If you've had Magisk flashed before you need to reflash it again, go to the steps below the Clean Flash and do the same again, then reboot and you should still have Magisk
Post-Install: (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE MISSING ESSENTIAL APPS FOR THE CAMERA & XPERIAPARTS)
Due to some weird ROM bug not all apps are installed by default, head over to the Download folder and go to the Post-Install folder and download all the APKs then install them manually, this step is HIGHLY recommended.
For the Camera button I suggest Installing Key Mapper and then configuring it as in this and this picture. (Screen off button detection is only available for rooted users)

Hi Sakuu, nice ROM. Something I was waiting for.
Sadly it seems like I have no phone number, but I do have LTE.
I did have some issues with not being able to connect if the modem blobs were invalid, but I've yet to see this problem. Any ideas?
Edit: I flashed stock A13 back and I still have no phone number. I don't think this ROM is at fault.
Edit2: Well this is embarrassing. I put in my work SIM and that one worked immediately. I think my SIM card just offed itself, very unfortunate timing.

I had some issues with the SIM card too but just changing the APN fixed it, also with the phone number I think it pulls it from your Google account or something? But you shouldn't have any issues calling or stuff like that. It just doesn't show up in that specific page, that's all. I've also had my SIM die too it was very old and scratched so yeah at that point they need to be replaced.

Well, that's the problem. Calling and getting called was fine, but SMS was broken. Bit of an issue with 2FA and setting up whatsapp. It randomly "fixed" itself some time later but it still says unknown number.
Experience so far is a bit all over the place.
The great things:
The amount of customizability is amazing, so many things I can change to what I want without having to resort to lsposed and magisk modules. Especially button control was an absolute pain in the ass to setup on the stock rom.
Having magisk boot images makes life a lot easier.
Finally a toggle between "sane" and native res.
Extensive power menu is nice
Did I mention it looks great?
Very clean ROM! But I think leaving out a browser is maybe a bit too clean :>
But some things are not great...
Lots of slowdowns in the ui. It is very clear that the phone is not outputting 120fps at times.
Very poor battery life compared to A12 stock (with root and some mods, but nothing power related)
Missing fingerprint rejection. Trust me, if I lock the phone with the button I do not want to unlock the phone with 1 microsecond.
Device is a bit too trigger-happy waking up. I have the device laying next to my on my desk on the wireless charger and it seems to trigger for no reason.
I'll be using it a bit more and share some of my experiences, but so far it looks very serviceable, a lot better than some GSI roms definitely.
Regarding power, not the first time on new boot battery life was poor. I'll be doing some testing and tweaking the settings to see if it improves with some settings (or by itself).

Regarding the browser, Play Store and GMS are installed by default so the user can install whichever browser he/she wants without forcibly installing Chrome as a system app and then having to disable it if they don't want it. Also about the fingerprint vibration and the device waking up, in case of the fingerprint I think there's a option in either AOSP mods or somewhere in the settings to disable it while the screen is off and for the screen waking up randomly, you can just disable waking the display when it's plugged in under the "Display" option.
Performance and battery life is a bit hit or miss right now, yes the kernel needs some work but I'd need pretty active testers to test new kernel images for me, kinda like how Freak07 does it. And after that battery life should be massively improved and the heat reduced too. And ofc that kernel will all the changes will ship with this/future ROMs going forward.

A. Bugs
Did you find a bug or problem?
Make a logcat and put it in pastebin/hastebin. I'll look when I can
You will need a computer, adb installed, usb debugging enabled on the smartphone and a usb cable.
Here's how to do it here.
1. Open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Linux/macOS).
2. Type:
Code:
adb logcat -d > logcat-dd-mm-yyyy.txt
This will save the log to logcat-dd-mm-yyyy.txt.
B. Magisk
Please do not ask me about compatibility with Magisk.
The i9100 Kernel (3.0.101) does not support namespace to work.
C. Root
PixelExperience does not contain software engines to support root access support for legacy devices such as LineageOS. No patience to adapt / develop a solution.
For now, the builds are rootless (forgot to warn).
I'll check a way to bring compatibility when you have time
D. Error 7
ROMs android 8+ require TWRP with version 3.2.3 or higher because of the security script to ensure that it will not be installed on different phones, avoiding major problems.
The Pixel Experience is no different. In order for you to have OTA updates or success in clean installation, you need to update TWRP.
Upgrade from Samsung stock ROM to latest build using ODIN 3.13.1
Also recommended for devices with Android 4.4 - 5+
Read this post.

