i used magisk but ive just installed stocl firmware so am about to start again but i cant find the boot.img for my device.
Do you have a computer? Which platform? In the source file of the firmware you installed, you can't find boot but you have a file called " payload.bin" ?
yes i have a computer and ive got access to a windows. ive got the boot.img now of my firmware. ive got magisk installed just need help from now to do it probably.
i have windows and a linux so i can access both platforms.
Did you flash the vbmeta partition as well? Check in the Original firmware files if you have vbmeta.img and run the patch with magisk. Uninstall magisk from your phone, download the zip file and apk stub of your same version from the official site. Wipe the cache and flash the boot and vbmeta partitions ( fastboot flash boot [boot img] ). ( fastboot flash vbmeta [vbmeta.img] . After you flash run ( fastboot reboot recovery ) you should have an entry on the panel that says " apply update from adb " select it and enter that mode. Run commands 1 ( adb devices ) 2 ( adb sideload magiskV###.zip ) Turn on the phone and check if everything is correct
hi sorry mate im literally stuck in bootloop from when i tried it last night. i can't seem to get out of it as i can't flash anything ?

Ok, I didn't provide you with a link to the required zip but with links to fora dedicated to your device where you have to search yourself. The second link that I've provided leads you to the Q&A forum for your device, which might be best suited to ask this kind of questions.
Anyhow, the first link I provided is to the ROM etc. development forum for your device, and this forum contains a thread called "[Unofficial] [Recovery] TWRP for daisy (Mount SD Fixed)" that might be the recovery you need - but I don't know and you've to check this yourself. However, I just realised that the download link in the OP goes to adfly, which I've immediately reported as this is not in line with the XDA Forum Rules. But post #7 in that thread contains a good link.
You have to search yourself a bit and not depend on others doing that for you. But I hope (I'm not sure) that I was able to point you to that what you require.

I don't know your device or any with two slots but the procedure I've read here (https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimia2lite.html) is slightly different to yours. If I correctly read you need both, the TWRP img and zip. Flash the img through fastboot, and afterwards flash the zip through the (yet temporary) TWRP:
...
If you do not already have TWRP installed: Download both the img and the zip. Copy the zip to your device. You will need to have fastboot binaries and the correct drivers installed. Power off your device completely. Hold volume down and turn on the device. Your device should now be in the bootloader. Connect the device to your PC. Open a command window and run the following command from the proper location:
fastboot boot path/to/twrp.img
This will temporarily boot TWRP on your device. Go to install and browse to the zip and install the zip. The zip will install TWRP to both boot slots...

Hello, I am from Canada and I just got a Moto G Power (2021) XT2117-4 with the firmware QZBS30.Q4-43-129-2. I unlocked the bootloader thru Motorola with no problems. I installed Rescue and Smart Assistant and downloaded my firmware. I patched the boot.img thru Magisk and flashed it to my phone using ADB. I was not able to achieve root. I also tried to boot thru recovery mode but got the no command sign. I then rescued my phone and tried it again flashing to both boot_a and boot_b still to no avail. If anyone has any info on why this is and has a solution to my problem it would be greatly appreciated.

That is just how the patched boot.img is created.
Now you have to flash it with fastboot.exe
Been thru that already no root.
Do I have to rename it to boot.img when I flash it or can I leave with with the patched name?
I am going to start from scratch again. I don't think I made a mistake because I rooted my G7 Play this way too. I also get feedback from terminal confirming flashing.

