Update official image to latest - Moto G Power Questions & Answers

I have a rooted Sofia phone which cannot be updated with "Package verification failed"
Mine is Android 11, RPMS31.Q1-54-13.3-6
Can I just download it from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/motorola/sofia/official/RETCA/ and flash it from TWRP or Fastboot (Install Zip)?
Will it wipe all ? I have backup etc, just do not want to spend time on reinstall
Will it work with gradual (minor version) from TWRP or Fastboot

Why not, you can flash but first backup your all data because it will wipe your device

Some root questions

I want to root my poco f1 ....
But i have some questions regarding it
1. Will my data be format while rooting and installing twrp
2. How i will get ota update
3. Will installing ota update also format my data?
1. Your whole internal data needs to be wiped... To flash the force decryption enabler at first...
Even while installing twrp via fastboot.. Your data will be formated
2. You will get updates... But not via ota.... Yes you will get to download the updateds in some roms... But you need to dirty flash them.
3. While dirty flashing.... Formatting data is not required.

Does the twrp with working decryption also need to format my data?
You can root your device in two ways.
First, with twrp (OTA won't work afterwards)
Second, without twrp (OTA will work)
First method, unlock the bootloader (device will be wiped)>Grab the twrp with working decryption>Boot your device into fastboot and type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (or whatever the recovery image name is)>Now type fastboot boot twrp.img (or whatever the recovery image name is)>Once booted into twrp, swipe to allow modification>Now download Magisk installer and copy into the device>Flash it?Reboot to system>Profit.
N.B. After flashing twrp, make sure to first boot into twrp before booting into system or else device will restore stock recovery. If you need to update in future, just grab the twrp flashable update package and flash it. That's it. No need for OTA.
Second method, this will also require an unlocked bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked, get the stock boot image of your current software (e.g. if you are on miui 10 with October security patch, make sure to grab the stock boot image for miui 10 october). Now install Magisk manager apk in your device. Now open magisk manager and go to install. You will find an option for patching stock boot image. Click on it and select the stock boot image. Magisk will patch the boot image and will place it in your internal memory. Now boot into fastboot mode and type fastboot boot patched_boot.img (or whatever the name is). Once device is booted into system, go to Magisk and click on Install>Direct install (recommended).Magisk will get flashed by itself and reboot. Once rebooted, go to Magisk manager and check. If you do everything correctly, you are rooted.
N.B. When you get an OTA update, open Magisk and go to Unsinatll and click on "Complete uninstall". It will uninstall magisk and revert your stock boot image back. Note that, if you play witgh system partition like modifying build.prop or change host file or bootanimantion or any such thing, you won't be able to get any further OTA update. In that case, you need to flash the complete fastboot rom through MiFlash tool.
For more information, please go to Magisk thread or search online.

Hi so recently today I was able to successfully flash my stock ROM from Global 11.0.3 to Europe 11.2 (20.3.5).
All works, I have a new and version specific TWRP recovery which solves the decryption issue and such.
Only problem though is I can't seem to update my ROM from the latest Europe 11.2 (20.3.12). I am aware that we cannot install OTA updates like we normally would because we are on a custom recovery. I tried flashing it from the 'choose update package' where it brought me to the TWRP and executed OpenScript to flash, and also tried flashing from TWRP itself. No luck. Bootloop into Redmi Logo and TWRP recovery, so I end up restoring the working Eu version.
An updated tutorial on how to install OTA roms on custom recoveries would really be appreciated, thanks!
Hey OP, could you make a How to install GSI guide?... I'm really interested on doing that.

you have to flash https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1.zip and then update the OTA..dont forget that we normally use a custom rom with TWRP, no point of having twrp with stock rom??? try xiaomi.eu , its way better and you dont have any problems with updates.

Hello, you are lost mate...
You use Xiaomi.eu ROM, it's a custom MIUI ROM (Not Official ROM).
You can install updates given by Updater app (System app) without issue on this ROM.
If your phone bootloop just after a ROM update, and not after flashing Magisk, it can be because of a bad encryption from "bad" TWRP (so you need to "Format Data" in new TWRP <-- installed by xiaomi.eu ROM)
-OR-
Did you use my K20 to Mi 9T conversion patch (from xiaomi.eu forum)?
Check for update with Updater app, download and install it. That's simple on xiaomi.eu ROMs.
Trying to install evolution X on my Mi 9T but whenever I flash TWRP the phone won't boot to it, just keeps loading the fastboot screen. Anyone have any ideas where I'm going wrong? I've reflashed stock with miflash for now to get it working.

I have the same problem, but I can't find a solution. Did you find it ?
I found the solution with explication on how to install havoc_OS
after format data you have to reboot to recovery, flash firmware +rom+gapps...without firmware it wont boot on some roms..read well OP instructions, mine are only for xiaomi.eu, you dont need to flash firmware and it will boot fine.

