Hello! So awhile ago, I decided to try to root my new phone, ensuring model and etc was correct (CPH2459, this should be the usa unlocked variant right?) annddddd... it did not turn out so well. I had a friend recommend I reset- (which I mean I don't see what that would do but I have bootloader already unlocked so..) which just led me to being stuck on the setup screen where i cant get past wifi without my phone restarting- without fail to that as well. Also like touchscreen didnt work half the time and physical keys (Power, Volume) didn't seem to respond when the device was on either (excluding for a hard restart).
I followed this guide step by step (in no way blaming those individuals) https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...guide-from-fastboot-obtain-root-more.4495801/ and my phone is now stuck in a fastboot loop.
I do wish to clarify that I am sure I followed step by step, I didn't make a backup though as the initial guide didn't present how to do so.
I'm honestly afraid to do anything more to my phone, and I really do need this to work as it just happens my other phone broke recently. Would appreciate any help so, very much, I have no idea what I'm doing and I haven't the slightest clue as to what may be wrong.
I do understand this question has been asked a bit with this phone and there are other threads, but I couldn't find my answer. So I'm hoping for some direct help.

I'm guessing you noticed that the link they posted for the downloaded ota is the gn22000 model correct? yours is CPH (as i saw you stated) so i was just double-checking to make sure you didn't download the wrong variant's ota..

The current situation is that after the splash screen is seen, the phone is completely black and shows nothing.
Download mode and recovery mode do work.
What I did that caused that was:
1. Followed this guide in order to root the phone:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLQ51Pg77q4
The phone worked well after that.
2. Tried to install this zip by placing the zip file in the phone, restarting while holding volume up + home + power, and choosing to install zip from folder.
So probably step 2 was wrong. Please help me to fix the situation, and tell me how to do the second step correctly.
Thank you
Guy
UPDATE:
I flashed the root file again, and the phone works now.
Please tell me how to perform step 2 properly.
Thank you
Stop making a separate thread for this same issue every few days I.E make this the last thread you make about this issue. If you need further help in a few days/week/whatever, post to this thread, don't make another one.
This is a completely different issue, and this is only the second thread I open.
My previous phone is dead, I received a new phone and am now trying to install a new ROM on it. It has nothing to do with the dead motherboard of my previous phone.
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks
How was anyone meant to know you got a new phone.
Nobody should care whether it's a new phone or not.
I wrote the exact situation and how it happens exactly.
Nobody should remember that few days ago I was talking about a non-working phone. This new thread is a new problem, starting from scratch.
I can assure you I dont care.
Hi, all
I've made a horrible mistake while checking if my phone's bootloader was unlocked. I followed the steps in this tutorial http://techglen.com/2013/10/01/abd-and-fastboot-guide/ in order to install adb and fastboot drivers, and then followed this post's suggestions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2399320 to check if bootloader was unlocked.
I don't really know what I did wrong, but my phone suddenly froze in the starting screen (Chinese carrier logo, I believe) and it won't respond to any buttons. Can't turn it off and can't go into recovery or safe mode though key combinations.
Did I just brick my phone? I'm desperate here. The phone had a nearly full battery and it'll stay like that for a long time. I really hope someone knows what to do.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I've solved the problem by doing a hard reset, which I didn't know how to do (obviously I'm a complete 'noob' in this matter).
For anyone experiencing this problem in the future, you need to hold the power button for ten seconds or so.
