Screen switches off after startup - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I've just bought a brand new display for my sm-t860 that I haven't used for few months. After I installed it and turned it on I was happy when I saw familiar logon screen appearing. Unfortunately my joy only lasted for few seconds as screen switched off after android loaded up.
It happens every time I try to power it on. After system loads screen instantly switches off in the same manner like when you press the power button to turn off the display. It even makes the same sound even though the button wasn't pressed. You can see whole sequence on attached video.
Anyone have idea what could be the reason for this error? Tablet was fully functional before changing the display.

Anyone has idea what this chip is? I noticed it was getting extremely hot when the home screen loaded before display went off like always. Then some absurd idea came to my head and I started tapping it repeatedly while booting. It did a trick as the chip were getting less hot and display stayed on for few more seconds. After few more series of this treatment display stayed on for 10 minutes and I thought the issue is solved. Unfortunately after I opened numerous tabs in web browser system froze and never recovered.
I couldn't even power it on after that so I laid it off for 30 minutes and it's working again but the chip is still getting hot. Tapping works but I need to find the source of this issue rather than try to deal with symptoms.

Power button causing Reboots and Shutdowns in my pocket (May be solved enclosed Pic)

I was a little concerned this might happen and it has been lately. Happened twice today.
I keep my phone in my front pants pocket (usually jeans, well always jeans) and I loath using a case.
Anyway if I sit or bend too long it holds the power button in long enough to shutdown.
If I later sit or bend it hits the power button and boots back up !! How nice.
I usually notice it when it boots because it vibrates on boot.
I love the size and I actually like the buttons.
I'm gonna try putting a stripe of e-grip on either side of the power button to see if I can solve it that way.
This might be the reason for some folks "reboots".
EDIT: My current solution:

A custom ROM or MOD could simply add a menu to the shutdown button. IE: Reboot, Reboot Recovery, Shut Down, etc.

That Hold the Power Button in for 10 seconds to shutdown is a Low Level feature in place of removing the battery.
You never want to defeat that even if you could.

it should have been hold power + volume down or something. That is a bit of a shame
or something like those tiny holes where you insert a paper clip like some devices.
I think this might just work

S9+ screen stays black, not turning on

Hello XDA!
today the screen on my Galaxy S9+ G965F/DS suddenly stopped working. I can hear sounds while it turns on and while its on if i tap on something, LED is sometimes blinking blue while on, red while charging and green if charged. But the screen stays black no matter what i do.
Tried: Soft reset, with USB connected and not connected. Booting into recovery and odin-mod.
Connected to PC i see s9+ in explorer, while in odin-mod i see the device showing in that mod too.
Unrooted and untoched firmware.
Before I send this device to repair, or try to repair it by myself i would like to hear some suggestions what else i could try before opening dat device.
Cheers and thanks to everyone in advance! :fingers-crossed:
If the screen isn't working in download-mode, there is nothing you can do. Of course, you can open the phone and try to fix the problem, but then you will lose your warranty. The best would be, if you bring it to your operator, or the shop, where you buyed it. The repair should also be free, because you havn't root your phone.
Try to backup your data over the PC. You can also try to start the device, plug it into the charger, and leave it for at least 24 hours. Then it should backup your data to the Samsung cloud.
restarted in recovery and connected phone to pc and found it on adb

@profi_fahrer not afraid to loose warranty since its samsung and yeah everything that i need is already backed up.
potentially clear back incoming
update: another thing i noticed is that haptic feedback/response is like lagging and coming a bit later then it normaly would
Update:
Got myself an USB type c to HDMI adapter to check if gpu-unit is working... and it is.
So atm I am thinking about opening the device and looking into the problem.
As far as I understand this, failure could be in the display flex cable. Or the display itself. But since its an AMOLED and Pixels are drawn separately from each other..
Checked all sensors, touch, fingerprint reader, all 3 cameras.. Everything is working as should. So weird anyway.

Umidigi One Pro wont go back to "sleep"

