I want to make sure that my phone is actually switching... I always hear that Boost SIMs download all kinds of junk but that hasn't happened on my device (it downloaded zero things) and I'm not connecting to n77 even though AT&T says it's everywhere here so I'm not sure if it's a CSC issue or what.
You can check the current csc in the about section of the settings->about->software-> then look at service provider software version it has your current csc in that

Sorry guys, I know this is a really stupid question, and I have tried searching around, but I don't seem to understand what the importance of the CSC is?
My phone was originally from O2 on PAYG, and recently I updated it to KE7 using odin since O2's firmware wasn't out. I didn't do anything to change the CSC, but the debranding guides seem to recommend this. Does not changing my CSC to the XEU or whatever have any effect?
Currently Kies says my phone's CSC is KD1 (O2U). I tried using the *#1234# method to find out my phone info, but nothing comes up in the stock dialer when I enter it. The numbers simply disappear and nothing happens. Is this by any chance connected to the fact that I'm on generic firmware but didn't change the CSC?
CSC has an influence on the phone's product code, it's like the version of your firmware. Your product code and CSC will change when you debrand it to a generic firmware or any other firmware for that matter. So your CSC is most likely to be changed already, if it hasn't then do a system reboot by going in to recovery mode.
Does it matter that I haven't changed my CSC to match my generic firmware? Are there any compatibility issues in this situation?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
CSC says in effect UK phone use UK settings + list of UK network providers settings .
There are no compatibility issues if it finds your network .
If it works leave it as it is .

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 and I flashed a Stock 2.3.5 Rom to my phone because I screwed up flashing a previous Rom. The Rom I flashed appears to be defaulted to Poland, I managed to change the language, but for some reason I can't get any Cell reception, I am unable to send texts or make phone calls. I checked the CSC and it is: XEO - Poland (Plus, Era, Heyah, Orange, Play). I don't know much about phones but this appears to be an issue since I don't live anywhere near Poland.
I have a Telus Sim card but it appears as if my phone can't connect to their network. Additionally, before flashing this Rom I was pretty sure that my only option in Network Operators was Telus, but now I have Telus and CAN Rogers Mobile INC. When I attempt to select Telus from this list it says "Registering on TELUS..." for around 2-3 minutes then says "Unable to connect to network, try again"
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
When I go to About Phone>Status it says..
Network: Unknown
Mobile Network Type: UMTS
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not roaming(although this appears to switch on and off, despite me being well within Telus coverage.)
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: S5830XWKS2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL654989
[email protected] #1
Build number: Gingerbread.XWKS9
Do I have to install a Telus Canadian version of the stock firmware for 2.3.5 or could I possibly install stock firmware for 2.3.4 and update it through kies to get the appropriate CSC?(My phone is able to connect to Samsung kies)
I don't care if my phone has 2.3.4 or 2.3.5, either one would be fine with me.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, ask me any and all questions.
MAJOR EDIT
I put *#7465625# into my phone to check the Network Lock and Sim Lock's and it turns out
Network Lock [ON]
Network Subset Lock [OFF]
SP Lock [ON]
CP Lock [ON]
Does this mean that I can't connect to to the network because there is a lock on it? If this is right I assume I need to go to Telus and have them unlock it, right?
Edit: I phoned *#2263# to get into a frequency selection screen and I selected: WCDMA Band Preference>WCDMA 850
Telus runs on 850/1900, I have the option to choose 1900, and the option to choose all(850/900/1800/1900/2100), there's also an option to choose "Automatic", should I stick with running 850, or risk running automatic and have it randomly jump around for unknown reasons? I know 850 will work in most areas I go, so it wouldn't be a serious drawback.
I think it's best to use the Telus firmware.....

I'm not entirely certain, but I don't think Telus has any official Firmware that the public has access to. If you have found any that would be appreciated, but as far as I'm aware, companies don't put that kind of thing out into the general public.
On Telusmobilitys site if you go to the section to update software I can see Samsung Galaxy Ace on the list but it says 2.3.4 and there are no available updates, which means I can't update it through that method.
Is the CSC being different an issue or just a small annoyance?

