Which G8 2020 power to buy? - Moto G Power Questions & Answers

My old rooted Z2 Play is getting tired. So which G8 Power is best to root for Verizon in the US? XT2041-4, XT2041-6, XT2041-7, XT2041-DL
Would the -4 and -7 be best? Thanks

Well I found a real nice XT2041-4. Android 11. I unlocked the bootloader. Just got the firmware thru RSA. Next to see how to root.

Okay, rooted and good to go for a few years.

Same for me. I would like to root it but I'm not able to do it myself.
Any developper interested in this work ?
Actually if we are a few of us wanted to root this Toshiba, maybe we could give a gift to the one who can make it ? Don't you think ?
In France, Geant Casino has a good price for it : 215 euros. With the 70 euros cashback from Toshiba for this excite pure AT10-A-104. You have a 10" tablet for 145 euros.
This offer lasts until the 28/02/2014.
Unfortunately Toshiba is not the "unlock boot" for your customers type and anyone who rooted softbricked them and lost their warranty. I got the next day and switch it with the LG G Pad 8.3 which has a way to root it as long as you have access to Linux PC/Laptop. It's not easy but if you soft brick it you can recover it since it has support here in xda. Also the Tegra 3 is a bit outdated, the LG scored 3-4.000 more points more in Quadrant Benchmark and in Antutu was 2 positions behind LG G2 and topped HTC One X, with the custom Rom in Quadrant. I'm so sorry for Toshiba because after that I won't buy another one if the root is not possible and won't unlock the bootloader like Samsung and Motorola finally did.
Official answer on my question about unlocking bootloader or official update to 4.4
At this time there are no plans or announcements on an update for this tablet to Android 4.4, however we would keep an eye on the Toshiba Service Station option in the settings menu for any possible updates.
The bootloader on this unit is intentionally locked and cannot be unlocked by an end user; this is something that will not be changed in the future.

So yeah, if you still have chance, return this pile of junk.

Does bootloader unlock prevent OTA updates?

Hi guys, I've been out of the Huawei scene for a while, since changing my daily driver away from my Mate 7 (still got the phone though), so unsure of how things work in Huawei world now. My son has purchased a Mate 10 (black) recently (has Mate 7 already also) and with the news of Huawei soon stopping bootloader unlock, I have logged into my Huawei account and got his unlock code before things turn to poo.
If I unlock his Mate 10, will it still take OTA updates like the Mate 7 did? We don't want to root or mod it. Just unlock for the future when Huawei do stop supporting the phone and only then look at custom ROMs that get updates.
Do OTA's re-lock it?
It's on Oreo from new. Apparently it has a notification for OTA update right now, should I unlock it before or after the update?
I feel like a total n00b lol. Even my Axon 7 is locked still. Android is so much better these days that you don't have a pressing need to mod them.
BTW, the Mate 10 is really nice, I would have one for myself too, but the Axon 7 still works great. Shame it doesn't have the amazing battery life of Mate 10 :silly:
Hi, Unlocked Bootloader doesn't prevent OTA Updates or gets relocked on a software update.. But please make sure that you don't have TWRP or any sort of modifications on your device else it'd turn out really bad.. I always download "Full Package" from the Software Update Section in Settings so I can make sure all my important images can be flashed by the update..
Regards
Thanks for that :good:
Ok, well I will get him to do back up of his data and SMS and call logs etc and then I'll unlock it. It's a long weekend here in NSW Australia so he can spend some time setting it up again He needs it for work. Uses the dual SIMs like I do.

Probably better when you do the OTA update first and then unlock the bootloader.
It's now unlocked
Restoring the backup then he can set it up further. Didn't do the OTA first just in case there was a bootloader change in it.
Hopefully that wasn't a mistake.
Edit:
Looks like the update is mainly for face unlock and security patches. Done
P8 lite 2017

New to the S9+, US Tmobile variant and looking to Pie and or root

Hello
I just bought my wife an S9+ locked to T-Mobile which we will use on Simple Mobile. The current firmware is G965USQS3BRK2.
I've been looking around the forums for this device so as to get acquainted, but I seek a bit of guidance. I assume that this model has the Snapdragon processor, right?
She's currently on Oreo, and I would like to root it so that I can remove a lot of the bloatware. I saw the thread with the package names to disable using adb, so I can use that route, I guess. As a phone techie, I would prefer to root!!
Can I flash Pie somehow? Is it possible to have Pie and root?
I appreciate any initial guidance, and I'll go from there.
Yep it has the Snapdragon, for which unfortunately there is no way to root on any firmware at all. As for Pie, word is that T-Mobile has just begun rolling it out so it's probably easiest just to wait for the Pie update to hit her phone.
package disabler will allow you to disable all that bloatware. thats the best option at the moment

Update

Hello everyone!
I just bought the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and I have a question.
I have always had HTC and SuperSU and Magisk but the dev are very fast and I had my update even before their releases.
If I root under magisk My Mate20Pro, I would not have access to the official update anymore?
Because I see that there are only two ROMs, so I do not want to miss the next official update ...
Thank you all!
Because Huawei don't allow bootloader unlocking you'll be extremely lucky if you get a working root. There is someone who says they sell a root (I'm not going to advertise them here - have a look at other threads) but I wouldn't trust them and the prices are ridiculous.
The reason there's so little development for the Mate 20 Pro is because BL unlock and root is not readily available so, if that's what you wanted to do, you've sadly bought the wrong phone.

Can I unlock bootloader of SM-G9910 (Snapdragon) just like any Exynos Version.

-Want to buy snapdragon s21, rooting is must for titanium backup to freeze/unfreeze some apps.
-Repute of Exynos is not good (Officially Available in Pakistan).
- Which Version of Snapdragon S21 is best to unlock Bootloader, in my 2 hours of searching I feel SM-G9910 Which is Chinese or HK options is easier option?
- Will it unlock Bootloader just like Exynos from just developer options without PC?
- Is SM-G9910 the best and only option in Snapdragon and rooting?
(Information is little bit complexed here. using iPhone XS > iPhone 11 Pro from 2 years now. Want to try android now, rooting was easier back in the days when I use to have OnePlus, 2, 3, 3t, 5, 6t, could root it in sleep even.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm seeing mixed results when searching, can anyone confirm if the SM-S9110 Snapdragon has an unlockable bootloader, or if paid service is needed
