Hi Everyone,
I'm in Canada and thinking of picking up the GT 2 Pro (global version) from a local store.
Currently on the Fido network and was wondering:
1. Is anyone having any issues connecting to this carrier? Or any other Canadian carrier?
2. Are there issues updating to Android 13 (comes installed with A12)?
3. Does WiFi connect/disconnect?
4. Should I stay away from this phone and look at something else?
tia
I'm on Freedom, no issues, except no VoLTE available (might be just a carrier thing).
It's cheaper to get Chinese version and flash Global.
Netflix may not work due to Widevine L3 (at least on chinese).
Thanks Quake.
So no issues with dropped calls or wifi cutting in/out?
Are you on A13?
I can get the global version for around $840 CAD

No issues, it's a solid phone. I've had it since summer last year. I'm on A.13 C.12. Check Kimovil.com or other website for full specs on modem bands.
Realme has been pretty good with updates and fixing bugs, they have been releasing updates approx. every month.
Double check current warranty policy. When I bought mine, Realme did not support Canadian/US market.
If you have more cash, you might want to consider Galaxy for better warranty and popularity.

1. I dont know (living in EU)
2. Nope, smooth update, without bugs.
3. Nope, wifi works great (2,4 GHz and 5GHz on WiFi6, WiFi 5 and 4 also OK) for long distances (better than any other phone I've had).
4. This phone is a good deal if you buy it at a reasonable price ($840 CAD is OK) - good cooling system (SD8 gen 1 is disaster in many phones), 3 mayor Android updates, fast charging, SOT 8-9 hours, nice OS (easy to clean), nice display.
Some may be disappointed by the lack of wireless charging and no IPxx (rain and moisture are no problem).
Thank you guys for the feedback.
It's weird that some people are having issues with this phone (i.e. battery drain, wifi/carrier connections, etc). I guess it depends on the ROM????

That's the only explanation I have. I've been using the European rom since day one, and 0 problems (A12, A13, all OK...).
My experience: Mobile data, Wifi, Bluetooth and NFC are fine, no problems. The battery could last more SOT 6,5 hours during two days of use.
I switched from HTC U12+ and I am satisfied.I only changed the launcher, but that's just a matter of taste.

Maybe competitors testing the phone
Some of the issues I have encountered:
1. Low volume on USB-C to 3.5mm adapter -> workaround is to set automatic run of a shell command via Tasker to adjust gain (needs root)
2. Stock camera app isn't color-accurate -> fixed with GCam
3. Some of preloaded Oppo/Realme apps can be annoying -> remove via adb or root app manager
4. Google assistant's read/reply to message while driving function is broken for me - not sure if this is Realme-specific or a common issue. GA will read message, but stop listening for reply.
5. No official free recovery flash tool available. Current EDL flash tool is one-time token based, so you need to pay someone (like $5) to unlock it, in case of a brick.

- Don't expect 8-9 hours SOT, some users claim to get that but most user can't get near this....5-6 maximum is what you should expect from it.
- stock camera sucks, specially for videos, if you not into using gcam and other apps for photos and videos specially if you use the front camera think twice. If you ok using gcam and, mcpro24fps for example you can get good results.
- screen doesn't seem to match the specs advertised, brightness doesn't seem the advertised and touch sampling rate is advertised at 1000hz but it only reach 125hz.
- if you want to play with flashing the device there is no oficial free tool to flash it in case something goes wrong, so in case you get a brick you gonna have to pay a ramdom stranger to access you PC via TeamViewer and flash it for you, and you gonna pay for it.
- don't expect any custom rom for this device.
- snap 8gen1 is power hungry and likes to throttle, but that's not a Realme only problem...
Those are the problems I can remember right now.