Ok, if you want help you have to give details.
No root means nothing.
I downloaded firmware from Rescue assistant copied boot.img to phone selected it thru magical and patched it. Copied patched boot.img to PC. Put it in ADB folder renamed it back to boot.img. Opened up ADB terminal and flashed - fastboot flash boot boot.img. Terminal said writing boot_a......okay.....finished. reboot no root. Tried again with flashing to boot_a and to boot_b. Reboot still no root. That's about all I can tell you everything checked out including ramdisk - yes in Magisk, boot.img from same firmware that is currently on phone. Not sure why it's not working.
Actually, sorry phone is now rooted. Once I added root checker to superuser in magisk it showed phone was successfully rooted Thanks for all your help!
Just to confirm, as I've yet to root my device and may encounter this same issue. Did you solve it having done anything different with the rooting procedure or was it a simple matter of adding the root app to Magisk SU? If the latter, Did magisk display the SU prompt at all?
Yes, the root instructions are good. I think why Magisk did not prompt me, initially was because my phone was setting up for the first time and it was bogged down by Google restoring apps etc. Now Magisk prompts me every time for root apps.
So I'm Down to Help this is what I did. So
Download Rescue and blah blah assistant
Found My Phone Checked and Double Checked all information then when I did so I extract led the Folder to My desktop, looked inside it's little bundle of goodness to find boot.img pulled it out and connect my Moto G.
At This Point I Just Opened up My Phone storage (from My P.C) pulled it out and stuck it in my main storage.
At that point Went and Got Magisk v.23 renamed the download as Magisk v.23.apk
Then Riped her Open Like A wild animal installed the .apk (If the File Manager or whatever you are using won't let you install go to settings for the particular File Manager you are using on your phone and allow download a from unknown sources)
Pulled out the boot.img I put in my main storage and went to My sexy New Magisk App and selected "select and Patch a file"
At the Point stepped out for a quick smoke and had a tug.
Then your final product will be Magisk_patchedv23.img (or something like that)
Then after you get all that mumbo move that back to your P.C
I assume you have adb fastboot
So then I pull it up (not sure if it affects anything but I did adb Root)
Anywho first I did
adb devices -l
As soon as I see my phone se then I know I got it.
#also side not make sure the wording next to the device says device
Ok so at the point type
adb reboot fastboot
Then repeat same command as the adb one
Fastboot devices
#seeyour device? Dope
Then wherever you put that patched image sometimes you need to put the FULL path
Example for me it was
Fastboot flash magisk_patched.img boot
Which didn't work so tried the _a still nothing soo hence the FULL PATH I put it on my desktop if you don't know the full path right click the file and hit properties
final Command for me
fastboot flash boot C:\Users\insan\Desktop\magisk_patched.img
Boom Done and Done!!!! And as always take Back Ups Before and After and Save that Patch .img
I've needed it like 10 times !
Hope That Helps Ya
And the last pic Is Proof
God Bless, and Good Luck!

Sorry about that and thank you
What are you using to gain root & is the bootloader unlocked? You should probably unlock the bootloader first, if you have not done so.
I was able to unlock the bootloader on this device with fastboot:
Type:
fastboot flashing unlock
Then:
fastboot reboot
WARNING: This will wipe/reset your device but, the bootloader will be unlocked.
I am using ubuntu 21.10 so I did not have to download the SDK to do this.
But, in order to root with Magisk I need to either extract the boot.img from the stock firmware or directly from the device using TWRP and fastboot but, we don't have a TWRP image for this device and i'm not sure how to port it. (I'm a bit rusty) If you can get TWRP on the device, let me know. I need a copy of the stock recovery.img to make a port of TWRP (I believe) and in order for that I need a copy of the stock firmware which I cannot find. I'm sure I have ported TWRP in the past using Android Kitchen.
any updates on this device ?
Hey I have a boot loop now on the stratus c5 from cloud mobile. Is there any way you could send me a copy of the factory firmware or the boot.img file if you have gotten it. I am able to enter fastboot mode still but that is it. Normal boot and recovery boot just stay in loops. I think tried flashing with a patched-boot.img i found but it was the wrong one and now im screwed bc i have overwritten the boot partition. Let me know if you are able to extract that img file or if you have the firmware.

Hello,
since a long time, I'm searching for a solution to root my Wiko View 4 (W-V830-EEA).
I tried to use automatic root software without success: KingRoot (PC & apk version), KingoRoot (PC & apk version) and VRoot (PC version).
I also have the problem, that I can't find the original stock rom for this device and also no alternative recovery like TWRP.
Everything I found was this rom: {Mod edit: Link removed. Oswald Boelcke}
But I can't download this rom without a premium account and I also don't know, if this is the correct firmware for my device.
My custom build version is: W-V830-EEA-V01.130-20-10.0-GBL
My build number is: QP1A.190711.020 release-keys
Only unlocking the bootloader with "fastboot flashing unlock" worked.
Is anyone able to upload the exact rom version for this device? Than I could try to patch the boot.img with Magisk and root the phone in this way.
Thanks for any help
to dl stock rom from wiko, goto wikomobile.com
at the bottom of page, click "MAJ" and you should end up here:
Wiko Mobile : Espace Client / Connexion.
customer-fr.wikomobile.com
enter your IMEI and you should trigger a download of the stock ROM package (in a ZIP in an EXE blabla but you can extract it all manually
EDIT: looks like this site doesn't charge either https://firmwarefile.com/wiko-view-4-lite-w-v730
if the view 4 is anything like the view 3, you cannot flash the magisk modified boot image from fastboot without unlocking the bootloader which I have not figure out how to do...

