I have tried 3 stores, called multiple times, they dont seem to be able to make it work on their network. The phone works well on googles FI though. Anyone has had luck activating the esim on tmobiles network?
thx

my friend tom got his galaxy s like two months ago. he has a even more plus plan with unlimited everything on tmobile and he used that in a iphone 3g for a year with no problems and he could roam with no issues on att.
with his new vibrant its not working! it takes forever to try to connect then gives a error. the sim should be good since it roams in two other unlocked phones..
for the note, his phone IS unlocked... that was the first thing we thought of..
the error is: unable to select network.. your sim card is not allowed to connect to this network
this phone is a quadband phone so it should work.. we have put a att legit iphone sim in it and it works great.. what gives? why can't he roam on this new phone when other phones do? running bionix rom.. have tried updates, wondering if anyone has any opinions or info
we've already tried changing network settings with *#0011#, gone into service mode *#*#197328640#*#* with no luck
edit: we've tried not allowing the phone to connect to our local att 3G band (1900) and use all other bands again with no luck. the phone connects to canada's rogers network tho.. weird..
anyone check this out yet?? anyone got it workin? any reports would be killer ...
we have tried more settings through service mode still with no luck. when we specify certain bands and leaving the att 3G local band unchecked, it will not hop on T-mobile with the setting! Crazy! not sure if it's the rom, radio version or kernel but we will keep tweaking and posting results.. if anyone is having this issue or has concerns any posts or signs of life would be cool lol
Same issue
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution, but I've been working on this same issue since september. I originally contacted tmo about the problem to see if they somehow hadn't provisioned my phone/account for roaming. Needless to say they were not much help. They suggested I exchange the phone for a new one, which I did, and I still have the same problem.
I'm in a rural area of california where tmo has roaming on att towers. My girl has tmo service with a different samsung phone and she can roam on att just fine. She can send/receive calls and text. I even put my sim in her phone, and it works, so I've pretty much narrowed the problem down to an issue with the vibrant itself.
My phone is not unlocked, so we've ruled that out. I'm running bionix fusion with ji2 modem now, but I've had the issue with the stock phone before ji6, and after ji6 ota. I've tried messing around with the service menu the same as you, and I haven't got anywhere either.
I have been able to get the phone to at least lock on to att by adding the apn internet2.voicestream.com, and it will get past the "not registered on network" message. Unfortunately, it won't complete a call or send a message, it just times out after about 15 seconds and drops back to the previous menu (depending on whether I tried to dial out of contacts, the call log, or the dialer). But it does not give me an error message, it behaves as if the call connected and immediately hung up.
I had given up on it for the past couple weeks, but I have time now to try and work it again. Let me know if you've gotten anywhere, and I'll do the same.
The fix is: when you're in an att roam area, set your phone to gsm 850 only via the service menu. If your phone doesn't auto lock on the att network, search for available networks and choose att. After that you should be able to send and receive calls and texts.
after yet some more messing around, still no luck. it's clearly a thing with tmobile not allowing roaming..... because i read many threads off the gooooogle that say tmobile is pretty much going away and any "contractless" plans don't have roaming so they don't lose money....
dickheads. at least he's grandfathered in with a good unlimited everything plan tho..
even if all this said, if anyone finds any info out post!
the other day i was out of tmobiles network coverage and on att voice and edge not 3g. i live in texas
this is with a stock vibrant jI6
tried the app RoamControl with no luck. it uses different tmobile bands when in "roam only" mode. anyone have any luck yet?
i have an unlimited prepay t mobile data plan i use to mess with various gsm htc phones. i picked meself up a t mobile 3g flyer, fired it up,and while it looks like 3g and 4g are working, little arrows and all, data is not really working.
ive tried adding a different APN,and flashed leedroids HC with phone enabled rom in efforts to get it working.
im assuming that t mobile somehow knows i have a phone data plan, and as such is not letting the data work correctly.
i can make phone calls and send sms just fine. but no data.
question is simply, anyone know of a way to make this work??
thanks for any info
Did you get it from T-Mobile or is it an unlocked international unit? If you got it from T-Mobile, you may have to get the MSL to unlock the system first.
I do the exact same thing with an international unit and a T-mobile prepaid SIM card and my data work great. I'm on the $3/day of usage plan, as I normally have either wifi access or my phone has a 4g connection and I can tether the 2 via wifi.
thanks for the reply. any idea how to get the flyer into diag mode? i found !!3424! on the calculator works for the view, but its not working on the flyer
it is a t mobile branded device,so if i can figure out how to get into diag ill give this a shot
update: i still cant figure out a way to get to the diagnostic menu to find the msl and unlock. i believe the t mo flyer is not subsidy locked,as when i put my vzw lte sim into it,it does not prompt me to enter an unlock code.
i dont know if the difference here is the fact that youve got an unbranded international unit,or the fact that youre on the $3/day prepay. i called t mo and played dumb, and eventually they confirmed that i would need an internet "broadband" plan, wich would make the sim card not work in phones, and be more expensive
hoping maybe the $3 prepay plan maybe is what is letting it work,i ordered another sim that i plan to activate with the same
failing that,i guess i need to either sell this one and find a international unit,or find a way to make the t mobile unit "look" like the international one to t mobile.