Hello,
I dont know if my topic fits here in the category (General)
But i have a fuw questions about my new smartphone (Xiaomi Mi3 WCDMA version)
Because i have always used a Google phone (android) MIU5 is a hole diffrent OS.
So my question is there a possible way to install Google Play, and that is very stable on it?
Because i know xda-board is a very advanced board if it is something about phones, so if somebody can help me out here.???
------------
My Xiaomi Mi-3 Review.
New phone:
Since Xiaomi had released the Mi-3, there was an outbreak.
With the specifications and the low price Xiaomi had set an smartphone that is not only in China so populair but abroad the country to.
And you can see it with sales they made everytime the new stock was out.
In serval minutes there was a bunch of them sold out. The biggest one was more than 100.000 units in less than 90 seconds. You can see how populair the phone was. Because the new version with the latest highly clocked Snapdragon800 in it. Xiaomi set up an new variaty of people to there market.
Xiaomi is still out of stock in the most versions, and will be for a fuw moths.
Design:
The design of the Xiaomi Mi-3 is one of the most beuutifull phones ever made. The roundings the buttons the ultra-thin magnesium alluminum alloy gives the phone a very nice look. The roughness of the phone with his big 5 inch screens feels so nice in your hands. You dont have trouble with using one hand (only if you have big hands)
Hardware:
Xiaomi haves two versions of the Mi-3. The tegra4 TD-SCDMA only can be used in China, and the Snapdragon WCDMA an European/American/others parts of the world. Both CPU’s are diffrent clocked. the Tegra4 is clocked to max with 1.8Ghz, and the Snapdragon800 is clocked 2.3Ghz. The driffrence in the speed of the phone is actualy the same. Both versions are smooth tasking. There is no lag or something bothering you. With his 2GB on both version you are for now a happy guy. You can play the latest games on your phone as you want. With the new amazing LG Full-HD resolution IPS screen it makes the so beuatifull. The colors of the phone pop out. The angles on the screen are nice, somebody next to you will not having trouble to not see the screen.
Software:
Mi-3 is running on two diffrent android version. The tegra4 runs at an 4.2.3 android. And Snapdragon800 runs on an 4.3 newer version of the android. When you recieve your phone you can choose if you want to use it in chinese or English. If you choose english you still will see some chinese signs at the screen. This is one thing that the developers dont have chainged. But i cant hurt. You will not recieve Google App store on it, you must download it by your self. Xiaomi is very smart if you wanna use Google services, you must have an Xiaomi account, and trough the account you can download google installer. And from there you can use any google app you want.
Yes, it is possible!

I don't know if this is the right category for you question, but I'm not a moderator so I don't need to know that actually.
What I know on the other hand is that you can easily install Google Apps (GApps) on your Xiaomi Mi3. You won't need any experience with flashing gapps from internal storage or SD-card, it is easy as pie!
Once you have your phone open the MIUI Store and search for "Google". The developer Eric Xiang has put together an excellent Google Installer app. The name is in Chinese, but just search for it in English and you will find it. The installer will take care of everything else.
If that doesn't work, you should try rooting your device and flashing Gapps manually.
thank you in advance.
The GAPP store is in english right? Not chinese.
Hope i will can fix it. Uhm are there customroms made for the XIAOMI or not? So i can try that to if it doesent work for me...

and yet another one by a friend of mine:
I have the phone for about 3/4 days right now.
And the MIUIV5 launcher, if you using it for the first time. Its a little bit strange.
But after using it for a while, you learn fast and see how powerfull the launcher is.
The 1ste you always do is install gapps on your phone.
I Had to make some questions an supported boards, to get it work. But now i am pleased with the usage of the phone and the powerfull hardware whats in it.
Love the phone for now, will definitly stay at the MIUI community.
One thing: i hope they can fix an Android Stock 4.4 Kitkat OS with multi-lang....
I dont know why Cynogenmod doesent come for Xiaomi Mi-3, or other custom roms for it.
XDA-developers are the moest anticipated people for smartphones, i hope they will be release an Xiaomi mi-3 miuiV5 or later v6 CUSTOM ROM OR SOMETHING.
i tough there will be alot of them because it is Androind but nothing
A nice review. I have a great apetytna this smartphone. Are you able to compare its screen with LG G2 or HTC One? I wonder if it is comparable to, or better or worse.

