cmr-al19 two recoverys installed - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers

Hey,
I have tried installing twrp on my huawei mediapad m5 pro (cmr-al19) some time ago and it kind of succeeded. But the behavior now is a little bit strange....
When I normally reboot into bootloader (f. e. by pressing volume up on the boot-screen or adb reboot bootloader), it boots into normal erecovery from huawei. When I try to factory reset from there, then after boot twrp recovery shows up. I was able to install a custom rom on my MediaPad m5 pro using twrp.
The problem is, that erecovery cant reset the device, because twrp crashes when it enters the reset-mode after a reboot. The Wifi-reset-option is also not working it says "getting package info failed" And twrp isnt working very well; it crashes often and i could only get it one time to work.
My guess is that I installed twrp on the false partition.
Now i want to have just twrp or erecovery installed. How can I do that?
Please correct me if this is the false place to ask this question. Thanks for all help

You only now where you installed twrp. You could start restoring original partitions from a backup or a copy of your firmware (i own a SHT-W09).
Start flashing the recovery_ramdisk.img, twrp should be stored there. There is a erecovery_ramdisk.img file too, be aware.
Check partitions names on your tablet

Flashed wrong rom - How screwed am I?

Here is what went down--
I installed TWRP - the official one, everything up to this step went great. Then I flashed a rom for Huawei Ascend Mate 1, not 2, by mistake.
Don't flame me for this plz, I feel bad enough already. Anyways, the phone is now stuck in a boot loop and there is no way for me to open up TWRP anymore. Is there any way I can salvage this phone yet?
Maybe try to fast boot and flash a stock .img. I think volume down +power is for fastboot, it is opposite volume+power for recovery.
Don't give up yet

Hi there,
Try to Fastboot and install TWRP recovery img again . When in TWRP wipe EVERYTHING but ext-sd!
After that (as I learned from experience) all is possible.
Here is what I had to do with my MT2-L05:
Installed original recovery.img via Fastboot,
auto updated (already had b607 update files in ext sd),
reinstalled TWRP via Fastboot and after asking me if I wanted to, twrp installed su for me!
Back in the game with b607 - rooted!
Had a problem with busybox because system was still locked,
installed in xbin with Stericson.zip via twrp and that did it.
Hope that's helping!

[Solved] Bootloop after Flashing Boot.img and System.img

Hey!
I have a problem with my Honor 9 (STF-L09C432): It's not booting properly. Bootloader and FRP are unlocked.
First of all: I have TWRP (from here) and the boot.img and system.img came from here. I unpacked them with the Huawei Update Extractor. I flashed those (via fastboot) again after I installed Xposed, because that gave me a bootloop. Too bad it couldn't fix this.
After booting the phone the message, that my phone cannot be trusted, appears, then the Honor Logo, then the message again and then the eRecovery. Inside the eRecovery I can only download the latest version, which is too bad, because I cannot connect to my WiFi as he says the Password of the AP is wrong (which is not). Edit: Tried it with an unprotected Access Point, still failed (Could not retrieve Package Info or something like that).
I don't know where I went wrong and why it won't boot anymore, so you are my last hope!
Edit: I also tried the update menu (Volume Up and Down while Powering on) with the B150 update in the DLOAD folder. But it just goes to 5 % and shows "Software install failed!".
Edit2: I would also be fine by hard formatting the complete system and reflashing a stock ROM. But first I'd need to know how to format the system and second I need a stock ROM.
Edit3: When I tried to reflash Magisk (I read that it could fix some errors like this), I got another error: "Failed to mount '/system' (Device or resource busy)"

Thank you so much! My mobile phone is working again! :victory:
Edit: Small problem persists: I cannot use the buttons left and right of the scanner. They do not react.
Edit2: Could fix this. I flashed B120 and the buttons worked again.

Look here. Everything is explained in this thread. I recommend flashing B120 (it is linked in the thread) and updating via Firmware Finder and Firmware Finder Proxy.

