Question Are all SM-S918B/DE rootable? - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Hi,
Im currently in United States, but Im european.
I would like to buy, and then root S23U.
Ive seen offers for "International SM-S918B/DS"
I know that SM-S918U (USA) and Canada variants have bootloader locked and therefore cant be rooted with magisk.
If i buy SM918B/DS on Amazon, will it come with unlocked/unlockable bootloader?

Hello, I'm new to this and is it possible to root this s23u?
SM-s918UZGAXAA? I'm reading around and just wanted to double check before I brick my phone.

Pls let's stop creating unnecessary threads without doing the bare minimum investigating each thread or simply using the search button that won't take an infinite amount of your time.

You can root even if you don't have that. His question was rather if his bootloader can be unlocked, not if he can root the device.

Sprint Seems to be now testing a firmware with bootloader v7

this is the firmware Sprint is testing: G930PVPS7CRH1

Sprint must really not want their phones be unbranded or flashed to another carrier.

i use this link to check what firmware samsung is testing, see here
for sprint, use this one
this also means that, once this update is released, at least for the unlocked S7, we won't be able to downgrade to marshmallow or nougat . I assume samsung is doing this so remaining s7 users are forced to stay on oreo forever

I'm sure this is just coincidence, but I've been trying to get a Sprint S7 working properly on T-mobile's network and was communicating with both T-mobile and Samsung support all last week, advocating for both of them to increase their bootloader version. In particular, I think it makes sense for the 930U to always match or exceed the highest carrier version. I'm not sure if there's any substantive difference among bootloader versions, but that way users would always have the freedom to switch carriers. (The 930P often fails to make calls on T-mobile's network, since it doesn't support VoLTE).
This should probably drop around mid-November based on past updates and codes.
I have bootloader version 7 I think if it goes by the 5th number. I keep getting fuse errors when I try to flash this phone and I've never flashed anything before.

Sounds like you are trying to flash a firmware that isn't b7. This would result in the fuse error.

Ahh OKay I figured mine was 7 because I'm on Oreo and my PDA: G930PVPS7CRH2. IM on the sprint variation and I'm just stuck at this point. I rooted my moto 4 plus the first day I tried which is a snapdragon as well. This Odin things tricky though. I guess I can't get the new xposed either then unless it's possible to install without flashing. I really would appreciate anyones help thanks ?

I'm not sure about xposed, but if you're stuck with your phone in a non-functional state after trying to install a lower bootloader firmware, you can always re-flash the latest stock sprint firmware.

need S9+ help

Hi,
I have t mobile s9+ but got it unlocked after paying in full. Now I am with at&t .
My phone is stuck with Android 9 December update. How do i force Android 10 update?
If i were to use ODIN, which firmware should i use: t-mobile, at&t or unlocked ?
I would prefer unlocked but don't want to mess it up.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Question will the s23 ultra have root?

i know all the models will be snapdragon chipsets from what i understand. that said, will there be root? i know the US is prob not gonna see root, but what about the UK/EU models? root for me is a 100% buying factor for anything tech related like phones. thanks.
I've been wrong before but I highly doubt it will happen anytime soon if at all.

if you can unlock the bootloader then you can root it with a magisk patched AP file through odin
I would assume that its the same as with every recent Samsung phone for the last years: you can unlock the Bootloader and flashed a patched AP image - triggering Knox and loosing warranty in some regions....
No need to wait for anything, as rooting has worked on OneUI 5.0 I would hope/assume that it works still for 5.1 as well

Yeah the big difference is now they are using Snapdragon processors on all versions. You probably will still be able to in certain regions but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being locked down either.
@znel52 and @EtherealRemnant : definitely, its only speculation right now and therefore I just gave the assumption....
I'm still unsure whether I'll take the plunge and root the phone, most probably not at first....
yes, they will have unlockable bootloaders in most likely all other regions than the USA
think back to 2014, most of samsung's phones (galaxy s4, s5) were snapdragon based, and almost all of them (besides the USA variants) were unlockable (USA variants usually got exploited after tho, since touchwiz was filled with bugs)
so we have no reason to think samsung wont 2014 us again, which in that case its the best, since that was samsung's peak..
I will know for sure on friday/saturday.
Mine shipped today
If it's really not rootable I will send it back immediatly.

Question Might be stupid question- My apologies if so

So I bought the unlocked 512GB Ultra model instead of getting it through T-Mobile. I know it doesn't have all the bloat that the carrier would put on it. Is it possible to get the software installed that was on the T-Mobile version? Just curious. Again my apologies if this is a dumb question.
YUP You can just flash the T-Mobile Firmware , it is an official firmware so no warranty issues , no Knox problems & requires no root
