Installing GSI Roms on a A10S? - Samsung Galaxy A10 Questions & Answers

Almost of the most popular Custom ROMs don't even Support this Phone at all, so I looked up GSI roms which should work on any phone whatsoever, is there a way to install GSI roms on this phone?

Most likely. Install TWRP, then flash any GSI you want to /system.
I have written a guide here but be aware that you are expected to know your way around Odin and TWRP.

Redmi note 4x (SD) Help Guide for flashing from stock MIUI to custom pie rom?

Hi everyone, I want to use a Pie based ROM. Now I am using stock MIUI 9.6 Global bootloader unlocked. What would be the best procedure to flash a pie based ROM? And can I come back to MIUI if I want? What am I going to sacrifice if I flash treble ROM? I know It's a lot of questions but please try to answer it. Thanks in advance ?

If you have an unlocked bootloader, it's going to be easy. Install TWRP or OrangeFox Recovery. You will get the instructions in the respective pages of XDA. Then, take a complete backup of all partitions using TWRP/OrangeFox, back up the apps using Titanium Backup, and then get a ROM of your liking, and install it.
You are not going to sacrifice anything if you flash a treble ROM. You can revert to MIUI 10 at any point.
But do keep in mind that Android Pie ROMs are quite new and might have a bug or two.
Unlock Bootloader first
Flash twrp
Flash cusrom
Flash GApps
Flash Magisk (if you want to root)
Reboot

The posts above me has mentioned the method to flash custom treble ROM. In case you find any difficulty in flashing it, you can PM me. The procedure they mentioned are simple enough and the steps are user friendly. Take a recovery backup once you flash your custom ROM. You can come back to MIUI anytime you want.
I had flashed ROMs for various versions including Treble ROMs. In regards to selection of treble roms, you find whichever customisation features and options you like and select them.
I find MIUI to be stable enough for daily use. In case you are a flashaholic like me then you can try all the custom ROMs and check which is stable enough for your use.
I faced a major difficulty of signal instability with custom ROMs. Fyi I am in India and the network is JIO. I found too many blank spots and lesser signal quality. Apart from that the ROMs are fluid and fast enough.

On the snapdragon G965U and G965U1 -> Not possible
Snapdragon G9650 variant is rootable, so I would imagine once rooted (and TWRP installed) you can install a custom rom.
Pretty sure the Exynos variants you need to root (and install TWRP on) the phone. I personally haven't seen or heard anything that says this phone will let you install a custom rom without root.
Can't answer the apps part... Atypically in my rooting days I used an xposed mod that hid the fact I rooted my phone from apps and they worked. Some didn't because no matter what I did they detected a modified phone. Using a custom rom makes it harder to say if apps will work as the answer depends on how well the rom's code works with the apps.
It depends on the app... if just rooting is checked they will work but if rom needs to be certified aka official they won't (e.g. GPay).

Question Why don't we see any custom ROMs yet?

This is mostly a noob question. I have been out of the phone mod game for years. But now that we have unlocked bootloaders and TWRP, why aren't we seeing custom ROMs? I thought we would see a striped stock rom or something. Sorry if this question is ignorant, I don't mean it to be.
GSIs are a form of custom ROMs, and they run alright on N200. Try one if you dare?
GSIs on N200
The process of flashing alone is conventional, shouldn't even need a thread to detail, but still leaving a thread here for search indexing. With an unlocked BL, flash an ARM64 AB GSI within fastbootd, reboot to recovery, format userdata, reboot...

Truth is, we don't have the source code yet, are still waiting on the unlocked MSM tools to fixed borked attempts, and some parts after just missing still. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait... And read all the other threads.
^^ Bump.
I unlocked my ROM and seem to have ditched the T-Mobile-branded Oxygen OS for the stock version (I probably almost bricked it!). But dissapointed to see no real custom ROMS for this phone when I search...
Not too familiar with how a "GSI" differs from an official ROM, seems to be some kind of OS-skeleton not specific to each phone? In any case, any newer thoughts?
Or are there custom ROMS for the Nord N200 budget phone, and I've missed those threads?
There's this one:

I can't personally vouch for it though, as I'm waiting for a fully working TWRP (or any fully working custom recovery) before doing much experimenting on my phone.

S21 custom roms

I come from the S9 for which there were plenty of custom ROMs
Why are there no custom roms for the s21?

I'd like to know too, also coming from an S9 where I was changing roms every few months just for fun....
The more Android progresses, the less we actually need to root and/or install ROM's. You can uninstall/disable virtually anything you want via ADB. I know that why I have moved away from them and haven't really looked back.

Definately download the stock firmware first. I forgot, and I'm having a hard time getting the right version.
I did not check headphones yet, but audio/video is all well. Currently I have another OS (Evolution) installed, I might revert back to LineageOS in a few days. I will check headphones then.
Main issue I'm having now is the mobile service connection. It's very unreliable, and the data is always off. Also on Evolution OS, so it might be the phone's hardware. (Did not check out of the box.)
Edit, okay, back to LineageOS 17.1. Don't know how, but the modem works now.
It was about this file: amss_fsg_poplar_tar.mbm
I think because I installed Lineage 19 without simcard.
I tried to flash stock ROM, but could not get it to work.
A lot of "invalid Zip format" errror messages...
So I tried LOS 17, and it al worked, then dirty installed 18, and then 20. And modem worked, but then failed.
Back to 17.1 again, and up till now no problemos.
