Both work without removing your data. All they do is give you the power to uninstall apps that are system apps that are bloat and not actual system apps
Never used either of these 2 before, but am interested.
Can you use these both without root, or does the phone have to be rooted?
Do they only remove the system app and nothing else, the phone won't reset etc will it?
Also, do you need to redo this a lot on each android firmware update? Will updates generally reinstall some apps you have removed?
Regards
James

They can be used without root. What they do is just removing the apps from the list of installed apps, their aren't physically deleted from the phone storage, so there is no need to reset the phone. Regarding updates I don't know.

I'm no expert here but I think that to fully remove carrier customisation you need to flash a different CSC through Odin.
I just use ADB to uninstall the packages...
Mine is unlocked so might not have much bloat as yours....

Both programs, universal android debloater and adb app control both have lists built-in and if there's one you don't know what it is or does, it shows the package name (com.android.whatever.app.calls.itself) in both programs so you can search for it online for a description of it
I have used universal android debloater and didn't even uninstalled all recommended and the result is not so good because I am not able anymore to install EXPERT RAW. I should have installing from the beginning, before to try the debloat
For some reason export didn't worked but I manually did screenshots. Can you please tell me what broke the posibility to install EXPERT RAW in camera?
I am not using Samsung account, just logged in with google account instead. It is mandatory to use samsung account for this particular camera plugin?
Thanks in advance!
No clue, I don't use that app but how are trying to install it?
You can sort by uninstalled and have "install" for each application which will ofc install it back.

You're trying to install expert raw from the debloater?
If it was already on the device then I'd restore all the apps and expert raw included, then remove apps again and not remove expert raw.
Otherwise you have to leave the Samsung Galaxy store to install it from there
As I mentioned, expert raw was not installed, I have discovered after debloat that the camera raw install method is from camera app itself but now is not possible anymore, nothing happens when tap on the icon.
Some samsung modules/system apps are missing, installing back everything doesn't solve the issue.
I will reset to factory defaults, and I will login to samsung account just to be able to install expert raw and then I will debloat again (what exactly is not clear atm).
I know battery life on this model is not bad but I want to make it more efficient, my problem is that some of the apps from the provided list shouldn't be removed and I don't know which one is.
All I want is to keep everything related to camera capabilities, other thinks like microsoft apps, knox, sasung acccount, galaxy store. bixby and some google apps I don't need because for sure they are running in the background and are eating from the battery life.
s23 ultra is too new, recommended apps from universal android debloater are not safe to remove, at least not all of them so I can't find anywhere a SAFE LIST to debloat for this phone.
Any point into the right direction will be much appreciated.
Thank you!

Unfortunately I don't think there are multiple lists of what you can uninstall. The lists in both apps I suggested are all safe to remove and the phone still work as a phone without anything extra. My only recommendation is that you just remove a couple things at a time and make sure that your camera still works as you intend it to. I wish I could be of more help, I'm sorry.
Hello,
I fixed the issue, actually is very easy. The list I initially provided (via screenshots) is fine, you just need to install back galaxy store and from there search for expert raw without being logged to a samsung account and then install it.
I haven't pay attention, the galaxy Store app name is com.sec.android.app.samsungapps.
Many thanks for your involvement!

Hi I'm new to the development scene, I am trying to strip down a rom to remove certain programs... actually everything but the web browser, firefox 5 and flash. I would also like to set a default background in the image and preset the wireless settings too. These are going to be put in an environment where we don't want them to be messed with. Is there an easy way of doing this? I was thinking the ASOP rom might be the best candidate to work with, but I don't know for sure. I ill be rolling out about 20 - 25 units in the next week or so. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe
Your best bet is really probably to use the latest stock ROM so you don't leave root access and google market in there. You could probably acomplish your roll out by setting up any rom the way you want it, then wiping cache and user data, and running a nand backup with CWM. Then use that backup to restore onto the other devices.
To remove system apps in a ROM you can use ADB from a PC, or you can root it with z4root and use Titanium Backup. Then remove root before the backup.
thanks for the info
Thanks a bunch! I will try that when they come in. If I clear out the user data will that wipe out the wifi settings? To remove programs via ADB I still would need to be rooted correct?
Thanks
Joe
Yes clearing data will wipe wifi settings. I have never tried ADB on an unrooted device. You should jsut be able to activate debug usb and have it work jsut fine. But you can root with z4root and then UNroot with z4root when you are done with doing your root things (but befor eyou make a nand image).
Just search for z4root.apk
removing special apps
I'm having trouble removing the facebook app, youtube app and the gmarket app. any tips? I cant find them in the titanium backup app. any tips on removing these? getting rid of these apps is of the up-most importance. - these will be installed in an environment where we do not want people to have access to these apps. an help would be appreciated.

