This ones to all you SGS2 owners...
Today whilst takin' pics of my son, i noticed whilst pointing the camera down at my cream coloured carpet a pink hue was clearly visible in the centre of the shot. I took a snap and the hue was on definitely there... this was during the day time with only ambient light from my large bay windows...
slowly panning up across the room towards the window it seems to fade away, but directly at the light surface its unmissable...
I double checked the shot on my partners DHD, her shot was completely pink, very poor camera!!
Anyone elses S2 suffering from this? a quick google search shows this has also been an issue on other handsets such as the Nexus One and Samsung Focus...

if someone more have the classic tint pink of cheap cameras like other HTCs I am going to cancel my order inmediately.

Can anyone shoot to white walls or cloudy sky?
It is the faster way to see if the camera have the pink tint.

just to add, this has been the only time ive noticed this issue, shots taken across the room show no visible signs of this, just the straight shot...
tbh, with the quality of all the other shots ive taken, its not a deal breaker for me, this phone still blows away any other ive used, and i don't find blank white walls/carpets interesting enough to take photos of...

That sure looks like something I read about some HTC phone a while back. I'll need to check my phone to see. I wonder if it's software or hardware related.
after some testing i believe this is a software issue, specifically with the AUTO White Balance setting, as i point it to the cloudy sky out the window it looks perfect and when switched to incandescent it goes away!!
like i said before, i don't make a habit of shooting my carpet or my white walls very often!

EDIT: when switched to Daylight mode, it also goes away, although it makes the carpet look orange for obvious reasons... Definitely a White Balance issue, the lighting and colour of the carpet requires the correct setting as opposed to the Auto mode, outside or with good lighting the Auto setting is fine! as far as i'm concerned, panic over! lol

That it isn't a white balance issue, it is a hardware problem. HTC got the same problems on a lot of devices before, and they tried to hide it tweaking the colors, but that doesnt solve the real problem.
If I were you I will return the phone for another one.

then why when i switch to the correct WB setting for the lighting i'm in does the issue disappear?? the issue only arrises in Auto mode under certain lighting conditions. just took a white sheet outside on Auto - No issue!

Maybe in a non-auto mode they know the color temperature that software will apply to the image and then they can tweak the pink tint of the image, but with an auto mode that changes dinamically the color grade they cant adjust the pink tint.
I really dont know, but all of the pink tints problems in all other phones are hardware related issues, I don't know why this is going to be different.
i get exactly what you are saying, but i'm only going by what i'm working out on my device...
at the end of the day, like i said before, its not a deal breaker for me, and ive not had a single issue with it in other lighting conditions...
Also, ive just walked around my room allowing the camera to adjust dynamically, and it does disappear!! i have a standing lamp on, a small window on the opposite wall, and the large bay window at the front of the room, the pink hue is not permanent and is just the Auto WB not being perfect.
Its even visible on video, so i'll upload a vid of the pink disappearing as i walk around the room and the light changes dynamically! Auto WB issue for sure!!

Just registered after seeing this...
A pink hue like you describe usually means infrared contamination, and happens on any camera to varying degree. Some black clothing in direct sunlight suffers the most.

I'm just uploading a video to Youtube 720p - WB AUTO
You can clearly see the pink hue fading in and out as the phone auto adjusts to the varying lighting in my home, namely Incandescent light fittings, Fluorecent light fittings and daylight outside.
If i set the camera to a setting for one of those lighting conditions specifically, there is no issue in said condition.
I will update this post when its uploaded with the link - THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT HUE CAUSED BY HARDWARE - ITS SOFTWARE STRUGGLING WITH THE LIGHTING CONDITION!! - phew!!

EDIT: the hue becomes very apparent after pointing the camera and any of the light sources directly then quickly moving to a white surface, it then gradually adjusts away...

I doubt Samsung will use the low quality camera sensor that HTC uses buddy.

not sure its the same buddy, it appears in the centre of the image and fades out, i'm 100% certain that this issue is WB/lighting condition related, 10mins and the link will be up if your interested...

