I have unlocked the boot loader in other phones many times previously so I'm fairly good at using the unlock tool and understanding the various nuances. However the problem I keep getting is that the unlock tool tells me "unlock failed please add to your account in Mi unlock status in developer options. Obviously I have done that multiple times and I can't see any legitimate reason why it keeps throwing up this error. Yes I've tried all the usual suspects such as changing the recovery phone and the cables et cetera.
Anybody got any idea why the unlock tool keeps asking me to add my account in "Mi unlock status"?
1.turn on oem unlock
2.unlocking each device has a 168 day time limit. wait for a long time.
3(recommend)use 9008 force-unlock
Problem solved - when you create your Xiamoi account put USA as your location even if you are as I am based in the UK.

you can't unlock on Global ROM although the official guide says yes.
I tried it hundreds of times, changing this, changing that, and all failed
Just flash to China Dev ROM to unlock

Did you tried to wipe cache from device before procceding to unlock?Did you used multiple accounts on this device?Be sure that you use the same account both device and on browser
I reset the mobile and tried only one account i have..
Have you logged in your miui account in the phone? Because the same thing happened to me, the phone needs to be logged in to your miui account, not only the computer program, but the phone also.
S i logged in and even downloaded one theme..
some people say it got solved by using the Redmi usb cable you got in your box. or using an england VPN.
This is a frustrating issue, I guess lot of people are facing this. I have got the permission few days back but am facing the same issue as OP. I have tried everything mentioned on this forum, MIUI forum and what not. I am currently on China Dev ROM, unfortunately it still does not work. One last thing which might be the actual issue is that even after getting permission from Xiaomi, it takes a few more days to sync this to their servers. I have read many people saying they gave up but when they tried after 5-6 days, it worked. So I am hoping it will work for me too in the next 5-6 days
I am too fed up of unlocking bootloader, i got the permision on starting of april still i cant unlock,.. now i am back global stable rom will try in few days.
On PC try this steps:
1.disable driver signature enforcement permanently
2.disable user account control
3.disable smart screen protection
4.disable any security solution like AV Suite,Firewall, even WIndows inbuilt firewall
5.check if your Windows Management Instrumentation service running
6.right click on MiUNLOCK exe and run as administrator
This is perhaps the most disturbing and irritating thing to have happened to me in my experience of rooting and owing Android smartphones. The process which seems simple is perhaps the most complicated and uncalled for. I have used phones form "Novice manufactures" to Super manufactures like Karbonn, Micromax, Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, OnePlus. They all have been tricky but yet did the job as promised. Easiest was unlocking my Oneplus2, did it the very day i got my phone. HTC and Sony were tricky and a little complicated but once the process started, they were executed to perfection. I do not understand why Xioami had to screw up this big time. I got the permission but have tried everything possible; however, just not successful. Will wait for a while and get back to unlocking in a weeks time
i did got the permission yesterday tried on global stable rom its not happening will be flashing china stable rom and then moving to developer version via updater app, just wanted to confirm should i follow this guide http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html
or is there any other way to go
i have 2 freakin accounts with unlock permissions tried each and every damn step out there on xda and miui forums tried 2 different computers still it says info on the device is different than the current account. god knows what on earth will unlock the bootloader
sorry to revive this old thread, but did you try after 5-6 days and did it actually work to unlock the bootloader with the official way?
This is the most irritating thing with Xiaomi. I've tried every guide and thread on MIUI forums but to no avail. Those idiots at MIUI forums are worthless. They only know to spam forums with "thank you" and "nice" instead of making productive discussion. Many people are facing the same problem with BL unlock and the administrators must be probably aware of the issue. What are they doing for so long? They should have released a new version of mi unlock tool already with the fix or whatever is the issue with their servers, I don't know. I just need to unlock my bootloader officially.
Have you guys checked if "fastboot" command works while in the fastbood mode? Try "fastbood devices" first, does it display the attached device successfully?
I applied for unlocking bootloader and it was accepted. I logged via same account in MIFlashTool and in phone. When I try to unlock it just gets stuck @ 50% and an error pops up 'Current Account is Different from the Account Info on the Device Redmi/Mi'. I have disconnected my other mobiles from my main MI account. Debugging mode and OEM unlocking is ON. Needs to unlock bootloader to using custom ROMS( who doesn't!?)
Using Redmi Note 4 SD.
PS: Tried all the solutions in net, didnt worked.

Hey bud, wait few more days, dont try again and again youll get your device unlocked eventually.
That ''Account mis-matching error'' is being faced by everone who tried to unlock their bootloader after getting permissions from xiaomi. so, if you look closely there are multiple threads regarding unlockin bootloader. so, wait few more days, may be 5-7 days, then try unlocking your phone, it should work. :good::good:

Wait for a few days..like 4-5 days. Don't try to unlock during these days. Then unlock.
You are getting that error because Mi hasn't updated your permission status in the status.
Same thing happened with me.
And don't try unofficial unlocking methods.
Got the unlock permission yesterday. I followed every method and suggestion that was floating around this forum before coming to write this thread.
I get the Current account is not bound to this device error.
Tried binding, I get the 86012 error.
Some people say wait for a couple of days, while there are people who are waiting for months and still failing to unlock.
Surprisingly there is no official post from Xiaomi if one should wait for a couple of days after getting the unlock permission.
I recently bought this device and I am at a loss here. I tried every possible solution out there. Except I haven't tried flashing a dev rom yet, but there are people who said you do not need a dev rom, just enable OEM unlocking from developer options and USB debugging and it does make sense. If the global ROM has the option for OEM unlocking then why do I need to flash a Dev ROM? Also where is the official post from Xiaomi which suggests that?
There are just people with their experiments and posting what helped them succeed. Is there anyone who has figured it out right? Help me understand what exactly am I missing here guys.
Edit: I also tried unlocking with lower versions of the unlock tool. Stucks at 50%. FlyVPN doesn't connect, and if it does, there's no internet connectivity, the websites won't load, internet won't work.
Hey, you're not alone bud.
Ive got my device unlocked after 15 days, 7 days after getting unlocking permissions.
Actually everyone faces this 50%stuck error with older version of mi unlock tool, with the new one everyone facing the error like 99% stuck or account not bound error.
What you have to do is just wait with the stable rom which your device shipped with, everytime you try to unlock your phone, you'll get failed for a Buncha reasons. The possible reason be like, account isn't bound yet, failed to verify device info, failed to locate device on i.mi.com etc..
So, when I got permissions, what I did was just do not rush to unlock my device, I know MIUI sucks but still, I got on pc after 2 days of permission then tried to unlock bootloader, it was failed with error failed to verify device information-50% stuck error. I too tried binding my mi account with the help of fly VPN but got the same error 86012 - Device not found.
Then, I just stopped trying to unlock my device every now and then, I've hit find my device option, enabled oem unlocking & USB debugging from dev settings, 5 days later, plugged in my device and hit unlock, it was successfully unlocked.
Eh, then you know TWRP+custom ROM'd it.
I suggest you to wait few more days, like 2-3 days, do not try to unlock your device in between, just wait.. 3 days later get on pc, use old unlock tool and try unlocking your phone. That's gonna works.
Again, do not try every now and then, give Xiaomi servers to sync up your device's details, as I read somewhere they update their server so slowly.

UPDATE : Okay so i finally unlocked the bootloader finally. before the last try, i turned off the password/fingerprint lock and then it unlocked. everyone should try the same thing
I done every possible steps but nothing is happening! the bootloader unlock process always getting stuck at 99% and Account Bound error is coming on the PC and on the phone, "86012:*****" error showing on 'settings-additional settings-dev option-Mi Unlock status'.
I tried with 2 different Mi phone/account.
done with i.mi.com stuffs and find device, tried FlyVPN but there is no server of 'Shanghai"... etc!
Nothing is happeneing! I am a beta tester of MIUI 9 China, and see, i couldn't even unlock the bootloader yet! Wow! What a thing! Its been a week and so, still my bootloader is locked.
No help from Xiaomi.
I need a promising way to unlock. so help me.
See, I have unlocked three RN4 devices, none without the wait.
Had to wait 6-7 days for each one of them. There has been no luck for me in doing anything other than wait for 6-7 days after getting the permission.
But then, maybe something might work out for you.
The steps I tried or know of:
1. Being on the developer ROM is a must. Chances of unlocking bootloader from global stable MIUI are very slim.
2. Use old Mi Unlock tool. A quick google will land you there.
3. Don't change the accounts in the phone. You should be logged in with the account you got permission in.
4. Go to developer options and check "USB Debugging", "OEM Unlock" and one more option something sort of "USB Debugging Security".
5. Try to bind the account. It will yield a response with some code and Chinese text. Ignore it.
6. Use the original cable and use the ports on the back of the CPU.
7. Keep "Find my device" turned on. And log in to your account in your desktop and try locating your phone.
8. Now try unlocking.
I followed all the above steps I could find out from anywhere and I was able to do it.
In your case I do think you are either not in the developer build or you need to use the old Mi tool.

After removing fingerprints and password also - nothing doing. I had applied/received unlock permission from MI on Monday, and today is Wednesday, but it keeps showing "Could not unlock after 31 hours of attempt".. Dont know what that means since from my count, it is more than 42 hours
Hi
I want to unlock my Pocophone F1. I enabled developer options, activated OEM unlocking, USB debugging and created an xiaomi account. However, I have a problem, when trying to add the account to mi unlock status. I keep getting the error: Couldn't add. Device does not exist in the server
When trying to use the mi unlock tool, I get the message to add my account to mi unlock status when I'm at 99% which I can't due to the error above. Tried serveral versions I found.
I have a sim card inserted, tried logging out and back, even factory-resetted the phone but still getting the error. Already waiting since 3 days. Does it help to wait a few days more or is this just waisted time?
My Pocophone F1 is brandnew. Could this be an issue?
Thanks.

Yes, but there isn't really much to follow because I can't get past step 5.
Well, that's kind of frustrating.
I've tried pretty much everything with no success. I wrote to Xiaomi customer service and they basically told me that they will not help me because unlocking the bootloader is not a typical customer service (I thought unlocking the bootloader is a feature of this phone as they provide an official way and tool for it). They also told me not to do that for security reasons and that I will void my warranty (although that's not true afaik - I don't care about the warranty anyway). I don't know if I'm allowed to post the content of the mail, but there isn't any other useful information in it anyway.
I'll try again occasionally over the next two weeks or so and then just sell it. Unfortunately, the back of the phone has a very small, almost not noticable scratch, so I don't think I can return it to the store where I bought it (the phone is only a week old).
Too bad, I really like the hardware, but the phone is unusable for me with a locked bootloader. It's like buying a TV, but the TV only has one channel and you're not allowed to change the channel. Well, it's not really the same, but you get the point.
This was the first and last time I bought a Xiaomi phone.
Cheers
