Hello everyone. I just recently aquired a LG K7 MS330 but I live abroad, Angola to be more expecific, and I can't use my angolan simcard in it because its locked by Metro PCS. Is there anyway to Bypass or remove the Lock? It was a gift so I don't wanna have to put it away.
Thanks in advance!

That would indicate the device is most likely imei blacklisted from the carrier network or you can't do unlocking without actually reaching a tower that contains a signal for the carrier network.
Most likely it's a stolen phone, or they never paid their bill in a timely manner.
I recently purchased an Unlocked V30 from B&H. I was unaware that Verizon would not allow VVM on a non branded phone. It also seems that sprint, and at&t don't either.
I know that Google Voice is an option to get a work around, but does anyone know if T-Mobile will allow you to download their VMM app and it just works?
TIA

I think this is what you might be looking for (for at&t). I would think if you can get the apk for the carrier you want, it in theory should work (that post says it did for at&t).
The T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app works (available in the Play Store). It's ugly, and there's a trial period for their not very good voice-to-text implementation. I miss having visual voicemail integrated into the Google Phone app like on Nexus and Pixel phones, but hopefully that can be resolved later on with a newer port of the Google Phone app.
Thanks for the replies.
I called T-Mobile today and the rep at the store called support and they said to use this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vna.service.vvm they implied that the actual T-Mobile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tmobile.vvm.application wouldn't work.
I'll do some digging on the AT&T app. I downloaded it from the link.
You would think, that with phone portability readily available when sim unlocked they would not make customers jump through hoops to use the features.
Just wanted to report back and confirm. The T-Mobile app does work on the US998 unlocked from B&H. It does not show the number of emails on the icon, but I did have the new VM icon on the top left of the status bar. I can live with this.
Verizon lost a long time customer today because of their draconian business practices.

So you got the T-Mobile voicemail app to work on Verizon on this phone?
I couldn't get a settings menu on it when I installed it. It kept wanting to connect with T-Mobile I think.

Not true with AT&T. Please don't spread misinformation.
I have three LG V30/V30+ US998 phones and all of them have been using or have used AT&T SIM card. Two are daily drivers, and one is a spare. But all three have had AT&T SIM cards in them.
A friend of mine also has LG V30 open market US998 also on AT&T. No problems whatsoever with AT&T.
AT&T doesn't care where you buy your phones. They will give you a SIM card and take your monthly payment.
The last three years, my wife and I have used Moto XT1225, the "international" version of the Droid Turbo -- imported from other countries. Also used just fine on AT&T.
Before that we used two LG Nexus 5, and before that I used two Galaxy Nexus.
I haven't had an AT&T branded phone on AT&T -- EVER.
Galaxy Nexus (2012)
LG Nexus 5 (2013)
Moto XT1225 (2014)
LG V30 US998 (2017)
All on AT&T with AT&T SIM cards.
I am thinking about buying the LG V30+ or V30 Unlocked US998U phone. It looks very nice with support for an SD-card, 3.5mm jack and Oreo. It is also great to see TWRP and Root support already in place.
I do have a few questions before buying it.
1. How well will the US998U phone work on Verizon? It looks like CDMA and LTE Band 13 are supported. Can anyone provide real world experience?
2. Can I install Xposed framework and Gravitybox? I didnt see a lot of discussions about it.
thanks,
Scott

The US998U V30+ does NOT yet have bootloader unlock and root. Only the LG V30 US998 has that, of the North America open market LG US998 variants.
I own both.
Yes, I have xposed and Gravity Box installed on my rooted V30.

While I can't say for certain (because I don't have that phone), it's likely that some features of that phone won't work on Verizon. My previous factory unlocked LG phones didn't support video calling on Verizon. It was strange, because HD Voice works, but Video Calling doesn't, and it's the other part of "Advanced Calling". Also, Visual Voicemail doesn't work either. You'll get strange text messages that tip you off that you have a message, then just go to voicemail from your dialer. Google Voice is another option. Finally, I think I recall that Wi-Fi Calling didn't work either, but I never use it so I can't say for certain.
On the bright side, you get the stuff that Verizon removed because they didn't want to pay LG for using them. Stuff like themes and Smart Settings. You also don't have crap that no one uses, like VZ Navigator.
I use Google voice for vmail and Duo for video calls. I dont use WiFi call except occasionally Whatsapp. I would like to use VoLTE. I have a Samsung 4G Network Extender in my house which needs to work too. I am more concerned about reliable voice calls. Would I get good LTE voice and when the need arises be able to use CDMA?
I may end up with the V30 US998 since I already have a 64 GB micro SD-card in my current phone.

