can I change my phone variant. - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

My mobile is in soft bank variant . I want to change this variant By flashing another variant software .
I am not very experienced in these tasks
Is it really possible to do this?
And if it can be done like this, how can I do it, can any experienced person help me .

you can croosflash with kdz or restoring backup partitions and will be another softvare but you can not trully convert phone to another variant because imei and NT code stay inside vital partitions.
Note: if you croosflash JP variant losing NFC functionallity.

IMEI on custom ROM

Is there any way to set own IMEI code after flashing a custom ROM?
-----------------------
Sorry for my bad english
No. The IMEI code is set in your phone's hardware so adding a custom ROM won't do anything to it
Sent from my LG-P509
AFAIK. IMEI can be corrupted, so always have efs back up.
when i was on spica, chaging form 2.2 to 2.1 have put my imei to zero's , good thing that im aware of it , so i have retained my imei

I know. But, after flashing, in Settings > About phone, the IMEI value is still the same? I don't think Android can read it directly from harware, probably it is read from a string stored somewhere in the firmware. In that case, can I replace that value with the proper one?
The IMEI should remain the same. It changes only when your entire PCB gets replaced after bricking your phone, as in my case.
Changing IMEI is illegal in most countries. Please don't ask us how to breach laws.

In fact, Android can and does read it directly from the hardware. Android reads lots of things from hardware chips like cell radios, sim cards, etc. Not everything in the phone has to be stored in a text file.

Ok, thanks. I thought a string should have been stored in some DB...

Demo unit

Hello, today I got a live demo unit from Samsung, but it's a small problem, in this device, it is not possible to use the phone part, it is possible to fix this? phone is not locked, and the sim card is in working, and all apn is i order, but it wont register on the network.
NEW INFO!
My phone is "out of service" and i cant turn it on, so i can use it.. can some one please help me.
the raido is working, becasue WIfi is working, the same with thew bluetooth, so it seems to be loocked for use of sim cards.
please help me some one?
my imei is a very strange imei starts with 00499................
Hello Jespersen84. Seems like i9300 live demo units don't have their own IMEI (they all have the same) and the EFS folder isn't complete, some files are missing.
You can use everything, except phone calls, sms, mms and 3G data.
Thats correct,
but i was hoping it can be fixed, maybe change imei, or is it possible to copy the files that are missing to the efs folder?
i have tried to root it, i have installed new custom rom, nothing wil work, i thing i have to cange the IMEI to get it to work.

[Q] Messed up IMEI

Hello all.
Yesterday i was trying to install the last version of Paranoidandroid but when phone booted, i noticed that it had no data connection.
So i tried to make a call, but when you compose a number and press the phone button i get the error "not registered on the net" (hope the translation is good as i get the message in my language Italian).
Reading here and there i was able to undestand that the problem is the IMEI: my IMEI is changed and it displays a general one.
The big problem is that i pluged in into my PC the Hard disc that i used to backup my data and it doesn't work.... nothing...All the data are lost...
Am i able to recover my original IMEI (i found some guide around the web to get back IMEIs for AT&T and Verizon S3s with no backup, but not International GT-I9300) without a efs backup or do i need to send it back to Samsung (already resetted counters and restored original stock rom)? If i need to send it back, will they fix it in warranty (i'm still warranty covered) or will they ask me for moneys?
thanks in advance.
Hi,
First, you must try to install the latest stock firmware corresponding to your country and do a wipe data/cache. In some cases, the true IMEI will be back.
After that, if it doesn't work and if you haven't an EFS folder backup, there are no solution to fix your problem. As you said, we can get back IMEI for Qualcomm based Galaxy S3 (corresponding to USA Market) but Exynos' Galaxy S3 used EFS folder containing nv_data.bin that packaged the IMEI number and cannot be write without proprietary software.
If you cannot retreive your IMEI with the first method, send your Galaxy S3 to Samsung After Sale Services. Be sure that your custom flash counter is set to 0 and the firmware is a stock one before try a warranty fixing. In some case, it's covered by warranty (if there are no flashing watermark) but they can demand you some money to do that if they think you have flash/root the device.

Thank you, i really appreciate your reply.
Already flashed the latest stock rom for my country and operator and resetted all the counters, guess my last resort is Samsung after sales service... let's hope they will not ask for money.
Like @lelinuxien52 said, we can't restore those devices. Next time you should make several backups of your /EFS partition and them put them to an online storage facility, like DropBox, Google Drive or SkyDrive.
Would have loved to help, but you'll have to:
A: Beg that you have an old dusty backup on your PC or SD card somewhere,
B: flash a new Sammy stock ROM (Download here: http://sammobile.com/firmware) and hope that that works,
or
C: Send it to your carrier and hope they can fix it. They'll probably send you a new device, but if you're lucky they have some kind of program which can generate an EFS paritition with the data from the stickers on your phone or box.
Agree with @familyguy59 : DropBox or Google Drive (why not Mega instead of SkyDrive !) is your best friend against EFS folder problem. Do not forget to save it when you receive your new/fix smartphone.

