Hi all,
I wanted to flash a newer android 13 stock firmware because my Sony from a UK operator doesn't get the OTA update.
I have the firmware from XperiFirm and made the ftf with flashtool. Just before I was about to get if flashed I was reading comment saying this tool is not good anymore, but I am not 100% sure how to use the Newflasher instead.
Could someone help me on that?
I don't really want to brick my phone and if it's not a safe way to get android 13 I might just don't do it.
Cheers.

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on the three network. If I flash the H3G 2.3.3 firmware to the device using Odin will the OTAs still work? If not is there a way to flash the standard firmware back and have the updates working as normal?
Thanks
If you flash stock firmware for your region, you should be able to get updates OTA again. In saying that, I've seen more than a few cases where this hasn't been the case (Why ? No idea. Never happened to me/not important to me as I don't use stock firmware so I've never delved into the why).
So you can flash stock firmware, see if you can get OTA updates.
If not, might as well take the easy course & flash your stock firmware updates via Odin (like many people) rather than spend potentially who knows how much time trying to find out why OTA won't work in spite of you going back to stock
It works for kies and OTA
I downloaded the original 2.3.3 and flashed it to my Samsung Galaxy S2 and the OTA updates worked up to firmware 2.3.5 and then I plugged into kies and it updated to 4.0.3. I used this site http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=-1#modelsa
Thanks for the help guys.
Hey people.
I wanted to know: is there a way to know what was the firmware/android version that came with the phone when i bought it?
Because i already change from 2.1.1.0.A.6 to 2.1.1.C.0.0 and vice-versa and now my firmware is not the original one anymore :S, I'm from Portugal and i don't know what was the Official Firmware/Android Version that came with the phone when i bought it, i want to installed it back to my phone so i can have my phone Original again without having different firmware. And if that is possible, where can i download it?.
I'll give 'Thanks' to good answers.
Cheers :good:

It came with 1.6 when SonyEricsson brought it out, and they provided updates to 2.1, with 2.1.1.C.0.0 being the last one they provided for the x10mini pro. So if you've got that firmware, your phone is still considered original, if that update was available in your region.
If your phone was locked to a specific provider, with their provider specific software (bloatware) installed, you won't be able to get it back to how it was when you bought it.
If you want to make sure you have the last original firmware for your phone for your region, do a repair with PC-Companion or SEUS. And if you had your bootloader unlocked, use S1Tool's restore function to lock it again afterwards. More original than that is impossible.
Now there's another problem, i don't know where i can download a firmware for the Portugal region, the greek firmware works but it has the keyboard problem 'buttons ç and ," that GB roms also have, so i would need to root the phone to fix that.
So there's no way to get the original firmware back :S.
Yes i can always repair with that but...if the firmware is the wrong one 'brazilian firmware for example' then those programs can't find the firmware for the repair.
I hope i never need to repair my phone and that i can stick with the GB roms, they're so much better than original eclair.

Hello
I flashed the latest firmware available for my S6 edge (SM-G925F) : G925FXXU3DPDP (XEF).
I've never used Android 5.1.1 on my phone and I asks to you if downgrade is possible at this point (latest BL I think) and if yes, how ?
Thanks you for your further replies
Bye.
I Think Once u Flashed The latest Firmware U can't Go back
Because Of bootloader
Bt U can try Download Android LP And boot loader And put Ur phone in Download Mode Flash with odin
i updated on 6.02...
didn´t like it...
flashed back to 5.1.1 stock without problems (odin)
Hello poci,
You were running with which firmware ?
It's easy to go back to lollipop?
I'm reading some comments off people wich say No, ando some less who say Yes.
i made an OTA update from 5.1.1 to 6.0.2... but i didn´t like the battery drain on 6.0.2......(or 6.0.1 i don´t know anymore)
after clean install of 6.0.2....there was no change at all...
then i went back to 5.1.1 by flashing a stock 5.1.1. firmware with odin...no trouble or anything else...
If flash fails, is my device will be hardbricked ???
if you have the right firmware...i would say "no"
so why should it fail?
i used this firmware for my o2 edge
G925FXXU3QOLD_G925FTEF3QOL1_G925FXXU3QOJB_HOME.tar
Beceause newest bootloaders blocks downgrade, you was in which firmware on Marshmallow ?
don´t know exactly...60.1 then
when 6.0.2 blocks downgrade...
Hi, I have a F5122 (dual) that started with 34.0.A.2.292-R6A firmware. I was playing around and flashed some other official firmware but now I want to go back so I can get the Nougat OTA, and I realized I am unable to download it!
xpericheck has it but it's hosted on Alfafile and I would rather not pay to download one file.
Does anyone else have a the ftf for 34.0.A.2.292-R6A, or another Nougat eligible version?
Or else does anyone know how if the Emma flashtool can be configured to flash my selected firmware instead of the developer version?
Cheers
As I understand it, I don't need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash different official firmware versions to my phone. I'm leaving the bootloader locked until I really have a need to unlock it, because of the long-shot hope for a root exploit that will let me preserve my TA partition. As part of that, I really don't want to be stuck on a recent firmware version with all the old security holes patched. Therefore I want to get ahold of my current firmware or earlier before I flash anything. Somebody stop me here if I've misunderstood and anything I've said so far is impossible.
I have the dual-sim variant, G8342, running firmware 47.1.A.2.324.
Question 1: Is there a source somewhere of archived XZ1 firmware versions that includes 47.1.A.324 or earlier? I have searched the forum and google, but most xperia firmware backup sites have little or no files for the XZ1, and the couple of sources I've found are ancient with broken links. The post on these forums with stock firmware downloads only includes much newer versions.
Question 2: Is there a way I can extract a copy of my current firmware from my phone, without unlocking the bootloader? I find tutorials that work for "any xperia", but they're all quite old and talk about Sony PC Companion instead of Xperia Companion, and they all involve clicking "Your software is up to date"--and my software is not up to date, and updating it before backing it up would defeat the entire purpose of backing it up.
I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me so I can flash new firmware without losing the ability to go back.
Hi there, sorry i can't help you with your questions. I have one more question actually. are you sure i don't have to unlock bootloader if i flash official stock firmware??
Opposite to you, i'm stuck with a really old build from 2017. my phone is xz1 and its build version is 47.1.A.2.374. android security patch is from october 2017 and i desperately want to update the newest firmware yet i'm always told that my firmware is lastest.
sooo, am i able to flash it with the flashtool or newflasher?/
thank you

Seems highly unlikely that you haven't received an update since 2017 but then stranger things have happen.. New phone, carrier branded hmm..
Have you tried to update with Sony Companion, use the software update on the phone its self..
Oh and yes you can use the other methods you have mentioned..

Thanks a ton, lionelbac! For anyone else who comes across this thread, there's now also a download of 47.1.A.2.281_CE1 available in j4nn's magnificent TA partition backup thread, since that firmware is necessary for his exploit to work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz1-compact/development/devonly-exploits-temp-root-to-backup-t3795510