You saw you won't get root, right? With the V30+?
We figured out the model number on the 128GB V30+ is sometimes called US998U and sometines US998 -- but the 64GB V30 is always US998. The extra U on the end doesn't mean "unlocked" like we thought. The T-Mobile V30+ is H932U, while the V30 T-Mobile is just H932.

I am currently in sprint, and had a V30 plus phone.
I lost it and cannot find it, so I had to switch to my backup which is a moto g5s plus (bleh)
So I am looking at getting a LG g8x, and had a couple of questions.
1: does the under screen fingerprint reader work with the screen off?
All I could find is even you turn the phone on to the unlock screen. The v30 you can go from screen off to unlock without having to do an extra step.
2: does it do volte? Specifically on sprint.
Volte support from sprint says: G Series (G7 and newer models)
My guess is yes but with these carriers these days you never know.
Anyone in sprint with a g8x that can confirm this??
Yes the fingerprint reader works with the display off
Hi everybody. I'm new here. It looks like this is the place where the battle is raging against the poorly handled 3g sunset from AT&T. I need your wisdom and guidance.
Background: March/April 2022- I was on AT&T prepaid with an LG G8 G820UM, happy as a clam until The Sunset happened and I could no longer make phone calls. Spent a good chunk of time in the AT&T store and on the phone with customer service but no one could get it to work even though it was on the approved list. Finally gave up and had to change devices because I needed a phone. Ended up getting another LG phone (because they are great) LG V60 ThinQ LM-V600AM. This worked out of the box with the AT&T prepaid sim card on android 10 for months with no problems. I switched to Red Pocket in September, partially because I was still salty with AT&T and the terrible way they handled The Sunset, and that sim card worked fine as well. 5G, calls, texts, everything. Until yesterday... *dun dun dun*
Somehow I was forced to update to Android 11 via a pushed software update from AT&T. Sadly this broke VoLTE and calling on my V60. Tried rolling thru all the rest of the updates available and got up to Android 12 V600AM30d. No luck. Still no VoLTE. Tried messing around with the Hidden Menu. No luck either. So now I'm looking at the possibility of doing some sort of rollback to Android 10, or some sort of Crossflash on the V60 (or on the G8).
What I want to know is: Who has actually gotten their LG V60 or LG G8 to work properly with VoLTE reliably in 2022?? What carrier?? What software flash?? And most importantly, how do I replicate it? Tell me your success story. Mine is a story of failure and clinging to LG because I like their phones but AT&T apparently doesn't lol.
Thanks for listening.
Yeah it's a crap. ATT dialer is locked down and so is BAND service menu. Something not right w/ Phone info prob b/c ATT lock down hoodoo. I'm on LMV600AM30c A12 Sept2022 and had to edit build.prop . set ro.telephony.default_network=26,11 (26=NR/5G,LTE,GSM,CDMA & 11=LTE Only) for T-mobile. On stock ROMs seems no 5G. I debate if it's truly avail but got 42.xxM on LTE this morning. I think I am going to go back to GSI ROMS. It's PIA 2 erase data every flash. Shame can't share or split /data & switch between slots. GSI actually worked better! There is a thread for restoring . I cross flashed to T-mobile and was fine. Updated & screwed everything up bad. This uses QFIL & "LUN" backups or chunks. IMO think LG would release more tools or remove damn region locks. My savior was here:
LMV600AM Restore/Ugrade Guide
This restore process is intended for the AT&T V60 (lmv600am) model and will WIPE your data so back it up if you want to keep it! This process will restore the lmv600am to original factory state for the AT&T v60 v20q build (a11). I’ve dumped all...