I had to give couple of clean flashes and a lot of reboots to make it working.
Pixel setup app kept on crashing on first boot and couldn't bypass it.
Finally managed to boot.
All working fine so far but with some stutter and slowness
I have upgraded from Pixel Experience 8.1 with a dirty flash (only cache and dalvik wiped). It was running with the first boot. All the functionality I need is working well. But it is a little bit slower than 8.1.

I am aware of this and looking for solutions to optimize
Flashed this ROM the other day. The UI seems very slow and stutter-ish with this ROM.
I wanted to flash another ROM today, but i just noticed, that connecting via USB is not working anymore. When I go into the setting menu, everything is grayed out.
I tried different ports on my computer as well as different cables.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

While I was trying to find a way to flash another ROM I discovered, that probably my Micro-USB-Port went bad / defective, because I would get weird behaviour when connecting it to my PC (connected - not connected - connected every 2 seconds).
So I am pretty sure this issue is hardware related. Thanks anyway for your quick response!

I had to give couple of clean flashes and a lot of reboots to make it working.
Pixel setup app kept on crashing on first boot and couldn't bypass it.
Finally managed to boot.
All working fine so far but with some stutter and slowness

When you finish installing the ROM by TWRP, do the cache cleaning before you reboot, ignore all the initial configuration and make the menu settings.

Installation instructions:
1. Make sure you have TWRP installed on your device to be able to flash the rom.
2. Download the latest build from the link above and copy it to a place where you can find it later.
3. Optionally download GApps for using the Play Store and other Google related services from here: https://opengapps.org. Choose ARM as architecture and 9.0 as the OS version. The size of the GApps package is upon to you how much apps you want to have preinstalled. Copy this zip aswell to a place where you can find it easy later. If you download it with Chrome or with the Google Drive App it should be by default in the Download folder.
4. Turn your phone off and press Volume UP + Home Button + Power button at the same time until the splash screen appears. Then your device should boot into the recovery. There you wipe following partitions: Data, System, Cache, Dalvik if this is your first install. All of your installed applications get lost by this. Your photos, videos etc. won't get deleted if you haven't ticked the box for internal storage. As the kernel also supports F2FS i would change the filesystem for the cache partition from ext4 to f2fs for a better system performance. Now go to the main TWRP menu, click on install and go to the place where you have placed your zips and first select the rom and then click on the left button if you have downloaded the optional GApps package to add another zip to the queue. Now swipe the slider at the bottom to install and reboot the phone to the system. The first boot can take a while and after booting you could experience some lags because of the GApps initialization but they should disappear after some time.
4. Now you have successfully installed the rom and you're ready to use dotOS on your device. Congratulations!
Bugs:
- VoLTE (isn't working on samsung devices and won't work anytime in the future too)
- HWC isn't enabled yet (could lead to a bit performance decrease in apps with alot of layers)

Although we now have Windevine L1 our phone is not supported on Netflix or Amazon Prime (it is not on stock either).
There are some hacked versions of Netflix floating about but I don't think you really need HD on our tiny screen .

L1 just enables a more protected version of DRM, it is carried out in a secure area of the CPU (mobicore). So yes it supports higher resolutions but neither Netflix nor Amazon support non certified phones, you may be able to get round it by changing the build fingerprint. I've not tested it because I have no need for HD video on a 4.7" screen .
Bug, or Problem?

You should be able to install the latest opengapps with DotOS without issue.
I don't think there is official Xposed for Pie, and I have heard that the unofficial is very unstable.
Why do you need xposed?

Found a little bug
When you drop down the notification panel whilst in landscape and try to close it by tapping in the blank space below the "no notifications" text or around it, the menu bugs out, showing the tiles for a split second and then closing all together.

Hello. I have been following dot OS for a long time. I've noticed that during both the trial of both stable and android pie .. The location is wifi hidden. I enter the user name and password manually, but does not recognize it. Although it appears to be a registered wifi network, the connection happens. everything is ok when wifi is removed from the modem interface. We wish to have a small share ..
Router bug
I noticed a bug when I try to connect the router along with the mobile data, it just does not turn on.
Good Job man, and thanks so much for this great ROM . You're the best.