Can't install TWRP or Custom ROM (stock Android 10)

Hi,
I was with Stock Android Q by Xiaomi released in February. And I decided to install TWRP and a custom ROM, I tried "fastboot boot twrp.img" but my phone can't boot into TWRP, it says sending boot_a, but after I get error by loading boot_a, the same happens to "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img", the way it worked was "fastboot flash boot twrp.img" and then I was able to install Pixel Experience, but due to some mistakes I made with play store and play serviced I decided to reinstall PE, and then it gave me error 4. I did a clean install and still can't install PE. Decided to flash stock again and now I'm unable to install TWRP, when I do, it goes always to fastboot when trying to boot TWRP. I think it is because Android Q base. But I'm not sure. Maybe it worked in the first time due to Android Pie Base on boot_a cuz or of recent update. I saw on XDA a patched boot of stock Android Q v11.0.8.0 with TWRP and I was able to enter TWRP, but when I clean system/data/dalvik and flash PE, I always get error 1. What can I do? Should I try to install Android 9 pie to get some Base and then try to flash TWRP and PE? It is safe? Any tutorial to flash stock Pie clean install? Thanks to everyone who helps, I really really want PE rom.
You cannot run fastboot boot (not supported) or fastboot flash recovery (no recovery partition, boot contains recovery) on the Mi A3. Not sure about the other errors though...

it's work for me

Unable to flash the stock fastboot ROM via Mi Flash tool.

For whatever reason I can't budge the tool to flash the latest fastboot ROM on my Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite that I plan to sell since my new phone arrived today. A custom ROM from the last year is currently installed on the device.
I installed the latest Universal ADB drivers, installed the latest Mi Flash tool (2020.3.14.0), put the phone in fastboot mode, connected to PC via USB 2.0 port and tried to flash the latest fastboot stable ROM via the tool with "clean all" option and most of the time what happens when I hit the flash button, the fastboot logo on the phone disappears and in the left top corner a small white text "hit any button to restart" or something like that appears. Only once a progress bar appeared with $fastboot bla bla bla II echo missmatching image and device" and that was it... no progress, again the white text prompting me to hit any button to restart appeared on the screen.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? cmonBruh
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite 64/4 Global (platina with custom ROM installed) Windows 10 Pro 1909, MSI B350M Bazooka with AMD Ryzen 5 2600.
Hello.. I will try to help you.. And tell me if you fixed that..
Can you install a custom recovery? Twrp?
Id you can do that fallow my steps..
First download the fallowing twrp from here :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14cRc4UG4hzL45cDhdFZ7odr5Kb8LSai0/view
It can support ota update and your phone will boot I used it to flash my mi 8 lite without pc. And works!
Download and flash that twrp using mi flash tool. I hope your bootloader is unlocked if you already have other twrp installed simply flash the twrp zip file. And update your recovery. If you don't have any twrp installed simply rename. Zip file into .img file and flash it with flash tool. If you can't flash it using flash tool try to install any other twrp and then install the zip and update the twrp
After you installed twrp go and download recovery Rom from here :
https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/platina/
Download the first rom called : V11.0.2.0.QDTMIXM (1.8GB zip file)
( Recovery
miui_MI8LiteGlobal_V11.0.2.0.QDTMIXM_5574e03233_10.0.zip
Filesize
1.8G
MD5
5574e032330450c44c34d7f054de477b
Link
Download (Download to Mi Router)
Press download. Not download to mi router and don't forget.. Download the recovery zip file not the fast boot update!
After you downloaded boot in to twrp which I gave you above, wipe system / data / vendor / cache/dalvik and flash the zip file.
You can flash it with and without to wipe anything. But it is recommended to wipe. Pls go try and install it without to wipe anything, if it works ( for me works!) after flash done boot the phone and see if there is any problem. If u got any bugs or problems perform a clean flash wipe all and then flash!
Id you want root.. Fallow this :
You can root your phone with latest magisc manager using the same twrp. After you flash the boot.img with twrp press restart phone. If it won't restart go again to recovery and format only your data. And your will phone will boot again and you will get root acces. It's the only way to root android 10.
Please let me know if you fixed that problem.. And you flashed successfully the Rom..
DON'T FLASH THE ROM USING ANOTHER TWRP! ONLY THAT RECOVERY I GIVE SUPPORT OTA UPDATE AND CAN BYPASS THE XIAOMI Verification FOR THE STOCK ROM.. IF YOU USE ANY OTHER TWRP YOUR PHONE WILL BE STUCK IN Boot! Orange fox or any other twrp won't work!
I used this method and works like a charm

Flash Miui Ota without stock recovery

Hello,
I'm on Joyeuse device with MIUI V12.0.1.0.QJZEUXM.
Twrp used: TWRP 3.5.0_10-0 for Joyeuse build by dungphp
Rooted with magisk.
I get few weeks ago OTA update for MIUI V12.0.2.0.QJZEUXM, downloaded it to /sdcard/downloaded_rom, when I try to install it through MIUI settings, my device reboot to TWRP, I put my pattern to decrypt datas and I get "Error installing zip file '@/cache/recovery/block.map".
So, how can I install this update ?
Can I go in TWRP, and flash this zip ?
I don't want to reinstall all of my apps if this process broke official rom.
Thanks for your help.