The phone by it selfs is great, but there are some issues that i must solve before you can use the phone.
My issues are:
1. 3G not working well <- not solved
2. Ram is filling quikly <- not solved
3. Google account had some problems (was my fault because did not install google contacts.apk) <- solved
If these things are solved, than you have an bad-ass phone..

I'm using the latest MIUI version: 4.1.24 in Polish and I have no problems from the department in both the 3 and 2G. Everything in my MI 3 WCDMA works perfectly.
I have the CDMA version with miuiV5. It works great. No problems encountered. I just wish I knew how to make a custom ROM. I have a developer rom and the V5 rom. Tried both and they both work fantastic.
Maybe you know how to turn off the meter data. After exceeding the set limit further changes cause complications itelefon off my data transmission. I do not need to set this limit, I enclosed it with curiosity, and I have no problem.

It is not. Perhaps it's successor - the rumoured MI3S - might have this feature.
Btw. I have a 64GB Mi3 and so far I am very happy with this phone; even without LTE-support.
I am very happy with my phone. It is a 64GB Grey Mi3. The 3G on AT&T is fine but slow.
The Data speeds are not that fast but it gets the job done. I get some time out errors from time to time.
I like to be able to get the Temp that displays on the lock screen and home screen(default) to display current location instead of in China. Can't seem to get the default Maps app to work in the US even with it locking in on GPS it displays China. Google Maps works fine but a little show and sometimes has defaulted back to a Chinese location first until a signal lock happens and then it will find my current location.
Starbucks app doesn't work on my phone.
When I click on an autocorrected word that has a red underline on it the app will crash and send me back to home. Bug has been reported.
When saving pictures from the internet it doesn't default to a standard folder. It uses the cloud folder and even with sync to cloud off I have to move it to the main local folder to get the pictures available to send or attach to email.
Speedtest.net doesn't connect to show download speeds. It will show a slow upload speed.
Visual VoiceMail doesn't seem to work on AT&T's network. If I give them my old HTC One IEMI number the visual voicemail works but the DATA does not. I can live with it for now.
Anyone got the Visual Voicemail to work with connecting Data on AT&T? If so what phone did they put in the system to make it work? the HTC One does not work. Confirmed this twice.
If they release an LTE version that would work with AT&T here that would be killer!!! I really do like the phone. The size, the weight, the shape. I would love to see this one in White or Silver 64GB.

There will be very soon, devices squad on snapdragon 800 SoC : xperia z1, zr (?), LG G2, Note 3 and more ... mean we can start poke their code to used as "base" to start write device tree on cm / aosp/ aokp. I have also very limited skill to write android code ... let us learn together. Mine on stock MIUIv5 and I satisfy with the phone performance. Miui serve what we need for basic computed including archiving/extracting files. It's handy i did not need to carry my laptop anymore when travelling
US..ONLY..So after an extensive research ...I bought the biggest Smartphone I can get...An 8 inch screen phone with a good battery life. For starters, here is what I found out...
Huawei has several models that are very confusing and even their customer service were not that much informative. models I have encountered are the following:
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 823 L - 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage (Limited Bands for LTE but 4G speeds were fast enough for my use, got it from ebay)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 821 L - 1 GB RAM and 8 GB or 16 GB Storage options (More bands for LTE but 1 GB of RAM only)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 821 W - 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage option (I think the W stands for WIFI...this I cannot confirm)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Mediapad - 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage from gethuawei website...out of stock as of this writing)
Huawei T1 8 Mediapad - 1 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage

personally, the hardware is decent and battery life is great. I used it for 1 day and end fo the day still had 50% of battery life. I do need to have big pants though. Is there anyone trying to develop an updated OS for this system?