• A: Go to @AwakenOSChat on Telegram and Enter your requests in chat.
• Q: Is Encryption supported?
• A: Yes, ROM is Encrypted by Default. Although you can flash DFE but at your own risk and will but do not complain if ROM doesn't boot on flashing DFE. It's always recommended to stay encrypted.

Work on 8T as well?
Refresh rate is stuck at 60. Tried adjusting the smooth display option in Display settings, and also tried toggling the force peak rate in Dev settings. Nothing seems to change the rate from 60 to 120. Even tried some ADB/shell commands, but nothing seems to work.
Also tried a different kernel to be safe. Same issue though.. refresh rate stuck at 60, can't raise it.
I'm on an 8T btw, if that might affect anything..?

Hi there, High refresh rate is working fine for me. Attaching Screenshot below.
Although you can try scrolling in some app which supports 120Hz like Chrome or any browser you might be using and it will switch to 120Hz.

Hm. I couldn't get the refresh rate overlay to show anything but 60 no matter what I did. Did you toggle any options to turn on the high refresh rate in settings or something beforehand? Maybe I missed a setting/toggle somewhere.

Great to know that development will continue for this ROM as so far it has been rock solid. Also, would like to know if the "Sleep Mode" (present in battery settings) feature from other ROMS like Nameless could be added in Awaken as well as it helps to minimize idle battery drain at night.
Other than that, thanks for your efforts so far

Any initial thoughts on battery life?

OK, you got me hooked. Will test it over the weekend.
Thank you for the hard work that you put in!
Nice one Saku! I ran CherishOS on other devices, along with Spark it is the most balanced ROM - enough but not too many features, pretty stable, have been in active development for years. Hopefully no branding kerfuffle is going to happen like with Ricedroid. Will you build dirty-flashable updates for Cherish in the future?

Depends on what's updated in that specific build of course... But yeah most of the time you should be able to dirty flash any of my ROMs.

It's more about whether you are going to keep building it when it gets updated. I'd prefer not having to do clean installs every couple of months to get latest security updates. Also, 4.7 was announced literally hours after you published 4.6.1

Nice build, defo gonna try it. Does surround sound works? I also saw that the battery should be better than on stock, which is a plus

@Sakuu eh, that's good. What about the camera? Do we have google camera, or? And also, does cherish offer Google Photos patch without root needed?(now i use pixelify, but i'd like to keep my phone unrooted

No OTA is for official only, if someone wants to do that then yeah you could get OTA but for now every update you reboot into recovery and you sideload the new zip (and install magisk if you want)

As I said above, depends on what's actually being updated if it's a major upgrade like 13 > 14 clean flash is required or if hardware repo is updated (the stuff that lets you enable creator mode and mess with battery care) then you need to clean flash since XperiaParts will get all messed up...

Some pretty in-depth customization, also battery life is greatly improved and the device barely heats up compared to stock

Actual improvements in battery life? Gotta try this to believe it! Battery life sucks on stock, and I've underclocked the GPU to 540mhz and it's still super hot in the hand
Edit: ROM is so smooth, highly recommend
Edit2: only issue I have is keyboard is much closer to the bottom of the screen now which is slightly less comfortable to use than stock
edit3: server class wifi works on this ROM which is a massive plus for my educational facility
4g and 5g reception have both been boosted for me as well in my workplace where i would not have 5g or 4g, only gprs

No, I don't want. For me enough say "Ok, Google". I prefer another functions on this button. In stock this button is s**t
ROM is so smooth and good battery life. But Android Auto protocol is missing, how can I fix that? Thanks!
If anyone has issue with android auto , uninstall android auto if you have it installed as a user app(android auto wont work unless is a system app) and flash this in recovery NikGapps-Addon-13-AndroidAuto-20230418-signed.zip , this is because the gapps in the rom are "core" ones, these have the bare minimum gapps framework for gms to work.

Thanks! But the addon cannot be flashed with this ROM's recovery. The link to TWRP for 1 III is removed, so, is there any way to flash this?
Does the Sony stock camera app work? And/or GCam?
Plans to keep this ROM updated and probably becoming official?
I really like the customization screenshots, I'm almost hooked
