Can't power up the phone directly to the system with power key

Hello
Only way to start Android in flashed Moto E xt1021 is going to bootloader mode and selecting "Normal Powerup", otherwise it boots to TWRP.
With the phone power off, then
pressing and holding the power key,
the "bootloader unlocked" warning appears, then
releasing the power key,
TWRP starts.
I tried flashing these two roms:
Cyanogenmod cm-13.0-20160708-NIGHTLY-condor.zip
Stock XT1021_Retail_US_51_Optimized_v1.0a_Non-Deodexed.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3167111
Tried flashing with latest TWRP and Cyanogenmod recovery but the problem is always the same. Can't power the system directly with the power key.
Please tell me any hint on how to solve this
Must add that originally I ota upgraded to lollipop then unlocked the phone and flashed it.
I can't find how to boot the phone directly to system, reflashed many times and nothing...
Any ideas??
Nothing?

Moto E 2015 Freedompop LTE with No OS

Acquired a free Moto E 2015 2nd Edn. LTE Freedompop with TeamWin Recovery TWRP v2.8.7. reporting, " "No OS Installed!" A normal boot will produce a quick vibrate and then the blue earth/water M logo on a white screen with "Powered by Andorid" at the bottom, which fades to black about one minute in, and then this loops indefinitely. To get out of this loop, I hold Power down about 10 seconds, the screen goes black, I release Power, wait a half a second then press and hold Power and VOL-. This brings up "Start" and some data like "AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)" and "Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 3"
Pressing VOL- (or VOL+) cycles thru "Restart bootloader," "Recover mode," "Power off," "Factory," "Barcodes," "BP tools," "Qcom," "Bootloader logs".
It never had an SDcard, and when hooked up to a laptop, I get "Surnia" device, with the TWRP folder. I put ROM .zips here, but TWRP can not see this folder (I can't find it, anyways). So I put in an SDcard, copied files there, and when I try to install, TWRP fails for any ROM I've tried, such as CM 11, GApps, and XT1526_SURNIA_ACG_LTE_5.1_LPI23.29-20_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip.
Since I can't boot in to any OS, I can't set any settings beforehand.
Help? Ask me anything. Thanks!!

You shouldn't flash the Stock ROM zip in TWRP recovery. Follow this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...e-restore-moto-e-2015-stock-firmware-t3044936) and use the same Stock ROM zip to flash your phone back to stock. Once you are done with that, I can help you flash any Custom ROM you want.

That's not an error message, that's the message you'll see every bit if you unlock the bootloader. Do NOT relock your bootloader after installing custom recovery. Also to get into recovery (provided you installed it correctly and it wasn't erased after it booted info Android) is to turn your phone off (or pull battery) and then hold volume down & power button, one you see the LG logo let go of the power button only (still hold volume down) for about 1 second and then press the power button again and hope (never let go of volume down). It will ask you if you want to reset your phone, select yes two times and you will enter TWRP. If it actually resets your phone, TWRP isn't installed. Usually after installing TWRP you need to pull battery then use above method to boot into recovery, mount system partition and use TWRP file manner to delete come named "recovery from boot.p". You can also go ahead and install SuperSU or magisk (use magisk if you need to be able to pass safety net). Hopefully this helps you, also next time please include what model phone you have and what steps exactly you did as it's easier for others to attempt to help you.
Mines a H850 running nougat as well but thats the only thing it wont boot to recovery because when i hold down the volume down button and the power button the lg logo shows up but then after 4 seconds that google message will pop up and that gets in the way of doing the method to get onto recovery thats my problem

You have to follow exactly what I posted earlier. If you do that, it will show the factory reset screen which is you have TWRP installed, it will not into TWRP.
1) Power off phone
2) Press and hold volume down (do not let go until you see factory reset screen)
3) Press and hold power button, when you see LG logo, let go of power button for 1 second and then press and hold again.
If you do not follow step 3, you'll never be able to boot to recovery using button combo, it will just go to that message and then boot into Android.

Thanks for that! I got it working cheers
I'm actually having a similar issue too.
To clarify, I'm using a LG G5 (h830 variant) that is running resurrection remix.
I remember getting into recovery just to flash the updated modem and bootloader zips so I can fix the issue with powering off the device.
Now I noticed after doing that, I cannot get into recovery either with rebooting or with the button combo.
Thankfully I am rooted with magisk and this is probably the first time that I encountered this issue.
I don't want to further risk anything (because my phone is set up and don't want to lose any data) but would flashing twrp through the official app work just fine?