Too Bad, this is a good device and the battery life is good for a phone with an 8 inch screen. It is also good for those who have problems with vision and not wanting to be bringing 2 devices for travels.
I may have to learn programming to see if I can update this...
I have the MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro and it has the best radio/modem for T-Mobile coverage. It even covers their HSPDA+ 750 MhZ band which only a few phones cover; this is the band that T-Mobile calls the "building buster" for its ability to penetrate most buildings. So yeah for all that.. I'm now waiting for an 8-inch phablet that's octo-core and features Lollipop or Marshmallow. So far I have been unable to find one..
So which one of the above did you get? 823L, 821L, or the one from Gethuawei website?...i m like you impressed with the build but needs a pure Android OS to maximize it's potential.
A have the pro8 t1-821L its rootable and bloatware can be removed this way I have also unlocked the bootloader but there is no custom recovery or ROM which is a damn shame because it's nice bit of kit a can watch movies all night long on it and still not need to charge it also am not locked to EE either so if any devs r reading this post please help this phablet out? cheers

I would have wanted the 821L also but there were no 2GB available anywhere. Only 1 GB. But even with my 823L and connecting at 4G, the speed is negligible in our area which is Central Florida. I get to watch Netflix, and Youtube also with not much lag. And I do not have to squint from a small screen. Agree, also that if anyone can build a custom ROM that's plain Android Lolllipop would be nice.

Yes I do agree with everyone here. It is a very great device and a lot of bang for your buck plus more. The great thing about it is that you can basically make it however you want it. I manually updated mine to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Which took some time because Huawei is a very new brand and I had to get used to there EmotionUI. Which didn't take long because its Android too. Just without the app drawer. So its kind of ahead because Android N is going that direction from what I hear. Also after rooting and installing BusyBox I tried to install xPosed. But the Huawei device wouldn't take it because they already have there own framework. So I started to tinker more with it and found out that yes indeed they have framework already. That's why it reads a message error when trying to install xPosed and it says something about xPosed not being compatible. I believe it has something to do with their EmotionUI. Not sure though because that's my first Huawei experience. The device is really solid though. Resolution can be tweaked and the display looks so gorgeous then. Values for everything can be tweaked to make the OS run liquid smooth and fast with very little noticeable lag or hiccups. Also the volume values can change as well giving it a more premium sound. Camera resolution was turned up along with high quality pictures. So the pics stayed sharp looking. Also when some values are entered it gives the gaming experience so much more life through the CPU and the GPU. Rendering gets way better too. Also changing the data values gives it more LTE speed too. Along with other values that make the browser loading times instantly. Even when being on the mobile data network seems like you would be connected to WiFi. It saves a lot of data too. And the battery is amazing. I'm trying to remember what other tweaks worked perfect for it and it ran with no problems. Oh yes it can multi task with up to four things going on. I got the app where you can, watch YouTube and Google something. And watch something on eBay all in different windows at the same time. It got warm but handles it very well. You should overclock it and have the battery set on smart mode. Oh yes and change the font. I had Disney font on it and went to a more modern font look. I'll let y'all know what else I did if I can think of anymore things. Just reply I will come back to this forum. It is my most favorite device of all at the moment. And Huawei is so new too.

Le is so protective of their custom EUI that they don't want enterprising modding community to make custom ROMs for it. If no one is interested in buying your products, then what is the use of trying to be Apple regarding their software?
BTW EUI is not perfect. It is pathetic unoptimized piece of turd and the less we talk about the random bugs the better.

so shouldnt buy it
If Sources are released then it'll be a beast, even then its a good device,No issues except fingerprint is little slow compared to others.Just bought a sealed packed in 14k in India & very happy
They will never release source, their whole company plan is to sell phones with no profit and instead earn money by the streaming function that is built in the rom.
This phone is really the cheapest high-end or close-to-high-end device, it outclasses the Zuk Z2 and Xiaomi Mi5 with its worldwide LTE support.
Wouldn't surprise me if they aren't making any profit, latest flagship phones always cost around $180.
It all depends on what you want. If you are simply looking for a phone at a good price, it is hard to beat this one. The biggest flaw of this phone is the fingerprint scanner. It isn't good. However, if your main goal is a phone that has continued software development, this probably isn't the phone for you. But if you're content with stock rims, this is a very good phone. It can do most everything you want.

