Dead pixel fix app - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for the xda pixel checker app that flashes little squares of different colored squares on the screen you cant look at it while it runs makes you dizzy it's an old app

To check if you have a dead pixel. If you have a Samsung, it’s a built in feature. Ims use there are many other apps.

Pixel issue browser only?

When i go to adobe.com i get a white pixel on the black background on the left botton. But in apps or pixel test, i dont see this white pixel!
Any comments?
A white pixel on which button?
If it's only at Adobe's site, why bother?
Same here..
Every site with stock browser I get white dot in screen bottom left :-(
It's not dead pixel issue..

Everyone has this 'issue' it's just a bug in the browser. It's not a dead pixel as the corner the pixel is in changes depending on the orientation of the screen. It's just a bug.
It reminds me of a bug in opera for linux a while ago which seemed to have a similar issue, it turned out to be the placeholder for flash content on other tabs, this might be something similar....

[Q] Stuck pixel or software glitch?

It's in the title bar in landscape just below the webcam, so basically front and center when I'm reading anything in landscape. But it only shows on certain screens (anything displaying content it would seem.)
Here's the slideshow:
Home screen: no problems
Browser: stuck pixel is greyish blue
Note app notes list: no problems
Open a note: Stuck pixels is blueish
News app no items open: no problems
Open a news item: Stuck pixel looks more grey, but still blueish IRL
So, is this really a stuck pixel, cause it doesn't show up all the time. Or a weird software glitch? Does anyone else see anything like this?
download the stuck pixel screen tester on the market.

Doesn't look like the pixel is stuck when going through the test screens. Where is that dot in my top bar coming from?

Weird wallpaper cropping?

So you guys prolly know what I am talking about. Is there anyway not to have it just take partial of the image? Depending on the image sometimes it's distorted

Touch wiz doesn't allow scrollable wallpaper....

Glad to here I wasn't the only one having this problem.... I love the galaxy s iii but hate touchwiz. Add this as a reason to the list.... Try using pic speed wallpaper to set your wallpapers as scrollable... Plus they have tons of great walls.

+1 awesome app

I actually don't mind touch wiz honestly. I haven't gone to another launcher considering I used apex on my 3d. But I'll try that app out. Thanms!

Picspeed is a nice app for sizing your wallpapers the way YOU want them, haven't checked their wallpapers though. Also, checking "scrollable" in the app doesn't make the wallpaper scrollable in TW, unfortunately.
This is apple's fault. Apparently they own the patent to scrollable wallpapers in a home screen

I'm fairly certain that this is misinformation. Nothing I can find indicates an Apple patent on this feature (and keep in mind that Apple themselves do not offer the feature), and Apple don't seem to be attacking the other Android devices that have offered this as part of the base operating system since day one. If anything, this makes TouchWiz behavor more like iOS.
(Apple did patent scrolling in the next picture in the gallery application and, the key part, snapping back to the current picture if the drag motion wasn't far enough. TouchWiz does exhibit this snap-back behavior on the home screen, but patents are very specific and using the same image and implementing it in an entirely different context means that Android should be fine here.)
I think it is more like Samsung took the feature out because their visual effect is now that you are scrolling a box of icons in the middle of the screen, not the entire screen. It would like kind of funny for the box to rotate and the background to rotate with it while leaving the other foreground elements in place.
Yeah I have been using zedge for a long time now. The only problem when using wallpaper apps and setting it within the application is that it only changes the launcher wally and the lock screen

This effect was enforced with an update to gingerbread on Sprint Galaxy SII's a while back after it was working the same way with the same launcher therefore I can say with certainty it was not a decision for design. It was with that same update that the browser overscroll effect where the page would move away to reveal a dark background was removed. I'm sure it was to appease a court ruling so that the product could continue to be sold.
I believe this is the lawsuit that targeted Samsung in terms of scrolling effect

Use QuickPic its in market and free.
Download Flikie Wallpapers HD. This lets you set wallpapers without cropping.
Just go to gallery or wherever your picture is located, press menu and press set as wallpaper using Flikie HD.
No resizing needed.
use the gallery2.apk from cm9, and when you set the wallpaper, use the gallery crop from the cm9 gallery (you can have both the touchwiz gallery and cm9 gallery on the phone at the same time) to set your background, which will do the background scrolling.

What wallpapers are you using.