I know this is old,Just wanted to say thank it worked for me...
Been a while since I used LG and never with official bootloader unlock so I was thrown off by resetting to recovery as at first i never had the lg screen just the bootloader warning start
For those T-Mo G5 (H830) with unlocked bootloader, you will not see any LG logo. Once you see the lcd backlight comes on, immediately release the power button and press it again, all the while holding down the vol down button.
When you see the bootloader unlocked phone is unsafe msg by LG on the screen, it will already be too late and past the stage where you can boot to recovery. Simply power down and redo in that case.
(Needed to do the above as the latest Magisk 20.0 broke root and adb on H830, thus there was no way to get into recovery other than using the physical buttons. The Magisk Canary version of 20.1 works though.)

Tricks for getting into recovery: screen just goes black after blue RECOVERY line?

whether I release power button, release and re-press or keep finger on power button or release all three buttons.' SAMSUNG appears for a half a second and the screen goes black
ROM Toolbox starts to a failed root check, then predictably gives the 'an error occurred while processing the command' message on reboot recovery
(FWIW it DOES go into download mode but is never seen by XP so I cant get to first base with Odin)
I am trying to clean out the cache after I tried to update and received the YOUR PHONE HAS BEEN MODDED error message

Are you experienced with going to recovery in your s3. I hold it usually longer than required.
Maybe yiu should try that because the s3 isn't that much of a beast.
I usually keep holding all three buttons and when samsung logo appears i leave the power button but keep holding the vol and home until twrp shows up. Try that. Might work.

yes, I am
I have tried that method about two dozen times and wondered if there were any other tricks?
Hold home and vol+ while tapping the power button until you see the screen light up and let go of power but keep home and vol+ pressed.
If you can get adb you can type: adb reboot recovery (adb must be enabled in dev settings).
If you have a rooted stock rom installed it wouldn't hurt to flash the stock recovery via mobile odin and go from there.

How the **** do I enter recovery mode?

So after hours and hours i've finally installed twrp,
but now I cannot for the life of me boot my phone into recovery mode, everything I read from multiple sources all say "vol up + power"
nope doesnt work I just get constant flashing elephone logo.
Another said to do this and release them when I see logo, nope doesnt work I get no command,
Andother said release only the power button, nope I still get no command
And finally release only the vol up button, I still get no command....
I really don't understand how something so simple is this hard and irritating,
Please can anyone help me and tell me the actual way to enter twrp recovery mode?
Thanks
You need:
a. unlock bootloader from Developer Options
b. flash TWRP with FlashTool
c. turn the phone off
d. press and keep VOL+ and POWER. When the Elephone logo shows up, release the POWER button but keep pressing VOL+ until TWRP shows up on screen.

You're doing everything right. Your recovery is corrput. Don't ask how and why. I just got an Elephone p9000 to tinker with, I couldn't enter recovery. I flashed the stock 6.0 and it works now.
In case anyone is still looking for this information in 2019 and beyond: I got here by looking for this question for the Elephone S8, and I eventually figured out the way to do it on my device:
Hold Power, Volume Up and Volume Down all at the same time until you see the logo appear. It'll display for a long time. Then it goes dark, then it comes back, and suddenly we see TWRP booting.
I imagine other Elephone devices are similar.

Thats.. Not how it works.. Its Power button + Vol Down, the reason it isn't booting for him is simply because he did not flash the modified versions of Lk, preloader and etc, which are available on Lineage OS 13.0 thread, by flashing those files, twrp becomes bootable, it was a known issue, and doing that, allows to both boot the system and recovery properly

I was just trying to be helpful to future searchers by mentioning what works on the Elephone device that I happen to have. On mine, Power + Volume Down boots into the operating system, while Power + Volume Up + Volume Down boots into TWRP.
Google gave me this thread when I was searching for how to enter recovery on the S8, do I figured this information might at least help someone with an S8 who ends up here in the future, even if it's not the same for the P9000.
I have exactly the same problem. I can't get the p9000 in recovery or fastboot mode. Can anyone please help?
Edit: never mind, I managed.
