App issues on wifi - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

I have been having some issues with apps on my device. A lot of my streaming apps like Netflix hulu hbomax won't load at all and says it no connection to interent while connected on wifi. However when I'm on data everything loads fine. Its only happening with specific apps other apps work as usual. I've tried resetting the network (wife's s21 works fine with all apps including ones mentioned and tv apps work fine) forgetting all network settings Uninstalling and reinstalling. Every just up to about factory resetting. Any ideas?

Try to turn off private DNS in settings, connections, more connection settings.
Or just search DNS in settings app to find.

Private DNS would affect both WiFi and Mobile Data. Since everything works fine on mobile data, you can rule out a problem with this setting.

VPN on your PC has nothing to do with your phone.
Go to your WiFi properties and see what the network details say:

Have you tried 'Reset Network Settings'? This is different from forgetting individual networks.

As far as I know, the DNS server on your device overrides the settings on the router.
If your WiFi was blocking the DNS server on your phone as you say, then how come other apps are working normally?
Are the settings on your phone different from the one on your wife's phone?

Facebook APP not working over WIFI

Hi
I have neat rom (latest) and siyah kernel (latest) installed. My facebook app does not work over WIFI (i can login and can see a circle moving, nothing happens). I have tried to re-install the app multiple times, also deleted cache and deleted dalvik etc, nothing works.
However the app works perfectly fine over 3g.
I have also tried to chnage the DNS of my router to 8.8.8.8 and also tried using open DNS, no good~ :fingers-crossed:
Can anyone suggest me what can i do. I am having the same issue with my wife's GNEX.
I have also tried to reset my modem and router does n ot help either!!

Please advise.
Bump..can someone suggest please?
I have same problem, have you tried friendcaster?
It doesn't let me login through Web page. So friendcaster also doesn't work eventually.

UPDATE: I wiped data, format system, completely reinstalled everything and did not restore anything. Still Facebook APP does not work on WIFI. I reset my WIFI settings, reset my router still does not work. The facebook works fine using a browser on PC and the browser on my phone. I am not sure whats wrong. I think it is something to do with ports etc on WIFI.
I am stuck!
Edit: When i try to log in to the facebook app using the WIFI i also get, sign in failed , try single sign in method. I know i can use another facebook app but i am wondering whats wrong with the default FB app!

This is exactly my problem and tried all the things you have too, totally at a loss!
I changed the router MTU from 1492 to 1100, the FB worked for 5 minutes and then again it is stuck!
Has anyone able to get a solution so that my apps (facebook) starts working overWIFI?
I've got here some possiblity's, these possibilty's are about the network aspect of your wireless.
Check your router's firewall (Should be turned off)
Check QoS setting on your router (turn it off)
DNS flush your router
Disable WMM in wireless settings of your router
Disble GI in wireless settings of your router
Restart your router
If you need some support contact me on Skype

Hi
Thanks for the support. I tried first 3 steps, didn't work. I am unable to find Gi and wmm settings on my router. Also, will disabling qos and firewall harm my network speed/security in any way?

Update
Of late i Have noticed that a couple of more apps are not working over WIFI. Now I am sure there is something wrong with my router settings. I am puzzled as i do not know what changed all of a sudden.
Sent from a better Galaxy designed for humans!
I have something a little similar - my Play Store updates and app downloads rarely work under wifi but work just fine on phone connection. I'm almost sure it is MTU settings - I changed ISP recently to Optus and noticed a couple of issues. I diagnosed MTU's being incorrect, adjusted the modem to max, then checked and adjusted each PC and the access flies nicely now.
However, although I can adjust the MTU on my S3 using terminal emulator I cannot get the setting to stick - restart the phone OR even don';t use it for a while and the MTU reverts to 1500 - it needs to be 1492. When it is on 1492 all my updates etc work but next time I try to use the phone they hang because MTU is back to 1500 on my wlan0 link.
Anyone have advice on how to reset the MTU and make it stay that way?
NOTE: To find the optimum MTU for your network connection, do this on an attached PC (ethernet or wireless)
Start a command prompt with elevation (right click and choose Run As Administrator)
netsh interface ipv4 show subinterface
(This shows current MTU settings - note you need to check your modem for settings there)
ping www.google.com –f –l 1500 (calc for mtu is last successful ping +28)
Step down the figure by 20 for each time until you get a successful ping response, then work your way back up until you know the value for the highest successful ping. Add 28 to that figure. then run one or more of the commands below depending on which connections you use. e.g. my highest was 1464, so +28 = 1492
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Bluetooth Network Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent
Note I am not sure if you can simply look at your modem MTU and do the opposite calculation - e.g. my modem is on 1500 so I might have been able to work out my highest MTU from that.

Huawei G700 keeps asking permission to use mobile data after WiFi disconnects

I recently bought a Huawei G700. It's a fairly new and uncommon device. It runs Android 4.2.1 in combination with Huawei's own Emotion UI
When I have WiFi enabled and for some reason my Wifi disconnects (for example I go out of reach), my phone keeps asking me, each and every time, if it's allowed to use Mobile Data. if I don't answer, my mobile data does not connect thus I can't recieve any mails etc which is highly annoying.
This is the exact error/popup message that I get:
Data connection change
WLAN is unavailable, try to connect to mobile network?
I've googled this exact phrase, but I get 0 results.
How can I prevent my phone from asking if it's allowed to use mobile data?

