i have m2001j2g on MIUI 13.0.7 version stock rom, no root. Since i bought the phone 2 years ago i have been having problems with calls. When i put the phone on my ear, the screen goes off as expected but after a while it opens again and my face touches the screen. mostly closing my microphone, and doing other stuff as my face keep touching the unlocked screen. i tried locking my screen before a phone call and tried proximity sensor reset APK. none of them worked. i really like the specs but this problem annoys me. is there any solution?

If it's not hardware problem
You can try calibration/re calibration
Goto my device>all specs>click on kernel version multiple times, it will open CIT menu
And find your desired option.
Just install "Call Proximity Sensor Fix" from playstore.
none of the recommendations worked. only proximity sensor fix app's proximity overrider works but it creates a constant notification. i use blockada for adblocking, it also has a constant notification. they keep changing places, it is annoying
edit: ok, i just unclicked show notifications for both app's, locked them on running applications, remove all restrictions: they are both working now without any notification. call proximity sensor fix it's overrider works dine, thanks all

i9100g SG2 - i have seen posts all over so i know that this bug is not limited to my device.
with ICS firmware.
Tested on multiple [JB and ICS] CM9 & AOKP based roms.
[Problem]
I like CM9 and AOKP based roms over stock roms and roms derived from stock ones. I faced troubles when I used my phone for calling.
The screen goes completely blank both on inbound and outbound calls. This happens in more than 90% calls. There is no way to get screen back. You can set the phone to end call with power button otherwise you can not even end the call.
[Solution]
Last month (july 2012), after hitting my head against my phone for several hours i gave up hope and switched back to stock rom (only to be disappointed with slow & bulky stock rom)
Finally yesterday (21st Aug, 2012), I again decided to fight it out and find the problem.
While testing i found some abnormal call behavior, most of the times screen went black but some times the screen worked properly.
I decided to test my sensors... i installed androsensor [free] from play store. Magnetic sensor and proximity sensor had issues. The proximity sensor will work only once and it wrongly tells the phone that there is something close to the proximity sensor. This causes all the black screen problems during calls. It is default behavior of the phone to not listen to any touches or key pressed during the call if the phone is close to face. With proximity sensor misreporting, the phone assumes that the phone is close to face and it ignores all touches and key presses.
I then decided to force screen on while calls. I installed proximityscreenoff-lite [free] from the market. Under this app's settings I selected it to keep the screen turned on while calls.
To my surprise it somehow forced proximity sensor to work as it is actually intended.
Now, during calls the screen turns off when i bring phone close to face and again turns on when i move it away from the face.
[Magnetic sensor problem]
On some boots Magnetic sensor failed to start [it was not detected]. After a boot or two it worked. But its reading remain near constant even if you rotate the device. Well i hope to work something out for it some day as its not that important for me right now.
I hope this helps all and especially developers to find the culprit for the real problem. Till then this will fix your problems.
Got this problem too, app solved it!
Maybe some dev should look into it.

Just wanted to say that it's awesome that you tried to fix this as it drives me nuts. One question - does this still work with the latest version of the proximityscreenoff lite app? I've tried to find the right settings to do the above and I'm a bit confused - would you mind putting it in dummy language for me?
Cheers

Hello ,,
on my side with [ROM] KVT49L [AOSP] 【4.4.2】Dan&Ktoonsez 【CM Edition】 - Stables only! - May 31, 2014 , i have the same issue , thinking to switch from cm edition to normal ..
I noticed my proximity sensor randomly stopped working properly without making any changes to my phone recently. I'm rooted but don't have the latest OTA updates because I didn't want to lose root. The screen will either shut off and not turn back on when I put the phone up to my ear, or it will just shut off on its own without me covering the sensor. I'm in the process of searching the forums now, but they all seem to be older threads. I thought maybe there was a newer solution somewhere.
And I keep reading about this *#7353# that you can dial for diagnostic stuff, but on my phone it does nothing. I dial it in and nothing happens.
It works fine for the QuickGlance feature every time. I downloaded an app and it apparently detects the sensor being covered, but then doesn't detect that it's uncovered again.
Never mind, I read some people recommended blowing out the earpiece, so I hit it with my RocketBlower and now the sensor works fine.
when I use the original oxygenos, I always happens (in each call) that there are unintentional touches the screen that usually make me turn the microphone off or pause the call, all this makes it impossible to make a phone call.
I tried doing upgrades, downgrades, cache cleaning, reset but nothing!
The only way to solve it is to use the CyanogenMod 13 where the bug does not occur but.
can someone help me with this problem ??? I like the stock rom and I would use it without problems
Lock the phone after acepting or making a call, maybe? Ive never had such issues with OOS.

