Hi guys!
A few month ago, I was charging my phone with my standup desktop built in USB and sudenly stopped charging. After a further reasearch, I figured out that the problem was with the charging board, so I ordered a replacement and change it. After that, the phone started to charge again, but I never got network signal again (No service). I tried a couple of thing in that moment and I discover that the sim is being detected, but for some reason the ICCID is not the same compared with the Phones ICCID, because the former is unknown. In the urgency of having a phone, I bought what I could afford in that moment, a Samsung A12, which I hate from the first day hahaha (it is slow as my grandma driven an old Citroen!).
Yesterday I decided to investigate further, and I stumped into a forum post in Motorola official forum and the proposed solution was to erase modemst1 and modemst2 partitions with fastboot. So I did it, all the commands ran well, but the phone still dont get any network provider signal.
What do you think it may be the issue? I am really keen on bringing this phone to live again, because it is everything working just fine except this.
Kind regards,
Juan

Dear all,
I have a Legend with S-ON (1.01), and I used fake-flash to change ROMs. The mobile phone has been fine with a custom ROM for more than 3 months now.
Suddenly, 3 days ago, the phone rebooted while browsing settings and when it came back on, the device could not recognize the SIM card or connect to the network and get a signal.
The problem is weird because the device (a) can find networks if I search for them, (b) can make emergency calls, (c) connects normally to both wi-fi and the SIM 3G internet but does not:
- get signal (always zero lines)
- recognize the sim card (always asks me to rescan for new contacts, and the process fails)
I tried wiping everything, I tried reflashing, I tried flashing another ROM. The problem persists.
Would flashing a new RADIO potentially help? It is the only thing I have not tried.
I am really at a loss here. The device did not fall down, or had a knock or any other user damage. The problem started suddenly and i can'f find a way out of it.
Anyone who manages to find me a solution gets a paypal beer
PS: Something important is that the phone DOES know that SIM card is there, and DOES partially recognize it: I am asked to put my SIM card PIN, which is accepted correctly.
Hey
What I'd do:
1.)Try the SIM in another device - could be a SIM problem...
2.) As you are 1.01, there is no risk in Warranty repair, so unroot and send back to shop if the sim proves OK in another device..
Probably a stupid suggestion but i had at one point no service when my battery cover was not on...
When i was rooting mine, i kept the battery cover off because i was stuck so many times in the middle of running step 1... so never bothered putting the battery cover on...
after i succeeded in rooting, i still saw no service... but as soon as i put the battery cover on , i was able to pick up the network
@QkSi1ver: The Legend's antenna is located in the battery cover, which is why you would have had no reception with it removed.

Which could be the reason for the SIM problems : if it is not set correctly it can't communicate proper with the mobile , that's why it asks for searching for contacts ( I had a similar problem a few months ago )
no network signal!

i don´t believe it! first of all, thank u kindly for ending my nightmarish odyssey through expert forums across the globe!
that just did the trick, uber cool! and yet it sucks, because i wasted most of my sunday and half of today to solve this, wondering why nobody even mentioned connection probs.
maan, i´m tired, i´m going to bed!
I'm having problems with my Galaxy SII, on Orange in the UK. There are huge problems with the signal. Bear in mind I have recently bricked the phone, but resurrected it with a short stay in the airing cupboard.
With the SIM in, I can get a decent signal at first, but this then drops away to nothing, pretty quickly. Sometimes, I don't even get the signal.
However. with the SIM out, I get a full signal for emergency calls. At this point, it looks like a network issue, with patchy signal.
However, I then swap the SIM over to my HTC Desire, and get a reasonable signal sitting at 2 bars now. Same is true outside where I had 4 bars on the HTC, and nothing on the Galaxy.
Any thoughts on this one? I am a bit frightened of calling Orange as I no longer have my insurance with them, and their repair department is a bit unprofessional - last time I called them, they started making an insurance claim on what was a warranty issue without even telling me, until they told me about the excess I would pay.
I'm running Gingerbread.BVKI3, version 2.3.4.
Thanks.

