Any idea when it's coming out for Verizon?
- R. Kruse Ludington
Galaxy Note 8<-5<-3<-S3<-Nexus; Droid X; HTC HD2<-Touch Pro 2<-Tilt<-8525; O2 XDA II<-XDA
I believe that Oreo will start droping Jan - Feb... T-Mobile and Xfinity first Sprint and Verizon Last...just guessing though...
Beta should be coming soon. For most countries in Europe. But it still is pretty disappointing that S8 got Oreo and Note8 which uses similar hardware didn't. Plus Samsung could support Note users after Note7 failure.
And porting Oreo to N8 from S8 is really difficult. First beta didn't boot for some reason and getting a logcat with Samsungs new security is bit more difficult. Second beta has even more security which makes it even worse.
Did You guys hear that all Oreo devices have to use Project Treble? So once we get official Oreo we can boot Generic AOSP on our phones!
Coolness

Currently it's just disabled in build.prop(S8 beta) but Google requires all manufacturers to use and enable Project Treble. Doesn't seem like any Oreo betas have it. But official releases will be forced to have that. It's not recommended anymore. Now Google forces all manufacturers to use it. Samsung is already using HIDL in Oreo beta which is a good sign. But still. They have to give us Treble. Otherwise Google will be mad lol idk.

Nokia 8 just got Official Oreo and doesn't have Treble . We'll see what Samsung gives us in the final release. But for now I feel like August Nougat is the last update Note8 will ever get.. I'm starting to feel bad for selling my S7 Edge. My friend has S7 and he already runs Oreo on it. I think even Galaxy S2 has Oreo.

I don't think that's how Treble works. The news that XDA had yesterday was that it seemed easier to port an AOSP ROM. You still need to be able to flash it, and as long as the Snapdragon bootloader remains locked, there won't be any custom ROMs for our phones.
The good news for most of us is that security and core Android updates won't be held up by the manufacturers and the carriers.

I'm glad yours is more up to date than my UK Exynos version. I bought it on launch day and had a update that day and that was it. In my opinion that's not good enough for such an expensive phone. But I'm a sucka for Samsung phones so guess I'll just get on with it.
Ps it's not tied to any carrier, so I'm waiting for a update directly from Samsung.

Yeh but im not into unlocking bootloader anymore. Reason I'm complaining mainly is that I'm way behind on security updates and my Aod is killing my battery hard, so I'm hoping an update will fix that. Otherwise the phone is working great.

hi everyone
i just wonder when we can get Android 8 oreo for Galaxy C7
such a smartphone with this performances 4G of ram, 64go internal memory, powerfull processor qualcomm 626 (8 X 2.02 ghz) ,1080p resolution.................
why theres no develepments for this device ?
no roms port no custom roms !
hope android 8 come soon
Oreo will not come for the C7. Samsung has a specific update policy. S, A and Note series are getting two major updates. The other series are either getting a major update or not at all. For example, the J series gets one major update. The C series is a local series. The C series is a special series to the far east. It is also now joined with the J series. The other name of C8 is J7+. As a result, if the J-series receives the single major update, the C-series also receives the single major update. The only major update of the C7 was Nougat.
Do not hope for Oreo.
ok i get it thank you so what about custom roms ported roms ?? also there's no development for it !!!

No!, C-series will have two major system update!
Samsung has recently post a notice in the Samsung Members app, the notice said that it will have Oreo update in October!
And also the what u said in your word, that all J-series won't have two major system update, but J7 Prime will have Oreo update too
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Today, I have a question and I got this answer. This is good news for us but there is always the possibility that Samsung can change this calendar. Because in the past, Samsung had deleted many devices in the Nougat update calendar and did not update them. They have already written that they can change it in the answer they give. All we can do is trust Samsung and wait to update.
By the way, the comments I made about the single update of the J series came up as a result of my observations. I have information about this in my country as a source at epey.com. The site is writing the first Android version and the latest Android version of the devices. If you take a good look, you will get something like: S, Note and A series devices are getting two major updates and the other series are either getting single updates or not updating at all.
The C series is a new series. For this reason I can not make a definite comment. But C8 is called J7 + in different countries. And since the J-series gets one big update, I think it's the C-series too.
In the old Nougat update calendar, many devices from series J would receive the second major update. But the times were all removed from the calendar. I said I should trust Samsung, but not trusting is the best option. We will be happy if the update comes, but we will not be sorry if it does not.

