How To Guide Pixel Temp-Sim Unlock Tutorial - Google Pixel 6

Even though the December patch kind of ruined everything, there is another method for SIM unlocking a Carrier Locked Pixel so follow on!
(THIS WILL WORK ANY PIXEL, I HAPPENED TO TEST THIS ON A PIXEL 4A 5G BUT THIS WILL WORK ON ANY RECENT PIXEL)
You first have to go to settings...
Apps and then show system apps
What we are doing here is disabling a system app that has SIM lock.
Search up "device setup"

Ok ok, so now go to Mobile Data and Wifi and Disable background data
Now go to App battery usage and put it as restricted
Insert your SIM Card and it will be sim unlocked

Will that work on T-mobile pixel 6?

This will work on the Pixel 6 (T-Mobile).

still no option to allow oem unlocking on T-Mobile sad how it used to be so easy to unlock a bootloader unless you have Verizon of course this is the first phone I've had from at&t or T-Mobile that isn't rooted or unlocked.

You have to contact AT&T or T-Mobile for a bootloader unlock. The SIM lock is local, but the bootloader unlock is controlled by the carrier.

I just tried this to use a Visible SIM in a T mobile locked 4a 5g which I had done before using a different method. While it did work for the physical SIM at first, I have it set up with a T mobile eSIM and it won't work with both like it did before. Now if take the visible SIM out, T mobile works, but Visible won't work at all in it. I was using a 4a that I bought as a temporary/spare phone until my replacement battery for my 4a5g came in (it took about a month). I decided to do a factory reset because I figured it would be easier to just let it copy everything from the 4a, but it relocked the SIM which I should have realized before I did it, but I didn't think about it.
I'm going to do another factory reset and try again... I'll update soon.

Update: You may have to install Netguard to get Wifi. Block Device setup in NetGuard.

OK... Now I can't get the Visible SIM to work at all. I'll have to switch back to the 4a. Hopefully if I erase the esim I can get Visible to work again so my wife can use it because her phone isn't compatible with Visible's new network that we need to switch to soon.

Do not connect it to wifi. That may be your issue. Reset the device then try the process again. Also if you connect to Wifi, always set the connection as metered.

It works for a little bit, but I guess it figures it out when it gets Internet access and it's pointless to have a smartphone that can't go online. I'm going to try T mobile customer support again, hopefully I can get somebody who I can understand and they can understand me.

[Q] Phone losing network

I am having a peculiar problem since last 20-25 days. In home network, after some time of inactivity, my phone network stops working. I can see full network range on screen and H+ access but neither can I make calls nor use Data. I have to restart the phone to get it going again. When I go to roaming, this problem disappears.
I restored the phone to factory settings to negate a possibility of my OS going corrupt. But now the problem has started again.
I use Vodafone 3G network in India.

Have u installed any app that may interfere with ur internet connectivity (like battery saving apps)?
If you were rooted, I would suggest you try changing your modem.

Yes. Called up Vodafone yesterday. First guy sent me the 3g settings since he didn't understand what my problem was. Then i had to talk to his supervisor. He asked me to visit nearest gallery. When I asked him to log a service request he suggested that I keep settings for network search on manual. When I protested he finally locked call. But don't know what he had typed in the call lock. Anyway. Will changing the sim card help
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I really doubt changing the sim will help. If you can, go to the store in person & keep insisting that it's nothing to do with your APN. If you can, show him the problem, not just tell him what happens. Ie, take the phone when it won't connect at all. Then restart the phone & show him it works.

I suspect too. Just to check, on your wave what are your APN settings? Compare them to try our APN settings on your s2. If they're different, try changing the ones on your s2 to match the ones on the wave.