They are installed as system apps. You would need to use something like SystemApp Remover to remove them (it can also backup the system aps incase you want to reinstall and also convert nonsystem apps to system apps). But, you do realize that there are other places for users to get apps to install than Market and you can still reach Facebook & Youtube via the browser once the google apps are removed!!!!
Hmm
I tried the system app remover they do not seem to be listed there It looks like they are short cuts to web pages, at this point I would settle just for hiding them, do you know if it possible to hide those. I am using the factory build on the 1.2 tree.
Thanks
Joe
Use the instructions posted here on the CyanogenMod Wiki to get rid of whatever you want.
And, there's really no need to use things like z4root on the gTablet. You can get root without that. In fact, if you can connect to the tablet using adb, then you're already root. The gTab is not like a locked-down phone.

I do believe you are correct...the stock TapNTap had the ability to save Web Links as Icons on the home screen. Not running stock and don't remember if there is a way to remove them.
z4root is handy to gain root and install busybox/superuser without having to set up adb though.
Hey! i just moved from a Xperia M to a LGF60 and seems that LG bc its medium-low end has removed the following apps: QuickMemo+,Stock Browser,Music Player,Gallery,Tasks,Flashlight,QSlide,Videos,Health,Voice recorder, Caculator, Voice commands, SmartCleaning,SmartWorld and maybe im forgetting some ones + some crucial and basic configurations.
I found apks of Music Player,Gallery,Smart Cleaning,QuickMemo+,SmartWorld, Calculator, and Voice recorder, only S. Cleaning and QMemo+ were installed succesfully and working 100%. When I tried to install the rest of apps, they show "App not installed". I searched on the root folders for odexs files or whatever they are unpossibiliting the install of those crucial apps and nothing was found.
There's any way to make them install succesfully 100% like changing package name, compilation number, removing sign, etc to make them install? *I'M NOT ROOT, AND WON'T BE, bc i have a secure contract w my carrier and that stuff* Someone can tell me how to change those properties on apps easily on PC or my phone? Any developer that can help me? If someone agrees i will send the apks i need to install :highfive:
I'm actually using a lot of third party apps for everything, and since always for me that is a horrible thing and they look nothing stock UI and ruins almost the whole experience of the UI.

Well, I have the same problem... Where did you find the stock apps for QMemo+, Gallery, Music, etc? I went mad looking for those with no results.... I'd really appreciate if you can share where did you find those.... You can send a private message to avoid spam if neccesary.
I read that you can use a custom ROM to solve the problem, but i'm not sure to do that... So if you can share those apps.... and by the way I also can't connect to lg pc suite via usb because I don't have the "LG Software" option on the USB plug menu... I just have "charge", "MTP" and "PTP"...
Thanks in advance!!
I have been going mad trying to find the lg music apk is there anyway that you could send me a link to where you found the apk please id be seriously grateful

does anyone know where i can get it?
i need the rom/firmware/operating system (whatever the terminology is) for a united states lg f60 that works with metropcs.
if anyone knows where i can find please get back to me quickly. i can't use my phone w/o it. can't scan anything, can't take pictures...basically freakin doomed right now.
oh, the file needs to have the .kdz extension with the software i'm using to try to restore it.

I just have a quick question I am a data privacy freek and I basically have an android tablet that I want to wipe it clean completely so it won't even turn on just to nothing.
Then I want to install a fresh version of android again.
If you know of any guides that will help me out please post them so I don't take up much of your time. Even if someone could just write me a small tutorial?

Hi there,
Well I won't back up from a challenge,
anyways there is a way but it requires alot of steps
doing a full system erase wont delete the apps however you can root the tablet so you can remove the app permanently. The apps you talk about are system apps which are impossible to remove without rooting your tablet. If your okay with ANDROID ROOTING HERE ARE THE STEPS;
1. SINCE YOU'RE USING AN UNKNOWN BRAND YOU CAN ROOT YOUR TABLET VIA KINGO ROOT
HERE IS THE LINK: https://www.kingoapp.com/
2. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF FIREWALL AND ANTIVIRUS
3. AFTER DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING FOLLOW THE ON SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS.
4. AFTER SUCCESSFULLY ROOTING YOUR DEVICE YOU MAY PROCEED TO GOOGLE PLAY AND DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL TITANIUM BACKUP AND RESTORE
5. AFTER INSTALLING THAT OPEN THE APP
6. OR IF YOU WANT YOU CAN INSTALL ANY SYSTEM APP REMOVER APP FROM GOOGLE PLAY ITSELF
7. BUT I RECOMMEND THE TITANIUM IT HAS MORE FEATURES AND MAYBE IT MIGHT BE HARD FOR YOU BUT STILL TRY THE APP OUT
THERE YOU GO ALL THE UNWANTED APPS ARE GONE NOW HOWEVER IF YOU USED TITANIUM APP THERE IS AN OPTION TO REMOVE THE APP PERMANENTLY SO WHEN YOU ERASE THE TABLET NEXT TIME THE UNWANTED APPS WON'T BE THERE

