Question VoLTE/VoNR settings - Google Pixel 6

Hello all,
I work for a company that develops LTE/5G cores and am looking into the IMS settings in the Pixel 6. I am rooted and applied the Magisk VoLTE patch which had my device attach to the ims PDN/APN but I am noticing that the device does not want to register to the ims for voice services, assuming this is mostly a carrier setting I am wondering if anyone knows where to change this? An iPhone connects automatically and registers without any modification.
What I am looking for is the register name and cscf IP address fields so I can change those settings and register to the IMS for VoNR and calls.
Thanks

Same here cant get my device ims registered

I was able to get it registered after a while, it is not very stable though. I went and defaulted all the IMS setting in *#*#0702#*#* and then in the menu *#*#4636#*#* and it did register and was able to make a call. No audio but that might be on my end.
Are you connecting to a carrier or your own private core?

Im connected to a carrier

Rooted with Magisk patch? Have you check and enabled VoLTE in *#*#0702#*#* menu? I have been reading that has worked for some.

Yes im magisk rooted, i installed an app called pixel ims (google it) released a couple of days ago, its function is to enable volte/vowifi but it still dont work & reports that ims is unregistered i think thats my main problem, can you tell me where to enable volte in *#*#0702#*#* specifically ? Thanks

I would take a look at this forum if you have not, it is how I got IMS to register. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/... info, you will, registration should now be ON.
Hit the menu in the upper right, select SIM1 Policy and find VOLTE_ENABLED_BY_PLATFORM. Again I would follow the link above first the Magisk VoLTE patch works great.

Is there anything to do to reset ims previous registerations ?, Already resetted ims settings im 0702 menu but nothing changed

Not sure what else could be it if you applied the magisk VoLTE patch as well. If you do the *#*#4636#*#* do you do you see VoLTE provisioned button set to enabled?

Wi-Fi calling support? Ever?

Just wondering if anyone has any official news bout Wifi calling support in stock ROM. Haven't seen the option in call settings for any ROM. Surely there are carriers that support it in Europe?

I have a H850 Europe G5 and it has the wifi calling option and I have successfully tested with EE in UK. It depends on ROM/Variant and Network.
I can confirm that is the case for my UK H850

Try this :
Dial *#546368#*850# in the phone app.
Select SVC menu.
Select VoWifi.
Enable Wifi calling.
Try a system restart after enabling if the option is not visible.
Can those who are using WiFi calling please check if this option is enabled as well as is may or may not work.

My network is EE. My firmware version is v20a (European). Yes, there is even a VoLTE toggle on the notifications quick settings.
Having looked through more of the settings in the hidden menu and it appears you can enable all those options that were talked about in the service menu.
After dialling *#546368#*850#
Enter Field Test -> GPRI_VoLTE_VoWifi ->UX
From within these settings you can enable the various options inside the call app, those with VoLTE and Wifi calling enabled please test this as well to see if the settings are enabled on your devices.

I had already checked all 5 boxes in the UX menu beforehand and still no menu item appeared in Settings->Call. Toggled the SVC menu option on "1" and reboot but still no Wifi Calling setting to be found anywhere. I'm on T-Mobile and they do support Wifi calling. I'm running Fulmics 20A w/firmware on Euro (Non US) H850 not a variant. It seems weird if the network is to be blame item making me feel like it's a rom issue but it's close to stock and I have flashed stock as well several times and still have never seen the option.
Sorry for my english but you has to have the correct efs folder whit the settings for volte enabled for your carier and the suport aps like imsconfig and a rom that suports that but if u are using fumics it should suport

VoWifi (AOSPEx) on Le Max 2 (x829)?

