Hi everyone
so I have a Pixel 6 mobile phone, and recently the camera started crashing and not working properly, this happened after a beta update was installed (or at least i noticed it after that update), the camera starts for 1-3 seconds and then crashes, and after observing its behavior I have noticed that if I started the camera and immediately switched to x0.7, the camera does not crash, however when I switch to X1 it usually crashes, so I reflashed the device with the latest public build (i quit the beta), and then I noticed it doing something weirder, when the phone is fully charged it usually crash not as much as before but it crashes, however when it reaches lower than 65% charge the camera starts working normally and in any zoom value.
i know this is not a lot to start with but i was wondering if anybody had any issues with the camera recently or had crashes like i do
please give me your thoughts on what might be the problem.
and thanks in advaned
Edit 1 : i have noticed that when the phone is hot the camera works perfectly however when the mobile phone gets cold it starts crashing so i tried holding the camera with my palm for a couple of mins and it actually works after that and then stops again when its cold and when i say cold its not freezing cold its around 10 degrees
I have crash with my pixel 6 camera also. It crash and then phone reboots.
My phone is under warranty so I'll try to see with google to repair or change it.
Some people have issures with camera, but not every users as I see.
Settings -> Apps -> Camera. Top right corner click the 3 dots and select "uninstall updates". Your Beta update is probably not suitable for the P6.
The other possibility without uninstall updates: Force Stop -> Storage & cache -> Clear storage.
After that, back to Apps -> 3 dots in the top corner -> select "Show System".
Search for Pixel Camera Services and do the same and delete storage like above.
Cheers

Thank you for your reply , however i tried this and it is still crashing , i already did a factory reset and i also flashed a public version and still the problem is there , if you have any other ideas please share them with me
I have this problem on A13 stable stock ROM for months.
I have it also on custom ROMs.
So my P6 go back for RMA to Google.
Let's see if it'll be better after that.

I guess RMA is the only solution, unfortunately i am out of warranty and this started less than a month ago
Extreme possibility, backup everything what u need and wipe/reset the phone and install everything new.

Thank you for your reply , however i have already tried factory resetting and also installing a new rom using online flash tool with no luck.
However i have noticed that when the phone is hot the camera works perfectly however when the mobile phone gets cold it starts crashing so i tried holding the camera with my palm for a couple of mins and it actually works after that and then stops again when its cold.
If I'm streaming music to my Bose speaker and try to take a photo the phone will crash.
WARRANTY.
ever heard of that?
So. After Rma. They send me another phone .
And it seems to be better for now.
Cross fingers that it's ok now.

It seems that many, if not all, of the apps I try to 'update' in the Android market generates an error on the Prime that says 'Application already exists' in the menu bar with an ! icon. This is annoying... I can uninstall / reinstall the app to get an update, but whenever I just click update in the Market, I get this error a lot.
Of course the application already exists! I'm updating it. Stupid Prime.
Does anyone have a fix for this? I searched the forum and didn't see anyone mention this annoying problem.
Are you getting system reboots?
Rumour has it the system reboots are a result of a failure while optimizing apps for ICS during the upgrade process.
Sounds like perhaps your OSs view of your apps is a little messed up...

No. Actually, I seem to have the least amount of problems with the Prime compared to most on the forum. Really, this issue and the weak GPS signal are the only ones I've had. Well, and the decreased wifi bandwidth when streaming bluetooth. But everything else generally runs smooth.
Two apps for example that I had this issue with... updating Google Voice and eTrade. Both of those for sure gave me the error that the app already existed. Uninstalling and reinstalling worked fine to grab the latest version.
Actually, I take that back. Sometimes when I do an uninstall / reinstall, it still says there is an update available.

Unfortunately I have the same issue. I haven't found a good way to work around it yet. As you have found sometimes uninstalling works and sometimes not.
Sometimes uninstalling it, rebooting the Prime, then reinstalling it works. Although, that's still sometimes as far as I can tell.
I've just started getting this issue when trying to update Officesuite Pro, first time it's happened.
Oddly enough when first typing this reply my Prime locked up and rebooted itself, which it's not done before.
Never had a reboot under ICS, at least not yet. But quite frequently have this problem. So I guess there is no correlation between the two.
The only anomalies that I experience are Skype or Talk video calls that suddenly die. No FC or any other message, Skype or Talk just exit.
I bet these types of problems will go away with a root and a custom rom in the future. Wish Asus would release the bootloader unlocking tool already!

