Hi
My aunt gave me her old phone (XT1524) as she bought a new device.
The device had received the latest December patch. I did want to install LOS 14.1 and thus I unlocked the bootloader. But I want to return the latest stock. I couldn't find the latest one. Only the February one. As a result, I'm NOT able to install it completely and if I flash only the system and the boot.img, I get an update notification (which I'm scared to install because it may brick my device, or it is my idea????)
Anyhow, where I can find the latest and "greatest" stock firmware for my XT1524
Thanks
You're safe to install that update, there is currently no firmware with the December patch available to download. Although at first you might want to fully flash every file from the February firmware from scratch, just to be safe.

Thanks for answering
I just got this OTA. Is it final?
No, it's the second beta of Oreo for EU firmware.
Good for you. Now were you the smart guy who grabbed the files before actually upgrading? In order for @OldDroid to make an updated guide for everybody to upgrade... ?
i have a curiosity, i'm in italy so europe, device L09. i cant agree to beta test program beacause closed. so my question is: if anyone on oreo go on updater then download most recent update.zip and upload it everywehere or send me i can install it without problems with the emui recovery?
Firstly, apologies if this is a stupid question - this is my first time posting.
I have been following threads on here about the Oreo OTA update and people have been confirming it left and right, however I still haven't received anything in the UK.
Is it down to my device?
Is it safe to follow a guide on installing it from FF?
Thank you in advance.
You're on C432B120 ?
I'm still waiting too - on C432B183

I've use Firmware Finder to update my Honor9 ( from 183 to Oreo ) with no problems, after a few days, without FF ,I get new OTA from android, so, I think it's safe. In my case : Nothing is unlock no root , nothing, only Stock.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm on C432B183.
I'll try the FF option
Just asking!
Hi all, March is over for us in the UK in just under 4 and a half hours did anyone get the official update to Oreo other than using firmware finder? Just wish they (honor) would of just kept silent on the update until it was rolling out instead of all this guessing
Cheers
Nothing here. I only got my phone a few days ago and it did an update but only to the same version as you guys.
You tried on wifi ?
Tried on wifi connected to their PC software, not sure if I want to go down the firmware finder route just yet as there is always a chance of bricking the phone and I should of mentioned it is a retail unlocked honor 9 bought in the UK from J__n Lew_s (not sure if we can, name names so to speak on the forum) again not moaning about the phone just the lack of official information even sent honor a tweet but I will probably wait and wait for a reply

FF is totally safe if you always use the IMEI approved ones. Also, use the full OTA files. (Larger ones)

Using firmware finder no doubt will work I was wondering will a phone updated that way still receive official future ota updates for security etc or once it has been used do you have to update using FF?
I updated mine to B180 via FF and got an OTA update for B183 a few days later. Also updated to Oreo via FF with no problems. My phone came from Three.

Yes, FF only makes your phone "skip in line" of the OTA queue.
Thanks for those answers think I will update it when I return from work later
Cheers
I'm on C432B183 and am getting nothing. Firmware Finder is always saying that any new OTA update is not approved for the device...
I have a V30+ H930DS. A few months ago I used the WTF method to unlock the bootloader and installed another stock ROM for H930DS. It is rooted and I have installed Magisk. I am wanting to update to a later version for the newer security patches, ideally without having to wipe apps. I currently have software version V20d-GLOBAL-COM and build OPR1.170623.026. I think this was a CIS ROM that was suggested to install in the WTF thread. I'm in NZ. I see there is a thread here which is for Indian dual-SIM model. I am not sure if I should update to this or stick to a global or Australasian ROM (which might mean wiping). Any suggestions on best way to update?
Hi guys, I just picked up a used LG G5 RS988 and it is on Android version 6.0.1 (RS98810a). When I check for updates it shows none. However, I have an LG G5 VS987 that is on Android 8.0.0. I understand that normal channel updates may no longer be available (and the Verizon version provided updates in a different way), but is there a simple(ish) way to flash a more recent stock Android version?
Answered my own question! Downloaded LG Bridge from lg.com and using it to install more recent Android version(s). I'll post the final version once the update is done.
OK, LG Bridge allowed me to install RS98810h ... additionally, I found this super-helpful thread and have all the tools installed to flash the newest firmware ( LG-RS98821a-Flashable.COMPLETE-ARB01.zip ) - I just wanted to confirm it is safe to go from 10h to 21a directly. If someone could confirm that, I'd appreciate it!