Sorry for the useless post.
can you please help me with a soft unbricking of my lg g vista (vs880 [11b]) from verizon usa? i found the 880-11b firmware file, at least i think its the right one. if you know of/ come across this and are sure of its validity i would trust that more. i found and downloaded via a google search. i initially think i may have accidentally deleted the splash pic for the carrier when it boots. this caused it to just black screen after the lg logo n the backlight would flash like it was stuck in a boot loop just the image file was missing. after a little more research i figured out how to put it in the download mode so that i can use a pc to try repair or reinstall whatever it needs. i am unsure if i need the sdk or adk toolkits for a repair in the download mode to work. while on that screen it says its plugged in and waiting to download firmware via usb under the progress bar it tells me not to unplug until download is completed. its not showing up in "my computer" however. and i've never had to do s software/firmware download or setup when the phone wasn't in full normal working order. i simply want to put back the out of the box software back in place. firmware 88011b and 4.4.2 os. just want to be sure i get the proper files/and or programs/ directions to use those resources properly the last thing i want is to guess at something that i could ask someone more experienced for help with and end up bricking it beyond repair. any and all help is very appreciated and i must ask you to please explain each step as clearly and "dumbed down" as possible as you can. if i need to use a program i've never used before {i.e. i hear things like odin mentioned in the forums but i don't understand or have any experience with any pc to phone applications so the more detailed any instructions can be made the better. anything that most ppl who have started tinkering with their devices usually know as common sense or steps that seem implied if not specifically mentioned i'll miss. i have been reading n lurking for months n managed to root the device. but had another issue i accidentally caused soon after which resulted in a factory wipe and some time to remember what i did that rooted it after spending a day on it the first time n trying many things it took me a while to refind what i had done that worked. then this happened. i'm sure with the proper files/tools it'll be fine but i need help to know what those are and to be sure i do it right the first time. i know if i don't there may not be a second chance. thank you again in advance for your patience and help.
Hey,
I'm pretty new here, so don't hate on my lack of knowledge^^
Maybe I'm even in the wrong sub-forum
(I think there was a sub-forum dedicated to moto x, but this isn't a device-specific issue, so here should be fine - no?)
Got the following problem:
My moto x (2nd gen) is stuck in a loop. I get to the logo-screen, then it goes to "Encryption unsuccessful" and when I click "Reset", it restarts and fails upon trying to reset.
How I got here:
1) A while ago I wanted to encrypt the phone for the lulz (using its' own encryption-tool)
Followed the simple steps, as in having it charged up, but the encryption did not go through.
Don't remember having it to reset at first, it just booted, even though it had bugs after that:
-whenever I charged it, I had problems turning it back on after charging, had to turn off and back on for it to actually work.
-those notifications on top which one can normally open via sliding down, that sliding down did not work after that.
Eventually I did a hard-reset and it fixed the sliding-problem.
Charging also worked fine at first until it did not.
2) I ended up stuck in a boot-loop that went to the logo-screen back and forth (got to logo-screen, restarted, got to logo-screen, restarted, ...)
Tried to soft-/hard-reset using the VOL- and POWER combo.
The hard-reset itself threw some errors at me, something like "can't delete [whatever]".
Still, after a few tries it eventually went past the logo-screen to the encryption-step.
After another few failed resets and emptied cache via recovery-screen, it somehow ignored the encryption-step and turned on the phone (was a fresh version).
3) Worked fine for 1 whole evening, no crashes/glitches/anything until I had to charge it up.
Then it was back to the broken state.
Note: during 2) I tried to boot with a custom recovery-mode(TWRP), but couldn't get it running.
Then I tried to flash it, but anything I tried to install failed.
I had my suspicions, but eventually I got it straightened out: my phone isn't rooted, and the bootloader is locked.
I did get the code to root it via some steps and the motorola service, but the code did not work as it wanted me to unlock the phone first.
From what I've read, to do that I need to get into the settings and unlock/root it...
Funny thing: I can not turn on the phone to get into the settings.
So - anyone got ideas?
Warranty is gone since apparently my tinkering with the locked bootloader and unrooted phone still was visible and they voided the warranty.
Not sure I broke much/anything with that, though, since it DID work at some point after that (even if it was for a few hours before needing recharging)
Therefore I'm open to any suggestions since the alternative stop would be throwing it into the bin^^
Can I unlock the bootloader without having a working system?
Can I root it somehow without having to get into settings (since I can not turn it on in the first place)?
