Samsung flashing + brom mode - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I ask you something ¿is there any way to flash a samsung stock firmware on brom mode (not in download mode, but brom mode)? If there is, ¿How can i do that? Thanks

Model SM-.....

is that samsung use mediatek? if so, find full dump firmware for your model and flash it using sp flash tool, you need bypass brom authentication first in order to flash

SM-A146U, processor MT6833

I tried already with sp flash tool, I know about bypass brom authentication; but I what I don't have is a reliable scatter firmware. I tried to convert any of the samsung roms I downloaded, into a scatter one, by using Android utility, but the generated scatter is useless, so i don't know if all the rest of "converted" files are reliable too.

Sir, that's exactly the problem: There's no download mode. It's stuck on boot rom mode, so the phone it's just recognized as mtk device.
So, I tried to find a firmware scatter version for this phone, but besides what is a relatively new model, its storage is UFS, so any EMMC scatter file is useless, at least on sp flash tool. Someone has said me, I can flash it with unlocktool, but i'm broke and I cannot afford that program (and obviously if the phone is stuck in that mode, odin doesn't work).

Cant use SP FlashTools at all

I got the scatter file from CM thread. But I cannot use it in SP cuz "initializing scatter file failed please check the name of scatter p9000 is legal".
Name is MT6755_Android_scatter.txt
SP latest version 5.1520
Dont know whats wrong and what to do. I got this device for $10 on GearBest in a competition. Didnt know flashing MTK devices is so difficult. Will stick to snapdragon from now on.

Did you flash CM too? I followed the instruction but when I hit the download button, SP does not load at all. Its frustrating cuz I dont see why cant we use adb instead of this MTK-specific SP flash tool

adb is used for pushing files, adb shell and other stuff, not to flash roms..(except adb sideload) ive flashed Aerom, i havent tried cm13, make sure your not using wrong scatter file, i think p9000 and p9000 lite have different scatters
I have got past the scatter file problem by shortening its name but then when I hit the download button, nothing happened.
I have installed SP driver pack, disable digital signing but when I try to install the VCOM driver, the installer could not install because the program wasn't signed.

Which version of Windows do you use??
The VCOM-drivers cant be installed in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update...
Easy!
Use some other directory (folder), e.g. C: or C:\Flash\. this will work.

Root for Asus Zenfone 3 Max

Hello,
I've been recently trying to root my Asus Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL) using SP Flash tool,
however, I haven't found the correct scatter file for my device. Does anyone know where
I could find a MT6737 scatter file? Thanks in advance!
Hi. From my experience, correct scatter files that work (not just any random scatter file) reside in a ROM/Firmware zip.
Doing a little searching, I found that you can download stock firmware for you device from Asus officially. They offer them in the support section.
Here is the link: https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone-3-Max-ZC520TL/HelpDesk_Download/
Should you download the official firmware specific to your device and unzip the file, (in all probability) you will also find the correct scatter file which you are looking for (something like xxxxx_scatter_file.txt).
(also keeping in place a stock rom is never but never a bad idea )
However... You mentioned that you need the scatter file to root??? I have not any idea as to why you would need SP Flash tool for any other reason than flashing stock.
Unless you are flashing full custom rom which cannot be flashed through recovery perhaps?
Anyway... Good luck!!!
Thanks for the quick response!

I needed the Flash tool because I was trying to flash TWRP, and from there install superuser. I did as you said, but when I tried loading the scatter file
the program recognized it as invalid. A huge thanks for the help though!!!

Ok... No worries!! We will probably figure it out in the end.
By the way, I am not sure I understand exactly how you were going to use SP Flashtool to flash TWRP. From my experience it does not work that way. You need platform tools (adb and fastboot).
platform tools here ----> https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html
It is with these that you will unlock bootlader, and after bootloader is unlocked, first flash supersu, install busybox and lastly flash twrp.
Please look at my how-to root and twrp section. It is not for your device, but it will give you a good idea of the process: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/lenovo-tab-3-8-tb3-850f-unbrick-root-t3598727

SP tool error chip type not match after wrong stock rom

Dear all,
I have flashed the wrong stock rom on my tablet (lenovo). Now i have the right stock rom, but when i use SP tool to flash i get the error "Chip type not match. Target chip is MT6580. load scatter chip is MT6582."
First i flashed stock rom Lenovo tab 3 710I, i tried to boot, but i got only a black screen with vibrating every 2-3 seconds. Then i knew the right model for the device, which is lenovo tab 2 A7-30HC , so i tried to flash it but i got the "chip type not match" error.
could you please help me solve this problem?
best regards,
Format the device with wrong scatter file and after that load orginal one and try
also try flashing recovery (if avilable ) via adb

good idea.format the device and then re flash the correct firmware.
Also have the same error
I also have the same thing going on. except that i haven't flashed the device yet. I have an AG Boost Dual SIM. I downloaded the ROM from firmwarefile[dot]com but the chip type of the phone is MT6572 While the scatter of the ROM has MT6580. Should i look for another ROM or is there some kind of hacks and back doors to flash the same ROM?
how to format with wrong scatter?

Question Searching for anyone with a DN2103 EU 128GB to extract the Scatter file

Sooo, I fcked up again.
I've locked the bootloader without the OEM unlocked checked in the developer settings.
I'm now trying to restore the phone through SP Flash tool, but I need the scatter file.
I've found this post with a linked scatter file, but I've also found this article with instructions to extract the precise scatter file from your phone, so I'd like to try with the article first.
So I'm searching for any good samaritan with a DN2103 EU 128GB that would extract his scatter files for the community.
You can be rooted and everything, it makes no difference. The article is pretty short and straight forward to follow. The requirements are to have the usual Adb & Mtk drivers installed and the MTK Droid tool available to download directly from here.
Thanks in advance

To just flash boot you can use this tool https://github.com/bkerler/mtkclient It works well for that. (I reccomend you to downlaod the already compiled .iso for the installation)
Sadly the unlock features of this tool does not work for the OPN2, but I've opened an Issue on the GitHub thread about it, we'll see what can be done

Samsung a315g/dsl dead

Hi am sick right now caused i messed up i trying to google frp my sm-a315g/dsl device and it kept freezing so i decided to try flashing individual files (yeah I should get some good licks for that ) so i started with the bootloader file it was successful but now the phone won't turn on at all not even charging. I tried brom tp but i don't have the right scatter files. Can anyone help me SOLVE my problem that I caused.
What scatter???
You can't flash idividual files just like that.
You can only flash stock firmware, if you want other then you need to unlock bootloader and root your device!
So you need to flash latest right stock firmware with right region using ODIN in order to fix your device....

The phone not reading to work with Odin thats why am trying via Brom TP unless there is another way to get it show on Odin, cause the phone is not powering on to enter download mode.
Check SP Flash Tool with MTK drivers for MediaTek Helio P65 (MT6768).
Factory images fastboot stock firmware to be downloaded (not odin)