So, my carrier suggests for themselves it's a proprietary solution they bake into their phone roms, and may well be. However, they've recently liberalized registration for this service which suggests they may be implementing broader access for devices.
Anyhow, I was just wondering - if we are to operate under the assumption that wifi calling works on my carrier and compatibility doesn't get in the way.... how would I actually activate it and verify that it is active? Ideally on this ROM, but if it's not too deviant, any process would be appreciated.
Thank you for any assistance.
I am using official RR oreo and wifi calling works perfectly fine with my carrier.
Heyyo! Your best option for testing it is to try out AEX or Pixel Experience as ShivaTehaPeddi is the guru of VoLTE, VoWifi and ViLTE and such. :good:
I'm unsure if he has the latest Canadian APN settings but my unofficial LineageOS 15.1 builds do include them.
I'm with Fido and when I tried it with Koodo Mobile both carriers I get IMS registration failed.
To check this? Enable VoLTE and VoWifi in your settings under mobile data.
Then go I to your dialer app and dial...
*#*#4636#*#*
It sometimes takes a few minutes to open if your phone is freshly booted.
Then in the menu select IMS status and hope for the best.

With respect, that addressed literally nothing I asked.
I'm not on your carrier. I'm not asking if voWifi works generally. Etc. etc.

ZTE Axon 7 VoLTE lives on Treble. Updated V2!

VoLTE Mod for Axon 7 Treble!
Hey ZTE Axon 7 Treble group,
Ok I've been working on this VoLTE for a while now on spare time. I've had multiple devs from other forums test it out on phones for their GSI. They confirmed it's working. I've also had multiple testers from the Axon 7 Trebleshoot group test it and confirm it's working. I know for sure it works on T-Mobile/T-Mobile based carriers but don't know for other carriers. Here is the modified package.
Enjoy!
Requirements
1. Phh-based GSI
2. TWRP Treble
3. System/Vendor with Decryption level support
4. Compatible carrier that supports VoLTE
5. No complaining about the process to install because trust me it was alot more work for me to modify the apks internally and put together.
Installation
1. Extract VoPackage zip.
2. Install ims.apk in the package.
3. Reboot, let it fully boot and see if you have VoLTE, if not go to next step.
4. Reboot to TWRP.
5. Mount /system and /vendor.
6. Flash VoMod zip.
7. Reboot and check your ims registration by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and going to the 3 dots in the top right corner to check IMS Service Status. It should say registered.
Update V2
Do the same installation of Version 1.
Added Ims Settings to /system/app for improved stability.
Support
@phhusson for his great work in treble development.
@raystef66 for file structure implementation.
Special thanks to also the Axon7 (s)GSI Trebleshoot Testers!

AFAIK in Poland, if GSM provider (in my case Orange PL) doesn't enable VoLTE for a specific model of the phone this functionality doesn't work (I still get unregistered in IMS). So for me, it doesn't work, but still thx for the effort.
I've changed the automatic (PRL) setting in IMS, because I got no mobile data, to LTE only and I got VoLTE icon and in IMS it says 'registered" so maybe it really works. THX again.

Nope, phone process goes in crash.
But it works well in Bliss ROM pie.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Ill be testing this on verizon. Currently on RR6 with VOLTE working great but RR6 has not had an update in over a year so I'm jumping to pie GSI in hopes I can get VOLTE working.. Ill post back about my results.. THANKS
After every reboot I get asked to set up my SIM card. Is there a fix for that?
I wanted to report back on the SUCCESS with this patch on GSI OMNI Rom. It works with VERIZON MVNO. I was able to turn on VOLTE inside the phone information testing screen and be connected to LTE towers for voice and then make an HD voice call with no issues. So yes VOLTE has truely returned for PIE GSI.
Working using Liquid Remix, Verizon.
I have to disable and re-enable roaming and data every so often.
Preferred Network Type should be on LTE/CDMA not Global in both Phone Info(*#*#4636#*#*) and under Mobile Network -> Network Type
All the patches stick, it's the phone radio option that doesn't stick on some reboots.
There are other radio types that show registered, but don't allow for sending MMS.
Thanks @kountry83 HD voice sounds so great.
Just noticed my MMS doesn't work while this is installed.
With VoLTE activated using patch and LTE enabled in IMS I can call other phones, but when others are calling me they get only information about my phone being busy at the moment.

Mine works fine. Maybe a clean flash will work and make sure your APN has the MMS in it.

