I am trying to get my Mother's Moto G to automatically answer her phone and turn on the speaker. I have tried the MotoAnswer app and it will answer the phone, but the app's speaker on function does not work. Neither will Tasker. I found out at some point Google made phones unable to automatically turn the speaker on. My Mother is 90 YO, bedridden, and has torn rotators in both shoulders so she cannot put the phone to her ear. I am looking for help on how to bypass this, accessibility items that are available or get another phone (older Android phone possibly. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, a few days ago I noticed the headset icon in my Xperia X10's task bar, even though no headset or headphones were plugged in. Turn off/on proved to no avail.
Everything else in the phone functions normal, and if I do plug in earphones, they still work.
The problem is really that if I call someone, I must use earphones in order to hear them, because the phone is trying to output the audio through the apparent headset.
If anyone has experienced this before, or knows of any possible solution, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
When I phone someone, on the dialer, there is a button for speakerphone....make sure that is unchecked and that one the dialer screen is off.
Is Bluetooth on? Add the Power Control Widget on the homescreen....uncheck the bluetooth box
If you open Settings->Applications and take a look at what apps are running.....what is there?
Are there any apps that have anything to do with a music app or something?
thanks for your help beau420, but I now believe it is a hardware problem, after a minute of fiddling with inserting and removing earphones, I managed to make the phone realize nothing was plugged in, and hopefully have now solved the problem
I searched but couldn't find any advice, so apologize if it's been covered. When I go to bed and put my watch on my charging pedestal, I get this damned "Ding!" sound that most of the time wakes up and pisses off my wife. Does anyone have a way of disabling this without blanking out the audio file?
I remember this was done before previously on another device where the sound file was tracked down and you just had to overwrite the file with a silent audio file of the same name and format. Unfortunately if that requires rooting the device, I haven't done so yet and trying to avoid it ( i have no problems doing this on my phone as all my phones have always been rooted).
Any help is appreciated, thanks for reading.
As the charger seems to always not want to connect, I prefer to have the ding sound to indicate it connects. Before the marshmallow update, it would vibrate which was fine.
You can mute the ding sound by turning the media volume down in the settings on your watch.
You can download a watch face that allows Tasker (Or AutoWear) and then use Tasker to set a profile to mute the media volume during specified hours. No need to root the watch and you should be good to go.
Putting the watch into theatre mode will mute the ding, just double tap the crown button, plug it in, and if you want it lit up overnight just hit the button again ?

Hello guys,
My XAU Dual showing microphone issues during making calls! when I make a phone call my friends keep complaining about barely hearing me (very low voice) or my voice is like someone talking in a deep tunnel with too much echo ..sort of that!
here are some things I tried to fix the issue but all failed to fix it:
1- I tried factory resetting my device
2- tried repairing my device software using Xperia Companion
3- tried disabling audio enhancement (ClearAudio+ ....etc)
4- in settings>call>SIM>Equalizer ...set to normal
5- tried looking for microphone noise suppression in settings.. can't find it
Didn't drop my device & never exposed to any fluids!!
Tho, I ran diagnostics>tested my microphone, one time I hear my voice good, then gave it another try later on & the microphone recorder a very low sound!!
Am really outta options here & this issue really sucks
My device model number is F3212, running android 6.0, build number 36.0.B.2.146.
Any ideas..
I've been experiencing this problem on two different XA Ultras. The microphone seems to switch to the one on the top of the phone so if you hold the phone upside down people can hear you. I've had to switch to speakerphone output to talk to people when this happens. Switching back to phone from speakerphone sometimes makes it work normally but not all the time.
I suspect it has something to do with an app that is running earlier, maybe google play music or OK google.
I have tried reset and it doesn't help. The problem comes back.
There is a similar if not identical issue on another Sony phone, the solution being to turn off microphone noise suppression. I haven't tried this.

I didn't notice that flipping the phone or switching to speaker output might work, gotta try it first.
What bugs me the most is the fact that I can't find anything related to disabiling microphone noise suppression at an section of this device settings!
Am using a headphone currently & waiting for Android nougat to hit the device & hopefully fix the issue.
This problem was never there when I first used my device out of its box, but later on it appeard after may be 2 upgrade patches of Android 6.0 few months later.
Waiting is my only hope...
Hi,. Hoping someone here can help me, I've moved from an iPhone to an Android phone and when plugged into the car I have to turn the volume on the car way up to hear it. It's the same on the Bluetooth in my motorcycle helmet. I really need the Bluetooth bit for GPS.
I've tried heaps and heaps of booster apps and different music players but nothing works.
Google has led me here.
I'm a total been as far as rooting and stuff goes so I need something relatively easy.
Phone is an Optus X smart aka Alcatel pop 4 android is 6.0.1
Cheers
Issue: We both have EAOS Slimbud headsets to use while riding our motorcycles. It comes with the EAOS intercom app. We use the app to set a "group" up so that while riding we can talk and listen to our music at the same time. What we noticed is that once the phones lock the music we can still hear but the ability to hear each other talk ends. The minute we unock our phones both mics work again. I tried keeping my screen on while hers locked and instantly she could still hear me but i could no longer hear her and vice versa. This tells me that it is not phone specific. Any ideas?
I did install the Kinscreen app to both phones to keep our screens from turning off. It is a quickfix but only leads to battery drain. She has an Galaxy S9 and I have a Google Pixel XL. My phone is a work phone therefore my company's admin rights to the phone mandates that it have a lock on it. I have it set to pin. Any help is appreciated.