I'm a Singaporean but my Ace is set to XSR (or XER I forgot)

I don't think I clarified this in the op, there is only one option in the CSC list, which is XEO, Poland, I presume I need a Telus CSC, however, using the list found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163
I can't find one that would work for a Telus phone.
Edit: My phones Network is now connected to "TELUS" and Service State is "In Service" but I still have to send messages 3-4 times before they finally say sent, sometimes taking up to 3 minutes to send a simple message.
If anyone knows any way to fix this I'd greatly appreciate it.

I would like to know what is the difference between Phone and CSC on Odin 1.85
and also would like to find out whats the right phone and csc for my phone, after I rooted I lost complete mobile network reception inside my home.
I'm on giffgaff, which runs on O2 network,
before I rooted my kernel was xwkj3, and I had xwkj1 I think for my modem, but I don't remember
I have rooted using this CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_KJ3-v5.0-CWM5.tar
after I had a read around this was the right modified kernel, but since then I can't make calls or receive calls inside my house, only when I'm outside, and what strange my gf has an htc hero, with giffgaff simcard, and her phone always have reception inside the house, like my use to, I know is not the sim card, as I have tested on her phone and works like hers 3 bars, and I have all the mmsc and apn all setup accordingly to giffgaff, so I know is not that.
narrows down to the wrong CSC or Modem, other than that I can't figure this one out, and I have flashed and reflashed with odin several times, I don't even bother updating my software and apps, cause I know it will all be gone from my internal mem card,

in the most sammy roms , CSC is included in PDA zip or .tar , try CheckFusDownloader_v2.1.exe , and search for original ROM for u'r network , download it and flash it with ODIN 1.8

Root has nothing to do with network .

Any modem will work on the Giffgaff network .

Thats a fact of your network or possibly modem .
narrows down to the wrong CSC
CSC nothing to do with it especially if you have set network manually or via the Giffgaff apn settings tool .
Suggestion would be to flash the KL1 modem .

I´ve just flashed i9300XXELLA and now I cannot make any calls or send text msgs. Whenever I try to make a call it tells me I´m not registered on a network. I went to "Mobile Networks", "Network Operators" and selected my carrier but I keep getting the same msg whenever I try to make a call. Everything else is workng perfectly.
Does anyone know which CSC I should be using in Brazil and how can I change mine?
Check your IMEI from the phone. Does it start with 00?
No, it doens´t start with 00. It starts with 35.
I´ve tried doing a *#272*imei# but nothing happened when I typed it into the phone dialer.
Can´t I just flash another CSC via Odin? If I can then how do I know which CSC to use?
I´ve found a CSC file for Vivo (my carrier) on this site http://androidfirmwares.net/PhoneCSC3 but I have no idea if I can simply install it and if it will be compatible with my current rom.
.

CSC is not needed have you actually entered the network settings .
CSC see the CSC thread in the stickys .
Basically use CSC that came with the phone carrier .

Odd, I am in Australia and I flashed the Polish CSC to ensure I get updates on my S3 and I can make calls and everything... weird!

Can I install this CSC (ZVVALE6 ZVV VIVO Brazil) on i9300XXELLA?
Any CSC on any firmware .

so the imei matches the one on the box?

Just bought a samsung SM-N690F/DS. Newbie with rooting. I tried root but got stuck on SAMSUNG screen logo. I playing with TWRP and end clean whole the phone. I can only booty TWRP and get to DOWNLOAD MODE. I'M looking for the stock rom but i need csc code not sure which region my phone is? is way to find out...I find download mode...but not seeing anything look like csc code. Thanks for any help
Your phone can have any of the supported CSC codes, you just have to flash it.
For start just flash the latest and everything should go back to stock, use this link (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/SM-N960F/DBT/download/N960FXXS8FUC4/1511407/) or use frija for faster download speeds. It will show as Germany but it is universal(for exynos - N960F - make sure the F is exactly your letter, there are more linke N or U).
After that you should find your country csc code, you can go to this link and select your country(https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/#SM-N960F).
CSC codes are dependent of region(like country) and carrier(SIM network provider). You can choose a specific carrier or use your country(this should have all your country carriers included and no carrier bloat apps included)