Clean flash and make sure system and vendor mounted.
Ive been using this VOLTE fix with verizon MVNO redpocket and discovered some helpful hints I want to share with anyone having issues. These tips only apply to verizon but may work on tmobile or at&t.
1. In the phone info screen *#*#4636#*#* in the 3 dot menu there is an option for select radio band, toggling this between some of the other options seems to help voice get on LTE. With verizon it seems that swapping radio band to a CDMA only option cellular 800 may get you back on and then you can swap back to US or leave it alone.
2. Check IMS registration under the 3 dot menu and confirm that you are registered, if you see unregistered check to confirm the IMS.apk is installed, if you see registered but cant make calls but can text then go back and toggle the radio band till you get both.
3. the preferred network type also seems to matter but not as much as the radio band. Of course if you have this set to something that is not available to you it wont work at all, for example verizon requires LTE/CDMA or LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL) there are some others that work but the auto (PRL) types work the best. So make sure this is set correctly for your provider.
4. Make sure your settings under mobile network are also setup, like enhanced 4G LTE mode is switched on, preferred network type matches the same you picked for phone info screen etc etc.
After the following are correct you should be ok, if you have any other issues I suggest reflashing the volte zip or reinstalling the ims.apk. Ive also had to reflash my rom and gapps which also helped but is a pain in the butt.
Follow up..
HRM over on telegram gave me an awesome piece of information about how to fix the issues with your VOLTE package, specifically IMS registration in PIE that come up randomly or by doing things like sim swaps. I know Kountry83 is working on fixing these issues. But if you need LTE back and are frustrated and did one of the following this will help.
1. sim swap,
2. loss of LTE for extended period of time & IMS wont re-register.
This is what you have to do. Reflash vendor and kernel and then reflash modem. After I did the final step to reflash the modem is kicked in and fixed all the IMS issues. It seems that perhaps vendor gets corrupted or stuck maybe modem or both do. re-flashing kernel is needed if vendor is re-flashed it seems. in any case i am super happy to know there is a fix when you do a sim swap. These issues seem to affect verizon users more then tmoble or at&t. In the past I thought flashing just the modem would work but it was not consistent
.
Any updates on this since last july?
Not sure if anyone's still using an Axon 7 but this still works! I was able to activate VoLTE on my Chinese Treble Axon 7 on H2O (AT&T). Took me a moment to meet all the requirements but installation was pretty straight forward after that. Many thanks!

No guarantee it will work, but you can try inputting the following codes in Phone > Dial pad to disable carrier check (to re-enable it just input the same code again) :
For Enhanced 4G (VoLTE) :
*#*#86583#*#*
For WiFi Calling :
*#*#869434#*#*
For my case, WiFi Calling option appear but not working.
Good luck!

Don't need to reset phone, just restart if you want. Then check :
Settings > Wireless & network > Mobile network > Enhanced 4G > ON
Phone > Settings > Calling account > Sim1/Sim2 > Wifi calling > ON
Like I said earlier, may or may not work. In my case, wifi calling is still not working.

I just followed the guide and have both vowifi and volte enabled in my wife's mi A3.
It goes without saying that I had previously enabled the vowifi in her carrier.

Wifi Calling and 5G doesnt work, can we somehow hack this?

Hey guys,
neither my Wifi Calling, nor 5G doesnt work on my Redmi K30 Ultra. Not sure whats the deal behind it, maybe its the Mediatek chip or that it doesn't pass Safety Net or that its not made for Europe.
Anyway: Can we hack this somewhere? Maybe modify some props or something and magically make it work?
Thanks so much! <3
More info: I've done the usual stuff like activating Wifi calling, VoLTE and 5G in settings and also disabled carrier check via number code. I also tried all 3 big carriers in germany
Telefonica/O2: Nothing works
Vodafone: LTE "works", it shows an HD icon at the top but Wifi Calling doesnt work and 5G doesnt either. Shows both VoLTE and Wifi Calling as enabled in Phone Info.
Telecom: Nothing works, but it shows in Phone Info that VoLTE and Wifi Calling is enabled.
@Mirardt
Per description the phone supports Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE and LTE, so I think it's not a chipset problem. Carriers will typically sell these data services with smartphones as part of a bundle.
I guess it is a problem with carrier ( data plan chosen ). You can try to contact your carrier and check if everything is correct from there end.
In no case your issue has something to do with SafetyNet API what is an anti-abuse API application developers can implement.