I'm having some issues with finding really good wallpapers to work with this screen resolution. My favorite app Zedge needs to update there pics are blurry. I want to get the most out of this screen.

nothing exciting... just type in HD phone wallpaper android into Google... probably half a million variation available
got LGOG?
Try Wallbase HD Wallpapers App, they got high-res pictures with a HUGE variety :victory::laugh:
I have a map of Middle Earth as my wall paper. I'm probably a little slow on the up take, but it's an over sized image that the device loads using the middle as the main home screen. If I scroll to the home screen on the right, the map scrolls right. Scroll to the left and the screen scrolls to the left. For lock screen I have a death star image.
This one.

What launcher are you using for your TS?

Hi,
I wanted to get a sense of what others are using for their launcher interface for their TS.
I have tried a handful but nothing really seems to fit the bill all that well.
I have tried
Google Now Launcher
Launcher 8
Smart Launcher
Various "Big" and "Senior Phone" launchers
Nova Launcher
among others....
I seem to be constantly going back to the stock launcher (not OUI 2.0 as that is just crap)
What are you guys using or recommend trying?
One thing I seem to really hate about going to alternative launchers is the loss of the "real" status bar..... I have tried Swipe Status Bar, but that just introduces issues with having to swipe down when you need to access touch points that are near the top of the screen. (Plus the last version that was released completely made icons no longer clickable)
D.
Stock launcher for me seems fine.
I switch between stock Android launcher and GEL. I never use OUI2.

Smart Launcher for me, Operative style.
I'm pretty happy with lucid launcher across all my devices.

I have used ADW EX on my other devices for a few years, so I installed it. After tweaking the icon/text sizes and a few Gravity box tweaks, seems to work quite ok.
I think pretty much any launcher will do, as long as you can customize it around the limited screen space.
Lightening launcher with x3 UI layout.
Just tried smart launcher 2 as mentioned on here. It's really good! all the elements fit perfectly on the screen almost like it's made for the TS.
I really use the OUI... But I only tried stock and OUI, didn't try any others yet, so this might change
nova for me just with the icons set very big like my status bar to much and not a fan of the status bar app that will give you access to it never worked quite like the stock status bar should.
I've been using Mini Launcher... although only for a few days and haven't tried many other options yet, so i might change if there's anything better
+Lokifish Marz. Can you please elaborate a little on your set up.
Thanks in advance.
Right now it based on Lightning but really needs to be a standalone.
Thank You Sir?

Would love to have this for my Watch!
Personally, I really liked the WP8 launcher. Could fit lots of useful info and apps on the watch screen.

I keep falling back to the stock launcher. I've tried a few (nova, apex, and similar), but the status bar is the biggest issue. I'm really fond of the bar for easy overview of new notifications, and can't really live without one. Swipestatusbar solution works ok:ish, but not having the bar there after exiting apps and having the bar interfere with touch event at the top makes it a dealbreaker.
OUI is almost there - it has widgets, app drawer and screen sorting, and the status bar. It does however lack in other ways, like missing an indicator for which screen you are on, and everything looks very blurred, together with almost no customization. Some widgets looks as if they are rendered at like 50x50 pixels and zoomed to fit the screen. Also seems unstable, it has crashed a ton of times.
If the stock launcher could just get widget support, an app drawer and preferably a way to add/remove/sort your screens, I'd be happy with it. For now it works though, and seems fast and stable with status bar working..
EDIT: After playing around a few hours with different launchers today, I finally went back to Nova. It takes some getting used to, but the status bar issue now feels like an acceptable loss compared to all the gains. It works very well, and renders on small screens better than most other launchers (some have too much paddin in the grid, some render icons very pixelated or blurry, and so on). Nova does a good job, my only peeve is that icons are aligned to the top of their grid position, and widgets are aligned to the center. This means that if you place an icon next to a widget, they will not align, and also the icons come a bit too close to the top. However, it's still better than the alternatives I've tried, so sticking with Nova for now.
When?

When will you be releasing it??? :highfive:
I am using launcher 8.
The tiles uses most of the screen at any given time, as opposed to a more regular android launcher.
Android launchers in general wastes a lot of screen real estate. This is because of the way the icons are organized, with lots of empty space between them.
The tiles you get in launcher 8 is quite tight, like in a proper windows phone.
I like this.
The tiles are also customizable in size, so stuff that is often used will have big tiles, while the lesser used programs get smaller tiles.
Launcher 8 also runs smoothly.

i use tsf shell for many years on all my phones and tablets.
now i use it on the truesmart and it really works great.
its smooth, it looks cool, you reach everything you want in short time.
shure i have to use swype status bar, but that is not really a problem.
ok it is not really cheap, but you only pay one time and can use it on all devices, so i think the price is fair if you have more devices
