Didn't seem to happens to me. I use dfps anyway. Did you try xperia companion to fix it?

this happens to me as well. Flip the switch off, and back on fixes it. Even tried force 120 mods. The update that came today didn't fix it or include latest sec. patch

About this im talking about. Did you tried restoring firmware with sony companion?

Dfps fixes it, however if you want a simpler fix, just toggle the battery saver on and off, it forces 60fps when on so it effectively triggers the toggle without needing to go to the actual toggle

It's a root module script to manually force the phone to use whichever refresh rate you put.

It's temperamental and requires root, but it works, even in the face of overheating (won't throttle the screen).
That being said I uninstalled it as it can interfere with game enhancer fps restrictions i have in place. You can set specific app limits or touch input boosts, but it's just not for me. It's good tho

yes, this also happened on my Xperia III A13

[SEMI-SOLVED] F5121 FPS locked to 48 everywhere!

I need some help. My device can only display a maximum of 48-49 fps, at least I think so. I noticed that the device was a little slow on scrolling, and downloaded an app called Gamebench. I captured the Settings app, YouTube videos in 60 fps, 2D games and more but everything is locked to 48 fps! I don't know if it is the apps fault or something else. Please test your own device and report back!
Edit: found the solution. Some apps just do something on boot related to STAMINA that causes the lock. Just disabled those apps in BootManager, rebooted and the device runs at 60 fps! Thank you venomxob for pointing out STAMINA as a culprit to this problem.
Edit 2: this is NOT caused by apps. Disabling every single app in BootManager doesn't help. But the temporary fix is still to toggle STAMINA on and off.
Have you tried switching off STAMINA mode?

STAMINA is off. I actually just got the phone for Christmas and I have never turned STAMINA on.
If I would do a test on a fresh wipe, then I'll wait out until the Oreo update comes. I am running stock OS.
Recording the screen with GravityBox yielded footage at an even lower framerate of 37. Viewing 60p footage on my phone and computer side by side I can see the difference in smoothness so it's not Gamebench's fault for this. Turning off developer options does not help either.
I think i found a solution. I turned STAMINA-mode on and off and noticed a frames boost. I measured the Settings app scrolling and read 60 fps! I didn't turn it on and off after reading the first reply because I didnt think it was the cause of the problem. So I think it is fixed! Thank you so much venomxob!

How to change screen timeout/sleep settings

Can anyone tell me how to change the screen timeout/sleep time on the M5? I've tried display, battery and security settings but it doesn't appear to be in any of them. It's a real pain trying to read emails, news, flipboard etc with the standard (30 seconds?) timeout.

Just discovered it is under Display/Sleep. But Sleep option is greyed out.
*UPDATE* Aha! Power saving mode was on. It must be enabled by default because I can't think why I would've enabled it. Sorted now.

I've had the CMR-W09B for a week now and found that when I change the sleep time it always reverts to the default 30 seconds after a while. Power saving mode not active. Installed Screebl Pro to manage timeout, but unlike my many other devices using the app, it seems to be overridden by the system and doesn't work. Whether Screebl is active or not, or what I set the timeout to, the timeout returns to 30 seconds.
This happening to anyone else, or am I just special?
I got it just turn off your battery savers

Adaptive brightness

I turned off adaptive brightness, but while manual brightness is set to maximum I noticed the screen also increases/decreases brightness depending on the outdoor conditions. Sometimes seems it gets even brighter that max manual setting.
Anyone else experienced this?
Hi @mejgs
I too had this annoying issue. Apparently this is caused by an app called "Device Health Services". Disabling it solved the issue for me. Do give it a try & let us know your observation
I noticed it too. Did u experience any issue when disabling it? I am rooting, thinking of uninstalling it altogether. Google has some unwanted apps bundled with Android one.

Disabled it, still the same issue. So far tried:
- Turned off adaptive brightness, rebooted
- Turned off adaptive battery, rebooted
- Disabled Device Health check, rebooted
- A combination of above
Still nothing!
It's getting beyond irritating now. Everytime I need to read any message or do anything on the phone need to manually lower the brightness and increase it again. That normalizes it for a like half a minute and then goes dim again.
Same issue with my Mi A3 and adaptive auto brightness.
I keep adaptive brightness on all time and when I unlock directly with fingerprint sensor half of the times if not more phone wakes up with high brightness...and doesn't go down...slider is on the dark side and not showing the real brightness...and to change the brightness I have to move around the slider...
It is quite annoying..I disabled device health and seems slightly better but the bug is still there...am I the only one with this problem?
I don't think its a bug but rather a way for the optical in-display fingerprint to properly recognize our fingerprints.