Can you do that on a non-rooted Prime? I'm just waiting for the official unlock tool to go through that process.
This has happened to me on select apps too. Particularly xe app and officesuite pro. Can't seam to update them to the current version no matter what I do. Unistall/reinstall, clear delvik, and clear market data hasn't worked for me

I have the same problem, and i tried everything but it didn't work
Yeah... right now for me, it's Google Voice. And the worst part is, you can't get it to stop saying it's updating the market app even though it stops almost immediately. Annoying.
I get this sometimes, but I press update again and it updates fine
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Random reboot is a normal way of life with android. A reboot here or there is nothing to worry about. Most of the time its from a bad app you installed. Now if you rebooting several times a day, then that's a problem. Its actually good to reboot or at least power down n then back on device every once in a while. It'll give device a fresh start on RAM and clear any mishaps that may have or could occur. Same deal with Ipad. They recommend rebooting every now n then for a fresh start and to have more ram available for use.
I haven't had this happen on my Prime, but I was having this same issue today on my Sprint GSII.
Not sure if this is a work around, but it just worked for me. Instead of updating the app from the 'my apps' section of the market, I went to the page in the market with the full app description. I clicked the update link there and it installed fine. I'll have to test this theory out more.
i too am facing similar probs. while updating WhatsApp and Skype too it shows that the application is already existing.
pls. note. both WhatsApp and Skype are under different Accounts
can this cause a prob that previously i would have installed it by 1 account and later on by another account when i changed the phone ?
pls. guide.
I have many app issues with the current phone!
I have received a major update and I currently run BLA-L29 8.0.0. 127 (C432)
I have app issues especially with apps that are news related!
I tried installing them again, I made factory reset and all possible solutions but the problem is still there!
For example (IMDb, Gazzetta, Sdna, sport24, 90 minutes) apps are launching but when I press to a specific article won't open!
When I force stop them and clear cache sometimes works but it's like 1 out of 20-30 attempts.
I contacted Huawei and they said that the apps don't work because they are not optimised to oreo 8.0 and it's totally an app problem, but I think is more than that!
Keep up the good work guys!

I have the same problem as you. A lot of my news apps sometimes work, and sometimes won't open any articles. I can't find any rhyme or reason for it. My Yahoo Mail app has the same problem as well. Sometimes it works fine, and other times it won't display the body of the email.
Found a potential solution in another thread, but I haven't tried it yet. Here is his post.

I think I might have solved this issue myself and it might be useful information for others:
In the battery-section of the settings, there is an option to control if an app can auto-start, be started from a different app and is allowed to keep running in the background. Either you allow the phone to control this automatically, or you can do it manually: the latter possibility is the one I turned on as I wanted to have the control over the apps. Apparently, this was a bad choice as it stopped the apps from getting the information from the internet?
After I switched it back to completely automatic, all apps were working normally again. This is something that Huawei should address as I don't believe this should happen .

Thanks for the update
I had it as well manual and everything was off and this was the reason for the problem!
I just set it to automatic and seems that the problem is fixed!
I will keep you updated the following days!
Thnx ppl
Problem solved
Everything is working fine!
I don't think you need to turn everything to automatic, "Chrome" should be enough as I think those apps use some built-in Browser features from "Chrome". So leaving everything as is (no matter if automatic, manual on or manual off) worked for me as long as "Chrome" was set to automatic or manual on.
Problem solved
You are absolutely right! Only chrome has to be automatic!
Yes Chrome is used instead android web wiew on oreo
I have exactly the same Problem with Amazon App! Any solution?.
Edit:
Same here! Chrome on automatic and amazn app works fine!!