Yes! the only way is to turn off the phone with the power button after starting the conversation, it is still very frustrating!
If I type a number and make e call the display will immediately go off when I put the phone near the ear. If I just keep it in the hand it will not go off. I guess this is what happen by default. Maybe it has to do with some kind of sensor you turn off on your settings in OOS?

I think the screen is responsive to the touch in some cases despite the proximity sensor turns off the screen, it's a pretty serious problem, those of OnePlus are willing to fix it, but they will leave at least 30 days.
I do not understand if it is a sofware or hardware problem because with the various tests I did the sersore proximity seems to work fine, but I can not make a phone call without any problems
Today when I dialed someone, the screen switched off, like when we bring it to our face, cover the sensor, tapping didnt do anything, only pressing power did bring back the screen, after that all was normal, except it wouldnt switch off the screen when the sensor was covered again
Did another call, the same, rebooted the phone but still the same. I use Dialer+, but tested with standard Phone app and the same happened, any suggestions
Yesterday all worked fine, the only apps updated yesterday where: Google, Calendar, MoboPlayer and Shazam

Same happened calling with Whatsapp...
No one
The proximity sensor seems to work fine otherwise
I've had the same issue on seemingly random occasions. Lots of people suggested checking the proximity sensor data using AIDA64 but it all checked out fine.
Only thing that worked for me was to recalibrate the motion sensor under display settings. Hope that works for you!

I had the same issue on Lollipop, I upgraded to marshmallow and it still exists. It happens at random times, sometimes the proximity sensor works fine but sometimes it kind of freezes and the screen remains off even after a phone call, I have to touch it a bit to make it respond.
Any permanent way of fixing this? Any solution would be very helpful.

Mine never had the problem other than that one day before I upgraded to MM, I have the phone since January. Did you try re-calibrating the sensor like Gator said
Same happened with MM, recalibrated the motion sensor under display settings, and it is working again...
Hi,
I have problem with fingerprint reader on my elephone p9000. I am using latest softer version and i have this problem from the begining.
So when i try to add new fingerprint it recognize my finger every fifth time, and after i set my fingerprint and lock phone it recognize and unlock phone first few time, and after that i seems like he forget fingerprint and i cannot use it.
Is this system or hardware problem?
After update i factory reset my phone but this does not help.
I find youtube video with the same problem
If you have any sugestion please.
I have the same problem too. I think you need to press the finger well for getting a good result.
I hope that this problem have a solution.

I had loads of problems with the fingerprint sensor.. I was scanning itself (no finger on the sensor, vibrates and returns "too many attempts), working only when the screen is on, not working at all, working 1/10 times I tried, etc...
My problems were all software related (some were registering technique related). It's really not possible that two phones that you have ordered had the same problem.
I have managed to fix mine by combining Resurrection Remix and DarkSense Kernel 1.2.0, now it works 100% of the time. (1.1.0 rendered the fingerprint sensor useless). XPosed and ROM Toolbox seemed to break the fingerprint sensor as well.
I know it might sound silly, but try a different fingerprint registering technique. What I do is I lightly touch the sensor with the centre of my fingertip for the first time, lift the finger up, rotate it by ~5 degrees and lightly touch it again. Do that until most of the finger tip is registered. I'm only saying this because I've seen people touching and "smearing" the fingerprint sensor, expecting it to work. Imagine it's a camera, give it pictures of your fingerprint.
I don't know if this is useful, but after a few months of trial-and-error I've managed to find what was wrong with mine.
I just installed the AEROM V5 and now it works about 90% of the time, which is more than my Nexus 5X did.
