Question Can T-mobile refurbished be bootloader-unlocked? - Google Pixel 6

On Amazon, Pixel 6 " (T-Mobile) (Renewed)" is a little bit cheaper than the "Unlocked". Assuming that it is SIM-locked to T-Mobile, can it be bootloader-unlocked?I had bought one of those "Unlocked" Pixel 3 on Amazon and it was bootloader-locked. I have heard that only Verizon has locked bootloaders. If so, then isn't it guaranteed that its bootloader is not locked because it is T-Mobile? But I am unsure, because it is SIM-locked. If it is bootloader-unlocked, isn't the user able to remove the SIM-lock, by flashing Google's stock ROM?

It's a little cheaper as it is likely SIM locked to T-Mobile. That said, you should be able to unlock the bootloader without issue as it isn't a Verizon device.
The SIM lock however won't be removed by flashing a factory image. That is independent of the factory image.

However, aren't carrier devices bootloader locked by DEFAULT? However, it may be possible to unlock SIM and maybe bootloader (Can't do that if you have a Verizon)

I can't answer for certain that as I haven't bought a carrier-subsidized device since 2011. In my experience with purchasing carrier-subsidized devices in the past the bootloaders are able to be unlocked even with the SIM lock in place (Verizon excepted, natch).

T-Mobile used to be unlockable. Also Verizon with an exploit. With the Verizon devices, I was able to unlock the bootloader of a Motrola Droid 3 and a Galaxy Note 4 - even with the SIM lock. But I'm not sure if it's the carrier or the processor like Snapdragon (I do know that Snapdragon sometimes locks their bootloaders on newer devices.)

However, I'm not sure with T-Mobile today.. I know with the Samsungs they're locked but that relies on the Snapdragon chip in there.. However, bootloader unlocking might be possible....

Unlocking Verizon devices is not possible, period. The only exceptions were the Pixel XL and Pixel 2 XL, and both of those were only for brief periods of time.
Your only options if you want a Pixel 6 that can be unlocked are to return the phone (if possible), sell the phone to someone who doesn't care about root, or suck it up and deal.

Maybe even the Pixel 3... however the bootloaders are so locked down, it's probably best to get an Apple phone (or get an unlocked Pixel and return the locked Verizon)

If it is T-Mobile version, you can unlock the bootloader once the sim is unlocked. I have a pixel T-Mobile version with unlocked bootloader.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I have a T-Mobile Google Pixel 3 XL with SIM unlock and BL unlock.

[Q]Verizon phone with other operator?

Hello guys. Currently I'm planning to get verizon contracted razr phone on amazon. But unfortunately I'm living outside of US and can't use Verizon SIM card.
As I understood there are no possiblilities to "compeletely unlock" bootloader. But, what about those safestrap\bootstrap things? Can it help to unlock SIM?
Or it's just about changing ROMs?
Is there are any possibilities to unlock a phone for use with any other operators?
Why not get an unlocked GSM Razr.
The Verizon Razr is CDMA and locked to Verizon and has nothing to do with the boot loader.
A SIM Lock and a locked bootloader are two ENTIRELY different things. None of our discussion pertains to SIM locking, which is something the carrier does to protect their subsidy, and can be unlocked by requesting the code from the carrier, usually with an associated fee.
However, unless the LTE Razr turns out to have international gsm radios like the Rezound, unlocking the Verizon model won't get you anywhere. I don't know of any compatible CDMA/LTE networks anywhere else in the world at this time. You need to buy the international GSM version of the RAZR, AFAIK there are no real differences other than the network type it uses.

[Q] Switched to T-Mobile, Now What

I recently switched my and my gf's lines from Verizon to T-Mobile. We both have S4 from verizon with locked bootloader and too recent of firmware for loki. Once I've settled completely with Verizon, and thus own the phones outright, is there anything I do do as far as getting the bootloader unlocked?

Nope - nothing - zip - nada.....Once a SCH-I545, always a SCH-I545. Just changing providers will not afford you a locked bootloader work-around. Sorry

Variants with unlocked bootloader?

Apologies if this has been asked before but are any of these coming with an unlocked bootloader? I had the misfortune of purchasing the att variant of the s5 at launch and there have been no good roms for it. I would like to not make the same mistake. Thanks
AT&T and Verizon will be locked down as usual but the rest of the carriers should have unlocked bootloaders.
I think the real question should be what the best way to get an BL unlocked one that works with AT&T is? Obviously a Tmo variant is an option though the process of obtaining and unlocking seems like one hell of a hassle. So is there a better way?
T-Mobile variants have a track record of being friendly when it comes to unlocked bootloaders and I'm sure it will stand to be true with the T-Mobiles S6 variants....

AT&T vs. Verizon vs. T-Mobile [HELP!]

*First of all, sorry if I misuse english, it's not my native language*
So I'm about to buy an LG V10 on prepaid (fully paid off), but can't decide which variant. I know the T-Mobile one it's the cheapest and also the only one that has the possibility to unlock the bootloader for now, and that's a major plus, but it comes network locked and with that annoying "unlocking app" that T-Mobile has. I need it to be network unlocked, so this is a big downside to me. I now T-Mobile can unlock it for me. I was reading that you need to refill $100 and have the line active for around 10 days it order to unlock, but I can't do this because I don't live in the US, so yeah.
Then I considered the Verizon LG V10 that comes network unlocked by default (I think), but has less possibilities of getting root.
Also I don't know much about AT&T, but I'm 99% sure it can be network unlocked with an unlocking code.
Do you think Verizon or AT&T variants are going to achieve root? I'm hearing advices.
Based on other verizon phones with their locked bootloaders.....I'm pretty sure their v10 will never get root.
Ever.

Question Carrier phones?

Will it be possible to root an AT&t variant? The OEM unlocking is grayed out so that it cannot be switched, but I've seen instances in the past such as the Verizon model I had a few years ago but still possible to achieve root.
You need to have the service provider SIM card unlock the phone first. If you are on an installment/monthly payment plan it can be harder to convince the provider to unlock the phone, but it is possible. Once the phone is SIM card unlocked, the OEM Unlocking option will be available in settings.
Of course this is on a non-Verizon version. Usually the Verizon versions will have the OEM Unlocking option greyed out even if the phone is SIM card unlocked. (But there have been models that Verizon didn't OEM lock, so we really won't know for sure until we hear from some Verizon customers).

call their customer support, ask if the bootloader can be unlock once you paid off the phone, if thats the case I think you can root.