Ok many thanks !
so now how do I remove the rom
Hi all!
Last time I modded a phone was cyanogen mod on my samsung galaxy s (yes no number), and from back then I remember that simply uninstalling stock apps caused problems when updating.
Since that's what I want to do again now (too much bloat on that phone...), I wanted to ask if I still will be running into such issues with it.
I dont want to change the ROM, just remove a lot of the apps I dont want/use, will I still be able to get updates from xiaomi w/o problems?
Thanks for reading, much appreciated!
Yep, no problems with updates. Right after receiving the phone I removed (from the system and via adb) a lot of preinstalled bloatware, including some Xiaomi apps and the phone was updated to MIUI 9.6.22 without any problems.

i already uninstalled what the system allowed me to w/o root, did you remove anything requiring root (i dont know what adb is...)?
My device is not rooted, for most bloatware concerned root is not necessary while using adb.
See https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/debloating-xiaomi-poco-f1-safe-to-t3836119 and https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/bloat-poco-f1-tested-t3836457 but read them thoroughly, as there are some comments that some of the safe-to-remove services/app are indeed required to properly operate the device.

thank you very much, i even found out why i couldnt get updates any longer back in the day (with root):
These two commands respectively specify that the system app will only be uninstalled for the current user (and not all users, which is something that requires root access) and that the cache/data of the system application will be preserved (which can’t be removed without root access). Therefore, even if you “uninstall” a system application using this method, you can still receive official OTA updates from your carrier or OEM.

This might not be the right place to ask this question but I have been lurking here for a bit and am hoping someone can help me out.
A quick bit of background. I just recently started using Android Tablets. So far all I do with them is to read ebooks, browse the web in an emergency, and, wirelessly access my Xfinity live TV and Peacock streaming service. I have 3 Onn tablets (7", 8" and 10") one of which is Android 10 and the other two are Android 11.
I have absolutely no interest in anything Google and have disabled pretty much all the pre-installed apps based on guides I found here. The only pre-installed apps I use are Files-by-google and Gboard. I use the Nova7 launcher. I do have a google account and access to the google play store but only use it in the extremely rare case I want a purchased app, otherwise I download APK's from sites like APKMirror and APKPure to my PC, validate them using MetaDefend and VirusTotal and then load to the device via usb.
I also have no interest in any cloud based storage.
In general I have all goggle apps disabled. In the rare case I do use the play store I have to first enable Google Play Services and Google Play Store and then once the specific app is installed I re-disable Google Play Services and Store. Also I only go online to use the Xfinity and Peacock apps, everything else I do offline.
So everything worked as I wanted it until at some point I allowed an Android 11 "security patch" to install on one of my Android 11 devices. Immediately I could no longer install any APK file on that device (see attached). Note that previously I could install apps with the Nova7 launcher, the Files app, the Files-by-google app and Firefox, all of which are enabled to install unknown apps. Now all of these methods result in the same error message (see attached). Still no problem installing on the Android 10 device or the other Android 11 device that I've kept from updating.
So does anyone know how I can get back to being able to install APK's? I've followed the standard recommendations of restarting the device, making sure install unknown apps is enabled and reset app preferences and the only thing that I see to do at this point is a factory reset. A factory reset would cause me a whole lot of pain to set things back up to how they were before and I'm not even sure that a factory reset is guaranteed to fix this.
Can anyone help me?
A factory reset won't undo the update.
If that is the cause and there's no work around you would need to reflash to the version without the update. System upgrades/updates tend to break things...

That's what I was afraid of.
At this point for $59 I can throw out the old one and buy another but that brings up the question of how to disable system updates.
Would rooting the device solve the problem?
So far I've been able to do everything I wanted to do using adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 <package_to_disable>.
But given I'm going to throw the device out if I can't fix this, it seems like the perfect candidate to risk trying to root.

The Package Disabler app that you showed in your screenshot looked like a better way to go that what I've been doing which is to use Application Inspector along with ADB but I've had some problems trying to install it.
For one thing they change a couple of things in MI settings and I don't have that category of setting. The bottom line is that I still haven't been able to get PD to work although the set-device-owner command did seem to work and resulted with the following:
C:\ADB>adb shell dumpsys device_policy
Current Device Policy Manager state:
Device Owner:
admin=ComponentInfo{com.pdp.deviceowner/com.pdp.deviceowner.receivers.AdminReceiver}
name=
package=com.pdp.deviceowner
isOrganizationOwnedDevice=true
User ID: 0
Enabled Device Admins (User 0, provisioningState: 3):
com.pdp.deviceowner/.receivers.AdminReceiver:
uid=10156
followed by a whole bunch of other stuff.
At this point it seems best to forget about Package Disabler and just continue with Application Inspector and ADB but I'm worried that the device owner change I made is going to screw me up sooner or later.
My question is do I have to do (yet another) factory reset and reinstall all my stuff or is there an easier way for me to undo this owner setting?
PS. I suddenly got a notification "this device belongs to your organization" This must have something to do with the owner thing.

User ID: 0
Enabled Device Admins (User 0, provisioningState: 3):
com.pdp.deviceowner/.receivers.AdminReceiver:
uid=10156
followed by a whole bunch of other stuff.

Not sure as I never used that approach. I use whatever comes in handy...
