User @kokos00074 from 4pda has posted a FUSEd stock ROM.
It's based on the September 14 ROM. No root, no Xposed framework.
I will try this after testing Booroondook's latest 5.1.1. Kingo root works on the September ROM and I don't really need Xposed.

what mcu do you have..
I would assume that because m00n61's sig says he is using a 'KLYDE MTCC 10inch for Suzuki Vitara' that this rom is for MTCC? So question is will it work on MTCB and if not then that could be the black screen problem.

On my KLYDE MTCC unit the rom works (volkswagen with a EONON GA6153F)
Did you go back into recovery and did a "whipe all , clear cache" ?
First time it booted i got a black screen too , with only the top statusbar wich was non functional.
I read somwhere if going from normal to FUSE you needed to whipe everything, because the partitions are different.
After a longer then normal boot , everything needed to reinstall, i got to the launch screen. I did not try everything but the radio works , and the car info is nicer then my old one. The rest looked ok too.
Have mtcB kgl 2.83. Did wipe before and after but no go. Might try again.

Don't waste time. It will work only on MTCC.
This is for me the fastest 5.1.1 ROM to date. I guess stock ROM could have been also but I like FUSE
MTCC ONLY!
Here is my setup, step by step:
Part1. ROM install
Because this ROM includes a 5.1.1 recovery, the Rockchip Upgrade disk tool is needed.
1.Created the bootable SD
2. Also copied update.img onto a USB stick
3. Inserted both SD card and USB stick to unit
4. Started the unit
5. When prompted, removed the SD card
6. In the recovery menu, selected option 5: Update from USB and delete all
Part2. ROM cleanup
1. Set up WiFi
2. Installed Kingo root and rooted
3. Uninstalled Kingo root and Super Battery
4. Added Google account
5. Entered Play Store and downloaded Total Commander - it's my favorite file manager
6. Waited for updates to finish
7. Entered Settings->Apps, tab All and disabled all apps that I do not use, including Google Maps, Google App, PinYin IME, Gmail, Email and Exchange client
8. Started Total Commander, clicked Configure and checked the last option - root everywhere
9. Edited build.prop for DPI 160. I have a 10 inch screen and this is a good DPI. Plus, it uses less resources than 240.
10. Deleted all useless apps from /system/app and system/priv-app
11. Replaced MTC bluetooth and MTC Music with apps that can actually scale, from previous versions
12. Installed Quick Reboot from Store.
13. Rebooted
14. Installed Waze and Igo
At this point this ROM works as fast as a 4.4 ROM
Actually, it was so fast I put back Google Maps. GM is moving OK, not fast but not as annoyingly slow as before. I guess the combination GM + Xposed + Google App is way too much for these units. Luckily I have a Parrot BT borad which comes with ists own voice dialing so no real need for Google App.

If you pre-install Xposed and @dsa8310's MCU fooling addon (can remember the name of it offhand) it WILL work on MTCB as well.
By the way it WILL work as is on units running the last 2 or 3 versions of MTCB KLD6 MCUs as these can run MTCC ROMs.

Doh, soz, I m guilty of not reading the first post correctly and assuming that it was @m00n61 who built the ROM and therefore could also inject Xposed, when actually he just found it on 4pda.ru
But theres no reason why Xposed and root cant added by someone on their pc before its used on a unit.
I left the rom unrooted , is it normal that when i go to settings , apps , i cannot disable the gallery app ?
What is special about the gallery app ?

Its normal behaviour on Android - the gallery app is a system app and can only be removed if youre rooted.
Introduction:
As we all know, the A2017U, and G come bundled with a few themes and that's it. Well, the Axon 7, Chinese variant, not only includes more, but also a theme store that you can download from. This thread contains packages from the Chinese ROM that will enable your phone to use the theme store with a small caveat--you have to register for a ZTE Account (more on that below) and log in to it in order to download themes. ZTE's theme engine is pretty basic and doesn't really allow for much customization, but anything is a welcome addition to what we currently have.
What ZTE's theme solution does:
-Changes Icons
-Changes wallpaper
-Basic color schemes for settings, and some ZTE apps
-Changes Lockscreen appearance
Procedure
First, you'll need to register an account here. It is all in Chinese, so I would suggest using Google Translate so that you can understand what you're doing. You'll need to click the "email registered" tab because registering with your phone number will not work. Once you have registered and validated your account, you can use it to log in to the theme store on your phone and begin downloading themes.
Current issues
ZTE's dynamic lock screen doesn't allow you to swipe to unlock your phone when you have notifications and they're visible. What you'll need to do is to tap the "bell" icon to hide your notifications in order to swipe to unlock. Fingerprints bypass this. I'm sure someone talented can decompile the two lock screen apps and figure out how to change this. I won't be doing it.
Download: ZTE-A2017-ThemeStoreMOD-by-freeza_DrakenFX
This flashable will include the following:
ZTE Account
Theme Store
Lock Screen Framework
ZTE Lock Now
app permissions whitelist so these apps should automatically be granted the proper permissions
Thanks
DrakenFX for being awesome, giving me the idea to try this, and giving me the ZTE Account registration link.
Great work! I know this a stretch but wondering if this works on LOS or RR?
EDIT: Finally tried it on RR. It didn't work. Guess it's only for stock atm.
So this way you can get the stock theme on the European model?