Thanks for your review, you wasted my time as well.

I tried every way I could think on but it seems impossible, isn't that hardware limited?

We're having hard times with Samsung
Hi! I love this app, even tho I think the price should be around 1.50€/$ and not almost 3. But anyways, I have two issues to report:
1. If you select WQHD and a high refresh rate, It works but stops after reboot (OneUI 3.0)
2. The adaptive refresh rate is displayed as "Adaptive" in the settings app when you activate it but when you enable the HZ display counter thing idk in the developer options it stays at 120hz the whole time (Also only OneUI 3.0)
Also can you merge the S20AdvancedLockscreen app and this one? Or at least adding the Advanced Lockscreen feature to the menu?

Hey,thanks for the feedback.
Google keeps about 30% of the total price, sometimes even more and that's why the price is so much but thanks to you I will think about it.
1.Ok,good to know.
2.GPUWatch only shows FPS (I think?) and I cannot control Samsung's software,I can only enable the feature.
We can keep in touch,if you want?

[APP][OPEN SOURCE]S20 Advanced Lockscreen - 48Hz while screen is off

S20 Advanced Lockscreen on Play Store
S20 Advanced Lockscreen on Github
Download size: less than 1MB
Requires root.
This app will switch to 48hz when screen is locked and to 120 when screen is unlocked.
Battery saving.
Added version 1.1:
App totally reworked.
Fixed crashes.
Removed toggle.
Much easier to use.
How to disable the notification:
pham_dang:
" I think he meant when there is a notification coming --> your screen turns on = it immediately starts the high refresh rate (presumably you set it at higher than 60hz). Also when never you use Always on display, although it seems that just the clock or some notifications are showing on a completely black screen, the screen still has that high refresh rate (because you set it system-wide). What this app does is forcing the everything shows in the lockscreen and AOD to keep the refresh rate at 48hz (no matter what refresh rate you set your system at). Hope this cools down the heat guys "
Simple explanation:
-pressing power button while screen is unlocked will trigger 48hz.
-pressing power button while screen is locked and mostly black will trigger 120hz.
-anything that happens after pressing the power button (while unlocked) will be displayed in 48hz (AOD,charging status, notifications, call UI,etc).
TO DO:
Add settings so the user can choose the refresh rate to be set on SCREEN_ON (if asked).
I'm fairly sure that Samsung has 120hz implemented to be dynamic by default. 120hz on lineage feels very different because we don't have any of their OneUI parameters.
Just a hunch, I haven't really taken apart the OneUI ROMs.

The only way I could test this is by running one of my apps that reads the refresh rate from Android Studio while screen is off.The refresh rate remains the same when screen is closed. If 120 is set in settings,120 is always set (nothing dynamic).
I'm sure it feels better on your ROM.

Hello, sure. The code is there, pay attention to what is written in readme file "Full project can be found on master branch."
https://github.com/TheViciousGames/S20-Advanced-Lockscreen-ROOT/tree/master
Fixed app crashes. The app will no longer crash after enabling the service.
"Context.startForegroundService() did not then call Service.startForeground()" this was the error encountered. It's very common on stackoverflow. Finally fixed it.
If someone else has this problem,it was pretty easy to fix,all I had to do was to create a notification channel and a notification builder with an id higher than 0,basically creating a notification for the service.
New version will be released later today or tommorow.

I mean..you can change to 48hz using ADB but you cannot do that automatically while screen is off.
You would have to run the command manually (to 48 and to 120) 100 times a day,I think you do not want that

you can try something like that with bixby routines but just changing to 60hz
But, may I ask, what is the point of changing the refresh rate of the screen when it is off? I mean afaik when it is off, it already refreshes at 0Hz because, well, it is off.

You're wrong, you probably wanted to say 0 FPS and not 0 Hz.Changing this helps with AOD,clock, notifications, etc, that's when the display is not really off.
EDIT:
I meant 1 FPS,because nothing is moving.
How does it save battery when the screen is off... the screen isn't refreshing at 120hz because its off already? Makes no sense to me?

You keep asking the same questions all over again. When the screen is off it still runs as a120hz screen. You could research how that works.
