Random reboots and "No such file or directory" - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

Yo guys & gals,
Out of nowhere, the tablet started randomly restarting itself. It's not possible to use it anymore as the reboots occur pretty much a moment (at most) after the system boots up (sometimes even earlier).
What I tried so far:
1. Reflashing stock FW (it was never unlocked before, always original from Sammy; I also tried firmware from a different country). I did that a couple of times already.
2. Flashed with Nand Erase and Re-Partition (with the dedicated PIT of course).
The tablet is in mint condition, never dropped, and barely used. The battery is at least in very good condition.
And this is what I get when I enter the bootloader recovery mode:

}
Is it salvable or kaputt? What else can I try?
PS The device doesn't reboot while in download or recovery mode if it helps.

@Umpal Does it give any hints on NAND error when entering download mode?
Saw that once on a different device of mine.
Mine shows attached info.
What do you call a good condition for the battery?
Had devices on which even 50% capacity left led to reboots untill I replaced the battery.
Tried to pull a syslog?
Btw. what you call bootloader is actually the stock recovery.
The bootloader itself is afaik not directly accessible.

@bmwdroid No, no errors in download mode (see attached).
Battery
OK, I can only assume it's in good condition but my assumption is based on the use until the very last moment — the battery was holding great and there were no issues with the charge. Granted, I can't test it now under the system to confirm that but I can leave it on in the recovery or download mode for a very long time (but for the record I didn't measure the exact time). If it was faulty I bet it would power down or restart in those modes too.

No. I've been out of the device "flashing business" for a long time so I need a hint on how to get it.

imho there is a remarkable difference to mine:

Did you search for that?

As your device is unrooted (or isn't it?) I don't know either exactly.
ADB might help but I don't know the commands right now.
something like "pull log" or so.
There're somewhere in XDA

Indeed, I didn't think it might be different from the normal status. And the Internet has some results for this topic. I'll investigate. Thanks @bmwdroid

[Q] [HELP] [WTSR/SMPL] Bricked SGSII by removing Gmaps

Hey guys,
Pretty desperate here, and I've been searching the forums and other pages on the web for a solution, but nothing yet.
I'm afraid I did something pretty stupid. I wanted to update Gmaps, but Play Store gave me the 'not signed correctly, please delete older version' message. So I tried to uninstall the old Gmaps through Settings, but that didn't work.
Than I had this 'brilliant' idea to just hardcore delete Gmaps through Titanium Backup. Well, I did and... BOOM! Black screen, a short boot loop and after that... nothing.
I took out the battery for about 15 minutes and placed it back in, and now I get this weird message saying 'WTSR/SMPL'.
Phone won't start up in Recovery, only Download mode.
Somebody can help me out here?

Flash a stock rom in download mode with Odin, clean slate. Then re-root your phone & you can restore a backup (if you have one).

Thanks for your response so quick, appreciate it.
BTW, are you sure there is no other way? Did you see this WTSR message before?
No probs. No, I've never seen it. But thinking logically; you have no recovery, the phone won't boot normally & you can only get into download mode. You don't really have any other option other than the one I suggested, do you ?

Not sure. The weird thing is: when I press the home button repeatedly, the screen starts flickering from white to black and back. So there's still something alive, don't you think?

its broke! no recovery mode but download works (sorta)

Ok I was sitting at my desk, with the phone on my desk. Not touching the phone, it was on standby/screen off. It was not plugged in to the pc or to any charger.
Suddenly I see the white text samsung I9300 boot logo pop up as if it had rebooted. This text stayed on the screen. I could not do anything other than remove the battery. I put the battery back in, turned phone on, again stuck at the same thing, it does not loop, its like it just hangs. I tried recovery mode but this does not work, again it stays on the S3 logo screen and does nothing. I was using wanamlite 3.7 and had not changed anything on it for ages, it just did this all by itself while sitting on my desk!
I can get into download mode and odin does seem to be able to see the phone so I tried grabbing a stock firmware to flash but odin stops and says "there is no pit partition".

Am I going to be able to get any of my files off the thing now? Let alone get the thing working again.
I tried using adb to see if i could copy files off after reading this http://codebin.co.uk/blog/samsung-galaxy-s3-boot-loop-backup-without-root/ although windows beeps when I plug it in and odin seems to be able to see it, but trying to run adb it says no device found.
Sounds like a motherboard is required, if the product code is blank in download then you have SDS. You can try flashing the rescue firmware, from the general forum, but it is unlikely to succeed.
Warranty will cover this issue but your data is not recoverable.