Sometimes they just block per device model (supporting only phones that were certified for their network) and you need to convince them to let you in
Or, you could (again) play with props like ro.product.manufacturer and ro.product.model to pretend you have some fancy Samsung - bcs if it shows enabled in the settings, it's likely blocked at the time of handshaking and negotiating to use the service
It's also possible to capture the UE Capabilites offer (see attachement for my LTE part) and response - I will try to find where was the URL with know-how and instructions

Do I understand it correctly, that all the methods you linked there only work with Qualcomm chips? Cause the K30 Ultra does have a Mediatek chip. :cyclops:

If the doc is only about Qualcomm, you will need to Google for e.g. MTK bands UE Capabilities
But MTK was usually more open, people were even able to easily change IMEIs.
There used to be a code for MTK Engineering mode, with options to enable bands and so

Ok do I understand correctly that UE Capabilities are parameters that my devices has that sends information if it can do 5G or VoWifi and so on?
After a bunch of Apps that refused to work with my phone (unknown device not supported) I did found one that looks promising. The problem is that I have only littly orientation and understanding. Can you see what setting might be relevent and maybe if we can get those UE Capabilities changed inside the app?
What I tried is switching the "Entitlement Status" of Wifi Calling on "Enable" (It was disabled as I opened the app), but nothing changed. The Entitlement server is left blank, maybe that could help?
Also I just swapped every possible thing from "false" to "true" inside ePDG Config, but it didnt help so I reseted it.
If you (or anybody else) could have a look and give me some direction I would grind it out myself!
edit: Upload doesn't work on this forum somehow, strange. Here is the Gdrive link.
Ok I just looked through every single option their is, screenshoting everything that seemed relevent.
There is band information that seems like it is what you mentioned and it is editable! @zgfg
Also a couple of other direct mentions of VoLTE, like props in IMS settings.

Very interesting, (as expected) you can control many things on MTK ( too many)
For LTE bands, I think you need bands 1,3,7,20 and you don't need TDD bands.
For 5G, googling tells me that for Germany you need: n1,n3,n28,n78,n258.
Suggesting you to double-check for your operator and enable what's missing and reboot.
B20 might be available in a shopping center, or dense busy district
In the Call* and IMS-Registration* screensots, are all those params enabled or you need to open another screen for each (modes)?
On the IMS, I would put VoLTE to Default, not to CMW500 - seems to be a mode for testing equipment.
Also, you could try SMS over 3GPP or 3GPP2 (that means SMS over IMS but when you register to IMS), but check does it still work over cellular
Last screenshot says that it's not registered to IMS, but seems there are additional settings for IMS authentication (that's about registering to IMS - VoLTE is an IMS service)
I pretty much tried everything out you suggested and it didnt work. Thats why I waited to work on that until I freshly reset my phone with GApps Pico and I did that yesterday. During the Installation process there are 2 question came up:
1. There are Google Carrier Services I can install through play store. No clue what it is, does it matter?
2. I have found multiple interesting sounding apps in system/priv-apps like "engineermode", MtkCapCtrl", "MtkTelecom", "MtkTelephony Assist" and "MtkTeleService", the only one I can find in Apps is "engineermode" and i didn't manage to open it. I tried to install the other apks but it didnt allow it. Anything that might help us?

Tried everything but it made no difference. Also tried IMS test mode on with and without SMS.
Also it keeps saying its not registered in PhoneInformation1.
Should we try to change those numbers in the VOLTE settings to something like this?
Edit: I activated logs telephony logs and somehow got a bug report without even calling somebody. Uploaded it.
