Hi, I am using a oneplus 7t pro mclaren edition. I have soft-bricked the device. I tried to change the filesystem in twrp to f2fs when i was in stock rom (I know it was a stupid mistake). Now the boot and recovery partitions are destroyed. I can boot to actual fastboot mode. Tried to use payload dumper but whenever it tries to boot fastbootd it says
fastboot: error: Failed to boot into userspace fastboot; one or more components might be unbootable.
Tried erase everything I got the following error using "fastboot -w"
Erasing 'userdata' OKAY [ 0.229s]
/home/abhijith/Documents/op7t/output/make_f2fs failed with status 1
fastboot: error: Cannot generate image for userdata
I have heard of MSM unbrick tool but as far as i know it only works in windows , before installing VM with windows , I want to know if there is any other way i can recover my device. I have a11 fastboot rom and a12 stock rom. Please help
I have exactly the same problem, same errors etc. if I find any solution I'll post it here. Can't use my phone until then I guess. It all happened after my phone was bricked after trying to install TWRP (previously used LineageOS Recovery).
I followed this guide which resulted in the same errors as for you: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ock-fastboot-roms-for-oneplus-7t-pro.3991189/
Okay, I managed to unbrick my phone, but you won't like the (probably only) solution:
- You NEED Windows (7-10) for this, as the tools are only available on this platform, sadly
- There is this one Indian Guy that will save you:
- Includes how to install all drivers and how to get your phone into COM Mode
- This uses the MSM tool. For 1+ 7T Pro, get it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4002909/
- This is going to STOCK RESET you phone 100%, meaning that your bootloader will be locked etc.
- If you get into any Chinese menu after the phone reboots, you can use Google Lens for translation
I can't believe this worked because it just feels so hacky, but trust me, it's a good last resort as you can always put your phone into COM Mode, regardless of how hard you messed up the system [citation needed].

Follow the video. When all drivers are installed and you hold both volume buttons while the device is off, it will show up as a COM/serial device for a few seconds before booting.
Important: Only connect the cable while already pressing the buttons or it won't work.
I was able to get to edl mode and msm tool was detecting but now i am facing sahara communication error i dont have official cable so maybe that might be the reason will try that also
@Colin_T Thanks for the help. I was able to install stock rom to my oneplus 7t pro. I really want to install pixel experience, in the instructions it is saying flash oos 12 firmware. But in the official website i am only seeing 11. What to do?

I seem to have completely knackered my phone and maybe someone can help. I've spent days trying to install a custom rom on my G8 power XT2041-3. The bootloader was unlocked. I had TWRP on it and couldn't figure out why I couldn't go to fastbootd to install the Resurrection Remix ROM or HavocOS ROM. Eventually I found the stock firmware for my device and flashed the stock recovery.img to replace TWRP. I was hopeful when I finally saw fastbootd on my screen and went ahead to flash boot.img (all seemed fine) followed by flash system of the custom ROM. It got to 3/3 and then said something about Failed: Operation not Permitted. I can't remember the exact wording now and can't try again because my phone is pretty much useless.
If I try to power on my phone it takes ages trying to boot (alternately between the bootloader unlocked warning and the big M for Motorola), but eventually I get a message saying:
Boot Failed. Press Power Key to Retry
No bootable A/B slot
Failed to boot Linux, falling back to fastboot
Fastboot Reaso: Fall through from normal boot mode
Nothing seems to work. I can't boot into any recovery. The phone won't start at all apart from this very basic looking bootloader. My device is recognised by fastboot devices but that's about it. I can't flash fastboot commands. I tried flash partition gpt.bin. I tried to flash recovery.img again. A few things. But nothing works.
I'm using Linux so can't download RSD Lite that I wanted to try or the Motorola Research and Smart Assistant. Does anybody have any suggestions please? I'm at my wits end with the thing.
Thanks

If you don't have a windows running computer, you can try a virtual machine with Virtual Box to emulate a Windows computer and try the Motorola Research and Smart Assistant