It seems that this behavior is present in all recent Chinese ROMs from Huawei and there is no way to disable it. However, I found a workaround for it; The message only popsup if you have WiFi and Data Enabled and you lose WiFi connectivity. Then your phone will ask if it's allowed to switch from WiFi to Data. So, if you make sure WiFi is disabled before switching to Data, it will not ask this question. To do so manually, takes a lot of time. Luckily there is an app that can automate this task for you. Here's how:
Install the app 'Llama' from the Market (Free) and create these two events:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The 1 second delay is necessary, else it does not work properly.
What it does: Switch off WiFi as soon WiFi disconnects from your WiFi network and then enables Data. This way, it does not show the popup and 'automatically' switch to Data. Don't forget to manually enable WiFi again if you are in reach again of your WiFi network.
If you want Llama to automatically turn back WiFi on as soon you get home/in reach of your WiFi, you have to let it learn your location. Read the help/documentention on how to do so. It's pretty easy to do
This 'fix' works for me 9 out 10 times. Give it a try, I hope it helps you.
Kind regards.

Possible to connect to wifi AND cellular data at same time?

Hi all. I have a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV s-edition 2017, who got app control through wifi spot from car. However, the wifi range is horrible, so I was wondering if you guys know of any phone that can be connected to both wifi net (without internet) and same time connected to internet through cellular data (3g or 4g)
What I want:
Have a phone in car, connected to the cars wifi net (no internet) and through perhaps an app like airdroid, connect to that phone, and that way connect to the car through internet.
I have tried this with honor 7, but this so called smart phone, either is on wifi with no internet, or cellular data with internet. It will not work on both nets at same time.
Is the any android phone this would work on, or is there any workaround/hack to make this work. Surely, this has to be possible?
-Thanx, Ray

If your android running on marshmallow then there is a option in developer setting of cellular data always active. Turn that feature on and connect to mobile data and wifi simultaneously.
Ashwinirg answered the question, but I want to throw in that there are services, like Speedify, which claim some sort of "channel bonding" that merge your WiFi with your data connection to enhance your speed. I have no idea if Speedify or similar services actually work, but if you're interesting in enabling wifi + cellular data together, you might want to look into those services also.

Don't know if it is available in android nougat but it may be it available on marshmallow then it also available in Nougat..
Update:
So I bought myself a Lenovo p2, cause of its bigger battery, but it seems like it's not able to go between cellular data and wifi seamlessly like honor 7 did. It got the same options in developer mode, but it's not working.

Certain apps work if set right. It's kind of like downloading a torrent. Multiple connections work together to transfer the same file resulting in much faster speeds.

Question 5ghz wifi dosent work on redmagic 7

hi i just got my redmagic 7 today i had 6pro before but on my redmagic 7 i cant find 5ghz wifi in wifi settings but it works perfectly fine on my redmagic 6 pro any idea? whats the problem i tried to reset didnt help
Argh mate.. I literally got mine in the post this morning, fired it up, start going through the usual android initial setup, asks to connect to wifi, there is my 5Ghz connection, I connect to it, boom, all good.
Then it tells me there is an update right away, straight after connecting to 5Ghz wifi, so of course I accept. It downloads, installs, tells me to reboot. I do.
Phone reboots, wifi no longer connected, asks me to connect to wifi. I search for my 5Ghz wifi, nada.zip.gone.
Oh, my 2.4Ghz connection is showing, just no more my 5Ghz...
So yeah, it's definitely the software update that has knocked 5Ghz wifi off for no apparent reason that I can fathom. Rather frustrating to say the least.
The update the phone updated to is: NX679J_EUCommon_V4.11

You need to either enable or disable 20/40hz coexist in your router. This is a normal thing for cheap wifi modules. My PS Vita and Xbox One are the same way. Wifi doesn't work at all if that is enabled or disabled. Can't remember which one it was. Haven't used those for years lol.
But it has something to do with 20hz and 40hz coexisting that makes 5Ghz not come up for some devices. It also limits your speed to 286mbps.
This will be fixed in software cause it's likely just a bug when they were optimizing better wifi stability but ended up dropping a portion of how 5Ghz works lol

Question Wifi does not work when changing antenna

Hello, since the first day I have a problem with the wifi of my s23 ultra. When I move from one room to another and receive the wifi signal from a different antenna, the mobile wifi is not working. There is a symbol next to the wifi icon and I have to close and reopen the wifi connection to make it work properly. These latest updates have not been able to fix this. I have done a lot of research and there are reports of problems with wifi6, but this is not my case. All the "tricks" to fix the wifi that I have read, have not helped. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I'm sure it's not a problem with the antenna, because at my place of work the same thing happens to me.
This is usually related to your wifi, not your device. Happens to me at home.

What kind of routers or access point are you using home and at work? If you don't know maybe there is a chance that you have same router/AP at work? If that's the case it's likely router/AP fault
I don't know what else to do or try. I just know that with previous Samsung phones I have never had that happen. I want to believe that it is something that will be solved with a future update, because if not, it seems very bad that such an expensive phone has such an annoying failure.

Your AP/router is more like a failure. No issues on any router for me(tried at least 10. Bunch of cisco AP, xiaomi, tp link. Recently bought xiaomi ax6000 wifi 6e. 0 problems). Try to play around with settings. Check router/ap firewall it could be blocking connection for some reason.
Is that on your network/router or some wifi hotspot?
maybe there is some ip conflict, try setting ip you router from scratch, so reset everything and connect it first just to your device thats having the problem
