Been using the virtual cam tweak but annoyingly it plays the audio out loud instead of directly into the camera/microphone input.
I'm wondering if there's a tweak that does this? Or if it can be developed, surely it can be. It's just redirecting the device audio directly into the microphone input. I absolutely couldn't find anything though through my searching.
For example
right now;
I play video using virtual cam
The audio plays out loud
The microphone picks up the out loud audio & uses it as microphone input
The audio quality sounds awful & picks up loads of background noise
What I want to do
I play video using virtual cam
I can have device muted for myself, but the audio of the video still goes through mic
Sound quality is perfect & no background noise is picked up since it's device/video audio playing in mic

Oh! I don't think there is any, on web.
But you can try making your own with a headset, If you can understand this:

Al Klein's answer: You connect your audio output (of whatever) to the mic input of the phone, probably through an attenuator (because most audio outputs are much too high for a mic input): Ignore the speakers, resistors and switches.

Would like to get reasonabe sound quality to video even outside and a little wind...
If you have a sponge, cut out a tiny piece and stick it around the mic. It prevents the annoying blowing sounds. There really is nothing else to do about the wind sounds.
If you want 44,1 kHz audio, you need one of the custom roms that has the HQ camera mod.
I just did a test with 2 different earbuds w/mic. the Camera app doesn't seem to use the external microphone when recording video, it just uses the internal mic. When I used the voice recorder app it does indeed use the external mic and makes a huge difference.
I have a Rode videomic at home. I'll try it later today vs a headset but I expect the same results.

For the voice recorder app it just uses it automatically if its plugged in, same as playback is when you plug in headphones.
Unfortunately the Camera app does not operate this way which should be the normal or standard way of working when you plug in a headset/mic.
I would call it either a bug or poor design. Not sure if a hack could fix it and I don't think there are any 3rd party apps that record in HD and same quality that would use the mic if plugged in.
Do you think it's possible in any way to monitor from external mic (while recording audio) trough a bluetooth headset?
That way you could have cable free audio monitoring which would be particularly useful when I connect my external mic with a splitter cable to both the SGS II and a Zoom H4n.
I'll have quality audio for sure but I hate to be connected to my recording device with a cable for the headphones.
And I'd like to do just that with preferably the hardware I currently have.

Recording video using an external microphone is possible, using one that's plugged into the 3.5mm socket. It appears, however, that you need to be running a ROM that's based on 2.3.5 or higher.
Another thread (which I now can't find) said that you might need a 'Y-splitter' (to split the phone's 3.5mm socket to separate headset and microphone connectors), but these cost very little.

Recording videos using an external mic works with my SII on Android 2.3.4
So since I am using a S3 now, if I get a Zoom H1 or a Rode Videopro, will I get stereo audio for my video recording?

I have a bit of a particular situation, but I think others may find the answer useful too.
Here it is. I have an A2DP bluetooth receiver that I'm using with my HTC Desire Z. I want to be able to send voice call audio output to the receiver (while using the phone's built-in mic).
This would effectively be the same behaviour as plugging in a regular stereo audio cable/earphones to the 3.5mm jack. Music and call audio are routed out over the headphones, but in order to talk you have to use the phone mic.

I would like this to happen as well. I am very disappointed in the Bluetooth gateway in my car. (Blackberry)
How could one force a callers voice through the the media audio? it might be as simple as changing the output using a hack on the phone dialer apk, but I wouldn't know where to look. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can record incoming call in a buffer and then play as a2dp like a music player.

As of now I don't know of any software solution to lower the mic gain when recording video.
However, I've heard that using the headset that came with your phone (earbuds with mic attached) while recording video should use the mic on the headset, which will result in better audio (albeit in mono instead of in stereo, but that's a small sacrifice) in the video recording. I've not tried it personally, but you could try that out.

It doesn't have to be the headset that came with the phone, I think any headset which you can use the mic in calls should work.
My Zagg Smartbuds worked fine with this method.
I made the usual mistake of trying to record video at a (rock) concert last night on the S2 and the sound was appalling - levels way too high and distorted beyond belief. This happens every time so I really should know better.
Does anyone have any handy hints for getting half-decent sound from concert video recordings, or is it basically a waste of time on this device?
As far as I know, no-one has managed to lower the microphone volume. Just do yourself and everyone around you a favour and leave the phone at home and enjoy the concert.
I agree with oinky, but if you're on a stock based ROM, then an option for you is to bring along a headset that has a mic and plug it in while recording. Gain using the headset mic is acceptable, but it will then only record in mono.

SGS2S have build-in stereo mic??
AFAIK SGS2S record mono despite internal or headset external mic so tip with headset mic can actually be a proper solution.

Yes. Uses both mics (regular voice mic + NR mic) for stereo audio recording while recording video.
I wanted to know if when you attach a stereo external mic to the s9+, does the phone record the audio in stereo, or mono? I've heard that the s9+ cannot actually record stereo audio from an external source, only mono, but it does record stereo audio from the built in mics.

sorry I don't have an answer to your question. but I do have a question to you. if you record a video with a loud music does the video sound gets lowered or sort of compressed?

As far as I know, the s9+ has automatic level control so loud audio would be lowered and compressed.
It will record in mono, as the connector is only a TRRS 4-way connection. Left+Common+Right++Mic. There is not a physical connection for two channels of mic input. You would need to use a OTG USB audio adapter with two channels of audio input.

I am unable to make a USB microphone work with the S9+via OTG, and have not been able ot find out why. One person suggested that Samsung "locks down" their USB drivers to prevent call recording, but I have not been able to verify. In any case a HUGE dissapointment.

That's disappointing. I guess if I want stereo audio for my videos I'll just have to keep using my dslr camera with my stereo mic attached. Thanks for your reply.