But what if Samsung change it's rules of system update?
Likes Apple, they maybe change their rules by giving two update on C and J series, and three update for S,Note and A series. Like what Apple did on their iPhones, they give their iPhones three iOS update, iPhone 5s get iOS 12!
So I think Samsung may change their rules by comparing to Apple

Apple was already giving more updates than 2 major updates. The iPhone 4S came out with iOS 5, but was updated up to 9.3. The iPhone 5 came out with iOS 6, but was updated up to 10. The iPhone 5S came out with iOS 7, but was updated up to 11 and this is the latest update of iPhone 5S. So Apple gives 4 major updates. Samsung always gives 2 major updates to some models.
Of course, Samsung can make changes in the update policy. But as I tell you, Samsung is a brand that can remove many devices from the list over time.
I say again: If the update comes, we will be happy. But let's not hope for updates. If the update does not come, we will not be bad. :good:

Well, we can see C7 Pro have beta update of Android 8.0.0 on SamMobile. But it doesn't mean all C series will get that. May get as you said. Because there is two reasons;
-Pro C series come with 6.0.1 stock. But Samsung changed their UI like Android 7.
- That series released in 2017.
I can't understand Samsung in this regard. There is Android 7.1 available when they released. But why Samsung stayed on the 6.0.1.. I don't know.
In short... On mine opinion don't hope to 2016 C series will get Oreo... May get, may not. Depends on Samsung...

It is literally known as meme-ui the whole Android community gives out about it, it is a meme for how bad it is.
Your better off going with an aosp rom as your privacy and data will be safe, Android one just gives it all to Google aswel.
Read up about these things first don't just go blindly flashing stuff coz it's "cool".
Plus it's a lot heavier than an aosp rom which will eat ram and battery on the device and probably result in a decrease in performance.
What is the reasoning behind wanting miui so much? Just out of curiosity.
Is there any way to install gsi on mi a3? tried to install resurrection remix through fastboot in "A" slot (fastboot flash system system.img) but phone doesn't boot.

What you are saying used to be true.
I hated Miui when I first tried it in 2017. Recent Global versions of Miui is fantastic, I prefer using the customized Xiaomi/EU rom.
AOSP has its merits, but the Xiaomi Meme thing is honestly outdated and frankly silly.
and after so many jokes and history classes, and explanations of the boy who works at bestbuy, is there any way to use MIUI in the A3?

What's so bad on using 3rd party apps to have those feature? I for one have zero interest in call recorder, screen recorder, app lock, second space or any of the MIUI apps and I'm glad that these, for me useless apps are not part of the system. That's why I always choose clean Android. If you know that you need such features, well, buy a phone with MIUI..? Even if you somehow manage to boot MIUI on A3, it won't support OTA updates and most probably some of the essential features won't work (e.g. FP sensor).

If Mi CC9e had a global MIUI (not English / Chinese only), there would be no such conversation. But since there are a lot of people who like MIUI more than Android Stock, there are a lot of people looking for MIUI for the Mi A3!

Xiaomi has 4 phones with Android One and at least 20 with MIUI. A3 is nothing special (except the Android One program), why on Earth would you choose it over any other phone with fully supported MIUI out of the box? Just to complain that you miss things which are deliberately not present?

