backport official moto roms? - Moto G Power Questions & Answers

As a happy owner of a retail 2020 G Power, I hate that Moto forced obsolescence on this phone when the hardware in 2023 is *still* better than the 2021 & 2022 "updated" models. However, the newer models are getting 12 & 13 versions of Android. My Question is to those with experience creating/moding ROMs: how difficult would it be to backport one of the newer ROMs from the 2021 & 2022 models? Would it work properly if the hardware drivers are simply replaced with those from the 2020 ROM, or is something else more challenging involved? It would be great to have a vanilla Moto G Power ROM using Android 12 or 13 working on our 2020 phones.

Surnia and Osprey similarities - Basebands, Kernels, ROMs

I'm wondering if the similarities between Surnia and Osprey will allow us to benefit from the work that Motorola is doing to bring Marshmallow to the Moto G 2015? It looks like a Marshmallow soak test was just started for the Moto G 2015 (Droid Life 11/4/2015), and it is rumored to have LTE band 12 support enabled, which would imply that VoLTE is also supported. I think it's very likely that in order for VoLTE to work it would need specific support for it in the baseband software. I have read that there are other SD410 phones that support VoLTE, so at this point it just seems like we have an issue where decent hardware is being held back by poor software from Motorola. Since it seems like Motorola has decided to abandon us, hopefully the XDA community will be able to step up and fill in some of these gaps in functionality. Here are a few questions that I have about the similarities between these two devices.
Are Surnia and Osprey similar enough that Surnia can run Osprey baseband software? Has anybody heard of any attempts to flash an Osprey baseband on Surnia? Would this be limited only because of code signing issues and not hardware limitations?
Surnia and Osprey use very similar kernels, so would this also make it easier to port anything related to VoLTE from the stock Osprey kernel back to Surnia?
When the stock Marshmallow update for Osprey is released would the similarities between the two phones make it more likely that somebody would be able to port it to Surnia?
Any thoughts on this?
I saw ROMs for Osprey that are based on Surnia's device tree, so why not? I don't think flashing a Osprey ROM on surnia will work, but what about flashing it with a Surnia kernel? I'll try it, can simply solve a bootloop!
Tried that, caused bootloop, but while downloading a backup ROM, I suddenly saw this:
It looks like Surnia and Osprey probably have different sized /system partitions. I tried flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/orig-development/caf-6-0-osprey-t3229378 and when it was verifying /system it gave an error message. I next flashed the squid2 kernel and it just bootlooped.

LineageOS 15.1 / Oreo 8.1 for I9300

It's summer 2018 and there's no LineageOS 15.1 release for this phone. I am wondered when it gets released because it's almost 1 year since Android 8.0 Oreo Series got released.
S3 neo got Oreo too
probably as soon as someone decides to develop it. it doesn't happen automatically, you know... porting to & supporting a device takes a lot of work, by actual humans with actual desire & actual time that they actually give for free.

Hi,
i tried almost every latest rom and i finally found the best rom for our ancient device. Which is LineageOS 13.0 with Meilor NUI theme. Netflix works and device smooth as butter. (I tweaked it littlebit and it took 90718 Antutu v8.0.3 score)
is there any dev can provide LineageOS 13.0 with latest security patch for Manta?
Come on its not that much hard.

OP was correct in his request, because:
1. LineageOS' last build for Manta was July 2017, and the kernel was last patched and updated in 2018. That's very old for security patches.
2. And yes, it's fairly difficult to build for older versions with those older blobs that are no longer available for download.
CM13 was the last version released for Manta (Nexus 10).
If you care to read carefully, the build process does not bring in newer security patches into either build - it only pulls these last-known builds and builds them.

reading through that forum thread battery drain is high, camera is somewhat broken for some users and its even less OOS and more colorOS as expected.
no official announcement has been made yet.
as of a few hours ago a C05 build is pushed to indian nord 2 (DN2101) which is an update to the still beta C04 build and its labeled "stable":

im not convinced anymore that we eu users with DN2103 will get android 12 in 2022 ... starting to regret buying a oneplus phone.

GSI ROM?

Has anyone tried GSI ROMs on Moto G Power 2020 (Sofia)? It seems like people have tried them with Moto G Power 2021 with some success but not sure they are suitable as a daily driver yet. I would appreciate any feedback on your experiences.