Hey Guys,
I have just gotten a fresh Umidigi One Pro like 8 hours ago. Yay, at last, a brand new Phone.. Looks awesome and all BUT
Whenever it gets a Message via Email, Message or anything else that shortly lits up the screen, it will NOT go back to sleep, unless I open the Phone and turn it off again.
I had checked the settings and put Android inactivity thing to 30 Seconds where no inputs where made.
I have just now deactivated the messages on lockscreen completely and I am waiting for a information that I have received a new message (sent one for testing purpose).. and the screen STILL lit up again, even though not showing a message!
Any Ideas why Android isn't goint to sleep automatically? Because when it does not turn off, itgets more and more hot. I just had it only realized that i got DAAAAAMN hot, cuz it slid under the pillow.
I am completely puzzled about this, as my old MIUI usually turned off just after a few seconds (like 5-10 Secs latest) ...
It just now happened to happen AGAIN, my Email must have arrived, it does NOT show on the lockscreen, all in all i see like nothing beside Network+Wifi Signal, Battery, Time and Mic, Avatar and Camera Icon in the bottom.
It kind of pisses me off, as this would mess up Batterytime badly. I would love to keep the Phone, as it really looks awesome to me. Thats kind of a flaw, or maybe even damaged Phone?
I would love to hear from you that I just miss a feature and how to fix it.....
Thanks!
Mhm, the only way I found that would stop to lit up the Screen and not turning off again, is to turn off the processes in the background completely using DuraSpeed ... damn ... useless.

I must confirm this issue. After notification phone display is constantly on. Really annoying.
This is a problem... Potentially deal breaker. What's crazy is if you search for ambient display in settings it shows to be under the battery menu however, it's not there when I look for it.
I found an adb command that supposed to turn off wake screen on notification but I can't try it out right now for lack of computer.
If anyone wants you try, it's
adb shell settings put secure doze_enabled
Please let us know if it works.

WEIRD screen "colouring" when automatic brightness is maxed out

Hello overyone,
I Googled and found nothing, so I'm here. Let's see what experts think...
What's happening:
When the "automatic brightness" function is turned on and the smartphone itself is exposed to the sun, it tends to "overdo" the level of brightness (and in a VERY strange way). Whole screen starts to look "washed out" and COMPLETELY strange. It is perfectly visible for example in a black version on Messenger. Display is not just "washed out", the letters is "outlined" aswell (kinda looks like is was "overbrightnessed" and "washed out" or "oversharpened" in some raster editor). At first I thought that it has to be a HW problem (really looks like display is broken or poorly connected to the bus). It is difficult take a picture of the phenomenon, so I tried to decribe it AND tried to replicate it:
Here is original screen of header banner of XDA forum - in darker enviroment the screen looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here is the modified one, looks very simmilar to the phenomenon what's occuring on the phone (brightness is pumped up and "sharpen" effect is pumped up (highly overused)) - in brighter enviroment (outdoor) the screen looks like this:
When the problem occured:
Yesterday. From all of the sudden. I have the phone for month or something, mabye less. No any problems until now.
What I tried:
Identifying the problem. Looks like SW problem. Occuring only in sunlight with "high" brightness. When the fron camera is covered, display darkens and the problem completely disappears. I tried restarting the phone, checking for updates, messing with the brightness settings. Nothing helped. When you make a screenshot, the picture is obviously fine.
Any ideas what it could be? Last thing to try is to factory reset the phone, but I do not want to do it right away obviously.
The phone has a valid warranty, so returning it is always an option (and I'll do it if I don't figure out what it might be).
Thanks for trying, have a wonderful day!
John
'Increased contrast' color profile fixed this problem for me.
Ha! Thats it! Thank you a lot!
I'm excited that the phone is completely ok. That means I'm happy with it so far.
It keeps me wondering, how is it possible that such a bad (non-functioning) feature is included and not patched? Instead of improving readability it turns the screen into complete mess.
Again,
thank you.

Question New Android security update for June 2022

The new update for june 2022 is here.
It should include updates from may.

Just to add a few problems we bumped into.
First night after update, no problems.
Second night after update, the phone had a reboot during the night, so my wake upclock did not go off.
Third night after update my phone went 'dead' during the night. Reviving it with Power button and Volume+ button did work.
After second night AND after third night the settings for the Screen Timeout where cleared and had to be set again.
This all happend on 2 different phones (my wifes and mine).
My wife had this update previous week and i had it this weekend.
So it seems to be 'normal' that his update will do these things.
This morning again my phone was dead.
My wife only had this ones.
So after reactivating, and changing the screen timeout again, i restarted my phone twice now.
Hope it now has stopped.
Anyone else have these problems after the update?
I'm having the exact same issue after updating. The phone froze up twice overnight already, requiring a hard reset to get it going again.
Sorry to her that, but i do not think that a hard reset was needed.
We only did a software reboot, and after that it all started to work again.
"known" bug of the latest software version.
Try activating the screen saver during battery charging, for my X20 it works (it seems that if the phone is running something while charging, and the screen saver somehow keeps it running, the bug does not appear)
Damn, last few day

Damn, the last few days multiple times a reboot during charging (at night).
I tried on my phone a trick from a previous Nokia (double tick to awake), but that did not help.
My wife tried your tip and had no trouble anymore (2 days in a row now) and i tried last night and it seems to work.
Thanks for the tip, this seems indeed to work now.