i'm facing similar problems and many app developers said "Huawei developers have set restriction for the device system"
As we mentioned before you should change the battery settings...
Settings
Battery
Launch
Manage All Automatically {on}
...... Or you just turn Chrome to automatically and see if it works....
When using the front facing camera for video, the app will record while pressing the button and as soon as I let go, it force closes. Once I re-open the app and go to the next page to play the video, it's upside down.
I have gone to extreme measures and completely wiped the phone and re-installed Instagram and it does the same thing. It doesn't seem to be a conflicting app issue at this point so I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue? Thanks.
I had every app the used the camera (Amazon, facebook, snapchat, instagram, camera, etc) force close on my. I replaced my phone through T-Mobile after they thought it was defective since performing a factory reset did not do anything to correct the issue

Did you get the new one? How's it working? Mine is T-Mo too. Out of curiosity, was yours a pre-order and what color was it? Want to see if there's any trend.
Mine was a black preorder. The new one comes today. I'm hoping it just works. I've read a few reports here and Reddit about camera issues so hopefully its isolated to only a few units. Seems like most of the people on here like the phone and its working for them.
I'm in the process of downloading the stock firmware and reflashing to see if that works. I'll update when complete.
I tried to Odin with the firmware I found out there and the latest version of Odin. I got to the the part where Odin said passed, then phone went to update and aborted. So I did another factory reset and now it seems fine. Slowly installing apps to eliminate conflicts...let's see what happens.
My new one was just delivered. I was going to try to smart switch again tonight. If that does not work I might skip this upgrade.
With the replacement (new) S9+ i received yesterday I have not had this issue yet. I've only been using the phone for about 12 hours so far.
After the factory reset from the update menu (power button+volume up+Bixby) instead of the one in the pull down tools menu, I'm all good.
Now I can go back to making annoying Instagram posts. ?
I had the notification for this update for a few weeks before I installed it, thinking that bugs will be flushed out by then, how wrong was I!
After installing it, the phone no longer feels as snappy, but the major problem is the camera. It takes so long to take and save a picture! I had seen that someone else having the same problem online saying it is due to saving to SD card. However, it was never a problem before this update! So what had changed? This is a problem with the stock camera app and open camera. I can keep hitting the shutter button and nothing happens. If I force close the app, the picture will not be saved, indicating that it is taking a very long time saving.
Also, everything else seems to be slower. I use F-Stop with MX Player for my videos and they open noticeably slower and drops frame. Chrome is also showing signs of slowness, with Amazon page taking longer to respond to slides after loading.
No, I did not factory reset my phone after updating as I see that as the nuclear option and want to avoid that. Is factory resetting the only way to get it working smoothly again?
mine is running without any problems, or bugs, lags... try to do factory reset
Mine is also working perfectly well, and the camera works like a charm, no delays at all.... perhaps it's because I do not have an SD card inserted, so no doubt of where to store the image....
dude make sure you do factory reset after OTA update... that's like the basic common sense since few year back.

Most OTA updates are designed to update your device while keeping your data intact and avoiding the need to reinstall and re-setup all your apps. A factory reset is normally done only if (a) the update specifically requires it, usually when there is a huge change in the ROM or (b) some problems occur after update because of the user's particular setup.
The PDTMIXM OTA works fine for me - as least I haven't found any problems or sluggishness so far. I haven't factory reset after the update. Like others, I don't have a micro SD card in my phone as I have two SIMs in it. Perhaps this is why I don't see the sluggishness encountered by some.

Strange! The update 10.3.1 available notification started to appear on my phone two days ago, but when I go into settings it now says no update available and the original notification has disappeared. Have they withdrawn this update so quickly or is it just my phone?

I'm not sure if you're referring to my post I made about the video lag when media is saved on the SD card.. But i just got the 10.3.1 update today and the problem is now solved.
Since updating to MIUI 12.2.1.0 Stable (RJBEUXM) I have two issues -
Fingerprint reader is dire - it used to open in fractions of a second, now it fails to read my finger 80% of the time. I have re-trained again and again, but it just can't read my fingers any more.
Google Maps force closes after a random amount of use - sometimes it will go an hour, sometimes just after a few minutes - not much use as a SatNav any more.
I've reset the phone and set it up again from scratch just in case (a pain with all my apps to reinstall and set up!), but both these issues persist.
Has anyone else experienced similar? This is a stock Mi 10, never tinkered with, from Amazon UK.
Bill.