I tried something tonight. In network mode, i selected GSM only and the network didnt go off. even edge service is running properly
The problem happens when the phone is in GSM/WCDMA(Auto mode)
I confirmed this again twice, thrice. If I keep the phone in GSM only mode, no network issues. All steady. If I move to GSM/WCDMA (Auto) mode, after a period of inactivity(cannot quantify) the phone shows full bars and 3G symbol, but no data can be interchanged or calls received/made. I have to restart the phone to access network again in that mode.
This happens only at my home(so i assume only on one tower)
Go talk to the network provider
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Already done that. They have not taken action. I Don't expect this problem to be solved by the technologically challenged customer care team of Vodafone in India.
upon further investigation I found on the Internet that this problem happens when network provider is upgrading from a lower to higher technology which uses different spectrum. The solution is to access *#*#4636#*#* and change default mode to gsm auto (prl) mode which will ensure that it will prefer gsm over wcdma but jump to wcdma when a minimum signal threshold is achieved. Sadly I am unable to access that menu since Samsung must have disabled it.
Any solution to that?

Enable WiFi calling in U firmware

UPDATE: it seems that all this does is enable the switch in settings, it does NOT actually allow WiFi calling. I have been digging around in both the ATT system and U System, trying to see if I can find anything that points to what makes ATT WiFi calling function. I have come up pretty empty handed thus far, I can say that swapping the ATT CSC folder to the U firmware trips a shutdown/reboot loop. It boots and shows some verifying device dialog then shuts down, BUT in the short time I got before it shutdown the Wifi calling option in settings turned from a switch to a tick box. This is as far as I have gotten and think it will not be an easy task to get ATTs version of WiFi calling to work on the U firmware.
So came across this in system/csc/Others.xml about 3/4 of the way down, I can confirm it enables the option for us att users in the U firmware but can not confirm if it works or not. It is a start.

Odd it's working for me.
Edit updated OP with new url to the screenshot, hope it works for everybody now.
Must root though? Ugh
yes, just like you need to be rooted to get VoLTE and video calling re-enabled and band 17.
But at this point I can do little to prove this works and doesn't just enable the option in settings.
I'm trying to pick through the ATT rom to see if there is anything usefull.

Easiest way to check is turn on airplane mode, turn WiFi back on and send a message or make a call

this I have tried but it insists that I turn off airplane mode in order to make a call, not sure if that is something that the U firmware does on purpose or not.
Odd, on att fw I can make a call fine with airplane mode on and wifi on
Well, I have put myself into a some kind of shutdown loop a hand full of times today trying to swap files from the ATT rom. I think this is a bit beyond me, so unless someone more knowledgeable comes along to help out I think we are once again stuck with no Wifi calling on the U rom

Hey Joe, not sure if you have root or not, but if you do can you get a catlogger and toggle wificalling on and off a few times to see if we can figure out the root of what controls ATTs wifi calling. It has to be built into some arbitrary apk somewhere.
Yeah, I am looking for it in the rom. I flashed a ported Note 7 Rom for the SM-G935F, flashed a note 7 csc for AT&T, i get errors when I enable wifi calling.

Question Unable to delete "T-mobile.com" wifi subscription?

Settings-> Wi-Fi & Network -> Wi-Fi -> Saved Networks
Under [Subscrptions], there is <t-mobile.com> which will Auto Connect after you reboot your phone.
Unfortunately, it will re-install itself after you reboot your phone even you perform "Forget" or "Delete" it. ( yes, I have PM uninstall all T-mobile packages already )

This is not related to Wi-Fi in any way. Notice how it simply says "Saved networks", then below "t-mobile.com", it has "Wi-Fi Networks". This implies, as far as I'm aware, that it is not Wi-Fi, but rather your cellular data subscription from T-Mobile.

However, I also have T-mobile branded Samsung A32 5g but it does not re-install "t-mobile.com" under [Saved networks] menu after I delete it. That's why I like to know if I can prevent auto-install after I delete it.
FYI, I have already PM uninstalled all tmo packages.
I want to say many phones ago I had a similar issue with a package that happened on one phone and not another. What I remember of it was the AOKP guys went digging into it and they found that on the tmobile branded version of that phone in the original rom it was buried deep enough it couldn't be turned off. I am not sure if it was the same package but I do recall it had something to do with their wifi networks.

Question No WiFi after February update!

