SSDs are quite amazing piece of hardware which help your system to run faster as compared to traditional rotating hard disk drives. An average SSD can last for up to 10 years when in used. But in some cases, it can last for less than 5 years if write more data per day such as if you do video editing where a lot of data being modified than your SSD might last for around 5 years.
Recently got message "File System Needed A Repair" after PC got powered on what indicates development of bad blocks. Horrified me because my PC is 5 years old. Computer seemed to fix the issue, thanks god for that. Decided to run a diagnosis tool
to get more info about SSD's health.
If your SSD health is showing as 100% or good than your SSD performing great. If it says bad than you might need to consider replacing your SSD drive.
You may use free-of-charge CrystalDiskInfo app

by the way. is there a way to revive a dead SSD? I have a 1.8in IDE (44 pins) that is dead and is very difficult to find a replacement, if any
Many issues with SSDs are soft issues which can be fixed by formatting the drive.
this is the issue. I cannot format it. it says unknown error. and I cannot put into another laptop with a working OS and try any kind of software. it behaves like read only

Howdy,
can someone briefly explain space allocation on the mozart, and tell me how to get more...?
I've set the reserved for ther PC space setting in Zune to be 0%, yet I still seem to have nearly 900MB reserved.
In total only have around 4 GB of my device available to store music on.... surely Windows Phone 7 OS idoesn't take up the remaining 1.8GB in size?!? It's listed as "Free Space", but doesn't seem to be available to me!
Please see attached for current status - are there any tools to examine / free up space? It was only flashed last week, and updated to latest build.
Thanks,
Dom

this usually happens when you connect your phone to multiple computes (Even if it is just for charging)
The only way to free the space is to hardreset the phone..
I know it is dumb but I had to do it
thanks for the reply, but you are kidding me right?
simply charging the phone in a different PC, without synching can do this?? wow!
I've only just got the thing setup how I like it, all email and everything synched, apps installed etc.
And with no way to backup everything I have to reset and start over again..!>!?!?
MS have so nearly a done a good job with WP7, but i keep finding major flaws in their thinking that are beginning to outweigh its' slickness...
(no drag and drop - zune sync only - no phone backup a la SPB - no outlook sync)
Anyone else any ideas how I can reclaim the 1.8GB "free" space?
Greetings people,
I own a Lenovo k50 t (a7000) and i recently took it to a phone "service" shop, if i can call it that way, to install a add less ROM.
Said and done, i leave my phone there and return a few hours later to pick it up, everything seemed fine till i wanted to install a new app.
I got a error message telling me i had insufficient space, which is strange since it had a fresh OS on it, so i decided to check the storage space details
and to my amazement it showed me i had 1,3 Gigs total internal Memory from wich 1,2 G was used by the OS. I used ES File Explorer to look up the storage details.
Then i did the same thing using the storage details tab from the OS "settings" window and it showed 16Gigs of wich 14,5 Gigs being "OS Used".
I got a feeling that the partitions got damaged or something like that.
I already tried formating everything via CWM and reinstaling a new software, it worked but the partition was still the same size, 1.3 Gigs.
Could anyone help me out please?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

I took it back to the service and the guy managed to fix it.
He wouldn't tell me how tough.
Im guessing the partitions were screwed up and he rewrote those.
Hi all,
I've been planning to install Remix OS on my USB stick, but had not take into action due to the complexity in rooting the system image. Now that Remix OS 3.0 has come out and has built-in root, I figured it might be time to try Remix once again. Once in the installer however, I'm greeted with the same problem as before - too little space for the shared data partition.
The USB stick in question is a 16GB one which I previously used for file transfer. I don't transfer much files but I'd still like to reserve at least 4GB in case of emergency. Unfortunately, Jide decided to also reserve a lot of space for system and data partitions, so the installer gives me this layout...

}
...which leaves much less space than I desire.
Since this Remix OS installation will be "just for fun", i.e. I won't install much stuff on it, what I want is to shrink data to 4GB and/or shrink system to 3GB or less, so that I get plenty of space for storage.
I tried my hands with both Minitool Partition Wizard and DiskGenius, but both throw errors when trying to resize the system partition; they are also unable to touch the data partition.
I also intend to recreate the layout from scratch: I copied every file (hidden and system files included) from the system partition to somewhere else, repartitioned the USB stick to this layout...
...and put the copied files back in the 2nd FAT32 partition. However doing it this way gives me a back screen when booting from the stick.
Now I'm out of ideas. Has anyone met a similar use case, and how was it resolved? Thanks in advance for helping!
Hello. I own a Xiaomi Redmi 7A. Since the very beginning I have issues transfering files to PC.
First of all, the device barely loads on Windows 10. Whenever I try to move files or even simply open folders, it freezes. Never had this problem before with any Android device, either from Samsung or LG. Or whatever other brand (not even those cheap Chinese freaks).
But whenever I connect my 7A to PC, I have to quickly try to move files before 30 seconds or so. After that, it totally freezes. Or files don't respond. Or explorer.exe doesn't respond.
I have tried reinstalling drivers, activating debugging mode and tons of other things I could find on internet, having NO success at all. Tried with my mom's laptop (Windows 7) and I was surprised I got the exact same problem. So, I came to this forum, cause I believe you guys are the only one who can save me.
I didn't want to get a new phone, because I got this one only 4 months ago, so... But seems like I'm going to have to get a new one asap.
Examples of the dozens of problems I've been experience:

}
(Failure moving File or Folder - Catastrophic failure)
(Hanging forever/files don't show)
Eternal copying (that can't be cancelled and still freezes)
Some more different errors (googled it and no success finding a decent fix)
Seems to be a mass storage bug with either the device or Windows
Hello, I bought a new laptop, installed windows 11 and all the programs I need, the computer doesn't need anything else and from now on I would like to save the system and all the programs installed in case of unexpected events.
I downloaded Macrium Reflect free (it's in Italian but I couldn't choose at the time of installation).
Now I'll explain my doubts; I have a 1tb external hard drive, with Mini Partition Tools I created two partitions, one of 100 gb in which I thought of saving the data and the other of about 800 gb that I would like to use to keep the games and programs that I rarely use, in your opinion is it ok to create a backup in a partition of an external hdd? Can it work? Can I format a pc by making it choose the iso from a hdd partition?
I created a backup and had Macrium verify the iso, it says everything is fine.
Another question, in the Macrium screenshot you can see the ssd on which the operating system is installed, the first one in the list (the one with the ticks), when you do a backup, you have to include all those partitions or you only need the one where the operating system is installed?
Third and last question, I'm doing all this in case I have problems with the PC and I want to format and re-install everything, to do this, what should I do? A backup? Create a system image ? Or other options?
Thanks to anyone willing to read and help me out.
