Any option for timed profiles( like nokia) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do you guys remember nokia phones having the profiles features? I want the same thing on android, such that I can set profiles with ringtones volume, media volume, etc etc and activate it automatically on timed or location basis. Is this possible, is there any apps available for that?

Delay shutdown - app continues playing

When delay shutdown is enabled some apps continue working. For example the podcast app I'm using continues playing all the two hours until real shutdown if not paused manually before. On the other hand some apps seem to stop. I wonder if anybody has some info on what is happening during delay. Are there some system messages which could be processed by the app to sense power off?
I don't know the answer to this, but have more questions / observations.
I installed the app Car Service, so I can control Spotify via the wheel. This is closed when the delayed shutdown happens, so, when I turn on again within that time the wheel controls no longer work unless I start the app manually. Very annoying!
I really could do with working out what is deciding if an app should stay running or be closed.

You can use Tasker with MTC Manager to do this. MTCM sends a broadcast intent during poweroff that can be used to trigger a task
Tasker Profile: Event, System, Intent Recived, Action: "com.microntek.bootcheck" // leave everything else blank.
Profile Task: Media, Media Control, Cmd Pause, select your app. If: %class ~ poweroff
Thanks a lot for this profound reply. Will try it right away.

MTC manager is a service that handles all the source switching and custom functions of these head units. Could you change the profile task to something else? Lets see if the profile is working, could be some changes on 5.1. Maybe have it write a file since the screen will be off.

Mate 10 Pro - Bluetooth Audio Stops when screen switched off

Hi,
Mate 10 Pro user here.
When I play audio via Bluetooth to my car or headphones, after the screen switches off the audio stops.
When I switch the screen back on the audio starts back up.
Any ideas? Seems like some power optimisation, but I can't find anywhere to fix it.
Tia
Which player are you using? It sounds like the 'phone is killing your (presumably non-stock) music player.
i have the same issue using google play music

None of these are by default allowed to run in the background (thank Huawei's rather vicious power management system), which would explain why they're being killed as soon as the system thinks you're no longer using them.
Go to Settings -> Battery -> Launch and switch whichever player you want to use to "manage manually," and leave all three manual settings set to "on" (or in the very least, leave the "run in background" option enabled).
This should then allow your preferred media player to continue running in the background after the screen locks.

To tell you the truth, I was getting ready to try to sell my Mate 10 when it was three days old, because the power saving features are so intrusive.
As time has progressed though, I've learnt to embrace its idiosyncrasies and am now very happy with it all 'round.
Just one more point which I'm sure you'll encounter sooner rather than later - if you need an app to consistently run in the background (for example, Tasker or an e-mail client), you'll want to tell the Mate 10 to allow it to do so;
Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Apps -> Settings (the cog at the bottom of the screen) -> Special Access -> Battery Optimisation
... then set your critical apps to "Don't Optimise."
Until I did this for K9 Mail and Tasker, I was only getting notification updates when I unlocked the 'phone, which more often than not was a couple of hours after I was sent an urgent e-mail.

System is shutting down apps in background (i.e. Spotify)

I'm using the Mate 10 Pro.
I listen to Spotify in my car. Right now every time I enter my car, I have to start up Spotify on my phone, which is quite annoying. On my previous phone (Mate 7), I could add Spotify to the "Protected Apps" and it wouldn't shut down anymore.
Is there a way to solve it in Mate 10 Pro/Oreo 8.0.0/EMUI 8.0.0?
So far I have:
- Added Spotify to "Ignore Battery Optimization" (Status: "allowed")
- In Launch, I deactivated "Manage automatically" and set all three option active (Auto-launch / Secondary launch / Run in Background)
I don't know what else to do. Any help appreciated!
The stock music player app takes precedence over spotify and others. So if there is any sample music on your phone, it will try to launch that first. Maybe remove any locally stored music and try again.

Thanks, but I already did that. I removed all rights from the "Music" player and deleted all files in the same folder. I created a new folder, named it "My Music", so since then (about 1 month ago) the default Music player has not played anything anmore That's good so far. My issue is really just that it shuts down Spotify.
I noticed that when I'm at work. Maybe another hour later, I still see the Spotify icon on top of the screen, so it wasn't shut down. But sometimes later during the day, it's suddenly gone. So when I'm back in the car, I need to start the app again.
I also tried to hit the "open apps" button (the one next to the home button), then clicked the lock icon. But didn't help either.
I dont use spotify throughout the entire day, but usually as long as I wasn't playing a random video or gif online just before entering my car, spotify will start back up.
I cant say that it runs in the background all the time when not in use. Its like my car triggers it to re-open when it reconnects to bt.
I have a mazda 3 though, all cars seem to act different for BT connectivity.
The thing is, if I leave my car to go shopping or something quick and I get back in my car, it works perfectly fine.
Therefore by my logic, I can rule out the BT of my car. When this happens as explained before, the Icon still remains on top in the notification bar.
So, I guess in the end, for some reason my phone just shuts down Spotify.
Anyway, thanks for your input.
I Have the same problem with VPN App it work fine in background but After a while the App Closed Why?
Having a similar problem with VPN app and also with Youmail visual voicemail. No notification of new voicemails until I open the app. Any ideas? I also set to ignore battery optimization and launch manually.
You need to deactivate the battery settings of the app.

That doesn't help. Apps still shut down in background.
FWIW, I have noticed that battery optimization (Launch in settings) changes can be hit or miss. Some apps perform as set. For instance, I have some items set to manage automatically and they seem to stop when I want them to. However apps like Facebook when Set to manage manually and run in background is off, it does not stop. Other apps set this same way will be stopped. Not really sure how it works actually.

Samsung s9+ Individual app sounds

Hello all,
I have a Samsung s9+ and am trying to change the sound on Facebook Pages Manager.
I have checked within the app itself but it has no option.
Hoping someone can help.
Thanks Shane

So far what I have learned is that unless the app. devs implements it on the app. there's no way.
It's very frustrating for me too being unable to set sound for each app... my IP cam alerts sounds the same as a simple instagram notifications [emoji36]
Sent from S.G. S9+ Duos
Check the options to see what is present. Some apps don't have options for different sounds within the app, but they might be listed here (like Samsung Pay).
Settings > Notifications > (select the app here)
Otherwise for the apps that do not have the ability to set custom tones in app or in the notifications settings you can use apps like tasker or Notificon to trigger a custom sound. There are probly more apps that can do this, those are the only two I have personally used.
I personally use tasker to trigger a custom sound for snapchat or other apps which I want to use custom tones (but no option setting exists).
Tried tasker but cant seem to be able to get it to work we pages manager.
Also the app itself is a little confusing

Question App volume control

Hello,
I am the new happy owner of Oppo Find N.
I use the App volume control application on previous phones. The application automatically reduced the sound for applications such as Facebook, Instagram (sound in story) etc.. It simply does not work for me on this phone. I granted all permissions, battery optimization turned off, but it doesn't work. I tried setting it up via Tasker and it doesn't work for me either.
Does anyone have similar experience or can you advise me?
Well thank you!