I'm using OPO for 2 years and counting . It's good phone to me but it seems old so i'm looking for new phone.
Le max 2 price in my contry is: 250$ for 4GB/32GB version. It sounds pretty cheap, isnt it? 250$ for brandnew phone, Snap 820, 4GB is quite interesting
My main usage is:
+ phone
+ social apps
+ phone call recorder app, voice memo
+ some small apps
+ and small game like slither.io,..
My OPO is very lightweight with Exodus rom, i wonder which rom to use with Le Max 2 to have same experience.
How about Lemax 2 battery, back camera and design. Please share your experience and suggestions!

I'm running stock China 17s no root, I've no problem with fpscanner it's blazing fast an misses 1/25, but no bugs whatsoever. I compare it to an IPhone, But for 1/3 of the price.
It's a brilliant phone. It takes some getting used to though. EUI is not the most amazing launcher but it runs smooth no lag. The specs are dope at an affordable price. So far I have a few things that I am not happy with in the stock ROM
1. The light sensor in direct sunlight, the colours get over saturated, the blacks become gray.. It's annoying. Hope they can fix that with an update.
2. Camera issues. Can not auto focus during video recording, and images are a bit over exposed in the sun. Average camera that's for sure.
3. Bloatware. A lot of Chinese apps that do not apply to users out of China, they are useless and take up unnecessary space and data.
And that's about all for now. If I could install custom recovery and could get a bug free MIUI 8, i would ditch EUI.
just got mine today, updated to latest 18s. I'm quite pleased but having notification problems when the phone has been in sleep for a while. I hope it's easily fixed, but disappointed the error is allowed to get through testing.
edit, correction 17s

Where did you get the 18s? The official Chinese site released the 17s on Sept. 2.

I believe that the software is OK, simply you are too new on the forums and you don't know how to handle it. Please check topics about "notification problems" and you'll find the way to keep them from not cleaning while the phone is in sleep mode. The notifications are working fine.

Hello, i got mine last friday and i have eui version -> 5.8015S and i don't see any ota update, could you tell me where do you get that update, if you need to install any recovery, what are the steps to update this? I just know that power button and + vol i get EUI recovery and there is a option to flash a update.zip file
Hey guys! I've been using LG G3 VS985 on 4.4.4 for quite a long time and i didn't like stock rom at all. I am considering to flash custom rom but i don't know which one to choose as i am new to this custom rom stuff. Here's a list of what i want in a custom rom:-
1-It should be stable because i want to use it on my daily driver
2-Performance is my main concern.Stock rom was choppy in animations
3-Battery Life
4-Camera should be usable as i've heard you've to compromise camera for nice custom rom.OR just suggest an alternative camera app.
I wanted to flash CAF AOSP[6.0.1] but the reviews were not good as it had number of issues. Also i am OK with older version of androids.Don't want the Android N.
Why not just stay with stock but update to 6.0 ? I've kept mine stock for over 2 years (taking the OTAs as they come). AFAIK an update to 7 is not availabe yet, and given the age of the phone it may never be.
To address your points:
1. It's STABLE. I can't remember the last time I had to reboot.
2. Performance is fine to me. Granted I don't do any gaming (that's what tablets are for!), but I haven't run into any issues with streaming video, email, photos, or reading.
3. Battery life is so-so, and always has been. I haven't really measured it because I have a wireless charging back. When I come home or to the office, I just place the phone on the Qi pad. A collateral benefit is that I always remember where the phone is!
4. Get Open Camera from the Play store. It lets you set things like ISO, color balance, focus type, scene mode, etc. Works fine with the G3 on 6.0
The only real problem I've had is that the battery died after about 18 months (same thing happened to my wife's G3). That may well be a result of heat generated by the wireless charging, but since the battery on the G3 is replaceable, the fix was a $20 battery from LG.
I don't particularly like the stock interface, but Nova Launcher took care of that.

