Hey guys,
I consider myself pretty switched on but I can't understand how exactly the " ramdisk extraction utility" is used to flash TWRP.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it is used to unpack a boot.img file into separate files, one of which is the recovery. It then repacks it and allows it to be flashed via "fastest flash boot boot.img"
Ive found tools that repack boot.img files but all appear to be for Linux.
Can someone assist me by guiding me to a tutorial or offer step by step instructions on flashing TWRP onto my z2?
Basically all I want to do is understand how to flash any recovery I want when running a custom rom.
P. S - can someone explain the concept of why it dosnt work when I try to install TWRP as described in their website with
*terminal emulator or in adb shell:
su
dd if=/sdcard/fotakernel.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel
Thank you.
Nothing guys?
Im not sure how to help you
1. Install fastboot
2. Use fastboot to flash recovery
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
3. You need a custom kernel
4. Find a kernel that supports fotakernel(recovery partition fyi)
Hello. I have d605 with 20g and root via kingroot. I want flash varcains CWM. But when i execute loki flash, it says loki aboot version does not match device and fails. When i try flash zip for flash from other recovery - try flash via stock 3e recovery, it says instalaion aborted and error 255. So i want flash it via app Flashify, but its risk. Did someone already tried it? And how to do it? Select flash zip (in flashify) and select cwm*.zip or unpack recovery.img and select flash recovery (in flashify) and put unpacked recovery img?
PS it can be also twrp, i want just working recovery for flash CM11
Thanks for help.

Features:
1 - Flash boot and recovery .img without even needing to go to recovery.

Which means you have to extract recovery.img from the zip file and flash recovery.img via flashify.
When I select flaah recovery in Flashify and select CWM .zip, it says i have to select file with .img file. And in that zip is the recovery.img file.

I think I explained it in a fairly simple way. You need the .img file, NOT THE .ZIP file.
It doesnt work . I unpacked recovery.img from cwm.zip. Then opened Flashify and selected recovery flash, and put unpacked recovery.img (before it i make recovery backup). It said flash successful and then i used reboot recovery. But it shows only black screen with text like "fastboot mode stared udf start". I must remove battery and put back, then it normal booted to android... Reboot to recovery always open the black screen with that text and is needed battery remove (fixed via recovery restore from backup in flashify, then reboot recovery opens stock 3e recov.)
Please What now? Thx
Guys Now i had unlocked Bootloader officially
so, Now I wanted To Flash TWRP recovery
Now i am Gloable ROm V7.1.8.0
So my question Is
1) should i need to flash modified BOOT image or sholud I flash Directly TWRP
2) Should I flash LAtest TWRP recovery or cofface Twrp !!
THANKS
There's answers around here use search.
First time flashing twrp with fastboot you need to flash a modified boot image as well.
Either TWRP version would be fine.
Hi people, twrp recovery v3.0.2 of androidlover is very good
In order to flash this recovery on stock recovery or if cwm was already installed
Try this method: download recovery.tar from the twrp recovery thread and then extract to obtain recovery.img .use this recovery.img and flash recovery.img using rashr app .this method works 100%
Hit thanks if it was helpfull
I'm unlocked. Have drivers. Downloaded Twrp.img. can get into bootloader. Type fastboot devices in adb. Get serial number. But when I type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img I get errors. Help.
@lowvolt1 First off what is your device model? Much of the time nowadays depending on what device you are using you boot the recovery.img and then either install to recovery ramdisk or using a twrp installer zip that's pre-made to install your recovery. But how can anyone help you if you don't say what device you're using?
Boot recovery: fastboot boot twrp_11-5.0xxx.img then install it to ramdisk or use twrp zip and flash the zip after booted to twrp. Depends on device.
