wouldn't recommend update via zip as it is likely to introduce some issues.
The best way is to backup your apps and data, and internal SD card and then flash a full ftf via flashtool.
It's a bit more work then flashing via twrp but you won't have strange battery drain and bugs no one else has.
In my opinion this is the only way to upgrade to a newer firmware and I do this every time.

Odd issues after restoring IMEI (Global RN4)

Hello everyone
Yesterday while restoring a backup of my rom, I also restored the firmware (didn't know I wasn't suppose to do that :/) and lost my IMEI etc.
I fixed that by flashing a stock rom suggested on another thread.
That fixed the IMEI and everything.
I restored my rom (correctly this time) and got everything back (I'm on Cardinal)
But now my gyroscope and accelerometer are acting weird.
I used an app to test and saw it was really erratic, jumping from side to side etc.
Now I have no idea where to go from here.
Any help would be great
Thanks

You can always flash the firmware file, if you want.
Do that, it should fix (most probably)

The stock firmware? (the one with MIUI)
How do I go about doing that?
Through TWRP?

If the rom you restored is aosp based then the firmware which you have for aosp roms, but if you have miui then installing miui again will fix it.

I restored a backup of a Lineage based rom, that's what cause the problem with the IMEI vanishing in the first place.
And I've read that the persist.img is what can fix the accelerometer... So confusing.

Oh man this totally fixed the issue.
Thanks a lot.
I thought I'd have to flash an official firmware and start from scratch.
You saved me a lot of time.
Thank you very much

Can anyone send me a system.img?

Hey, I've been trying to get TWRP working with avb2.0 and in the course of that deleted my system partition. This leads to my phone being stuck in a boot loop.
Since I can still access fastboot and flash images from there, could someone make a full backup of his/her phone and PM me or alternatively mail me the files (mail after you PMed, otherwise I'll get spammed)
I'll link you to a working TWRP in return.
Thanks for your help
What kind of image do u want

Hey doublewinter,
thanks for your reply. I already fixed it by flashing stock ROM from TWRP (could've thought of that sooner..) but thank you for trying to help
Regarding TWRP, in theory it should be able to flash a custom ROM, however I didn't find any yet. I'm currently trying to flash GApps but I'm having some issues with that right now.
It's not made by me though, all credit goes to youyim123 (I simply nagged him to release ) I'll make a post about it soon, explaining the details of how to flash and access it.