I can't agree more there, you should have seen the same shot on the Desire HD, the carpet was entirely pink!! not just a spot in the middle..

BTW I just checked my phone and observed the same situation as described by Dickie. After checking for myself I'm certain it's software related. They may need to tweak their auto white balance algorithm.

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the display's color saturation and color balance? While the screen is eye popping to look at, the colors are not accurate. They are distinctly warm and oversaturated. This is great for looking at icons, but not so great for photographs. I know the international Galaxy S II has something called "background effect" where this can be set to 3 presets with varying saturation levels. But this option is missing on the AT&T SGS2. I found an app called Screen Adjuster in the market, but that only lets you increase saturation or change color balance by increasing the intensity of the Red, Green, or Blue values. There's no way to turn them down.
So has anyone figured out a way to adjust this? Thanks.

+1 on this.. I am a professional photographer and I used to use my I4 to present my portfolio. As of today I can't do that, or I have to do re-do my portfolio specifically for the SGS2's display. Which I really don't wanna do.

Thanks for this! At least with that the color temp is somewhat fixable, but overall colors are still terrible. As long as Samsung insists on locking these devices into torch mode we're just screwed. It's a shame that this didn't ship with several selectable profiles like the regular version (although I never seen it so dunno how good that implementation is.)
Working on hardware calibrated monitors all day and then looking at this phone is a bit jarring.

I totally agree! My wife's iphone 4 looks way better with photographs. To me, photos on this phone look cartoonish.

This would be great. Caartoonish is exactly what it it. However, we need to keep in mind these displays are far from professional grade. I won't argue that some software could help bring a small level of 'professionalism', however.

Well I checked out Screen Adjuster and it has the ability to change R,G,B values along with the brightness and Contrast ... so that's enough to for me to use me Eye-One Pro to calibrate the screen. I just need to put grayscale and R,G,B targets to the phone.

Great find! Do you know if CM7 is a requirement for this? This may be the best option for color correcting the display.
I just realized that with Screen Adjuster, you can change the color balance by adjusting the relative values of RGB, then turn the Brightness down to compensate for the elevated brightness levels. Without turning down the Brightness, the black pixels are no longer black. So it's a pretty decent solution.
Just got Screen Adjuster, are there any recommendations for "optimal settings?"

I'll look into this - I'm surprised you find yours too warm, I think my phone is a little on the cool side - without a doubt bluer than my Infuse.
If it's supported by the I9100, I can probably find the relevant kernel interface.

Problem is... just like calibrating a TV/Monitor is that it doesn't have High Bias and Low Bias R,G,B. High Bias changes the whites and Low bias changes the black.
Also, unless you plan on using your display at a constant brightness level, you will get color shift in the lower end of the spectrum
For what I have done is create an 18% gray jpg and a 82% gray as well as a 50% gray.
ON MY display the whites is on the warm side... but there is nothing one can do about it, because the apps just don't have those value to change
ON MY display the blacks are also very warm...
I WAS able to use my i1Pro (spectrophotometer, unlike the cheap colormeter) to get it pretty damn close to 6500k in the Black and Mid-tone.... again nothing one can do in the whites.
I am 90% happy with the results (I'm anal, but I can't do anything with the whites!)
My settings might get you close to 6500k (most likely not.. because ever display is different, and from what I see here some are too warm/cold..etc).. My settings are to use with Calibration from the Nexus One thread, and they are set up to have a warm mid-tone
Red: 627, Green: 623, Blue: 665
Mind you that I also am using CM's 7.1 with the brightness custom level set to my likings...
But it's night and day difference (if you are looking for realistic color representation). A lot of untrained eyes like the eye popping colors, while a calibrated display is much more subdued.