got my sim,set up the $3 prepay, still no go. is there a way to make the t mobile branded device look like an international unlocked version?
My daughter only uses her Samsung Vibrant for games and searching online, so she don't really need an add-a-line. Would a T-Mobile mobile broadband (data plan) sim work if I put it in her Vibrant? I searched online, and found many people claim it works, but I called T-Mobile twice and both times said it would not work. Are they saying this to prevent customers from using the data-only sims with their smartphones?
If this is indeed possible, it is said that the sim card must be activated correctly prior to putting it in the Vibrant. What exactly does that mean, and how do I do that? THANKS!!!
Hi all,
I've called T-Mobile 3 times now and am receiving an MM#6 error (phone not allowed) on my Gear S.
Any suggestions are welcome.
The device is Network unlocked
I just went through 2 hours of calls with Customer Service on this same issue. The S was an ATT unlocked watch that I wanted to add to my Tmo account. Never had any success, even after speaking with Tier 2 support. This is not unique to the S. If you do a google search you will find a variety of ATT unlocked devices having the same issue on Tmo.
One tech told me that it is something ATT writes into its code. Who Knows? I gave up and put the S on my Sister's ATT account and now it works fine. When I checked the ATT device unlock page, it does not recognize the IMEI of the watch. This is another problem other users have experienced.
having the same problem...
now feeling jipped... any fix?
Just to test, i used a h2o wireless 10$ pay as you go sim kit and phone and text works fine. Data does not.
But i only expect to use the phone and text for emergency only. ie.. running etc.
So, will keep mobile network switched off except when i need it.
10$ lasts 90 days.
i have my phone with me most of the time so its bluetooth tethered.
But for when i want to run, i dont fancy carrying my phone with me.. then i will switch the mobile network on.
Its a crutch, but its real cheap. cheaper than any monthly plan, considering that i wont be using the mobile network phone/text very often at all. just good to know its there.

Hi.
A long time back I had a vz note3 that I used with tmobile and there was a simple thing to do to fix it so when I activated hotspot it didn't look at vz servers but looked at tmobile for the authentication and it would work.
Well I'm in that similar boat again. Now I got an att v10 and I'm on tmobile. It's obviously unlocked but it getting that error where I guess it's contacting AT&T servers for the authentication check for my hotspot.
Anyone know how I can fix this? Foxfi don't work either. Also yes I do have mobile broadband on my tmobile acct.
Thanks
Was your Note 3 rooted? I would think you might be limited with your presently unrootable AT&T V10? Good luck tho, I hope you can find a solution. Have you tried all the third party tethering apps?
