Im not sure. Xiaomi used to be very positive in the open source kernel, but in the last year Xiaomi has turned negative
I wish they would release the kernel.
It is not that Xiaomi will release the kernel for this device that you will have AOSP roms.
For example for the 12 pro, the kernel was released in December 2021 and still nothing.
According to some developers the source code is incomplete.
Second point the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 is new.(One plus/Samsung/Sony=same).
The problem here is that I'm seeing that some snapdragon devices from Xiaomi still don't have kernel sources even after a year of release.
This is troublesome

GSI roms are an alternative while waiting for a hypothetical AOSP, too risky for me especially since for recent devices, they are not without bugs.
Xiaomi Eu rom suits me well and keeps the original camera.

First of all, Sorry for bad english. It's not my first language.
I just bought USB voltage Tester, and that makes sure MIUI9 Rom DOES support QC.

(Most of times it stay on 9V 1.5~1.8A)
But problem is, most of Custom roms doesn't.
(I tried few Oreo roms, and official Nougat AEX)
(Most of times it stays near by 5V 1.5~2A)
I tried in low batteries all the time. but the results are same.
So, is this kernel things, or just other problems?
Thread looks interesting.. I'm on official miui, can't say anything.

Latest Liquid Remix Rom - definitely supports QuickCharge ?
...anyone else got the Xiaomi MiPad 4 yet? Any recoveries (twrp?) available yet?
hope this helps someone... By default my MiPad 4 came with MiUI 9 stable...
This next link might be fake. After installing, myself and some other users have noticed it's still MIUI 9 "beta" so you might as well skip this "update"...

**Copy file on sdcard and go to update section in MiUI and in the top right-corner click on the menu and select to update from sdcard and it will find the rom.

Will this update without Root?
It's the Xioami update rom, so yes you don't need root.
There is no special recovery (twrp) yet and you have to ask Xiaomi for permission to unlock your bootloader so root is not available yet, that i know of.
I've already asked them a few days ago. Also I installed the room and all it did was move me to a beta rom still on MIUI 9
Yeah I also installed the rom and noticed it still said "MIUI 9" and have asked for the bootloader to be unlocked... hopefully we will have a working twrp version by the time the unlock wait is over with...

But this also means, it could take quite long until an international version of the tablet appears. That's disappointing.

Does anyone know if this might also work with the Mi Pad 4 Plus?
But I can't find relevant resources,Qualcomm 8+ processors have open-source core models such as Mi 12s and Redmi k60, but Mi 12t pro does not have an open-source kernel. When will there be further news?
In my opinion, if you want to flash AOSP based ROM, don't buy Xiaomi anymore.
Moto, Oneplus, Google Pixel may be better. They have good opensource.
Moto, Oneplus have less ROM after 8g1(Maybe need more time). But they obey Project Treble well and have fewer bugs on GSI.
Google Pixel has official lineage ROM on the newest SOC. Now, Google Pixel is the best phone to flash AOSP.

And what if the kernel is released?
From which developers are you expecting some work?
in your opinion what are the plans for this device?
In my region Amazon is reducing the price of the device, the more users buy it, the more possibilities we have for a developer to want to make the rom, as long as Xiaomi decides to share the kernel. It's an opinion, just that. I come to the forum with hope, but if Xiaomi takes too long I will look for an alternative.

hi everybody, i want flashing lineageos based custom roms.
twrp recovery is currently available, but unfortunately, a stock android based or lineageos based, custom android roms has not been released. I can't support development because I don't know coding or have no command of these issues. Can you add a list of custom roms under this topic? Thanks everyone
There seems not much, you can limit this device thread to "Development":

Excuse my wise words but then perhaps it would have been better to look first what's available (as in custom ROMs) and then buy accordingly.
Sounds tedious but I always crosscheck my buys beforehand with
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/
That usually saves you from rare and unsupported/unsupportable devices (like those based on Mediatek SOCs).

Custom roms cannot be prepared without releasing the source code. I am impatiently waiting for the day when I will upload custom rom. When will the source code be released?