I keep getting a force close after I install the apk. What version did you use? The app installs fine and will open but when I try to adjust RGB, I get the forced close. Thank you!
While using my Tablet throughout the last month, one thing has really been bugging me. The screen seems to be very yellow. Rather than showing white screens as white, they're off-white, greys look a bit darker and greener than they should. The color temperature of the screen is very warm, and it bugs me. Anyone else experience this? Or do I just have a bad screen?
Better question, does anyone know of a fix for this? I'm hoping it's not a hardware problem, but a software one.
Try taking a screenshot ("n" + volume down) of this and let us look at it. I'm guessing if its yellow to us as well, its s software issue. If not, its likely a hardware issue.
Judging by your screen temp, early guess its a hardware problem, but lets see what the screencap shows.

There is app called Screen Adjuster that you can grab from the market. It will allow you to change the color of the screen. I use it for night reading tobreduce the blue.
Just remember to disable it when installing apps. Otherwise the install button will be disabled.
Alright, so I grabbed a screenshot and sent it to my Droid X, which has a totally neutral color warmth, and the shot looked perfect. That's a little depressing, but still, something tells me that it has to do with the stock B&N, cause I know Google did something like this with the Nexus S for "enhanced contrast" or something like that.
I know this is probably wishful thinking, but I'd still like to believe there's a way to fix this.
Also, I tried Screen Adjuster, but it doesn't seem to fix the problem. It seems to just put a filter over the screen.

Touche. I did try the fix listed in there, but it didn't work (for a number of reasons). The problem has essentially been ignored since then, so I'm assuming either it doesn't bother that many people, or I have a defective unit. That's why I'm asking if anyone else notices it.
Though now this thread does seem redundant..

The Nook Tablet also has a very good factory display calibration. Its gray-scale is actually more accurate than most living room HDTVs. The White Point at 6,016K degrees is somewhat more yellowish than the 6,500K standard – that was most likely done in order to increase the screen’s maximum brightness, power efficiency, and battery run-time.

I just got a Galaxy Note and have some questions and concerns:
1. The speaker seems very tinny and distorted anywhere close to maximum volume – almost like a blown speaker rattles. It sounds like I am talking to someone via two tuna cans and string. Can you crank your speaker phone volume all the way up without any distortion?
2. Screen color saturation: The colors are way too over saturated. I’ve made the cursory adjustments to brightness and found one interesting app called “Screen Adjuster” and while it allows for general color balance and contrast changes, it won’t let me do much anything with saturation. Anyone know of any apps specifically designed to do this or how to adjust color saturation on this gadget?
3. Screen in general: I had to turn off Automatic Brightness as it seems the screen was dimming/lighting every few seconds. Has anyone else had this issue with their Note and perhaps might have a fix?
4. I’m assuming the only way to get the “Yellow Pages” (YP Mobile) app off and out of my contact list would be via root and a custom ROM, eh?
Any help appreciated.

No.get a custom recovery and flash the yellow pages zip u dont have to rooted for that or changing modems

Regarding screen saturation, I've read on some other threads that there may be an option in the ICS international version for this setting but I haven't found any definitive screen caps to confirm this. If anyone running ICS can, that would be spectacular.
I've scoured the app market to no avail. I humbly asked the very swell fellow who wrote "Screen Adjuster" to see if he might write a fix but I'm not sure how difficult this might be.
The bottom line is what many people perceive as "color pop" to me isn't at all. It's a simple over saturated display problem. I'm a photographer and one of the reasons I got this device was to be able to lose my Asus Transformer and use this as an on the go gallery display device, but I'd never show anyone my work on this gadget - it's simply so far off of what real colors look like.
I may have to send it back at the end of my 30 days. Damn shame as I am really coming to like some of the other pluses.
If I figure anything out, I'll post back as from reading other threads there are more than a few people who aren't thrilled with this.

Hi Guys, got the v10 (h969a) since a week.
After years with amoled, i expeted to find a very cold screen color temperature with the ips.
Well, it' not as yellowish as my note4/s6.edge was, but it's not so white as the g4 is.
I think it's not related to my model, if you search for comparison v10 vs g4 on youtube you see the differenc..
So, is there an effective way to make my screen whiter??
I've found tons of app that apply an overlay, but it's not a good solution.
I need something more effective.