By product code you mean where the Id says 0 before the [com3] ?
Not sure how long warranty is but its about 18 months old so probably not covered.
Not impressed! it just dropped dead while sitting on the desk doing nothing.
Similar thread same solution >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631210 << like boomboomer said warranty repair if covered
mine got the same issue, except I can do everything through ODIN, I can download rescue firmware (Pit partition is ok), but nothing of that sort helped, I guess it's a common issue after 18 months of usage (coincidentally I've had it for 18 months as well)

It does seem to be a very common issue around the 18 month mark, I've seen loads of reports of similar issues popping up now and this is around 18 months since release.
I took it to carphone warehouse and they are sending it off, up to 14 days to get it back.

"This is a development device not intended for production use"

Hello,
After unrooted and re-locked (bootloader) my Nexus 9.
When i boot it, i got this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
"This is a development device not intended for production use"
After that, I have flashed the stock rom 6.0.1,so I'm 100% stock now, but I still get this message when the device boot
Is it a bug, or my seller sold me a tablet supposed to be not sold?
Do you think I can ask for a replacement? Because I would like to sell it and buy a other tablet... But with this weird message at the boot, I can't expect a lot from it...
Thanks
Strange. I am interested and want to know more.
The warning only recently appeared?

Just after re-locked my device. So i have unlocked it again to flash the last 6.0.1 stock rom, locked the bootloader, and the red message is still here. But I have seen that, if I unclock the bootloader, the message disappears, and if I lock it, the message appear... Strange.
One other thing, (with bootloader locked), I have an ota update, 7,7mb, but when I update, it fail each time
So if I send it to HTC, I think they will change it with a new one, because even with a factory reset, flash stock rom, I don't know what more they can do.
And I have light bleed on the screen, so i really hope they will give me a new one!
That's strange. I don't know whether that red message appears even if you lock the bootloader with everything being stock, but you may try this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-safely-lock-bootloader-android-5-1-t3067302
Edit: If OTA update fails, your device may not be completely stock. Try troubleshooting by consulting the recovery log, or use the "flash-all.bat" to flash stock ROM again.

Ok thanks for your help
I have send an email to HTC to ask for a replacement. I have seen that some people who got the same issue, (even without root or unlock bootloader) got a replacement :fingers-crossed: . And I have ugly light bleed on the screen, so I really hope I will got a replacement too
If the OTA fails then you aren't full stock..
DITTO to downloading the google stock image and flashing using the included flash-all.bat.

TWRP G3 stylus (tested on d690n)

IMPORTANT: your phone needs to be running the lg official lollipop before flashing it
Here's a twrp from the internet that i found.
It includes a Bootloader unlock binary.
so, I've done a tool that automates the installation process
You run it, it'll install twrp and reboot into recovery
If it fails use the tutorial from the original developer

My cell phone gave brick and did not want to start.
When I put the battery and hold the power button it flashes the led 7 times and then it turns off, so I was able to do that process to make the led flash and I need to take the battery and put it back.
The only function I can access is FASTBOOT MODE.

Missing Info in Download mode such as FRP Lock and Warranty void status

Just Picked up a Tab S6 and noticed when booting into download mode im missing all info including FRP Lock and Warranty Void. I would like to check the status of both options. On download mode on the device im only seeing the downloading logo. Are all Tab S6's like this ? Below in the note 9 download mode you can see the extra information.
How can I verify Knox is not tripped and see warranty status ?

Just checked and mine is not displaying warranty status either. So, I'd imagine it's standard with the S6. Although, mine has been tripped, so maybe get final confirmation from somebody who hasn't flashed.

Thanks, lets see if someone else has the same thing. I don't know why Samsung would try to hide such important information.

Me neither. Have you tried to reboot into recovery? Maybe the info is there? I'm running TWRP so can't check. There are apps on the play store although they're not compatible with the S6, tried two and both tell me that Knox is 0x0, which can't be true as I'm running custom Kernel and root. So, I wouldn't bother with them.
If I turn off the Tab S6 and then hold the volume up and volume down. Then plug into a PC when it turns on I get all the data you are expecting to see on Download screen. However if I go to the Download screen from Recovery use ADB to reboot into bootloader that data is not there.
Hope this helps.

Your Correct. Device needs to be plugged into the pc for it to boot to the screen that shows all the info. I wonder why they made this a requirement. Its very unintuitive. I also didn't see it documented anywhere. How did you find out about this ? Thanks again for the help!