It would be nice if the software could be available here (but available only for user with bricked /efs folder, not for thieves !).

To be honests the only lesson i learned here is: Keep that device as stock and stop messing around with it lol
It'a already wonderfull as stock, i had really no need to flash custom ROMs... it's just that i'm a flash-addicted user since my first android phone (Acer Liquid) but well... i deserved it i think ^^
Thanks anyone for the replies

Well then you missed something... You can and should mess around with it. Just be more careful.
(Check my description) I have created a universal Android tool kit which, in the next update, hopefully, will be able to back up the GS III's /EFS partition. Check it out, some time.

Need Big Help - QCN-Backup from V60

Hello, I want to ask you a very big favor. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, I managed to delete all partitions from my V60 with the QFIL tool. I misunderstood the command "erase entire flash" in the Partition Manager and really only wanted to delete a single partition.
Then unfortunately the whole phone was flat ...
Unfortunately, as is usually the case, I don't have any backup data, including NVRAM, EFS and Modemst data. I've already restored everything else. Still, without the so-called QCN data, I'm in a fix ...
I would like to ask the enthusiasts at to create a QCN backup of their own V60 so that I can make it available to me.
Since I do not want you to give me your IMEI, I have set 2 simple tools here with which you can exchange the existing IMEI from the QCN backup with another IMEI of your choice. If you wish, I can provide you with an IMEI.
How you restore your phone? I have the phone in 9008 state hardbricked.

Don't do the following steps if your partition table is still OK. Otherwise you will irrevocably delete all the contents of your partitions, including the security-relevant partitions, such as e.g. the EFS Partitions!!!
Waiting until battery is empty, Then you get automatical back in 9008.
Then i flashed with Rawprogram0.xml from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-v60-partition-table.4312147/.
Now i get back my partions List (but with empty partitions). At last i flashed some Boot partitions, reboot the phone in DL-Mode and make with LGUP an refurbished Flash.
Attention: I have used my own gpt-main.bin files extract from my actually firmware kdz/dz to create the partition List with Rawprogram0.XML.
If your partition table ist still ok, then try to reflash only the Boot partitions and reboot then in DL-Mode and try with LGUP a Upgrade or a Partition DL.
I missed deleted patition lg v60
Can teach me restore patition by rawprogram0.xml
I downloaded https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-v60-partition-table.4312147/.
But i dont know how to flash. Help me pls . Thank
With this files you can only create a new partition table on your v60. To restore your missing partitions, you should have backups from these partition or you must extract them from kdz/dz.
Which partitions do you have deleted?
After restore patition.
What is files patitionboot boot a b or ......?
I don't know about a Partition with Name "partitionboot".
The partitions "boot a" and "boot b" are Byte identical. You can both flash with a partition named "boot".
U are remember?
What you flash patition for boot to DownLoad mode?
I believe it is the laf partition
I can provide you full backup than you can restore it, except User data you can get it from kdz, also see this topic

IMEI Issues

Hi thank you in advance to everyone before hand for your time and assistance.
So I am currently having this issue, I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, and I installed Ubuntu touch on it a long time ago, and I used to love it however, I realized that the project for that specific model was abandoned since there were no updates, even up to this date it has not received an OTA update and is currently sitting on version 2021/09/21, and despite my efforts to get Waydroid working properly I just managed to get it barely up and running, after seeing no updates, probably due to low demand or usage on that specific device, I gave up and decided to return the device to Android.
It bricked, somehow I managed to get it up and running once more, however on Android using the stock ROM MIUI baseband and IMEI showed as unknown, after looking for a way to restore the IMEI through software, it was possible but it required a backup of the NVRAM and NVDATA partitions, which I did not have access to from Android and sadly I did not back up before installing UT, and the only other solution I found on how to fix it, was through hardware modification which is beyond my level of skill, so I decided to install UT once more to see if it somehow UT had something to do with the IMEI missing on Android, to my surprise on UT the IMEI can be read just fine, it shows on my settings listed and somehow UT is able to communicate with the modem to connect to network through SIM, which makes me wonder if UT encrypts the NVRAM/NVDATA partition in a way that Android can not read it afterwards or just formats in a way that Android can not see it, and this is the reason why I am here.
I need some assistance with the following, in Android is possible to make a back up of the different partitions, and through a rooted device you can re-flash the parameters for the IMEI to restore it, so since UT can read these partitions and files, I need to know if I am able to extract the NVRAM.bin file through UT and the NVDATA.img partition, so that I can after flashing Android back, use this two specific partitions extracted from UT to restore the IMEI on Android. so how can I back up these partitions on UT? is this something even possible? and if possible would these files be compatible with Android?
if you read all the way to this point, I thank you for your time and any advice!
Regards,
having same issue, fortunately i have backup of nvram and nvdata