I have the same phone how did you root it ? If there a guide that is safe to use ? Thank you
Unlock the bootloader first, this step will factory reset your phone https://romprovider.com/unlock-bootloader-android/
On your PC:
1. Install Fastboot driver
2. Install MediaTek_Preloader_USB_VCOM_Drivers_Setup_Signed
3. Extract platform-tools
4. On your phone, Enable Developer Options, USB debugging and OEM Unlocking
5. Unlock bootloader (this step will factory reset your phone): Phone in fastboot mode, open command prompt on PC > fastboot devices > fastboot flashing unlock. Note this will cause the phone to show the "Orange State" warning on boot up. You can ignore this or remove it later.
(If device is unauthorised in ADB or Fastboot, go to Developer Options on phone, revoke USB debugging authorisation, disable then enable USB debugging. You should now get an authorisation confirmation dialogue when you try to connect with ADB/Fastboot. If not, type "adb kill-server", then "adb devices" or "adb start-server" in the command prompt).
6. Place boot.img on phone with USB file transfer (either from stock ROM, or read from phone using SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1924_Win) and patch it with Magisk v5.2. NO need to patch vbmeta.img
7. Transfer patched boot.img back to PC
8. Flash the patched boot.img to phone either with SP Flash Tool or Fastboot command in ADB (fastboot flash boot boot.img). Take care here, make sure it's the right image going to the right location and that ALL other files are de-selected, especially the preloader file, always de-select this when flashing any firmware unless you know what you're doing!
Phone is now rooted.

It is possible that in the future, developers may create custom ROMs and TWRP recoveries for the device, especially if it becomes popular among the Android community.
If a custom ROM and TWRP recovery becomes available for your device in the future, you will be able to flash it by following the instructions provided by the developer. Keep in mind that installing custom ROMs and recoveries comes with some risks, and it is important to backup your data and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging your device.

Thanks for your work on the Cubot phone .Im a fan of them also. I found that twrp recovery 3.40 works on the Note 20/20Pro you just have to flash vbmeta BEFORE and AFTER you flash twrp to the device. Im also seeing separate websites claiming twrp 3.40 is also used with the Cubot P40 model. I dont see why it wouldnt work with the P50. Its worth a shot. Also theres alot more "familiars" with Mediatek phones like these in Hovatek forum. Since you already have information on how to root maybe consider starting your own P50 thread over there.

In this article, I will be showing you how you can install TWRP recovery on any Android smartphone. By following this guide you will be able to install
magiskapp.com
The TWRP Recovery file it refers to is the one you (hopefully) downloaded from this link:
Hovatek
Download files
www.hovatek.com
BUT, you also need to flash a vbmeta file BEFORE and AFTER the recovery.img, and I'm still unsure which vbmeta file it is, as elimoviebuff hasn't replied to my question regarding that.

I get it, but I have to flash the .bin to remove the yellow/red state on boot. I don't know how to install the lk.bin file. If you can help me. Thank you.
Ah I see, you're rooting the phone first. Ok I've just checked my own notes on this, so, if you have edited the lk.img file as described in that Hovatek thread, then do as follows:
When flashing with SP Flash Tool, make sure the correct lk.img file is chosen as SP Flash Tool chooses lk-verified.img by default (click along to the right of the file list under "Location" and choose your edited lk.img file here).
OR, flash with ADB (fastboot flash lk lk.img).
Then install Magisk on your phone if you haven't already.
boot.img is for rooting the phone, lk.img is only to remove the orange state message and the 5 second delay when the phone boots, it does not actually remove it's orange state and is not needed for the phone to be rooted.
To un-root, you should just flash the original boot.img and lk-verified.img from the stock firmware ROM file.

Good morning. Thank you for the information given.
I wanted to ask: is it necessary or useful to install an antivirus on your smartphone now that it's been rooted? Thank you.
I haven't but that's just down to personal choice really. It's certainly useful if you like to try stuff from unknown sources, although personally I've rarely encountered viruses on Android. I'm not saying they don't exist though.
Have you successfully rooted your phone then? What about TWRP, have you tried that yet?