I know there's a topic for February update, but I want to address wifi issue in a separate one, so we could easily maybe find a solution.
I have tried so far to clear network settings with no success at all. Then rebooted phone, wifi came back, but when phone gets to sleep (screen lock), wifi will turn off and no way to turn back.
Then from Google Pixel 6 telegram group was a suggestion to stop Adaptive Connectivity, so I stopped it, rebooted phone, but at some moment wifi was gone once again and you can't turn it on.
Please reply here with some tricks that we want to try to fix the problem. I don't want to root or modify phone, but if there's no other option - I will do it.

If you haven't unlocked your bootloader, your options are very limited. You could try sideloading the OTA and see if that helps.
For an unlocked bootloader I would suggest simply reflashing the baseband image, but that isn't possible if the bootloader is locked.
Have you tried clearing cache in the recovery environment?

I'm sorry, I am so new to P6 that I didn't know this. I saw that the P6 takes some effort to get into stock recovery (wow! power off, boot with volume down and power keys, freak out a bit at the sick robot image, then use keys to scroll to recovery mode). I just assumed there would be a wipe cache in the wipe data/reset option. I've never seen a phone without that option, as far as I can remember. What a weird thing to omit!
Did you try doing it from the Settings app? (Storage... free up space... cleaning... junk). On past phones I've had less success doing it from this kind of menu than from doing it from recovery, but worth a try.
I won't reset my phone. It's my daily driver and I have read already an article that reset doesn't clear the issue.

I haven't seen any workarounds for this bug as of yet. Let's hope Google gets on it. Maybe a Carrier Services update or something will fix it. Btw, I don't have this problem (knock on wood).
I only have it installed for 9h but so far is working fine for me.

You might have hit on something. After the update I still hadn't installed the latest beta carrier services which was 91. 424 or something. Right after I updated I had 3 updates CS being one of then to 92.x. They wouldn't install so I was like wtf all 3 pending. Rebooted nothing. Then I turned off wifi and all updated fine. Turned back on wifi and no problems since. I didn't test the wifi but now it seems reasonable that was the culprit. Can't be sure though.
My WiFi Mac address is unavailable, I would guess that's the reason I can't turn on wifi.
definitely experiencing wifi issues. would reboot device, wifi would need to be turned on, then it connects to my wifi and works fine, put the phone down and come back in a couple of minutes, its no longer connected to the wifi and I can't even turn wifi on. updated carrier services like bobby did and it's still behaving the same. I did the feature update before the security update and wasn't having this issue so this is directly tied to the security update. Pixel 6 128GB bought through Google, so which image do I downgrade to? I see there were two Nov 2021 global updates

November? If you're going to downgrade why not use the January one, why go that far back?
For me wifi works after network reset yesterday but i never had the described problem that wifi turns off when phone is locked and can not be turned back on. Instead of that yesterday i noticed that when phone locks at some point in time it does not have internet anymore despite the fact that it shows to be connected to wifi. Turn off and on wifi fixed it for some time. I did network reset yesterday afternoon and have not seen this behavior since that time.
I am having hotspot issues. I setup the pixel 6 as a hotspot for my other devices to use on the go, it worked for two days since I updated the device, but today suddenly none of my other devices can connect to the hotspot (the hotspot is discovered and the other devices can connect to it, but cannot access internet)

I did network reset 10 times maybe already and still no Wi-Fi after that. Only option is to reboot phone, but fix is for some minutes until phone get locked.
If I put screen time out to 10 minutes, then Wi-Fi is working just fine. At some point I touch the phone and another 10 minutes Wi-Fi is OK. If I change time out to my default 30 seconds, then I have no Wi-Fi in 1-2 minutes...
To everybody having problems with wifi - did you try disabling adaptive connectivity?

That doesn't help as several users in the reddit + google threads confirmed, neither does a factory reset which Google still likes to recommend
I too have no wifi and this is a major problem for me.
Not rooted yet. How do I revert to January?

Only one way. Full wipe of device, by unlocking the bootloader. And only if it's unlockable. Or turn off wifi and wait for the fix.