I guess there isn't a stock theme in there, but maybe there is. Could someone confirm?
All I want is a ZIP that gives me a dark theme for apps like Settings. I don't really want to install all this just to get access to a theme store that may or may not have a dark theme. If anybody spots one in there and can make a ZIP out of it, I'll be eternally grateful.
Sorry for the noob question, but how do I install this?
@freeza, is this a lock screen, could you share the theme name to download.
@freeza it's ok on A2017U 7.0, but seem not work well on A2017U 7.1.1 .
@freeza
How to flash this on stock 7.1.1
with twrp as mount system as read only??
Or
With stock recovery
Should i need root or not
Also should i disable system write protection
I flashed this once in twrp as mount system as read-only but after flashing device stay in in the warning screen like forever

Were you rooted? or which variant are you? IF you can give a little more info, it wont be so hard to help
I registered with email, but logging in, in the app, only allows logging in with a phone number. What?
Edit: Nevermind, tapping "others" in the bottom left allows logging in by email.
Edit 2: And am I just doing something wrong, or do the icon packs not work? I thought it might just be an issue with Nova Launcher, but the icon themes don't seem to work on the stock launcher either.
Edit 3: I just noticed there's an app called Screen Lock installed now (which does exactly what it's name says) did that come as a part of this installer?

Nope,
After I applied the theme
- Lockscreen is applied for a few second, then be replace again by stock android lockscreen (not ZTE lockscreen)
- The quick setting panel not change color follow the theme, even the setting did

There's other ways, Im just not sure what's in the zip. You can check what's in the zip, what gets flashed to your system and then use root explorer or something similar to manually delete the apk/files that were flashed. Be careful though. Definitely backup before you do that.
Long story short, this is a zip to debloat your S8 and probably other Samsung devices. Please modify it to suit your firmware. *As long as your rom is from Samsung, regardless of nougat or oreo, most of the package names should be the same thus this zip should still remove quite a lot of them by default, you will need some minor edits to match your rom perfectly though.
The attached zip is what I'm currently using, there's something that I had commented out because I use that feature and never tried disabling it. Please feel free to experiment with it and modify the script as per your need. However, do pay close attention to some of the lines as activating them will cause your phone fail to boot.
If you had any error or knowledge about what certain file does, please provide feedback so that we can improve this script. The ultimate goal is to know what we can stripe off from TouchWiz ROM until close AOSP state without breaking features that we use, that includes .apk files, files of any format and even related lines in build.prop.
Also, for anyone who wishes to use this script in any way, please feel free to do so. No need to inform or give credit.
Since I do not backup my file before testing, I'm using Github to do this for me. The most updated version will be on Github.
For more information please visit Github.

How do i add themestore and remove it after applying theme? Also, flash in twrp?
Got it working nvm. Awesome work!

I do expect people here to experiment with it, as I said in Github this is not (completely) noob-friendly.
You can cross check the script with your ROM, majority of the Samsung preloaded app will be the same, the difference usually is carrier apps. Maybe I shouldn't mention that I'm using AQL5.

I see, good to know. Im using an exynos version so cant really figure that out.
You can even delete folder/file one by one by using terminal/root explorer according to my updater-script, that shouldn't make much of a difference.

Plus it is able to remove files, that's beyond the ability of package disabler.

This script doesn't remove the function that allows you to draw on your screenshot cause I'm using that too, one of the actually handy feature added by Samsung...
The reboot part, I'm not sure. Somehow when I try to add back apks directly to system via explorer, my /data partition gets corrupted with
Code:
persist.security.tlc.otp structure needs cleaning
in TWRP, only format data fixes this, and this happened to me twice so I'd recommend you to flash them in instead using the rescue zip template I provided in Github.
The script is really good, I just read it line by line but since I see some issues reported for some people I prefer to try it out later
Edit: i was thinking on replace all Samsung needed apps with Google ones like phone and dialer, anyone knows a port from those?
Hey guys
Its been a few year since I rooted. don't worry ive already spotted the guide on how to.
My question is once im rooted. Does the old Xposed framework thingy still exist?
What app are we using for govenor/kernel control?
Is titanium backup still a good option?
Basically, whats my app suite gonna look like when im done? How am I going about tweaking my phone?
I guess im asking whats your set of default apps for your rooted phone. Mangment, tweak, backuo, gapps etc
If you have the xperia xz1, which is on android 8, oreo I don't believe Xposed framework is working on oreo yet. I also believe only one kernal is working to get root, not sure if it has any governor controls though. Titanium is still good for removing unwanted bloat.
To answer about xposed, it still work on oreo but this is a beta take a look at my attachment, I have a XZ1 Running oreo 8.0.0 firmware 47.1.A.12.75 and Xposed is working on it, I flashed it through TWRP
Hope it helped
Thank you