As I had the same problem as you do know: I flashed B120, which does not seem to have the bug with the buttons and upgraded via Firmware Finder to B130 and then to B150.

My Huawei Mate SE is bricked after installing zip in TWRP

I just bought a Huawei Mate SE which is a newer phone that looks like the Honor 7x. I've noticed whenever I search for Huawei Mate Se custom roms, recoveries, and even stock roms I only find Mate 9 stuff and find my self desperate with no support of root, and anything else. I found an article called "How to : Huawei Mate SE Root & TWRP Recovery" , and I successfully unlocked the bootloader, and I successfully installed twrp. The text on the bottom I didn't see which said to install the dm-verity thing. I ran into the problem where there were all these folders were displaying weird text in the main partitions, so instead of installing the version they told me, which was the no-verity-opt-encrypt-4.1.zip, I installed the latest which was the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip version, which soft bricked. So I thought I could fix this by installing a custom ROM. But there were none, so I tried to install cm13 honor 7x rom and It didn't work. I tried installing the correct version after the rom. So even now if I tried to revert the old boot img it still wouldn't work because of the rom. However, since my bootloader is unlocked there is definitely a way I can fix all this. But the problem is their is not any Huawei Mate SE roms anywhere. I need a stock rom for my phone (possisbly a custom rom), or some fix. I can access my recovery, and the bootloader, but not anything else. My model is the BND-L34, pls help.
I did the same thing. Got it working
Put this in twrp back up folder on external SD card. Restored both files then factory reset in twrp. It worked for me every thing works. unzipped with Windows pc
Can't post links. Post [EMUI 5.1] OTA Firmwares and Unbrick Phone method. In Huawei 7x thread post#139 by AlexxC might be easter to search his posts. I have mate se in us on tmo/MetroPCS I flashed the correct 4.1 and still got soft brick. That article cost me couple hours. rooted with honor 7x method. Guess it really is the same phone with extra gig of ram. To AlexxC thanks, you the man

I tried the manual method of unbricking with multi touch and the phone booted, but it is a black screen, and I only see the home, back and tabs buttons. So after i figured out to use the backup that you sent me and it still wouldn't boot.
Are you getting errors in twrp restore you have to mount the partitions that your restoring boot system data etc

Why dont you boot into huawei eRecovery? It downloads the firmware and recovery and recovers your phone.

[ASK] Rooting Redmi 6a without TWRP / using Magisk Boot Image Patching

I was read https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html. That link describe how to install Magisk in our device in few ways. I was interested "Boot Image Patching" section that tell us about rooting device without TWRP.
Before this, I have 5 redmi devices and 3 of it were rooted-well via TWRP. 1 bricked (totally bricked) and 1 still un-rooted (Redmi 6A-cactus).
My spec of Redmi 6A are:
Security Level Patch: 2019-03-01
MIUI Version: Global Stable 10.2.8.0 (oCBMIXM)
Unlocked: False (i know that i should unlocked it later, i still waiting my 360 hours )
RAM: 2GB
Storage: 16GB
Since i found that link, i still wondering and keep searching about: "is anybody succesfull root their device (especially Redmi 6A with same spec above) with "Boot Image Patching" way?
if any, please let me know. i just want to hear their review and (of course) their experience.
thanks
Yes, i got it working but i still recommend the TWRP method, but if you're still interested, be careful, don't disable the forceencrypt while patching, you can disable dm-verity but DO NOT disable the forceencrypt or you'll lose IMEI/Baseband.
Anyway, this is the patched_boot.img i've used (extracted from the latest V10.2.8.0.OCBMIXM rom).
https://www80.zippyshare.com/v/2zWEXIcM/file.html
Repeating, i still prefer the TWRP method, be careful.