How To Guide Enable VoLTE/VoWiFi in unsupported countries without root (requires Shizuku)

Hi all,
Bellow you can find some info on how to attempt to enable VoLTE in unsupported countries (tested in Romania, Digi carrier) using Shizuku and Pixel IMS app for it.
This assumes that you have ADB and drivers properly setup beforehand.
1. Go to Playstore and install Shizuku app.
2. With the app opened, open up a terminal and write
Code:
adb shell sh /sdcard/Android/data/moe.shizuku.privileged.api/start.sh
to start it
3. Check the app. It should say Shizuku is running.
4. Download and install this apk
5. In your app drawer find Pixel IMS app, open it and click on allow all the time for "Allow Pixel IMS to access Shizuku"
6. Hit the enable VoLTE button at the lower left.
7. The original guide says to restart the phone several times, but for me it started working right away.
Also, it kept working after uninstalling Pixel IMS and Shizuku apps.
The original author mentions that it should survive reboots but is unaware of system updates. However, being quite an easy method, it should not be a problem to reenable.
Thanks go to the original author and u/redeletv on Reddit who posted it.
There is a newer version which adds support for VoWiFi as well.
Thank you. Volte work on pixel 6 and pixel 7. Vowifi IS in menu
Working perfectly with my Pixel 7 Pro without restart, first try. It survives reboot.
I'm from Serbia and using mt:s with esim.
Not sure if that actually works for me (Poland)... VoLTE toggle showed up in carrier settings, but I can't see any difference. Is there any way to check if callings are made through LTE/WiFi? When I call someone it's H+ or 3G showed up on the top :/
But, when I have WiFi on, wifi icon remains, so it's wifi calling, right?

Wifi and "HD" icons should appear in your call history.

Some carriers might require that your number has been previously provisioned with VoLTE on a device supported by them officially.
If this could apply to you as well, and you have never used your SIM card previously in a supported device, then this will not work simply because on the carrier side the feature is still disabled.

So, do you think if I'd put my SIM card into my gf's Oneplus (which has certified VoLTE for my carrier) for a while and make a call, then put it back to my Pixel, there's a chance it will be activated?
Working like a charm, with my device, no need to reboot.

I can not speak for your carrier and what it takes to enable it. If your carrier supports this method, then yes, having your SIM in a supported phone until the feature is enabled should make it work afterwards in your Pixel if you followed this guide.
You are great man !! it's working for me in Egypt ! Thanks a lot !!!!!!

It's working after sending activating SMS!! Thanks a lot, works great!
It's working, Yettel Bulgaria. Thank you!
I'm on a rooted Pixel6, also on Digi in Romania. Been using a volte enabler magisk module which works fine. Any downside to getting rid of that magisk module and using this instead? The module I'm using is pretty old and I'd like to switch to something more recent and tailor-made for tensor chips.
Any idea if i need to use ADB if I'm already rooted? Can I skip the ADB part?
Hey @morphvale ! Appreciate you sharing this.
I posted this on @kyujin-cho GitHub, but will share also here.
Just wanted to share some feedback on trying your patch on Pixel 6 running on T-Mobile Poland network.
Since Android 13 VoLTE works on Pixel 6 out of the box, but not WiFi Calling.
I followed your instructions and run the script, then switched WiFi Calling on in the app.
WiFi Calling setting appeared right away, however I couldn't force it to work even after few reboots.
On top of that, whenever WiFi Calling is enabled in the device settings, phone can't register for VoLTE and calls are being placed over 3G.
Carrier supports WiFi Calling and I have it enabled on my line (I was using it with iPhone 7 previously).

Cheers!
Version 1.2.0 brings separate toggles for VoLTE/VoWiFi and a new Material design.

You don't have to use ADB at all. You can either start Shizuku with Wireless ADB which doesn't require a computer, or by granting it root access.
Tested with my Google Pixel 6 with Vivo operator in Brazil and it is working perfectly, for both VoLTE and VoWiFi (WiFi Calling)!!!
Many tranks!
For those wondering, yes it works for all the MVNOs on Altan for Mexico, you get VoLTE on those sims, you just need to activate the sim on another VoLTE compatible phone and then swap the sim on your Pixel
[udpate] Also working on esim for Altan