Thank you very much for that. I'd never heard of Virtual Box before. I'll have more time tomorrow to install it and see how I get on. Hopefully I can fix it because I think I'm all out of other options. Much appreciated!
Hi guys been spending all night trying to figure out but seems nothing is working. HELP! I know i can get it to work.
So tried to root my A2017G previously but saw all the horror brick stories so ended up just doing the multiple OTA updates via SDCARD upgrade.zip and finally ended up with OREO BO3 version. running fine except for ridiculous battery meter levels playing up but just kept it charged most of the time.
1) at first I tried to check bootloader unlock status from fastboot. But somehow unable to as fastboot is not there! So i thought maybe fastboot is corrupt (stock recovery options ok / also power plus down gets stuck in FTM mode (easy to reboot with adb command) So unable to check bootloader (i am thinking its probably still locked)
2) so got latest version of TWRP 3.3 something and flashed it --> result in phone black screen but detectable (I assume in EDL mode.) '
3) Tried to flash Nougat B10 EDL with EDL tool (working now but after everything is ready to flash it says"" 13:02:38: {ERROR: WritePort:5164 Could not write to '\\.\COM8', Windows API WriteFile failed! Your device is probably *not* on this port, attempted 100 times""
4) MiFlash unable to read hello packet. But i tried pressing power and connecting quickly and suddenly starts flashing B10 nougat EDL ROM but doesnt complete with a "function: sahara_rx_data:237, unable to read packet header" error. Should I be using a stock rom with Meta-INF folder rather than the EDL version? Also should i be flashing OREO stock rom rather than nougat with MiFlash? or it doesnt matter?
5) tried the DFU tool initially qualcomm and com8 detected but says disconnected. (so its in EDL probably but somehow still disconnected?
So currently
1) trying to let the phone battery run out, though i doubt its any use as i probably bricked it installing twrp without unlock bootloader on OREO.
2) Also downloading Oreo stock rom to try and flash with miflash.
Any help or point to some discussion i missed would be helpful thanks. Just wanna get root and GPS tools running so I can let the kids catch some Pokemon without GOing outside.
Seems like the battery had to run out first. Then it started recharging . After about 5 mins I just pressed power button without up or down. Phone rebooted nicely back into Oreo. PhEW... Then i used a stock 2017g EDL for nougat B10 (7.1.1) and flashed with Miflash by going into proper EDL (used ADB reboot EDL command)
Ok some more small hiccups along the way but being able to access EDl i managed to flash TWRP 3.2.1 and then load it up and flash SuperSU for root.
Now to read the threads on how to get rid of the bootloader unlock screen as well as load in the battery saving scripts.
Hi, I have a semibrick on my X3 Superzoom (Global), and I can't seem to restore the original firmware. When it was working properly, I think the phone was updated to the latest version available in Europe (RMX2081EU_11.A.50), hence Realme UI 1.0.
I do not remember very well what I did, it's been a few weeks since my "screw up", I must have flashed an untrusted firmware, the thing is that when rebooting the screen looks black and goes into a continuous bootloop, but allows to enter fastboot mode with power + Vol down (I know because I can launch fastboot commands). Curiously, when it goes into bootloop you don't see the Realme logo, I discovered that the logo is there but with the screen illumination at minimum, and you can only glimpse a little if you put it under a lamp. Very strange.
Since it can go into fastboot mode I have tried flashing several firmwares for my phone, RMX2086 and none of them repair brik. I have tried always by command line because with MsmDownloadTool I don't have login access and with Realme Flash Tool always shows error "cannot find central directory", I have tried also with QFil and I can't get it to stay stable on the port.
I flash with command line with "fastboot flash" all .img files of super, recovery, boot, boot, dtbo, vbmeta (in that order) but it does nothing. Furthermore, I have tried with several ofp files like for example the following file from realmefirmware.com, which seems to be the last released full version of Realme UI 2.0 (I have tried also with Realme UI 1.0 versions):
RMX2086GDPR_11_C.11_2022011318270168.zip (I decrypt the ofp file inside to extract the .img files.).
Interestingly, I can flash TWRP Recovery (it works, and you see the screen with normal TWRP recovery) and from the recovery I can flash a Custom Recovery like PixelPlusUI. The phone boots (no logo visible) in CustomROM normally, but after a while of use the screen turns off but working ROM.
What should I do? Although I have some flashing experience, I'm pretty much stuck. Can anyone give me any suggestions?
Sorry with making it so long, but I wanted to explain this as best as possible so it is well understood.
When you already upgrades to Android 11, you can not flash custom rom, otherwise it bricks, because all the custom roms required android 10 ROM system, you may downgrade using flash tool (I tried but failed to flash any stock rom using any tool, only able to flash using fastboot commands)