I am not familiar with MIUI phones as I find zero interest in them. If there is no such phone, I guess you need to make a compromise somewhere.
Most recent phones have excellent camera with gcam mod.
Guys, MIUI has its benefits, but stock android is not that bad either. I just love stock android.
But it seems many people are regretting buying this phone. Maybe someone will port MIUI for A3 someday, meanwhile you can follow the video shared by @ozankardes, it looks promising. The video is not in English, but I guess you can pickup the important bits easily. Good luck!
I tried the MIUI ROM in the video. it work.
ROM belongs to MI CC9e. Only 2 languages. English & Chinese. You can use morelocale2.
-No Google apps.
-Auto brightness is not stable.
-Fingerprints don't work.
Everything works except what those.
I tried a few more A/B GSI roms (Flyme 8, MIUI 11). None of them worked. Maybe only will work GSI A roms I don't know. We need to do more trials.
The global version of the Legion phone 2 I bought from Giztop just showed up like 10 minutes ago. I haven't finished checking it out yet, but so far it looks like they have actually been able to put the global rom on the chinese version of the phone. Fingerprint works and so does the front camera which I think was an issue with the previous Legion phone. Here are some screenshots of what I have seen so far during setup
So the global version comes with all the usual Google apps set to default and as far as I can tell nothing from Lenovo. The fingerprint reader is noticibly faster than the Chinese version though I don't know if that is from the software difference or not. It was never very good no matter how many times I redid it on the Chinese rom. The factory screen protector also feels different so that may cause the change as well. Always on display still goes to sleep after a few seconds so that is no different. Notifications so far are working correctly without any kind of configuration required. I also tried changing the launcher. It can be done, but when you swipe an app and hold it just dissapears instead of showing all the running apps. So it sort of works.

The global version of the Legion phone 2 I bought from Giztop just showed up like 10 minutes ago. I haven't finished checking it out yet, but so far it looks like they have actually been able to put the global rom on the chinese version of the phone. It is the Chinese phone that they changed the rom on. The box is in Chinese, the booklet in the box is in Chinese and the sticker on the back of the phone is in Chinese even.
I got the 16GB/512GB Global model today from the Lenovo store. Going to play with it now

12.5.102 ST, February 1 2021 security patch. Do you also have a problem with the Google search bar? I can't remove it. Also the camera and Legion app have a strange ZuiSkd name.
But further it's a great device. Very fast, great speakers, almost stock Android.

My version is 12.5.062. Does the always on display work properly in your version? I have the same issue with the Google search, which is annoying since it takes up alot of room. That reminds me, the camera app in the Global rom is way better than the Chinese version. It is faster and has a way better layout for image editing.

The always on display turns itself off after a few seconds, which makes it pointless since it is supposed to be always on.
The Chinese rom has some built in apps for the phone, contacts and texting and alot of random Chinese preinstalled apps that are pointless unless you know Chinese of course. It also is slower at loading apps than the Global version. It is very noticeable with ebay and google news. However, it is not a true direct comparison since my phones have different ram and storage sizes. The Chinese rom also has a security thing that frees ram and kills apps even if you tell it not to. It also has an option to download more themes, which the Global version doesn't seem to have. Otherwise I can't think of many other differences. People say the Chinese rom will get more updates, but that is not worth it to me.

Totally false. The cn version with global rom is missing b66,b71, and n71. So the hw is somehow different
I dunno how is it for Duel 2, but i had Asus ROG II (Chinese version) and it simply missed some bands too (it was hdw difference between global and chinese rom) - but honestly i didn't find in real enviroment any difference (living in UK)
Edit:// Hope Lenovo will realese new global update, those notification are annoying AF! Like i absolutely dunno if i got some message, it just simply that icon dissappear from status bar, like wtf , not mentioning still having issues with my hotspot, always have to use usb cable for hotspot, otherwise getting error >.<
I have read through multiple outlets the Galaxy Tab a7 lite is due for the android 12/OneUI 4 update. Has anyone received it yet? I saw it was due sometime between June-August 2022.

Hi, I already update to Android 12 and there are not many visual changes because of the One UI layer, but I wanted to ask if you know anything about an update to Android 12L, I wish you could have an interface like the stock one. Greetings to all from Latam
OMG, there are few thing i hate android 12, one ui 4
first no way to turn off RAM plus, this device only 32GB, now force use RAM plus
second half of app when tap back, it act like we press home key, keep running at background, so some app will not refresh when open back
third, samsung keyboard no more do spell check, that option is missing
and what the point show date on top of screen? i know can turn off
How is the overall update experience with A12 ?
I'm still on A11 don't know why but A12 on this chipset is something I'm just waiting for something to flag this overall update as unstable

I downloaded it in the USA this monday. Apps and web pages seem to load a bit more smoothly and quickly, in my experience. I haven't noticed any other differences, but I haven't hunted for them, and I'm using Nova Launcher, which may be hiding any potential cosmetic changes.