I did a fair share of reading, but most times the guides just assumed that I already rooted it, or forwarded me to a guide where it said "go into settings and spam the build to get advanced options, then simply root/unlock that damn thing". Tried to find a way to unlock/root it without being able to turn it on, but did not get lucky with the search.
If I could unlock and root it, I probably could go from there. Guides are pretty specific and seem to work for most.
Also, I would try the original android version first before searching for any custom systems.
(that is the smartest way to do, right? since I'm just a user and dont plan on doing more hacking/breaking)
Hope all that above wasn't too much to read
Thx for any advice in advance.
Edit:
Well, after what feels like 50 restarts it miraculously did not send me to the "Encryption unsuccessful" but instead booted like it should (as a fresh version, though - so had to backup).
Now I've turned on the thing in the settings so next time it breaks, which I expect to happen by tomorrow, I can flash that sucker.
Still - anyone knows how to enable all that stuff one normally does via settings some way that does not involve successfully booting it?
I mean, there should be a way to root/unlock it without having to turn it on first, right?
Edit2:
As expected, the flashing part was pretty easy, so I'm now sitting with a fresh android 6.0.
Two days in and it's still working fine, haven't had any complications (except battery draining faster then at the very beginning, but I think that's due to it hanging too much on the usb-cable during all those sessions of me trying to fix it - and generally I've had it charge over night a few times to often)
Still would appreciate any advice on how to unlock developer mode and usb-debugging within the bootloader or recovery-mode.
I was playing with it, wanted to root it and boot into twpr, but before i could do any of that, i was stuck in recovery mode! First time i restarted it into recovery to figure out how to get into twpr, i got to this screen, entered my pin 3362 and proceded to next menues, didnt find what i wanted so i selected enter to recovery again, phone restarted got to this screen again, but now my touch screen isn't working! I cant type anything! And i cant get past it! I can sthut it down, restart it, go to fast boot mode, but everything leads me to this recovery screen again where my touchscreen isnt working and i cant type my pin or anything!
DAMN THESE CHINESE SOFTWARE ENGINEERS.... i will give my phone back using warranty claim, hopefuly those morons wont fix it and ill just get a new one.... but maybe they will just give me big .I. because i live in corrupt country where law means nothing, so i wanna try my luck here.... anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I'm a newby in this things, once i menaged to unbrick my old chinese phone elephone P something, it took days of googleing trials and errors, but i menaged to install new android version which wasnt supported by my elephone.... but microphone didnt work tho xD So yall need to explain things to me in details coz im pretty noobish, but i can menage....
Man... this sucks so much..... how bad could these engineers be, i cant be first person this happened to, and this is surely a bug that isnt fixed, and i kept my phone up to date.
Happens to me as well. You can still use the volume keys to navigate around; however, you may not be able to go back once you select something. Unfortunately the only way I got around it was by installing a diff recovery, either twrp or the pixel experience recovery kronflux uses.
Don't use twrp on this phone.
Seriously. Do not.
Also, that's not recovery. That's your bootloader menu and only works through using your volume keys and the power button.
(Side note, warranty won't cover a modified device and attempting to turn in a device that's been altered can hurt later attempts at using your warranty for legit concerns.)

There are 2 pictures, second one is bootloader, yes i navigate using volume buttons, first one is recovery that asks me for password, which i can't type, because ''screen'' stopped working, and i cant get pass these screens. Did you even read my post or just saw it with left eye and decided to type a comment so i have to repeat what i allready said?
Anyways, i returned phone under warranty, and i didnt get to root it with twpr even tho that was what i was trying to do, but phone bugged out on me beforehand. Hopefully they wont give me any problems because i did ''install'' twpr in os, but that probably means nothing as it doesnt really do anything at that point.
I was following tutorials i found for this specific phone, probably bullcrap generic articles, i wont try to root it again because it seems like a problem, **** oneplus....
But, if they dispute my claim and ask for money, they wont get any, i will ask them to return the phone to me and i will manually flash it completely or whatever, and get it working. I was refraining from doing so because its under warranty and i didn't want to **** it up.