As for why I'm looking. Magisk framework and MagiskSU can't modify the stock ROM boot.img and verify even when bumped. For why that matters, no netflix now or very soon if rooted. Custom ROM can use a script to bump the boot.img after flashing seSuperUser and avoid the SafetyNet DRM checks.
For why that matters, no netflix now or very soon if rooted.

Ok, but the OP didn't say he needed to be rooted. In fact, since the G3 is my "daily driver', I prefer to keep it stock unrooted (with Nova /launcher to take the rough edges off the LG UI.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against rooting per se; I have three tablets (Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Samsung S2 8.0) that are all rooted. Unlike the G3, however, they are not "mission critical" for me. When I break something (and believe mei, I have! ) I can afford to take the time to figure out a fix.

well i have some answer
1 . yes worth it if the device is completely problems free ( make sure you check the screen and touch carefully before buying, take your time )
2. yes , crdroid the best right now.
3. pubg gaming = 5+hours , average/medium gaming = 7/8+hours
4. screen bleeding and touch is the most popular issue.
5. yes
6. just my opinion ,maybe you should add extra $$ and consider for k20 pro . less issue device with better screen and up to date spec .
1. this phone is still great in mid-2019, especially if you find it at a lower price
2. no issue for the vast majority ; however a few like me cannot use any ROM (SIM not detected, or extremely slow 4G access, random bugs and resets, etc.)
3. around 7h without gaming, up to 10h with low brightness and not too demanding tasks
4. no
5. yes
6. if you can, try to go for the K20 Pro instead, 'cause it's really a better phone (AMOLED display, more powerful processor, bezel-less display, etc.) for a not-so-much-more pricing

1. only if you are getting GOOD Discount!
2. CrDroid is Good for PubG, but Havoc2.8 on Optimus Drunk Kernel is NEXT to Miui! (you can youtube "poco f1 on Havoc" and see for yourself)
3. on Havoc I get 6+ hours 4g social media Time.
4. I am high maintenance "sheldon Cooper" type person so for me any device has many issue but the following problems are with poco f1 (according to me)
a. Mixer Path file cannot be tweaked for Volume boost, only on kernel level which is still unsatisfactory for me. ( this is due to modified vendor+firmare image of poco f1 by xiaomi)
b. 3g usb tethering gives process crashing issues due to modified vendor firmware on all custom roms!
c. notch takes 60% of status bar
d. viewing angels arent that good! and kcal setting is must! but still often leaves me tears in eyes if i watch 2hrs of netflix movies!
e. no stereo speakers!
f. even on custom rom! device do get warm and later heats up! the software doesnt starts freezing/lagging but still disturbs me!
5. yes
6. wait little longer! and go for 5g phone with better display!
Yes, but only if you are prepared to remain on Stock Rom, to negate most of the problems that people are flagging. I have had this phone since April this year and have kept it stock bootloader locked and have not had any problems. No screen bleed, touch issues or any other problems and I use it as my daily driver. Only difference maybe is that I am on Global Rom and in UK.

Well staying on MIUI is perfect! as its very stable and strong modded android. however even in MIUI there are many versions/builds and people have faced those problems even on miui and locked bootloader!

well then from the angle of having custom roms , LOS/CrDroid/Havoc/RR7.02 etc, this device is very popular and can be bought if you wana have device which you can configure on deeper level!