It's been over a year since it happened, I didn't find a solution on my own, and since it was still under warranty, I sent it to the official technical service and a couple of weeks later I received it back with the firmware working.
I am currently trying to install LineageOS on my phone. I personally have never unlocked or reinstalled a new operating system on my phone. I looked on some XDA forums for some guides and i found one and followed the steps. I unlocked my phone and I installed a custom TWRP because I was trying to downgrade the phone back to android 11. Once i was done flashing the file to the phone and rebooted it doesn't boot anymore and only gives me a booting screen for a few seconds after I hold down the power and volume up button for a few seconds nothing else works. I have use the MSM tool and put my phone into EDL mode and it detected the phone with a black screen. Every time I use the tool it works till about 18% then it gives me a Sahara communication failed error and then my phone gets out of EDL mode.. I installed all the drivers needed on my PC and used multiple USB 2.0 slots but it still fails. Any help would be appreciated.
There are warnings in the TWRP thread for the N200 that it is broken and should not be flashed.
I have written an easy to follow guide here to downgrade to A11 with Fastboot Enhance.
Unfortunately, now that you have used MSMTool on the phone, it is now bootloader LOCKED. This tool should be the last resort only if you are already hard bricked. You could have gotten the phone into fastboot if either boot.img was still intact and re-flashed the rom with a still unlocked bootloader. The phone will change slots after so many failed boots.
Now that your boot loader is locked, the only tool that can modify the phone is MSMTool. If you can get into Recovery, do delete user data and try again.
Otherwise, you will need to get an RMA and send phone back to OP.

Sorry I should have written more details but I currently have a hard bricked device. It will not boot and It failed to boot like 20 times. It will not enter fastboot or even get past the logo when you first turn it on. I did use MSM tool after it wasn't letting me into fastboot. Thanks for the help and I will send it back.

Fix Sahara communication failed error in MSM Download Tool
In this tutorial, we will show you how to fix the Sahara communication failed and other related MSM Download Tool errors.
www.droidwin.com
Hello
I tried to flash a custom rom on my Nord N10 --> [ROM][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 18.1 [OnePlus Nord N10/billie] <--
At 47%, the flash stopped. I tried it a several times but always with the same result.
I did a factory reset in twrp, since then all was gone from internal storage.
And now I'm unable to flash ANY rom on the device.
I tried a lot of ways: flashing stock rom with stock recovery, flashing different custom roms in twrp and other recoveries, Msmtool, extracting payload.bin and flash all the images in fastboot (I followed the commands at the bottom of this page), ... but I haven't got the result I wanted.
I even got into "Qualcom crash dump mode". That's when I tried to use the MsmDownloadTool but it wouldn't recognize any COM port.
I can transfer .zip files to the internal storage when using twrp, but flashing always fails (see attached file).
Sideloading in PE or Lineage recovery works, but flashing fails (2nd attached file).
Overview:
Positives:
bootloader is unlocked
fastboot is accessible
fastboot commands are working so I'm able to flash by fastboot command
recovery is accessible and different versions can be flashed
internal storage is accessible and copying files is possible (though, folders like Android, DCIM, downloads, etc... are all gone)
Negatives
Msmtool doesn't recognize the COM ports
some images (like vendor.img) can't be flashed in fastboot when extracted from the rom by using Payload Dumper
error shown in twrp (file attached)
neither can a rom be flashed in PE recovery or Lineage recovery
Anyone able and wanting to help or provide a link to a tutorial? I don't care which rom is installed, I just want to get the phone working again and at this point I fail to see what I'm doing wrong.
Kind regards
Its been a while since I used the N10, but I can at least help with the MSM tool: note that the MSM tool uses what is called EDL mode, which is basically a hardware (ROM) backed loader. If the phone isn't physically damaged, EDL should work no matter what you did to the partitions. It is lower level than the bootloader lock, so that shouldn't matter.
(Disclaimer: each EDL mode phone uses a signed loader, which can restrict what memory is read or written to... so technically, you could brick the phone and not be able to get it back if the loader won't let you write to a particular block. That said, I've never seen OnePlus phones unrecoverable, and if you can get the bootloader and fastboot back, you can then write to anything from FB that the partition table lets you, although that is subject to unlocking the bootloader at that point. It's why I'm probably OnePlus for life unless they do something stupid.)
Anyway, you have to get the phone in EDL mode. Off the top of my head, power it off, hold both volume keys down, then insert the USB cable. You will have a ** SHORT ** time period- like 5 sec - where the USB port will be identified as a Qualcomm 9008 (or whatever) and the MSM tool will see it. Have the tool running, and put your mouse over the "start" button, so you hit it in the window.
To be clear, EDL mode is NOT the same as crashdump mode, and any other mode than EDL will NOT be recognized by the MSM tool as valid.
Hope that helps!
I'll look into it and give it a try. Thanks!

Couldn't get into EDL mode (I tried EVERYTHING). I updated/repaired the Qualcomm drivers, re-flashed another version of twrp and was able to flash this rom in twrp after I copied the rom to the sd card. It worked, the N10 is back alive again.