flash another modem , i recomand xxki4 , via CWM . use search button and type : modem , click on first link and you will find a lot of modems.
OK, got to the next stage of things - I can't flash a new modem using Odin, as my phone isn't recognising. Not even without Odin. I am getting the MTP connection come up on my phone, and it is charging perfectly well, but I can't get any access to it on the computer, not even as an external drive. Is this potentially a phone problem, or is this a software/drivers/hardware problem? I don't recall any permanent problems before it got bogwashed (occasional connection issues, but easily solved by disconnecting and reconnecting). If it is a phone problem, are there any fixes? I just want to flash the modem, not do a whole system reflash. The external and internal SD cards are still working fine.
And I will need step by step instructions to achieve this. Whilst I am good with computers, I tend to leave my phones alone to avoid invalidating warranties and the like.
Hello! I want to start by telling my english is not the best so i will do my best.
I have an s6 edge 925f that is around 1.5 years old. The battery is really bad so i watched a change battery movie on Youtube, ordered new battery. Got the battery and started to open up my phone.
Everything whent well some things was hard to figure out but nothing was broken and new battery is in. I started the phone and tested functions to confirm everything was ok. So i thought everything was ok until i was going away from home and my wifi was away. Now i noticed i got none signal from gsm.
Checked my sim card and controlled all settings and nothing helped. Opened the phone again and could not find anything wrong. So how can i continue my troubleshooting? Where is the antenna and what could got broken?
Another wierd thing is when i was drivning into another village my LTE signal found network so i thought everything was fine so i drove home. When i got outside LTE area the gsm was totally off again.
Any ideas whats happening with my phone?
Best regards Christian.
Anyone?
I have the same issue. I checked everyhting and all is well connected. Sometimes it will take LTE/4G signal but the phone gets very hot. If I leave it to GSM only I do not have any problem. Temperature is normal etc.
I have same issue with my phone and i think it is GSM unlock or faulty GSM IC because i purchased it second hand from somebody
Somebody told me i can fix this issue for you just by software modifying but i didnt trust him, have you checked your IMEI is real by checking in imei.info
The IMEI is real. The location of the antenna is in the midframe? Maybe a bad connection of some kind.
Hello XDA Community,
Last Saturday my P20 Lite updated overnight. Sunday morning, when I checked the phone, the sim card picture with the (!) inside was on the top of the screen along with the message "No Service".
It had to be something related with the update (I guessed). Restarted the phone and all good. But only for a while. 30 minutes later the issue came back again. And then again, and then again. The phone works fine for a few minutes (good signal, 4G comms perfect, calling and texting too) and then it's just like someone has removed the sim card. If I'm connected to Wi-Fi, everything works except for the calling/texting.
Cleaned the slot, cleaned the sim card, network settings restored and still the same.
The solution to have network again is to turn the flight mode on and off all the time.
It seems to me that this is a software glitch rather than hardware.
Anyone having the same problem?
Thank you guys.
Same issue
Hi,
I've got the same issue here. Update just before I went on holiday and now I get a signal for a little while then it goes to no service. When it's ok you can check signal quality no problems. Once it stops it just keeps going back to main options screen, looks like a software bug to me.
Any one have any suggestions?
Update
Hi,
I've been in touch with my provider and they gave advised the usual:
Check coverage is ok - yes
Check some works in another phone - yes
Factory reset - not tried yet.
Anyone else have the same issue or an idea?
Exactly the same issue with mine since the update. Are Huawei actually going to fix this or are they just staying quiet?
What a piece of ****. After 3 days trying everything and resetting to factory still the same. No patch available. Terrible Huawei service say they're working on it.
I just went out and bought another phone. Mine is just 3 months old. Any ideas? Or is it scrap?
Support
I messaged Huawei in Twitter and they asked me to DM them but I can't for some reason. They wanted IMEI number so I'm no further on.
I have found that if you put the phone in aeroplane mode and then re-enable WiFi it is usable (except for calls).
Can anyone else message Huawei in Twitter to see what response they come back with.
Having the same problem here. Emailed and tweeted Huawei but no reply. Also experiencing slow charging, fast battery run-down, and general performance issues since the update. Phone is just 3 weeks old, bought in GB but now being used in Australia. SIM worked fine in my old British bought phone. Can't afford a new phone has anyone heard anything?
Location services
Hi,
I found that I was able to use all services if I disabled location services.
Got a popup about network time but the phone is at least usable - as a phone too!
I'm on holiday at the moment so will chase up Huawei when I get back and let you all know how I get on.
Did anyone ever get a solution to this having the same problem abroad currently
Mine resolved itself, but then come the NEXT update exactly the same thing has happened. It's been about 2 weeks now and the phone is practically unusable with fast battery run-down and slow charging too. Huawei customer service is terrible and don't give me any solution beyond a factory reset which I've tried to no avail. I'm also overseas too having purchased the phone in the UK and am now using it in Australia.
Did you guys get the phones working again?
So the phone itself, as stated is a MetroPCS branded Alcatel One Touch Fierce XL, and according to metro it is in fact UNLOCKED. It is on the latest update of the stock rom from metro I believe (Android Lollipop 5.1.1 ). so that, as far as i can tell is not the complete issue however I'm wondering if it being from metro is contributing to the issue at hand. I am using Mint Sim/Mint Mobile, they have amazing coverage in my area that I myself experienced for a week, so I'm almost positive it is not a coverage issue. Now down to the bare bones of the problem:
I got this phone about two weeks ago now, bought it in "unlocked" "New, Other" Condition on eBay from the seller Cellfeee. Had to use the unlock app when I got it but it went through fine, with no issues. Fast forward I activate my new sim, put it in the phone and experience great coverage for about a week and a half. Phone was lovely. Fast forward more, around 8:30 pm on August 29 2018 I lost service completely. Start journey into google. I have done the following:
Taken out the sim
restarted the phone
tried the sim in other devices
factory reset the phone
rooted the phone, removed metro apps and apn
done *#4636# I don't know how many times
messed with every mobile and wifi setting possible
the only time I have gotten service back was last night around 10, the phone had no wifi connection and it seemed to pick up a very strong signal that faded while i watched.
I have determined that It is NOT the sim card, I have determined it is most likely not the hardware, the only thing left that I can think of is either the ROM or the modem firmware itself. My question is, do any of you think that flashing a custom rom onto the phone could cure this? is there a way to find the most recent stable firmware for the modem and update/downgrade it to that? I've already cut my losses and bought a new phone through alcatel on their amazon link so it's not like i'm completely screwed but honestly I'm so irritated with this phone and I just want concrete answers/results at this point. any suggestions welcome. thank you for your time.
Edit: The service provider in the top corner was mint while the phone was working. after it began to fail it switched to either no service OR metropcs, now it often says metropcs even when no service don't know if this makes a difference