Hi @jonaaa, its me again..
i was success root my 6a with patched_boot.img. but i've got problem when i installing systemless xposed. Xposed Zip successfully installed, but when i tried to install Xposed Manager then reboot, i got stuck in mi logo. i've been trying for 3 times and getting frustrated
now i decided to install twrp and (again) i got stuck in encryption problem. most of google result said that data partition should be formatted and that dont make any sense for me. how could i formatting data partition while that partition is untouchable.
so i wanna ask you: how you get rid from twrp encrypt-decrypt problem?

i dont recommend to use my step, because right now i even dont have twrp in my redmi 6a. In other word, im failed.
UBL
Enabling Developer Option
Entry Fastboot mode
fastboot devices (to check it's connected well with pc)
fastboot format userdata
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.0.0.img
fastboot boot twrp-3.3.0.0.img
For a while, i was able to entry twrp without any password asked and installing magisk (magisk-19.0.zip) smoothly.
But, when i rebooting, i've got stuck at mi logo (i've been wait more than 40 minutes and still at mi logo). When i tried to Volume Up + Power, just nothing happened but back to mi logo and stuck again (and more 40 minutes :silly:).
and finally i did install fastboot-rom from scratch...:laugh: and since that, twrp wont installed on my redmi even i flash fastboot-rom again and again. Till now i still wondering why and not found the answer yet.

My IMEI/Baseband are gone, when I install xposed framework and reboot it's stuck in MI logo, and I tried factory reset from my original MI recovery, it's fix the bootloop but my IMEI/Baseband are gone.... Do you know how to fix it? I spend my time searching to fix it and no result. And I tried flash stock ROM too and no result. Hope you know how fix my issue, thanks!!

Uhh... just flash the TWRP and you're done.
The dm-verity removal is necessary if you want to install any GSI.

well i got this issue after flash twrp. after boot and reboot
i got this annyoing android system error, contact manufacturer for detail.
I have a similar problem
I was rooting my redmi 6a and now its bricked
First i intall the twrp, then i flash the Magisk with DisableEncryption, the first boot work fine, i update the magisk app and the new version isnt compatible with the magisk installed
Well i repeat the steps and then i lost the signal, in that moment i didnt know it is the IMEI lost, then i try to install Lineage OS 15.1 GSI for Redmi6a cause i think that is the solution
but the system dont boot, only boot the Xiaomi Tittle with "unlocked" (I unlock the phone before) and then get me to TWRP
Im only one with this problem?
I try use the MiFlashTool for flash the stock rom but not work, now im trying with MiFlashTool flash the MIUI9 and MIUI10.2 and other versions
I think, the problem maybe is the Boot.img
(Sorry for my bad English)
Edit-
I dont have any backup lol

This "contact manufacturer" error happens when you disable dm-verity, you can install Magisk without disabling it.

that just un-official TWRP, right??
i will try that in this weekend. Last time i remember that i can not boot into twrp. Till now, my devices still unrooted. I flash it back to stock ROM. But, when OTA update notification comes and reboot for installing, it give me bootloop into twrp (not to system), and that's mean my TWRP still inside i just cannot boot into.
so, i'll try that TWRP-1020 this weekend. Thanks.

Req: Blackview BV9900 Pro Root

Hey guys.. having issues rooting my BV9900 Pro. Not much on the net about this device. I gained Root access for one boot using magisk app to patch my boot image and fastboot flashing it. I used a couple Root apps and deleted a couple of system apps, magisk granted access. When I restarted, it went into a boot loop until I flashed the original boot.img. Now whenever I flash the patched boot, it tries once and goes into bootloader. I have an Orange State message on regular boot.img startup.
I tried this with a generic blank vbmeta, it went into a boot loop.
Someone with a non-pro BV9900 with the exact same chipset managed to get twrp on his. I tried flashing that. Bootloader says data transfered but whenever I go into recovery, the original recovery.img loads and it boots normally with the Orange State message.
The root deleted system apps are still gone.
Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Only a side remark:
Even if one finds a TWRP image that at 100% matches his/her device, it's not a good idea to flash it: instead boot into it
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img

Ah. I didn't realize magisk was systemless root. The BV9900 Pro crashes when you edit the system image. I suppose I should research more, things have changed in the last few years.