from trial and error there isn't a lot of "safe to remove" items, I trimmed out 5 maybe 6 items before the rom got squirrelly.
This is just from memory but I got rid of avg, chrome (I use Iron browser) email and exchange, amazon and wiki links, as well as the system facebook and youtube ( to give more control over those items) Just about anything else resulted in apps force closing or other issues
Thanks guys,
Seems like its all just about how it was. Give or take a few apps.
My last thing I wonder is, how do I run barclays bank app? Im pretty sure it'll not run due to the root. Is there a way round this? Sandbox or something?
I think I just found my answer. Wondering what Magisk was ???
So with magisk I can run banking apps etc. It will also manage all of my root blah blah. Xposed can help me **** about with things. Titanium backup. And new OS.
I think im ready now ?
If you run Xposed, you lose a large chunk of the MagiskHide capabilities. You're better off without Xposed and just using Magisk
Really? That's bad. I remember xposed was fun. I shall have a read up on Magisk when I get time.
Planning on the weekend. So I can have a full day of it ?

On the latest version ( .179) , you can't use xposed with magisk. There is nothing to do but waiting right now . We have to wait beta 4 or whatever.
Ah, right.
But am I getting the install procedure correct?
Im not even sure theres anything in closed I actually want. But its an option, therefore I must put it in ?
I figured out how to reliably/permanently enable the "Flip to Shhh" feature from the Pixel 3, it works fine on my Pixel 2 XL and I made a Magisk module out of it.
Credits also go to https://www.xda-developers.com/digital-wellbeing-flip-to-silence-google-pixel-2 for pointing out the feature is located in Digital Wellbeing.
Note: after installing this module, you need to go to Settings -> Apps and *uninstall* updates to Digital Wellbeing. That's needed because the app in /data/app overrides the one in /system that the module replaces.

edit 2: Appears the modded APK doesn't install on the regular Pixel 2. If you could be so kind to port this over to the Pixel 2 that would be awsome!

That's really interesting, could you get digital wellbeing from the play store and post the latest apk here? I assume digital wellbeing isn't the same for all devices, as weird as that is...
(You're using Pie, right? I'd be surprised if this worked on Q)

Same here with the latest Pix3lfy Module. 2.9.1 was working fine... Don't have a Backup anymore
My Module enables the Flip function anyways...

According to the devs on github Pix3lify doesn't actually enable it, it only enables the menu (by manually enabling the activity). The feature doesn't actually work if you try it. Sadly patching the apk or changing your device to the Pixel 3 in build.prop is necessary (the latter causes issues with the camera though, so I'd not advise to do it).

I'm using it now and since almost 4 Weeks without Problems... Even Call Screening worked. Only Bug is the Portrait Mode in the Camera since WE don't have a Dual Camera on the Front (Compared the Media Profiles). Call Screening isn't included in my Patch since it really needs a Tricky way to enable it. Pix3lfy is focused on that and i don't want to Copy them...

They change the build.prop to the Pixel 3 then I guess. This module avoids having to spoof the Pixel 3 and getting the issue you described, but it replaces the apk

Hmm, it's indeed the same apk, are you using stock? Can you see if (without the module enabled) you see a /system/priv-app/WellbeingPrebuilt/WellbeingPrebuilt.apk?
Assuming those are both true, this might be an occurrence of this Magisk module corruption bug in case you aren't on 18.2 Canary: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ap...systemless-t3432382/post79077130#post79077130 (which would end up truncating the Wellbeing apk, making it invalid).
(To be sure, uninstall the module, update to 18.2 Canary, and reinstall it).
If this doesn't work, I can only think that for whatever reason your phone is verifying signatures of apks in the /system partition. This shouldn't happen and several other modules like YT Vanced exploit this (and I tested this mod to work without signature check patches), but in case the above fails, this module patches out signature checks:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/504024533125300224/538394292121763860/signaturepatches.zip (note: the module has to be uninstalled before any Android update and reinstalled after the update).

Yes I'm on stock with a custom kernel. I'll try these instructions out in a sec.

So I got your module to work on my Pixel 2. Seems like there was either a bug with Magisk + user error involved in me not getting it to work.

I was able to find the directory you mentioned. Even when removing the module, installing canary, and rebooting I still couldn't get your module to work. After upgrading to canary and rebooting what appeared to be Wellbeing dependencies started to crash on start up. Very annoying. I also couldn't open Wellbeing as it seemed to have been corrupted. What I did to get your module to work was uninstalling Digital Wellbeing + manually deleting the /system/priv-app/WellbeingPrebuilt directory, rebooting, and then installing your module in Magisk Canary and then rebooting. Now I have flip to shhh on my Pixel 2.
What I do find weird is that the Play Store hasn't given me the option to update Wellbeing but that's OK with me. Only thing I need it for is flip to shhh.
